About Unusual Findings

It’s the 80s, and Christmas is coming. Young friends, Vinny, Nick and Tony are trying out their new cable signal descrambler when trying to decrypt a pay-per-view adult channel, they pick up the distress signal of an alien spaceship crash-landed in the woods near their town… Things only get weirder as they realize that the towering alien is killing very specific members of their community!

Explore the world oozing with nostalgia, check the Video Buster Store for clues, challenge other kids at the Laser Llamas Arcades, go learn a new trick at The Emerald Sword comic store, try to get along with the punk-looking Lost Boys at their hideout or even dare to ask THE BULL, the quintessential 80s Action hero, for some help!

Your decisions do matter, and the way you make these three friends interact with each other increasingly affects their friendship and the whole story, changing the way they solve the game puzzles, the locations they visit, the answers they find, the story, everything.

Uncover the truth hidden behind the alien invasion… well sort of. Why here? Why is it killing locals? How can the boys stop it? Will they tune in to the adult channel after all? The answers to these and other questions… in Unusual Findings.

  • Follow the Sci-Fi coming-of-age story. Three friends fighting together against the unknown… things (maybe against some known things too).
  • See, Grab and Talk action tokens, an inventory to use and combine items and your wits it’s all you need to play.
  • Stylized Pixel Art. All the charm of pixel art of the past with more colors and the new effects of the future. Some pixels look so real they can almost jump out of the screen!
  • Go back to a simpler time when mix tapes were a thing, the Commodore 64 was king, kids could play outside late at night, and the only thing to worry about was THE GIANT KILLER ALIEN TRYING TO GET YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS.
  • Your decisions affect the relationships between characters and, thus, the puzzles, the game progression, and the story.
  • The most radical music a synthesizer can play. Cool popular Synthwave Music alongside catchy tunes made exclusively for the game to power up the 80s vibes.

Unusual Findings is out now on Steam, EGS, PlayStation and Xbox consoles, and Nintendo Switch, along with a playable PC demo to try before you buy! The Vinny’s Diary Update will be available for all formats later this summer.

Snapshot:

  • Associate Game Director Paweł Sasko and Acting Executive Producer Dan Hernberg joined podcast hosts Sebastian Kalemba, Game Director of the next mainline Witcher game, and Paweł Burza, Senior Communication Manager.
  • The podcast delved into building a team in Boston, the cultural differences the two directors encountered, and what the future of Cyberpunk holds.
  • AnsweRED is CDPR’s in-house podcast, and each of the seven episodes recorded so far are available now on YouTube, Spotify, and other streaming platforms.

Episode seven, titled “CD PROJEKT RED in Boston”, saw the two hosts and their guests discuss leadership, the culture and philosophy behind the company, their ideas for Project Orion, and much more.

Acting Executive Producer Dan Hernberg spoke behind the reasoning of moving work on Project Orion to North America: “I think Cyberpunk is obviously a uniquely American story […] There’s a huge talent pool in North America that for a lot of reasons doesn’t necessarily want to move to Europe or to Poland. We thought it’d be a great way to get access to more talent and to try something unique and different.”

Episode 7 of AnsweRED Podcast

Paweł Sasko, Associate Game Director, also spoke of his work on Project Orion, his trajectory within the company, and his love for the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. “What I really wanted, for us as a company, for me as a person, is growth. When we [were] building Cyberpunk, I felt that we’re doing that.”

It provides a unique platform for listeners to gain knowledge from CD PROJEKT RED representatives, game dev experts, and industry veterans’ insights, experiences, and cutting-edge expertise.
