Paradise Has a Price in Far Cry® 6

Lead a Guerrilla Revolution to Free the Island Nation of Yara From its Brutal Leader Antón Castillo, Portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito

Sydney, Australia — July 13, 2020 — Our country is like this grenade… you must clutch our people nice and tight or we all go boom.” – Antón Castillo. Today during Ubisoft Forward, Ubisoft announced that Far Cry® 6 is currently in development and will release February 18, 2021 on Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Stadia, and the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store on Windows PC, as well as on UPLAY+, Ubisoft’s subscription service*.

With performances from renowned actor and Emmy Award Nominee Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul, The Boys, The Mandalorian) joined by Anthony Gonzalez (Coco), a score created by film and television composer Pedro Bromfman (Narcos), and an opening sequence directed by Emmy Award winner Patrick Clair (Westworld, True Detective), Far Cry 6 brings in Hollywood-calibre talent to bolster the narrative experience.

Developed by Ubisoft Toronto**, Far Cry 6 plunges players into the heart of a modern-day guerrilla revolution set in Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. President Antón Castillo (Esposito) vows to restore his country to its former glory while grooming his son Diego (Gonzalez) to follow in his footsteps. Yet paradise has a price, and enriching his country means subjugating those who don’t adhere to his vision. In this island nation in turmoil, players will experience the adrenaline and chaos of guerrilla combat as they are swept up in a revolutionary movement to take down a tyrant.

“Powerful and complex antagonists are part of Far Cry’s DNA, so right from the beginning we knew we had to raise the bar for who these characters could be and how they would come to life,” said Navid Khavari, Narrative Director, Ubisoft Toronto. “Working with such an amazing roster of talent, including the one and only Giancarlo Esposito, and seeing how they embody our antagonists as terrifying but also deeply complex human characters has been an unbelievable experience that I can’t wait to share with our fans.”

Players will be able to play as either male or female Dani Rojas, a local Yaran swept up in a revolution against Antón Castillo. As Dani, players will become a guerrilla fighter and explore and unite an entire island nation, from lush jungles to Yara’s capital city Esperanza. To succeed against the overwhelming power of Anton’s regime, players will need to be resourceful as they employ an arsenal of unique new weapons, vehicles and Fangs For Hire like Chorizo, the cutest wiener dog on wheels.

Ubisoft also announced that Gold, Ultimate and Collector’s Editions for Far Cry 6 will be available for pre-order***:

  • The Gold Edition will include the base game and the Season Pass.

UBISOFT ANNOUNCES WATCH DOGS®: LEGION WILL BE AVAILABLE OCTOBER 29, 2020

SAN FRANCISCO – JULY 12, 2020 – Today at Ubisoft’s first digital press conference, Ubisoft Forward, the company announced that Watch Dogs®: Legion will launch on October 29, 2020, on Xbox One, PlayStation®4, Stadia and for Windows PC on Epic Games and Uplay. The game will also be available on UPLAY+*, Ubisoft’s subscription service. Watch Dogs: Legion will also release on Xbox Series X and PlayStation®5 upon the launch of the consoles.

Built with a next-gen concept, Watch Dogs: Legion introduces “Play as Anyone,” a never-before-seen gameplay innovation created by Ubisoft Toronto**, the studio behind Watch Dogs: Legion. Play as Anyone gives players the entire city of London to choose their roster of resistance members from. Every single person in the open world can be recruited and played, is unique and has a backstory, personality and skillset. Watch Dogs: Legion will also support hardware-accelerated DirectX Raytracing on Xbox Series X and full ray-tracing support on Nvidia RTX-equipped PC devices, bringing real-time ray-tracing reflections to the streets of London. Players who purchase Watch Dogs: Legion on Xbox One or PlayStation4 will be able to upgrade their game to the next-gen version (Xbox Series X or PlayStation5) at no additional cost***.

