Katamari Damacy rolling up your webpage

Katamari Damacy is an amazing, creative and unique game.  Those of you who haven’t played one of the games yet or don’t like the franchise, shame on you.  Much like my asteroids hack I did a while back, there is now a clever hack floating around that allows you to control your very own Katamari on your webpage, able to roll up anything and everything.

One caveat, you must be using Chrome as your browser.  Check out the page for details on how to use this.  Basically load up whatever page you want to have fun on, copy the code into the URL and hit enter.  It starts out small but eventually grows and is able to pick up larger objects.  Pretty fun hack and timewaster.  Enjoy.

For quick use, copy this code into the URL field in Chrome and get a rolling.

Dead or Alive: Dimensions SpotPass given free costume DLC in Japan

In an effort to promote the use of the 3DS’ SpotPass system Team Ninja is offering daily downloadable costumes for their upcoming 3DS game Dead or Alive: Dimensions. The system will make use of the 3DS’ connection to a wi-fi signal and will automatically download one of 28 costumes that will be released periodically by Tecmo Koei.

There will be a certain costume that will be “release day only” according to Team Ninja’s Yosuke Hayashi as he spoke with Famitsu. This means that the specific costume will only be available on March 24th when the game releases in Japan but there currently is no set date for a Western release though it is coming.  Some of the expected costumes can be seen below courtesy of Andriasang. There has been no mention as to whether or not the SpotPass system will be used in the U.S. to distribute character costumes as well or not but we have contacted Tecmo Koei to find out more.

Batman: Arkham City arrives on October 18th

Warner Brothers Interactive has released information regarding Batman: Arkham City’s release date and it is sure to make everyone quite happy since it is going to be released this year. It was announced that the sequel to the well-recieved Batman: Arkham Ayslum would be released on October 18th in the U.S., October 19th in Australia and October 21st everywhere else.

Arkham City will feature two familiar faces in the form of Harley Quinn and the Joker but there are new villains thrown in to help spice up the pot. Catwoman makes an appearance while Hugo Strange and Two-Face also serve as main enemies this time around. It looks like the Batman will be haunting the streets of Arkham City just in time for Halloween then.

The Oregon Trail now headed to the 3DS…

There are a lot of franchises being reborn this year on the 3DS, but the news that a new Oregon Trail title will be making it’s way to the system comes as a (welcome) surprise. Gamefly recently listed Oregon Trail for the system with a release date still unknown from developer Red Wagon Games. If you think about it though, this release makes perfect sense as 2011 is a very special year for the age-old franchise. 1971 saw the original inception of the classic tale for survival, making 2011 the now 40th anniversary of the game itself.

Now that we know it is coming, many questions can now be asked of just how this new version will work, especially with the 3D effects and system features. This also appears to not be a download but a full cartridge release, which clearly shows signs of a full reboot now in the works. If you remember, a port for the DSiWare for Oregon Trail was released a few years ago along with the many mobile versions we have seen since. For now though everything is pure speculation and we must now wait until more of an official announcement is made, so keep checking back as when more news drops, we will be sure to let you know.

Star Wars: The Old Republic trailer places the galaxy’s fate in your hands

Despite a few missteps in the past few years the best way to ensure that your game is going to sell like hotcakes is to put the Star Wars name in front of it, but then again if you build your game from the ground up and base it around the whole Star Wars galaxy then you may as well just take people’s wallets. Bioware and Lucasarts have done this for the past few years and are getting ready to release Star Wars: The Old Republic this year.

A new trailer was released out of PAX East today that shows just a little bit of what players will be in for when they create their character for the first time. From the looks of the trailer there will be plenty of references to favorite characters and plenty of action to be had between Jedi and Sith. Unfortunately they still have not announced a release date but fans of MMO’s and Star Wars should just leave some money on the side to pick this up when it comes out.

New CG Trailer Emerges for Okamiden;Available Early at Gamestop…

If you haven’t yet noticed, we are just a few days away from seeing the launch of Okamiden in the states. Of course with this launch also comes a new trailer from Capcom, but this clip is quite different than what we have seen before for the title as it is a CG trailer.

The clip shows the young Chibiterasu nudging at a Nintendo DS with Kuni bursting out and hopping on the pup, which is shortly followed by a few clips of the actual gameplay. It isn’t much, but it does make me want to get this title even more as the art style and gameplay looks to be sharp and fluid. What I have also noticed though is oddly enough, Gamestop seems to already have the game in stock and selling it live on their website, so for those who want the game now, feel free to grab it a few days early from the retailer via online or in store. The rest of you though can check out the trailer below and stay tuned as our own review will be coming shortly.

Battle: Los Angeles Now Available

It seems another week has come and with it another super secret XBLA release on friday. We covered the fact that Konami would be releasing a Battle: Los Angeles game to coincide with the movie, but no one expected it to literally coincide with the movie. Today the movie releases and the game does as well. For all of you who go watch the movie and just don’t get enough of an alien invasion, pick up the game and experience it for yourself.

Below I have included the Movie’s Trailar and the Game’s Trailer. Check them both out.

Killzone 3 patch 1.04 is out now

Those of you who have played the Killzone 3 open beta and are now playing the full game have probably noticed that there is no difference between the two, save for being able to play more than one map.  Up until now, Killzone 3 has still had every bug, glitch and error that was present in the beta.  It’s fairly obvious that Killzone 3 was rushed out the door before it was truly finished (which is a shame) but that’s corporate business for you.

Anyways, Killzone 3 developer Guerilla Games have finally gotten around to releasing the first patch to bring the game out of beta and into it’s more “complete” form.  Unfortunately, this patch doesn’t really change much in terms of gameplay aside from a few things, most notably the medics revive now has a range of 20 meters and has a much shorter cooldown.  Aside from that, most of the updates are mere glitch and error fixes.  There are still a wealth of problems that plague Killzone 3’s multiplayer, none of which are addressed in this patch.

One can’t help but wonder why the more important fixes like automatic team balancing or fixing a bug that allows you to only play one map didn’t get into this patch.  Hopefully a more helpful patch is soon to follow today’s update or else Killzone 3 stands to lose support from its fans.

10+ hours of Dynasty Warriors 7 gameplay

Dynasty Warriors 7 doesn’t release in the west until March 29th, but it released earlier this week in Japan.  Those eager to get a glimpse of the game need wonder no more, as a Japanese player has recorded over 10 hours of them playing and, to my knowledge, are streaming it right now.  To make it short, DW7 looks beautiful and the character re-interpretations and upgraded level of detail really shine.

And for those who just want to get to the good stuff, check out the second video which showcases the series badass, Lu Bu riding his trademark Red Hare (who has now transformed into a fiery steed).
