Hell Pie Hooks Up with Electric Callboy for the Ultimate Metal Collaboration

Dueren, Germany – June 21st, 2022 – Headup and Sluggerfly are pleased to announce a collaboration with Electric Callboy, the award-winning metal band known for their hilarious tracks and music videos, for upcoming 3D platformer Hell Pie. Fusing Hell Pie and Electric Callboy’s shared love of all things metal, the collaboration will see four skins included in the game based on the band’s latest songs.

The skins will be based on the mullet-heavy Hypa Hypa, the head-pumping We Got The Moves, the gym-core extravaganza Pump It and the sci-fi-suited song that is Spaceman and will complementHell Pie’s offbeat and spectacularly funny flavour perfectly.

Hell Pie is an old-school-inspired, heavy metal infused 3D platformer that takes bad taste to the next level. You grab the horns of Nate, the ‘Demon of Bad Taste’, tasked with gathering the disgusting ingredients for Satan’s infamous birthday pie. Venture out into the overworld and do whatever it takes to ensure those ingredients are secured in time, or there’ll be hell to pay!

Luckily Nate isn’t alone on this quest, with his ‘pet’ angel Nugget ready and able to offer support. Nugget offers his holy insight when needed but, more importantly, is chained to Nate, so he can be used as a grappling hook or swung around as a weapon. Nate can also equip horns he finds across the world to give him new hellish abilities, from charging through enemies and boulders , to gliding through the air. Together, Nate and Nugget will explore wild environments, meet tons of unsavoury enemies and characters, and witness some truly shocking sights in the seriously twisted take on the classic mascot platformer.

XEL, the Time-Hopping Sci-Fi Adventure, Gets a Release Date and All-New Gameplay Trailer

 A love letter to old-school Zelda titles, XEL arrives summer 2022

Crash landing on Windows PC via Steam and GOG on 12th July and Nintendo Switch on July 14th, 2022, XEL tells the epic sci-fi journey of Reid, a young woman who becomes stranded on a strange and exotic alien world. Overview

Aaaah, kids these days don’t know how good they have it. Back in my time, you have to play video games at the arcade and every run was a microtransaction. Coin after coin. A few lives, one chance, and if you messed up that nickel was lost for good. But those days had their charm. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Contra, Pitfall, and so on. So why am I reminiscing about these ancient times? It’s simple – right now I have a game in front of me that perfectly carries a charm from such an era, along with that difficulty, art style, and a signature “just one more go and I’m done” mark.

Story

The whole story campaign of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is a simple nostalgia flashback. For a game with such a moderate length, they manage to cram in almost every character from TMNT cartoons. The story is pretty straightforward and it starts with Rocksteady and Bebop attacking Channel 6 news station and trying to reassemble Krang’s android body part by part. Chasing that duo and tackling Krang & Shredder will have you going from the streets of Manhattan to city rooftops and sewers – all the way to Dimension X.

Gameplay

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge managed to impress me plenty of times during my playthrough and one of the first was on the character selection screen. Besides the obvious selection of all Turtles, the game also gives you a choice of playing as Splinter and April O’Neil – including one secret unlockable character with a hockey mask (fans of TMNT will undoubtedly know who I’m talking about). The other thing that surprised me is the fluidity of gameplay, the game doesn’t have those usual flaws of arcade beat ’em ups where enemies can easily corner your character(s) or gang up on you. Each of the playable characters will have different stats in terms of weapon range, speed and power although eventually once you master a character, those stats will be far from game-changing.

What else, hm? Ah yes, skills and levels. As you go through the game, you will level up by defeating enemies, finishing levels, and completing side quests. That way you will unlock HP increase, special meter increase, and variations of your special attack. The levels are replayable if you feel the need to complete challenges, do some level-specific achievements, or finish side quests. Speaking of those, they usually boil down to finding a specific set of collectibles for a certain cameo character. You have to find those characters hidden somewhere in the levels and only then you can find them on the world map so they can give you a quest. Sounds too complicated? Not really if you follow my super special exploit. And that is…….wait for it…..wreck everything! Almost every breakable object in the level will have either a pizza to boost your health, a cameo character a collectible, or a special attack powerup. In any case, if it looks like one part of the scenery in the level can be destroyed, it’s better not to think too much. Do it just to be sure.

