Sinister New Content, Curse of the Serpent Queen, is Slithering into Legendary MMO Metin2 This Month

The perilous continent of Yohara bears witness to its greatest challenge yet, as today, publisher Gameforge announces brand new content to their legendary massively multiplayer online action role-playing game Metin2. On February 23, 2021, Content Update: Curse of the Serpent Queen introduces a treacherous new zone, deadly new dungeons, ruthless new bosses, and new high-level armor to aid you on your quest to vanquish Metin2’s most fatal foe yet in the conquest of Yohara!

The deadly and devious Serpent Queen Nethis, right hand to Sung Mahi, craves power for her leader above all else. Having heard of a powerful strategic foothold in the far east on the continent of Yohara, Nethis has set out on a journey in search of an ancient temple to establish control in Sung Ma’s name and recover a treasure that could turn the tides of battle in their favor. However, the lust for power is fraught with peril – upon reaching the temple, a cruel curse befell Nethis and her army, twisting their bodies and turning them into horrific serpentine creatures. Now it is up to the bravest warriors to wrest control of the temple from Nethis, destroy the Serpent Queen and her battalion, or suffer the same fate and join her ranks!

Metin2: Conquerors of Yohara – Curse of the Serpent Queen brings a viper’s den of exciting new features:

  • New Zone – Yilad Pass: Venture along the cursed, winding road to gain access to the Serpent Temple and experience a new, thrilling storyline. Keep your guard up as new quests and Chieftains with their polluted army will make your journey a dangerous one. Warriors adventurous enough to make the trek will be rewarded with new legendary armor to aid them.
  • New Dungeon – Serpent Temple: At the center of Yilad Pass lies the impregnable lair of the Serpent Queen: The Serpent Temple. Battling with new, slithery, serpentine monsters using challenging new mechanics across several sub-basements will net adventurers rare drops such as Serpent equipment and other rare goodies. But be quick about it – unless you craft at the Serpent Statue, you must work against the clock to evade the curse of the Serpent Queen!
  • New Dungeon – Mysterious Dungeon: A twisted maze awaits you in Nam Gwang Chasm, bursting with rapidly spawning different types of monsters, high-level weapons, and a new, mysterious talisman!
  • New Armor Set – Serpent Equipment: What is a new update without shiny, new armor? Deck your character in the finest and most powerful serpentine armor with room for several bonuses that can be upgraded

PUBG MOBILE COMMUNITY MEMBERS FIND LOVE, FRIENDSHIP AND MORE THROUGH VALENTINES EVENT

New YouTube video recaps “Dream Team” campaign, telling player stories – including marriage proposal via PUBG MOBILE in-game surprise

LOS ANGELES – Feb. 15, 2021 – Today, the team behind the world’s most popular mobile game PUBG MOBILE debuts a heartfelt video about love and friendship between squad mates. Set in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, this exclusive recap showcases several instances of PUBG MOBILE players expressing their gratitude towards one another, including multiple guest appearances from popular content creators. Fans can check out the video through the official PUBG MOBILE YouTube channel here.

Earlier this month, PUBG MOBILE united players around the world to create unique in-game surprises for their cherished teammates. As part of the content update Version 1.2 “Dream Team: My Heartfelt Message” event, players had the chance to implement customized pop-up banners, advertisements and aircraft cards for their friends to see in-game. Squad mates were charmed with confessions of love, birthday wishes, expressions of gratitude – and even marriage proposals! This is also the first of its kind in mobile games to express the hearts of players in such a special way. During this event, PUBG MOBILE expressed its care, attention, and respect to its players. Players also expressed their appreciation, support and trust in their teammates through this event.

The “Dream Team Surprise” even see how popular influencers Powerbang, Bennymoza, Bangpen, ZooTay and more expressed their gratitude to those closest to them. Below are some of the surprise stories that players can tune into:

Player’s Surprise Story 1:

Lucas and Natalia from South America met during a PUBG MOBILE live stream and gradually became a couple.

On the eve of Valentine’s Day, when they were in-game as usual, Lucas gave a heartfelt confession to his love, Natalia, and surprised her with a marriage proposal. With PUBG MOBILE as a witness, they had a successful engagement and spent a very meaningful Valentine’s Day.

“I just want to say that I love you, and you are the most special person I have nowadays in my life. I thank God for you showing up on my PUBG MOBILE livestream. Since then, you have become my partner in duo games and also my partner in life. Bringing you from Rio Grande do Sul to Minas was the best choice I’ve made. I want to thank you for everything that you have done for me and what you are still doing, and say that you are an amazing woman. I have this special surprise for you. I hope you like it!”

Player’s Surprise Story 2:

Powerbang is a popular streamer in PUBG MOBILE. Powerbang and his wife Courtney have been together for over thirteen years. During this period, Courtney has witnessed Powerbang’s career development from the very beginning, to eventually becoming a viral internet celebrity in PUBG MOBILE in North America, which couldn’t have happened without Courtney’s support and dedication to Powerbang behind the scenes. This time, PUBG MOBILE specifically reached out to Powerbang to help him plan his Valentine’s Day surprise to express his gratitude to his wife for her support over the years!

