“Fight Crab 2” Breaks Out Of Its Shell, Coming to Early Access 13 February 2024

Demo coming during Steam Next Fest on 5 February 2024

TOKYO – 4 Dec 2023Fight Crab 2, the sequel to the award-winning physics-based arena fighting game developed by Calappa Games and published by PLAYISM, scuttles onto Early Access on Steam for PC on Tuesday, 13 February 2024. Demo the crab-tastic career mode as well as both online co-op and versus matches for a limited time during Steam Next Fest from Monday, 5 Feb – Monday, 12 Feb, as announced during INDIE Live Expo Winter 2023.

Indestructible crabs and armor-clad human gladiators join forces to create the ultimate combat sport, complete with live commentary broadcasting. Hop aboard crustaceans, clash claws against carapaces, and fight for the title of king crab across destructible arenas.

Outfit crustacean competitors with wacky dual-wield weapon loadouts – one for each claw, of course! Select more than 90 different crab-crushing armaments, from basic swords, shields and projectile cannons to beam sabers, boxing gloves, and yo-yos. Create completely customizable physics-based fighting styles, ride vehicles like motorcycles to speed towards the perfect position, and flip opponents belly-up to achieve victory.

Duke it out in desert landscapes, villages, atop ancient floating structures, and…on basketball courts! Each stage has its own battle-interrupting gimmick — knock enemies into moving trains, strategically dismount crabs during battle to reach hidden areas on foot, and throw level-specific items into reach for an edge in battle.

In Career mode, raise, nurture and level up a crab with a variety of upgradeable attributes like weight, toughness, grip strength, and agility. Fight for justice (and popularity) in Event Battles by defeating evil crabs and mischievous monsters, or put a stop to wild farm tractors with a mind of their own. Level up your grab and claw to the top of the Crab League.

Unlock 40 different passive and active skills, and master unique battle stances for an added edge during skirmishes. Damage received increases knockback, but also fills up the Crab Gauge. When the meter is full, activate tide-turning spells to summon assist animals, weapons, obstacles, and devastating long range laser beams.

Fight friends online in either casual or ranked one-on-one matches, and create public or password-protected rooms with customizable house rules and 5-player waiting support.

Fight Crab 2 will launch in Early Access on Tuesday, 13 February 2024, on Steam in Japanese, English and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional).

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Trailer Shows off Concept Art

It appears that Dragon Age Day was yesterday and BioWare and EA celebrated it with a little new info and an important announcement window for their upcoming Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. The company announced that they will be planning on fully revealing the game in summer 2024 and alongside this announcement came a new trailer featuring plenty of concept art showing off the land of Thedas that the company describes as being “a vibrant land of rugged wilderness, treacherous labyrinths, and glittering cities—steeped in savage combat and secret magics.”

The trailer features a number of pieces of artwork, each with their own descriptions as the company says that players will be able to see far more of Thedas than they have in past games. This includes the “desolate, beautiful badlands of the Anderfels with curtains of distant mountainous spires. The twisting canals and gleaming towers of Antiva, where Crows may lurk in any shadow. The turquoise seas of Rivain with its rushes of greenery and hardy sea-faring people” and more. The trailer can be found below and while no exact platforms have been announced, the title is listed on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox stores.

Grand Theft Auto VI First Trailer Released; Arrives in 2025

It has been a long time coming and after a leak that there would be an announcement in December, a teaser image showing exactly when that announcement would be made, and finally a full leak of the actual video, Rockstar Games has taken it upon themselves to make things official a day early. The company has announced that Grand Theft Auto VI will be releasing on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 sometime in 2025 and have released the first trailer for the game giving us a look at what appears to be two playable characters that players will be able to control, one female and one male.

The trailer shows off a ton of random locations throughout the franchise’s return to Vice City and various action events all set to the song of Tom Petty’s “Love is a Long Road.” Currently there is no exact information about the playable characters in the game, although the female character may be named Lucia, besides the fact that Vice CIty is in the state of Leonida and Rockstar describes Grand Theft Auto VI as being the “biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”

F1 Sim Racing World Championship – Round 1

Hinwil, 4 December 2023 – Alfa Romeo F1 Team KICK Esports enjoyed a brilliant start to its 2023/24 F1 Sim Racing World Championship campaign, with Thomas Ronhaar driving to victory in the virtual sandy sceneries of the Bahrain International Circuit.

Held in Jönköping, Sweden, during the DreamHack Winter 2023, one of the largest, best-known esports competitions, Round 1 saw Alfa Romeo F1 Team KICK Esports drivers, Thomas Ronhaar and Brendon Leigh, lining up on the grid for the race, with Matthijs van Erven sitting on the bench. In the first F1 Sim Racing LAN event held since the end of 2019, Thomas kicked off activities by clinching a brilliant pole position, which he then successfully converted into a win, while Brendon struggled more with issues on his racing simulator, only taking the fourteenth spot on the grid and making up a couple of places during the race, ultimately finishing 12th.

