The 76,000 square foot building will support ProbablyMonsters and its family of studios with ample room to expand teams and house new studios. College gaming friends John Dunbar and Marsh Lefler worked together on the creation of Mythos at Flagship Studios before leaving to co-found Runic Games in 2008. Patrick Blank, original Lead Level Designer on Borderlands, later joined, and Allen Fong, then with Perfect World, soon began working with the team before officially joining Runic in 2016. Their team created Torchlight, a seminal RPG released in 2009, leading to the studio being named as a “Top 5 Developer” by Gamasutra. They followed this with Torchlight II in 2012. Since joining forces, the quartet have worked closely together for over a decade in an atmosphere of cooperation that goes beyond their formal disciplines and roles.

The campaign for a new DJ video game touts the game’s ability to make anyone (and they mean anyone) a DJ.

This week, NCSOFT will launch a fully integrated ad campaign for FUSER™, a DJ video game from award-winning developer Harmonix, that’s a never-ending virtual music festival for music lovers, content creators and gamers. The upcoming game lets players create their perfect DJ personas, customize their performance stages, and then mix over 100 songs different artists, genres and generations. Thanks to FUSER, you no longer need fancy turntables or years of training to be a DJ—now anyone can headline their own virtual music festival.

And NCSOFT and Harmonix mean anyone: The campaign, titled “Unexpected DJs,” features David Hasselhoff (DJ Hoff), Jonathan Van Ness (DJ YasKween), Chloe Kim (DJ 1080) and other unexpected celebs. The effort includes online films, a site that lets users create their own DJ persona, unexpected brand partnerships, and even the chance to have a DJ battle against Diplo online. Each element will reinforce how easy it now is to feel like a DJ while igniting the creativity of FUSER’s core audience.
 
“FUSER redefines the music game genre. It’s driven by creativity, originality and expression. Today, FUSER will release a long-form online film that unveils the unexpected-DJ lineup one by one and invites viewers to become DJs too. Shot entirely during the COVID-19 pandemic, the film takes place in each unexpected DJ’s home, illustrating how FUSER can transform any living room into an epic festival stage—even Diplo makes a cameo from his home studio. The 90-second spectacle was directed by music-video super duo BRTHR and features an impressive array of VFX as well as tracks from the game.
 
“My favorite part about FUSER is how it really gave me the feeling of DJ’ing a festival,” said David Hasselhoff. “Anyone at home can step into a world of epic music, colors, lights and be a legitimate DJ. It’s a wonderful thing and a lot of fun.”
 
But the DJ announcements won’t stop with the film. To help fans and brands join in on the fun too, a UGC tool built for social sharing called “DJ DNA” will live on DJDNATEST.com, allowing gamers to generate their own Unexpected-DJ personas and then share them with the world. Additionally, users of the tool will then have the opportunity to enter for a chance to battle with superstar DJ Diplo online. NCSOFT will be releasing more details on that event later.
 
The campaign is the first work from NCSOFT’s new ad agency, Goodby Silverstein & Partners. “This game is about bringing together the most unexpected collaborations. Our ad needed to do the same,” said Laura Petruccelli, GS&P creative director. “But we didn’t want this to be about influencers only. The DJ DNA Test allows anyone to turn into a DJ– allowing gamers to create a piece of music culture before they ever start playing FUSER.  It’s an epic game demo wrapped in a commercial.”
 
No word yet on if Hoff’s DJ career will continue after the campaign. We really, really hope it does.

Watch the New Cyberpunk 2077 Commercial Starring Keanu Reeves!

CD PROJEKT RED has released a brand new Cyberpunk 2077 commercial featuring Keanu Reeves, who also portrays a major character in the game.

The promotional video was broadcast during game 1 of this year’s NBA Finals between Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat. In the commercial, Keanu Reeves invites players to join his character, Johnny Silverhand, in Night City when the game releases in November.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release November 19th, 2020, for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, with the version for Google Stadia set to launch the same year. The game will also be playable on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 consoles when available. At a later date, a free upgrade to Cyberpunk 2077, taking full advantage of next-gen hardware, will become available for owners of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions respectively.

New U.S. battleships set sail in World of Warships with new update 

World of Warships sees the arrival of the new powerful U.S. battleships subbranch in early access today with Update 0.9.9, including the Tier VIII Kansas and the Tier IX Minnesota. They form part of a new U.S. Battleships event. The update also includes new Directives, an upgraded Naval Base Port, and a new season of Clan Battles.

The new US Battleships feature powerful main armaments, good anti-torpedo protection, and great maneuverability. However, while their rudder is very responsive, the ships are rather slow for their type. Numerous main battery guns with a solid salvo weight and decent firing range, which comes at the expense of longer gun reload times. Rounding out the battleships are their decent AA defenses which can be reinforced with the Defensive AA Fire consumable. 

Players can obtain the VIII Kansas by completing Directives, and the IX Minnesota by opening random bundles in the Armoury in exchange for Doubloons. By completing Directives players can get American Tokens, a new temporary resource that can be exchanged for bundles and other rewards in the Armoury, including Gold Eagle permanent camouflages for US Battleships.

The new update also starts a new Clan Battles Season in 7 vs 7 format for Tier X ships.  Furthermore, Division Commanders will now have additional options to invite mercenaries – players outside their Clan to join their Divisions for Clan Battles.

With the release of Update 0.9.9, players will also be able to play on all World of Warships servers within one game client, without the need to install separate game instances for each region. The game server will be determined by the currently selected account in the Wargaming Game Center.

BATH, England – 1 Oct. 2020 – Jetboard Joust, a joyous fusion of classic arcade shoot-’em-ups and modern roguelikes from publisher Freedom! Games and developer BitBull sets a course for Steam on PC and Mac on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020 and Nintendo Switch in 2021. 

A follow-up three decades in the making, Jetboard Joust springs into action 31 years following the launch of 1989’s ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, and Amstrad CPC title Skateboard Joust. Soar around circular arenas on a levitating jetboard and defend civilians from alien raiders. Wield an arsenal of heavy weaponry to protect the skies while balancing propulsive bursts to evade enemy fire and maintain altitude across a gauntlet of procedurally-generated levels.

Dogfight with more than 50 varieties of intergalactic invaders, including hulking mutants created from abductees then face off against massive bosses. Once the enemy armadas are defeated, challenging guardians appear as one final obstacle between the hero and a treasure trove of loot, weapons, and currency that will prove invaluable in overcoming the trials ahead.

Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional) localizations are also in the works. A Nintendo Switch version is also currently in development and primed for release in 2021.

ABOUT AFTER MIDNIGHT

After Midnight is a game that mixes turn-based strategy with puzzle gameplay and a plot that’s explained in the style of a visual novel. The gamer takes on the role of medical professionals such as a doctor, a nurse, and a paramedic, and uses their passive and active combat skills to fight mutated viruses that invaded the hospital. Strategic thinking, planning your actions, and teamwork are the keys to success.
