Cities: Skylines Celebrates 10 Years of Building Excitement

New Premium and Free Anniversary Content Arriving Throughout Month of March

STOCKHOLM – March 10, 2025 – Paradox Interactive, a developer and publisher of games that last a lifetime, today celebrates the 10th anniversary of Cities: Skylines, the award-winning city-building management game series with over 45 million players. Originally released for PC platforms on March 10, 2015, Cities: Skylines was developed by Finnish studio Colossal Order and quickly became Paradox’s fastest-selling game, had subsequent releases on several consoles, and continued to grow with over 60 different expansions and content packs and a full sequel in 2023. The series became a global phenomenon, inspiring players to seek careers in urban planning, and has even been used to help design neighborhoods and districts in real-world cities.

Celebrate the milestone with an Anniversary Trailer below:

“We founded Colossal Order with the dream of creating a city-builder that would bring more freedom and creativity to the cities players can build,” said Mariina Hallikainen, CEO of Colossal Order. “With Cities: Skylines, that dream not only came true, but thanks to the continued support of our amazing fans, we had the opportunity to keep growing and building this game and community many years after its release and take it even further than anticipated. It’s been an incredible journey that’s taught us so much — and still has more to teach — and we are forever grateful to everyone who made it possible and who joined us along the way.”

To celebrate a decade of fun and creativity, Paradox today announced several forthcoming releases and free updates coming throughout March 2025 to both Cities: Skylines and Cities: Skylines II. On March 18, 2025, Cities: Skylines II players will receive the free Anniversary patch, featuring a selection of new in-game parks and buildings themed around celebrating the series’ birthday. In addition, three Creator Packs and three Radio Stations will be released the same day, which will be available for sale individually or as a bundle, and which will also be added to the Ultimate Edition of Cities: Skylines II, becoming available for download on March 18 at no additional cost to owners of that edition. Those packs will include:

  • Dragon Gate, a content pack inspired by Chinese architecture and “market quarter” locations
  • Leisure Venues, including new entertainment options, parks, and leisure locations
  • Mediterranean Heritage, which adds buildings inspired by 15th-19th century architecture from Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Southern France
  • Atmospheric Piano, Jade Road, and Feelgood Funk Radio Stations

The following week, on March 25, 2025, a separate free Anniversary patch will be added to the original Cities: Skylines in celebration of its decade of community support. This patch will add dynamic parks to the game, which change in appearance to reflect the different expansions each player has added to their game, to give a personalized tribute to players’ unique experiences with Cities: Skylines. Two Creator Packs and one Radio Station will also be released on March 25, including:

  • Emerging Downtown, a pack focused on adding a variety of building sizes and construction styles to cities’ busy downtown areas
  • Countryside, adding a selection of rural charm from small-town libraries and food markets to quaint, humble town halls
  • The Harvest Harmony Radio Station, a country-inspired selection of musical tracks to fit any rural construction project

The entire Cities: Skylines series will also be featured in a number of promotions throughout the month of March, including a Free-to-Play weekend on Steam during March 20-24. A new subscription service will become available starting on March 13, 2025, allowing players to add the entire 65+ DLC catalog to their game for a single monthly subscription fee, and for existing players a special “completion offer” to fill out their DLC collection will be available.

Developer Peposoftand publisher Phoenixx Inc. welcome the tens of millions of fans to the Hololive Alternative — a series of “what-if” realities set in the Hololive universe. As protagonist Shirakami Fubuki, take a break from livestreaming to investigate mysterious portals appearing across Holoearth.

Add subweapons to Fubuki’s arsenal, including a pistol that can one-shot enemies across the screen. Call upon a cast of fan-inspired assist summons such as Fubuki’s fox-like friend Sukonbu, who grants temporary power boosts. Shop at Mizore’s kitchen to purchase valuable consumables like extra lives, and mystery items granting special upgrades.

“Electrogical” Charges Up Mind-Bending Math Puzzles on Switch in 2025

1.1.0 Update on PC Today

TOKYO — March 7, 2025 — Electrogical, the arithmetic-based jigsaw puzzle game developed by kinjo and published by Phoenixx Inc., electrifies the eShop on Nintendo Switch alongside the PC launch in 2025.

Early Access engineers will enjoy a cosmic tune-up to the award winner of the First GYAAR Studio Indie Game Contest hosted by Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. and Bandai Namco Studios Inc., with the 1.1.0 update arriving today on PC via Steam.

The galactic terraforming mission continues with the addition of twenty-five new challenge stages, completely separate from the main missions. Push the limits of Electrogical’s puzzle capabilities with seven new trial stages featuring mysterious mechanics for an added twist, and enjoy quality-of-life and accessibility updates like mousewheel zoom functionality, improved sound effects, and the addition of German and Russian language options.

Terraforming missions that span decades can really put a dent in even the sturdiest space convoys. Jump into the shoes of an electrical engineer and dive into some much-needed repairs to bring the fleet back to its shiny, fully operational self by reconnecting each ship’s reactor to neko, the superconductive AI lifeblood of the armada’s electrical systems.