“Courtney and I have been married for 14 years and have known each other since high school. We have 3 kids together and both of us run companies that we established. We have been through a lot together and are always excited for life’s next adventure.”

Player’s Surprise Story 3:

Benny and Bangpen are two Indonesian streamers. They first met and got to know each other in 2018.At that time Benny was a pro player in Point Blank, and participated in the tournament while Bangpen was the host. Later Benny decided to leave the professional competition and become a PUBG MOBILE content creator.

Bangpen was an entertainment YouTuber at that time before he started to do game content, mainly PUBG MOBILE as well. Because the two enjoyed PUBG MOBILE, they became closer and often played games and made videos together. Whenever they felt lost, or their channel growth stagnated and video views dropped, they would encourage each other to try to become better creators. Now, the two of them have become PUBG MOBILE internet celebrities.

Now, Benny and Bangpen are also neighbors. They visit each other often, and their girlfriend and wife are as close as family. PUBG MOBILE has made their bromance even deeper, and Benny wanted to show his feelings for Bangpen by preparing an in-game surprise with PUBG MOBILE.

“Benny Moza is a very calm person.

Meanwhile, Bangpen is a very friendly and hilarious guy, but he can also be a good listener as a friend. I can talk about all sorts of things with him, from funny things, games, and even businesses. Now we are neighbors, and so we are now even closer, just like a family.”

Player’s Surprise Story 4:

Rami and Rima are a pair of siblings from the Middle East. The sister brings her brother along to find his worth in PUBG MOBILE, and help him become an influential person.

Rami is the younger brother of Rima. He grew up watching his sister became a successful streamer loved by the community, and she inspired and helped him to became a successful streamer as well. For that reason, he wants to thank her and make her happy as an appreciation.

Player’s Surprise Story 5:

Asad and Nimra are a young couple from Pakistan and a popular streamer couple in the Pakistani community. They are together because of their common love for PUBG MOBILE. On Valentine’s Day, Asad prepared a surprise video for his beloved wife inside the game, and also built a love confession wall using Rune skills.

“Me, Asad, and my lovely wife, Nimra, are the definition of young love. In fact, we are actually Pakistan’s most popular young couple! We started by playing PUBG MOBILE together, fell in love, and are now happily married. Mutual interests always play an important role in strengthening any relationship – we actually first bonded over our shared love of playing PUBG MOBILE. Most people exchange phone numbers when they first meet, but we exchanged our PUBG MOBILE IDs! It’s incredible to see what came from spending quality time together by playing PUBG MOBILE.”

Player’s Surprise Story 6:

Egoist and Kızıl are a Turkish couple who met and got to know each other in PUBG MOBILE, and the game is an important bond for them from which they build their understanding and trust.

I have been with my girlfriend for 6 years and we have been playing PUBG MOBILE from the very beginning of our relationship. We are a fun couple. We both enjoy video games a lot. Thus our biggest fights happen when one of our phone’s battery dies while playing a game. 😊

Player’s Surprise Story 7:

ZooTay and Sakuma from North America

“ZooTay and I met in 2017 and started playing PUBG MOBILE together after I dislocated my elbow. This really strengthened our relationship, as we worked together to get to a spot in the PUBG MOBILE competitive community. This led to us travel around the globe together to various global LAN events and allowed us to create a sustainable way of living. We live together in Houston, Texas with our 2 cats. We plan to pursue gaming and Esports together, with ZooTay competing and I’ll help him with managing socials and scheduling.

PUBG MOBILE is available to download for free on the App Store and Google Play

Additional details on what players can expect from the upcoming Chivalry 2 Cross-Play Closed Beta event include:

  • Cross-Play Across All Platforms: Cross-Play smashes the boundaries between PC and console, allowing players to face-off on the battlefield together, regardless of platform.
  • Size Matters: Experience the chaos of epic medieval battlefields, charge forth to the frontlines of battle, and experience true mass-scale combat supporting up to 64-players designed to capture the intensity and scope of “The Battle of the Bastards” from Game of Thrones.
  • Master Blade, Bow, or… Chicken: Your arsenal expands with the new subclass system that provides more variety than ever before. Four base classes expand to 12 subclasses, including the Skirmisher, a melee/ranged hybrid – to the Poleman, a fighter who keeps foes at bay with long-distance melee.
  • The World is Your Weapon: Own the field with a variety of heavy siege engines including Ballistae, Catapults, Trebuchet, Battering Rams, Mantlets, Spike Traps, Ladders and more. Utilize traps to defend, including spikes, bear traps, and more. You can even deal damage with a smorgasbord of “found items” on the battlefield. Try downing a cup of mead and deal a killing blow with the empty chalice or finish off a foe by smashing him in the face with a flaming chicken!
  • New Map – The Siege of Rudhelm: In the first public hands-on of Chivalry 2 since PAX East 2020, experience the return of the fan-favourite Team Objective mode and join attacking or defending teams as 64-players vie for control of a well-fortified castle in a never-before-seen map.
  • Many Modes: In addition to Team Objective mode, closed beta participants can also sharpen their skills in a variety of other modes, including Team Deathmatch and Free-for-All.