Visuals

There are just not enough words to describe how it is when playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. It is everything. Gorgeous. Fluid. Colorful. Detailed. Chaotic. Fun. Engaging. Pretty much every other positive adjective that you can think of. And a big part of that is thanks to the specific arcade retro visuals that are more finely tuned than one might expect. Retro but not “I guess that looks like something” retro. Colorful but not “my eyes are bleeding” colorful. A joy to look at as it is to play.

Audio

The soundtrack of the game is on par with the quality of the gameplay and visuals although this segment of the game had some aces up its sleeve. Like two members of the Wu-Tang Clan contributing to the soundtrack of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge and even Tee Lopes leaving its mark here. In any case, one thing that will not leave you indifferent is hearing that TMNT theme and opening intro every time you start up the game.

Overall

The hardest thing about writing this review for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is trying to find something bad about it. A flaw or a defect, anything. I hold the opinion that no game is perfect and that perfection is something that’s rarely accomplished in art – and yes, that includes video games. But damn if this game doesn’t come close to perfection. Even if I would want to single out the average length of it, it is still debatable since the replay value is enormous considering all the challenges, achievements, and characters the game throws at you. Even if arcade beat ’em ups aren’t your usual cup of tea, I’d still say to give this a go since the amount of love and details that went into this game is nothing short of impressive.

Iconic Brand to Announce New Games, Merchandise, and Collaborations as it Celebrates its Golden Anniversary

New York, NY (June 21, 2022) Atari® — one of the world’s most iconic consumer brands and interactive entertainment producers — is excited to preview today the line-up of announcements and reveals that are set to take place over the next two weeks as the company its founding 50 years ago on June 27, 1972.

Following the recent announcement of Atari Mania, a brand new adventure title for PC and Switch that challenges players to complete 150 microgames that merge and twist classic Atari games and characters, the publisher is preparing for more reveals and first looks at some upcoming projects ranging from video games, strategic new partners, licensed merchandise, and new additions to the expanding Atari XP library of rare or never-released Atari 2600 cartridges. In addition, Atari will offer special anniversary discounts on games, merchandise, and the Atari VCS.

“Reaching 50 years is a special moment for Atari, for the industry, and for fans of video games from across the globe,” said Wade Rosen, Atari CEO. “We plan to continue celebrating all year, but the week of June 27 will include the announcement of two amazing new titles, the release of a special interview with our founder, Nolan Bushnell, some special collabs, and previews of new merch and collectibles that I know will excite fans.” 

Behind the leadership of Rosen, the team at Atari has launched six new PC and console titles in the last eleven months, including five titles from the Atari: Recharged series and the critically acclaimed puzzle-platformer Kombinera. Atari has also reintroduced 16 classic titles to PC and streaming services over that period, as the company returns to its roots in game development and publishing. 

Announced in late 2021, the Atari XP initiative also expects to see new products in its line of rare and never-released Atari 2600 cartridges. Iconic Times Square Location Will be Reimagined in The Sandbox as a Virtual Hub for Community, Art and Commerce Curated by TIMEPieces

NEW YORK and HONG KONG – June 21, 2022 – The Sandbox, a leading decentralized gaming virtual world and a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, and TIMEPieces, the NFT community initiative from TIME, today announced a partnership to develop ‘TIME Square’, TIME’s first-ever destination in the metaverse. TIME Square will be built on TIME’s land in The Sandbox as a destination for convening, art and commerce, inspired by the visual spirit and energy of the iconic neighborhood in New York City.  

TIME President Keith A. Grossman revealed the partnership during The Sandbox event at NFT.NYC, while also issuing an open call for an architect to design TIME Square, reimagining the world-renowned cultural center for the metaverse. TIMEPieces is turning to its vibrant community and metaverse enthusiasts worldwide to identify a visionary architect to recreate and reimagine the destination as a voxel creation.

TIME Square will be an inclusive environment that will provide unique experiences to TIMEPieces holders. The destination will serve the TIMEPieces community by providing virtual access to discussions, events, screenings of TIME Studios projects and educational experiences.