In Watch Dogs: Legion, London is facing its downfall. Amidst the growing unrest of a restless London, a mysterious entity known as Zero-Day has framed secret underground resistance DedSec for coordinated bombings across London. In the aftermath, criminal opportunists from every dark corner of London took hold and filled the void left by a defeated government. As a member of DedSec, players will be going up against criminal opportunists in Watch Dogs: Legion; sadists, mercenaries, cybercriminals, and more; they’ll have to be prepared for a variety of situations. Players must recruit members into their DedSec Resistance to take on these criminal opportunists, liberate London and uncover the mystery behind Zero-Day.

Watch Dogs: Legion lets players recruit anyone they can see in the open world to be part of their DedSec Resistance up to 40 characters at a time. The London setting gives players the perfect backdrop to recruit all kinds of characters – who each have unique skills and weapons – to their Resistance: from an MI6 agent to a bareknuckle fighter, from a brilliant hacker to a getaway driver, from a football hooligan to an inconspicuous old lady. Players can play as any character from their roster of recruits and approach a situation based on their preference; whether the approach is from the sky while riding high on a cargo drone as a construction worker, or on the ground as a spy using high-tech gadgets like a gun-jamming watch and a prototype of a rocket-firing car, the choice is for the player to make.

In addition, Ubisoft announced the Gold, Ultimate and Collector’s Editions**** for Watch Dogs: Legion:

  • Gold Edition includes the base game and the Season Pass, including new story expansions, extra DedSec missions, four unique heroes, the Complete Edition of the original Watch Dogs game from 2014, and more.
  • Ultimate Edition includes Gold Edition and Ultimate digital content, including three new playable heroes, four weeks’ VIP Status to earn currency faster and new masks.
  • Collector’s Edition includes the Ultimate Edition plus the LED Ded Coronet Mask Replica, an exclusive SteelBook®, a set of three stickers and a recto-verso propaganda poster, all inspired by the game’s universe, and instant access to the mask in-game. Watch Dogs: Legion Now Set for October 29 Release

It feels like Watch Dogs: Legion has been a long time coming but it looks like that wait will be over soon as Ubisoft revealed during their streaming event that the game will be releasing on October 29th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia on October 29th with an eventual PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X version planned sometime in the future. Similar to the other games given release dates during the event, this one will also allow those who purchase the current-gen versions of the game to upgrade to next-gen at no extra cost.

Alongside this release date announcement Watch Dogs: Legion was also given a lengthy cinematic trailer as well as nearly eight minutes of gameplay footage and both of these videos can be found below. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Sets Sail on November 17

During their big streaming event today Ubisoft announced that they will be releasing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla onto the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Stadia on November 17th. Surprisingly, the company appears to not have an exact release date set for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X version of the game at this time but when it is released those who purchased the last-gen versions will be able to upgrade at no extra cost.

To go along with this announcement Ubisoft also released a small overview trailer as well as a lengthy thirty minute long gameplay video showing off a little of everything that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has to offer including a look at the raids that players can hold against Saxon troops and fortresses across England. These raids see the player leading their clan in attacks from your longship and pillage enemy territories to bring riches and resources back to your people. These resources can be used to construct and upgrade buildings that allow for deep customization, including a barracks, blacksmith, tattoo parlor, and more.

Far Cry 6 Leaked by PlayStation Store

All it takes is one slip-up from one branch and a major reveal can be leaked early and it looks like the latest one happens to have struck Ubisoft thanks to the PlayStation Store in Hong Kong. While the listing may be pulled down already, it has been revealed that Far Cry 6 is indeed on the way and will likely be part of Ubisoft’s “Forward Digital” showcase that was meant to occur on July 12th. The fact that Ubisoft later mentioned how a certain character referenced in the game leak would be displeased has basically confirmed this information.

Far Cry 6 is so far confirmed for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 and will be set in the tropical paradise called Yara where the dictator Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means necessary while his son Diego follows in his footsteps. Players will step into the role of Dani Rojas, a local who has risen up among others to become a revolutionary to try and liberate the nation while fighting against Anton’s troops in the largest Far Cry map to date. Players will have access to makeshift weaponry, vehicles, and even “Amigos” who are the returning Fangs for Hire system from previous entries in the series.

Despite the amount of information and basic confirmation, it is worth noting that for now this leak should only be treated as such until the likely reveal on July 12th.
