Electro Ride: The Neon Racing has a Nintendo Switch release date

Ultimate Games S.A. has announced that Electro Ride: The Neon Racing, a neon arcade racer with retro-futuristic vibes, will launch on Nintendo Switch on November 27th this year. Players can expect, among others, a dynamic driving model, vehicles and race tracks inspired by Eastern Bloc countries, multiple game modes and an original synthwave soundtrack.

In July this year Electro Ride: The Neon Racing debuted on PC and was very well received by players. The racing game created by Sylwester Osik currently has a 100% positive rating on Steam. Ultimate Games S.A. is responsible for converting and publishing the game on Nintendo Switch.

“Electro Ride is a neon racer full of vivid colours, high speeds and colour-sensitive nitro stripes. While it is, of course, a very arcade game, physics also plays an important role. Each car has a slightly different feel, and sometimes it is necessary to hit the brakes. The game is set in an alternative world, which combines the grey reality of 20th century Middle-Eastern European countries with retro-futuristic neon madness” – said Sylwester Osik, the creator of the game.

Electro Ride: The Neon Racing – Switch Trailer:

The cars are modelled on vehicles developed in the 20th century in Eastern Bloc countries, including the Polish People’s Republic, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria and the USSR. The creator of the game emphasizes that motoring fans shouldn’t have any problems with recognising the inspirations behind the neon speed demons. The tracks themselves are also based on cities which belonged to the communist sphere of influence in the years 1945-1989 (including Warsaw, East Berlin, Prague, Sofia and Moscow).

Electro Ride: The Neon Racing offers the players several very different game modes. The main one is the extensive story mode, which takes approximately 4 hours to complete on the easiest difficulty setting. In this mode, the players compete in various types of races, and from time to time they have to face a boss. Additional modes are also available, including time attack, last man standing, and ghost race. Electro Ride: The Neon Racing also features split-screen multiplayer.

The game will appeal to, among others, fans of racers in the style of Horizon Chase Turbo, OutDrive or Neon Drive. Electro Ride: The Neon Racing is, however, a completely unique proposition, with an unprecedented retro-futuristic vision of reality. The racer’s style and feel has been additionally amplified by the original synthwave soundtrack composed by Maciej Kulesza, who is also working on, among others, the music for Shadow Warrior 3” – added Sylwester Osik.

Electro Ride: The Neon Racing – main features:

  • a neon-filled racing madness;
  • an alternative, retro-futuristic reality;
  • 21 different cars;
  • varied game modes (including story, time attack and last man standing);
  • 20 race tracks located in the countries of the Eastern Bloc;
  • split-screen multiplayer;
  • an original synthwave soundtrack.

The digital launch (Nintendo eShop) of Electro Ride: The Neon Racing has been scheduled for November 27th 2020.

Dive into the history of Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, Smash TV and More in Documentary Insert Coin

Documentary Shines a Spotlight on Midway Games, the Influential Studio that Changed the Course of an Entire Industry

NEW YORK, NY (NOVEMBER 25, 2020) — Today, Cargo Film & Releasing — a global film sales and distribution agency — is inviting fans of gaming history to “get over here” and check out Insert Coin, a documentary that offers viewers a peek into the history of legendary development studio Midway Games. Available today via Alamo Drafthouse’s Alamo On Demand Digital Release, Insert Coin takes viewers back to the early days of the groundbreaking studio, famous for legendary titles like Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, and Narc.

Director Joshua Tsui has crafted Insert Coin as a love letter, time machine, and insider’s look at a studio that created pop culture giants that would fundamentally change how we played video games. The early 90s were like the Wild West era of the gaming industry, and no studio represented that ethos more than Midway Games with its wildly controversial (and hugely successful) titles like Mortal Kombat, a game that thrilled players and shocked parental advisory groups across the globe with its over the top violence and colorful cast.

Tsui was there when it all went down, having worked on the Mortal Kombat franchise and even lent his face to Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat IV. Insert Coin features interviews with past Midway team members, including Eugene Jarvis (Defender and Robotron: 2084), Mark Turmell (SmashTV, NBA Jam, NFL Blitz), John Tobias (co-creator Mortal Kombat series), George Petro (NARC, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Revolution X), and others. Also prominently featured are industry insiders Carly Kucerek (Coin-Operated Americans) and novelist and screenwriter Ernest Cline (Ready Player One, Armada).

“We’re incredibly proud of this film and it was a pleasure working with Joshua Tsui and his team,” said David Piperni, Founder of Cargo Film & Releasing. “As we kick off the latest console generation, we hope Insert Coin serves as a fun and informative ride that takes players back the era when gaming exploded as a mainstream pop-culture phenomenon.“

“Putting together Insert Coin was a wonderful trip down memory lane, but it’s also so much more than that,” said Joshua Tsui, Insert Coin’s director. “This film documents a true paradigm shift in gaming, and Midway Games was instrumental in bringing fun, competitive titles from the arcade to the living room. I’m beyond excited to share this journey with our viewers, and hope they have as much fun watching it as we did making it.”

It’s hard to overstate the impact Midway Games had upon the gaming industry and the entertainment industry as a whole. Mortal Kombat went from a controversial arcade game to an iconic IP that spawned numerous sequels, theatrical films, comic books, action figures, and cartoon series. NBA JAM, Rampage, and SmashTV brought co-op and multiplayer to living rooms worldwide, allowing players to experience the thrill of the arcade in the comfort of their own homes. Insert Coin explores the rise and fall of the epochal studio, featuring interviews with team members and industry icons, footage and insider stories from the early days of the company, and how it went from dominating the industry to becoming the stuff of legend.

More info about Insert Coin is available on Facebook and the official website

Sword of the Necromancer launch moves to January 28th, 2021 on PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4

Explore the art and music that brings the game to life
 in the second developer diary

Barcelona, Spain – November 25th, 2020 – Game developers JanduSoft S.L and Grimorio of Games have announced that their monster summoning action-RPG Sword of the Necromancer will now launch on January 28th 2021 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, a month later than originally planned. This extra time will allow for the developers to add a final layer of polish to bring the game to its ideal state.

In the meantime, the second developer diary for Sword of the Necromancer has been released showcasing the inspirations and direction of the art and music that adorns their impending monster summoning dungeon-crawler. This is the second of three videos to be rolled out before launch where the development team provides insight into the making of Sword of the Necromancer.

“As much as we want to get Sword of the Necromancer into the hands of the players, it is more important that the game meets our vision first,” said the developers at JanduSoft S.L and Grimorio of Games. “Releasing in January 2021, allows us to refine the game experience further and also avoid the craziness of the next-gen consoles launch window. Rest assured that the final product will be worth the wait.”

Sword of the Necromancer is a dungeon-crawler action-RPG with roguelike elements where you can revive your defeated enemies to make them fight alongside you. Turn your foes into allies using the forbidden powers of the Sword of the Necromancer and help the rogue Tama reach the dungeon’s depths to summon enough power to bring her beloved priestess Koko back from the dead. Assemble a small army of monsters, equip yourself with weapons and relics, and level up to take on the guardians that stand between you and your goal.

Each attempt gets you closer to the Necromancer. Upon death you’ll lose all your equipped weapons and monsters, but you will retain part of the level you achieved in your run. As you scour deeper through the dungeon you’ll uncover more of Tama and Koko’s past. Don’t want to go it alone? Then use the Flask of Homunculus to create a copy of yourself and play with a friend in local co-op! Additionally, there are IR codes that can be scanned to make the game easier. Or harder. The choice is yours!