Each circuit board is a puzzle waiting to be solved, demanding just the right amount of power to pass inspection. Tinker with electrical currents by linking computer chips equipped with mathematical functions. Boost or dial down power with addition and subtraction chips, crank up voltage with multiplication pieces, and send sparks across distances with radio wave tiles.

Puzzle pieces can be rotated to redirect power flow, and “zero” tiles can be used to fill spaces without altering energy levels. Once everything’s in place, hit the power button and watch the electricity dance across the board.

Some levels have just one solution, while others let creativity shine with multiple paths to success—like crafting a perfect square with each piece, using every tile available, or finishing with a few leftovers. Stuck on a tricky puzzle? The handy “Hint” button lights the way.

“Our optimization of the Early Access build has been bolstered by community requests, and we’ve thrown in some challenging surprises,” said Yutuka Kinjo, solo developer at kinjo. “Switch users can look forward to plenty of pickup-and-play puzzle solving. We have much more to share as we march towards the full release, stay tuned!”

Electrogical is available on Steam with language support in English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, German, and Russian. Narrative RPG Rue Valley Praised by Disco Elysium Creators; Demo Available Now!

Disco Elysium Creators Robert Kurvitz, Aleksander Rostov, and Helen Hindpere Praise Development Journey of Upcoming Title

Nicosia, Cyprus | Recently, publisher Owlcat Games, together with Emotion Spark Studio – the indie developer behind the narrative RPG Rue Valley – shared insights into the game’s development on the Human Can Opener Podcast. Praised by Disco Elysium creators Robert Kurvitz and Aleksander Rostov, Rue Valley is set to launch later this year, with a demo available now on Steam.

Starting development in 2020 with a team of four, Rue Valley draws inspiration from titles like Outer Wilds and Disco Elysium. The game features time-loop mechanics, where time progresses only through player interaction, and NPCs have their own unique worldviews that breathe life into the game. The personality system allows players to shape their character’s traits, ensuring each playthrough is unique.

The game’s hand-drawn art style, inspired by stop-motion and the “Spider-Verse” films, combines semi-3D visuals with comic-book aesthetics. Years of experimentation went into perfecting the lighting, textures, and animations.

A pivotal moment in development came when Disco Elysium creators Robert Kurvitz, Aleksander Rostov, and Helen Hindpere visited Belgrade and played the Rue Valley demo. Their insights not only validated the team’s creative vision but also provided invaluable feedback that helped refine its core elements.

Kurvitz, renowned for his groundbreaking work in Disco Elysium and his novel Sacred and Terrible Air, was immediately drawn to the game’s isometric art style and dialogue system. At one particularly challenging moment in gameplay, his genuine excitement upon overcoming it electrified the Emotion Spark team, reinforcing their belief in the game’s depth and engagement.

Hindpere, playing the demo separately, described Rue Valley as both familiar and refreshingly original. She recognized similarities in storytelling tools and dialogue mechanics but emphasized that the game carves its own path.

Rostov, the visionary art director of Disco Elysium, delved into the visual identity of Rue Valley. During a follow-up visit to the studio, he engaged in an in-depth discussion about the art style, even suggesting thoughtful improvements like adding character shadows casting on themselves, which left a lasting impression on the team.

Their feedback served as both encouragement and inspiration, reaffirming Rue Valley’s potential as a bold and emotionally complex narrative RPG.

Marko Smiljanic, Creative Director at Emotion Spark, described the experience as surreal. He mentioned that meeting the creators of Disco Elysium—a game that heavily inspired Rue Valley—was both humbling and motivating. Hearing their feedback and seeing them enjoy the game was a dream come true for the team.

For players eager to experience Rue Valley, a free demo version is now available on Steam. The demo offers a glimpse into the game’s unique mechanics, art style, and narrative depth, allowing players to explore the world and systems that have already captivated industry veterans.

About Rue Valley

Rue Valley is a deeply personal narrative game about a man’s journey of self-discovery and resilience on his quest to break free from a mysterious time loop. Each day feels like an uphill battle against the shadows of your own mind. Along the way, you will encounter a captivating ensemble of characters, each wrestling with their own emotional complexities and revealing hidden depths as you get to know them.

Memories are stored in a graph, unlocking intentions and mindsets as you progress uniquely through the story. Commit to quirky mindsets for unexpected and hilarious dialogues, and experience personality-altering Status Effects: become more outgoing when drunk, or extra sensitive when anxious.

Key features of Rue Valley:

  • Personality system: Craft your own personality in Rue Valley. You can be a cold-hearted loner who overthinks everything or a melodramatic loudmouth who always trusts their gut instinct.
  • Store Your Memories: Important memories are stored in a graph, unlocking unique interactions around the Rue Valley Motel and new mindsets to help build out the main character.
  • Uncover the Secrets of Rue Valley: An anomaly has trapped the area around the Rue Valley Motel in a time loop. Experiment with the main character’s actions each day until you have enough evidence to solve the mystery.
  • 2D Parallax Art Style: Rue Valley has an instantly recognizable, visually appealing comic book aesthetic inspired by Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Rue Valley’s free demo is available now on Windows PC via Steam. Wishlist the game so you don’t miss its release.