These results place Thomas at the top of the Drivers’ Standings, with Alfa Romeo F1 KICK Esports also leading the Constructors’ Standings, level on points with Ferrari and Mercedes.

Thomas Ronhaar
Alfa Romeo F1 Team KICK Esports C43
Qualifying: 1st
Race: 1st

“It has been an incredible race – and what a way to kick off our 2023/24 campaign! After having claimed pole position, I was able to enjoy a great start and to apply a strong strategy throughout the race, which allowed me to cross the finish line first. I am proud of all the work that has been done for over nine months behind the scenes, and of the incredible atmosphere in our team, from the drivers to the managers and the engineers. We showed our pace from the very beginning, testament to our intention to be fighting at the front of the grid. Of course, I am personally happy of my performance during Round 1, and to have proved myself in this great LAN event. I am already looking forward for more.”

Brendon Leigh
Alfa Romeo F1 Team KICK Esports C43
Qualifying: 14th
Race: 12th

“First of all, congratulations to Thomas for the results achieved. Personally, I am proud of the work done in preparation to the event, and of the family spirit that grew among us. Unfortunately, a couple of factors outside of our control caused performance-hammering issues with the racing simulator, and thus didn’t allow me to extract the most out of it. Of course, this is frustrating, but we kept a positive mindset working towards the maximum possible result – I feel we achieved that. Now, going forward into Round 2, we will address these limitations with the target of putting ourselves back into the championship hunt.”

‘Psychedelic-Metroidvania” Fearmonium is Coming to Console December 8th! (XB/PS/NSW)

Indie publisher, Ratalaika Games, together with RedblackSpade, announce the forthcoming release on 8th December 2023 of Fearmonium, a beautiful psychedelic Metroidvania game that presents many psychological themes. Releasing on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch, Fearmonium has many distinguishing facts, one being its design, the graphics, the coding, the game design and more are all done by one person, Slava Gris.

The talent of Slava Gris, who has a master’s degree in psychology, is remarkable. Once the player experiences and immerses themselves in this epic journey they will be impressed with his vision of battling mental health.

Psychological Dilemma + Suspense!Fearmonium centres around the inner world, the mind of  a boy named Max with an infantile, meek mother and a mad stepfather he disliked, who didn’t miss an opportunity to beat Max. The game starts some time after Max’s grandfather died. He was the only person in his family who knew what love and care is. Depression began to grow in Max’s mind and some new phobias started to manifest.

Mind your Mind

Fearmonium begins when Max visits a city fair with his girlfriend and she says that she is moving to another city so they need to break up. Right at that very moment, traumatised by that  comment, he sees a clown which leaves a lasting impression which is how our main character was created – we play as a coulrophobia. Our character is moving around Max’s mind and destroys all the bright, good, memories he has because of Lady Depression. However, we also fight with mechanisms of Max’s psychological protection: for example, when real Max tries to find comfort in his old toys, Regression appears (it is a harmful defence mechanism when a grown up person pretends to be a kid). We fight Regression and real Max stops to hide from his problems.

Mad World? NO?! Gameplay rules!

Although the abstract horror and psychological inner world ideas and gameplay elements  might appear very cerebral, Fearmonium comes with superb challenges, great ‘Disney-esque’ cartoon animation and beautiful hand drawn graphics. Gameplay presents a huge variety of attacking items and skills! Throw clowns, use Max’s old toys and even some bosses become abilities. After you find a boss you will then gain a new ability and can go back to progress farther.

Slava Gris, the man behind Fearmonium, was on hand to briefly explain two of the game’s sections/settings.

“First section is Max’s memory of a city fair. Our enemies are his bright memories about this day – some artists and magicians he liked. However, on the same day Max saw a puppet show and a pupaphobia (phobia of dolls) began to grow in his mind. Pupaphobia is the first boss.”

“Fourth section is the school itself, we face three guys who messed with  Max’s mind into one huge monster. Phobia should be more scary than an objective fear. We beat these guys and a cutscene shows that Max stops being afraid of these bullies and tries to punch them back. It helps him to gain self-respect.”

Features

  • Animated made frame-by-frame.
  • 15-17 hours to beat the game.
  • Huge map of Max’s consciousness, woven from abstract images and half-forgotten memories.
  • Memorable enemies, whose images reflect what Max saw in the real world.
  • Clues from Lady Depression.
  • Battles with combo attacks and a variety of unique abilities.
  • The answer to the question: does a phobia always cause irreparable harm, or can its presence change life for better?
