The Cycle: Frontier’s Final Closed Beta Begins Today on Steam & Epic Games Store

YAGER’s upcoming FPS brings the thrill and tension of high-stakes PvPvE to a broad audience

BERLIN March 16, 2022 – The final closed beta for YAGER’s high-stakes first-person shooter The Cycle: Frontier kicks off today on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. You’ll find new features and content added since last year’s closed beta, which was experienced by nearly 350,000 players, helping to make The Cycle: Frontier the most wishlisted free-to-play game currently on Steam.

Register for Closed Beta: Steam | Epic Games Store

Discover a unique blend of PvE, PvP and co-op multiplayer gameplay in persistent matches with seamless matchmaking on a beautiful sci-fi world where every action can have massive consequences. The Cycle: Frontier’s new closed beta runs today through April 4, featuring:

  • New In-Match Activities: Fortuna III is getting even more dangerous! Call down laser drills and oil pumps (teased in today’s new trailer) to mine for resources, but be ready to defend your big payday from all those coming to steal it out from under you.
  • New Faction Campaigns: Three new faction campaigns will guide you through your first steps on the surface, all while unlocking valuable new gear and insight into the lore of The Cycle: Frontier.
  • New Monster Variations: Familiar fauna return with a few (deadly) surprises. New creature variations provide even greater challenges and rewards for those bold enough to take them on.
  • New Map Design: Both Bright Sands and Crescent Falls have been revamped for better traversal, with improved visuals to strike the perfect balance between Fortuna III’s danger and beauty.
  • New Enhancements: Experience improved combat balance, enemy AI, loot, and tutorials, as well as visual and audio optimizations, bug fixes and more, all driven by community feedback.

Welcome to Fortuna III, a treacherous world of alien beauty where the stakes are high and the rewards even higher. Drop down to the surface and fill your pockets with spoils, but beware: only those who evac alive keep their prizes. Mistakes will be punished quickly and cost you dearly, but every loss is a lesson learned that will make you better.

Be on the lookout for bloodthirsty beasts, a deadly radioactive storm, and other greedy players armed to the teeth. Prospect for riches alone, squad up with friends, and make temporary alliances with strangers – or go on the hunt and steal their hard-fought loot for yourself. You make the decisions: which path to take, which objective to tackle, which fight to pick or avoid, and when to evac.

At your home base on Prospect Station, you can use your newfound resources to upgrade your gear and buy new equipment. Increase your reputation with a variety of factions to unlock new combat options, and customize your loadout with the perfect tools. Your next drop to the surface is always just a couple of clicks away, and thanks to persistent maps and near-instant matchmaking, there’s always time for just one more game. Prospecting is a risky venture, but fortune favors the bold in the eye of the storm.

Learn more about what’s new in The Cycle: Frontier closed beta on the official YAGER blog. Keep up with the latest updates by following the game on Twitter and YouTube, and join the conversation with the devs on Discord.

SHARING IN THE SUCCESS: KOWLOON NIGHTS AND DEVELOPERS SURPASS $150MM IN REVENUE; SIGNS EIGHT NEW TITLES

[16 March 2022] – Today, Kowloon Nights announced a new milestone, having generated $150MM in revenue across their portfolio to date. The funding source also announced the addition of eight new titles to the roster from the likes of Aggro Crab, Kitfox Games and League of Geeks. The fund’s success highlights the foundational values of Kowloon Nights – fair terms, a developer-first approach, and focus on supporting studios in their self-publishing efforts.

Kowloon’s vision was to fundamentally change the way games are funded,” said Alexis Garavaryan, CEO of Kowloon Nights. “This milestone demonstrates the validity and sustainability of a model that offers fair terms to developers while also putting the creators first and ensuring that players remember the names of the incredibly talented developers behind the games.”

On top of a strong portfolio of released content, the slate of titles through Kowloon Nights continues to grow with the addition of eight new projects, all unique in voice, vision and scope. These talented creators are developing experiences that cover a wide variety of genres and play styles, from the first-person factory automation found in Techtonica (Fire Hose Games), to the music-action RPG stylings of Sword of Symphony (Stephen Ddungu).