Chivalry 2 is a multiplayer first-person slasher inspired by epic medieval movie battles. Players are thrust into the action of every iconic moment of the era –from clashing swords, to storms of flaming arrows, sprawling castle sieges, and more. Dominate massive battlefields while catapults tear the earth apart as players lay siege to castles, set fire to villages, and slaughter filthy peasants in the return of Team Objective maps.

Improving on the original genre-defining Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, Chivalry 2 invites players to master the blade with an all-new and improved combat system that combines real-time strikes and a free-flowing combo system to speed up the action and let players become a whirlwind of steel on the battlefield. Created with the ability to fight multiple foes in mind, Chivalry 2’s combat mixes the best of both FPS and fighting game genres for an unmatched melee experience.

Volcanoids offers a new twist on the long running and highly popular open world survival sandbox genre. Players are on a volcanic island that explodes every 25 minutes, completely destroying everything above ground. To survive, players live and work out of a mobile drill ship that will allow them to travel around the island and hide during the explosions.

The game has been on Steam Early Access for a little over a year now. We recently checked out the game as the developers just released a major update overhauling the combat.

While Volcanoids is advertised as a survival title, the game is more focused on the crafting and exploration elements. Traditional survival mechanics like hunger and thirst have been dropped in favour of the 25-minute explosion timer. The consequence of ignoring the timer is punishing. Any items, players, and mobile drill ships left above ground are obliterated. Time and risk management are big parts of Volcanoids’ gameplay, especially when playing alone. Mid to high tier crafting must be done while the drill ship is deployed above ground and vulnerable to attack, but players are under time pressure to explore to gather resources before the explosion. It’s a tense balance, but an entertaining one.

The crafting system is solid. The bulk of the crafting must be done on the drill ship using automated machines as workbenches can only output basic items. Crafting is tied with base management, as the drill ship has limited power and slots for modules needed for production, research, defense, refineries, and storage. The tech tree doesn’t offer any noteworthy innovation, but it is solid none the less. The pacing is excellent as it never increases exponentially just to extend the length of the game. Currently, it offers three tiers, with each tier unlocking new items. I really like how the tech tree rarely makes old items obsolete, but either carves out a niche for the item or offers upgrades like better ammunition.

The level design is decent so far. Volcanoids offers a mix of a 2D underworld, a 3D overworld, and several 3D underground caves. The 2D underworld connects all the 3D maps together and provides some resource gathering opportunities while players wait out the volcano explosion. The 3D overworld is on the rougher side right now. There are a lot of reused assets which make areas blend together after several hours. The caves break up the gameplay, but they too tend to look the same after a while. The one saving grace is how the level’s resources are reset with each volcano explosion. It is a simple solution to the age old problem of exhausted resources that plagues many open world survival sandbox games.

Volcanoids’ combat is in a decent place right now. Bots are found in towns and endlessly spawn from hostile drill ships. Bots spawning from ships tend to be quite aggressive, patrolling around and attacking the player’s ship once enough of them are gathered. They aren’t smart, but they are incredibly relentless.

The gunplay feels good. The developers have opted to use a smaller number of guns, but a large variety of ammunition to keep older weapons relevant and give weapons a little extra flexibility. The projectile based weapon system can make firefights chaotic, but the mobility heavy combat feels good. The weapon balance is still a work in progress though. The submachine guns feel a touch underpowered still considering their material cost. The grenades on the other hand are wildly overpowered considering their cheap material cost and how early players get access to them. I found carrying thirty or more grenades and relying on them almost exclusively when attacking an enemy drill ship was one of the most reliable tactics.

Volcanoids is generally not a difficult game to learn. The initial tutorial is very thorough, except for a few notable exceptions. The very first explosion timer is a bit short. There is barely enough time to get everything done if players understand the information perfectly. Tacking on an extra three to five minutes and providing clearer indicators on how to get the drill ship underground would be helpful. Second, the tutorial does not make it clear enough that sending the drill ship underground while players explore is the default tactic. This important bit of information should not be buried in the in-game manual. The in-game manual on the other hand is incredibly extensive. My only complaint is I would have preferred to see slightly more detailed information about turret ranges, as the game currently offers very vague descriptors instead of actual numbers.

The visual presentation is excellent so far. The game offers a brighter take on Steampunk. Hopefully more bot designs will be introduced in the future, as they generally look alike except for colouration. Without a doubt, the best visual effect in the game right now is the transition between the ash covered wasteland just after an explosion to the lush and vibrant landscape. The change is so subtle that it’s easily ignored, but it is always a pleasure to stop and admire the landscape and realize how much it had changed.

The audio needs some work. The music is decent, but the sound effects have some issues. The sound effects sound okay, but the sound effects related to the underground vehicle have an odd popping noise.

Volcanoids is wading into the crowded open world survival sandbox space with a unique take on the genre. Halfway into their planned two year early access, Volcanoids is in a good spot. It is already in an enjoyable, albeit short, state. Besides more content, most of the areas in need of attention are balancing and visual variety. The game is already worth considering for those willing to take a risk on an Early Access title. For those who prefer to wait, Volcanoids likely has a bright future ahead of it.