Kowloon Nights has been an ideal partner for us. They’re easy to work with, offer developer-friendly terms, and we retain all creative control + IP ownership. If you’re an indie developer with ambitious plans, you’d have a tough time finding a better funding partner than Kowloon.” – Eitan Glinert, Fire Hose Games

Ever since my game’s early social media success, I’ve received a lot of good offers, but Kowloon Nights was the only one to present all the benefits of staying independent, but with the backing and support to allow me to continue working on the game full-time. It’s game-dev heaven.” – Stephen Ddungu, Sword of Symphony

The most recent additions to the Kowloon Nights roster include the following showcase studios and projects (in their own words):

Aggro Crab:  Aggro Crab is an unprofessional game studio and menace to the industry. Based in Seattle, WA, we make punchy stylized action games with a satirical twist. We previously released Going Under and are currently working on our secret second project!

Chasing Rats Games:  Chasing Rats Games is an indie studio based in Montreal developing games that stand out due to their audacious art-style, distinct gameplay and original multiplayer elements. We have recently launched Struggling and are currently hard at work on Worship, a cultist-themed take on the roguelike genre inspired by Pikmin!

Fire Hose Games:  Founded in 2008 in Boston, Fire Hose Games brings beauty and depth to the genres we love. Our current project is Techtonica, a factory building and automation game set in the bioluminescent, cavernous depths of an alien planet.

Kitfox Games:  Kitfox Games is a small indie studio in Montreal, Canada, who has released seven titles on Steam and consoles, sometimes as developer and sometimes as publisher. They’re probably best known right now as the developers of Boyfriend Dungeon and future publishers of the upcoming graphical version of Dwarf Fortress. Their work with Kowloon is on an unannounced title. All we can tell you is that it has simulation elements!

League of Geeks:  League of Geeks (you can call us LoG) is a ‘Triple-i’ videogame development studio and publisher in Melbourne, Australia. Most well-known for our seminal digital board-game, Armello, we’re now working on not one, but two new IP with our pals at Kowloon Nights.

Stephen Ddungu:  I’m a self-taught game-dev, musician and animator based in the UK. I’m currently solo-developing Sword Of Symphony; a musical action RPG where players fight with the power of music.

Webble Games:  Webble Games is an indie game studio based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. We are happily working on our passion project right now and cannot wait to share it with the world!

To further aid partners in their goals to self-publish, Kowloon Nights announced a suite of available support tools and services from Kepler Interactive, including: press distribution, influencer outreach, business development, and more. This partnership further expands the empowerment and control given to independent studios looking for a world-class and developer-centric alternative to the traditional publishing models that exist.
“It’s been a blast working with Kowloon Nights on bringing Sifu to life. Not only were they supportive of the vision from the beginning, but the team was hugely helpful throughout production, supporting the decision to delay the release, helping us a lot with Chinese cultural topics, and more. The way they fight for their developers and projects, they should be called Kowloon Knights!” – Pierre de Margerie, Sloclap

Going forward, we plan to continue making further adjustments across all versions of the game, in addition to rebalancing other areas — such as vehicles commonly used in PvP combat. Stay tuned for details.

For Honor’s Golden Age Approaches in Year 6 Season 1

Updates include cross-platform play, new game mode, and more

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — March 16, 2022 — Today, Ubisoft announced the launch of For Honor Year 6 Season 1 Golden Age on March 17. The story begins with a relic, an ancient chalice, that takes players back to the Golden Age of Heathmoor to discover the origin of the Wardens through Lord Ramiel, the very first of their kind. Players can find out uncover more of the narrative during a new launch event, The Oath of Wyverndale. On top of the event, Phase 1 of For Honor’s cross-platform play deployment plan comes at season launch, unifying three player pools for matchmaking across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

For this season, cross-platform play will be available for all multiplayer modes, apart from co-op experiences such as Custom Match (only Phase 1), Arcade, Training Mode, and the campaign. Phase 2 will allow players to group up with cross-platform friends and will come later this year.

The Oath of Wyverndale includes a new game mode, free event pass, lootable weapons, and more. The game mode will take place on the Cathedral Map, where players will team up to challenge the Hero of the Golden Age, Lord Ramiel, in battle. The team that proves worthy of Ramiel’s ranks will get the chance to corner the enemy team and finish them off. Beginning in Year 6, a new feature allows players to apply Lord Ramiel’s Hero Skin, available at season launch for 25,000 Steel. The Battle Pass will also be available at launch with 100 tiers of different rewards reflecting the season’s theme.

With over 25 million players, For Honor is available on PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, as well as on Ubisoft+, the Ubisoft subscription service. For Honor is also playable on PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X | S through backward compatibility.
