The Darkness 2 Vendettas Trailer Revealed

A new trailer has been released by 2K Games for the upcoming The Darkness 2 which unveils for the first time the new “Vendettas” feature, a brand new co-op multiplayer experience. Whiles The Darkness isn’t quite renowned for its multiplayer, the first game attempted at it but failed to pull it off.

Its sequel however takes a different approach, by offering four player co-op and an entirely new side story campaign that will run parallel with the main game’s storyline. Each mission in Vendettas has a team-focus with four unique characters to play as, all of whom have their own unique weaponry and Darkness powers.

Check out the trailer and see what you think. The Darkness 2 is set to be released next year on February 10 in Australia for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.

New TOS in XBL update prevents class action suits

Ahh Microsoft, we thought you were the cool one! It is so disheartening to see you follow Sony and EA down the path of crapping on your customers.

Yup, that’s right. Despite all the cool new features in their latest Xbox update, Microsoft also included some fine print that most of us probably skipped over. Hidden in the 18th paragragh, their new Terms of Service prevent us all from using a class action lawsuit against Microsoft. Check it out below and then be sure to send a letter to Microsoft Corporation, ATTN: LCA ARBITRATION, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052-6399, letting them you reject this stupid stuff.

Trine 2 finally released – check out the new trailer

It’s been a long time coming, but Frozenbyte’s Trine 2 has finally made it to Steam. The first game notched up over a million players around the world, and the sequel will no doubt top that figure. A side scrolling platformer with a heavy emphasis on some tricky physics puzzles, Trine 2 has also just become available in European stores. The collector’s edition is only £17,99/19,99€, and for that players will get a copy of a gorgeous artbook, a download of the first game, and a copy of the game soundtrack, composed by Ari Pulkkinen of Angry Birds and Outland fame – a bargain by any means.

In honour of the games release a new trailer has been unleashed, and if you still needed a bit of convincing, this should do the trick. Whilst the PC and Mac versions are available now, console gamers won’t see the game until later in the month, with the worldwide XBLA release on December 21, and the US PSN release on December 20.

Stay tuned for the full review from Capsule Computers.

Batman: Arkham City patched on PC except for 32 bit users

Those who have been playing Batman: Arkham City on the PC most likely know that the game has had some serious problems with bugs and crashes and pretty much everything you could list. One of these issues was specifically a problem with DirectX 11. Unfortunately not every Batman: Arkham City player will be able to use DirectX 11 yet, as 32-bit systems will still need to use DirectX 9.

Warner Brothers themselves have said that “Users running Windows 7 32 bit or Windows Vista 32 bit should ONLY use DX 9 settings until a future patch that addresses this specific issue is released. We are actively working to address the remaining issue tied to DX 11 for users running 32 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7.” Thankfully however Batman: Arkham City’s developers RockSteady have released a new patch for the PC version to fix a number of issues which you can see below.

  • Performance / hitching issues have been greatly improved for running in DX 11.
  • An issue with players running out of Video Memory or encountering a Rendering Thread Exceptions has been address. This was primarily affecting 32-bit Operating Systems.
  • A progression block after defeating [spoiler] has been fixed. This was issue occurred primarily on lower end computer setups and described as Batman not readying his Reverse Batarang.
  • A crash that occurred when scrolling between the Character Bios and Arkham City Stories has been fixed.
  • A crash that occurred when selecting “Press Start” immediately when available at the Title Screen has been fixed. The issue was described as crashing/hard locking around the DLC (Downloadable Content) check.
  • Tony Hawk hints at potential new game at Spike’s VGA

You know when your game does so bad when even charitable organizations won’t even take your video game as a donation because nobody wants it. But apparently that is alright with Activision and even better for Tony Hawk. It seems that despite two years of failed video games in the Tony Hawk franchise isn’t enough for the company and skate boarder, despite the fact that Tony Hawk Shred only sold around 3k copies in the first week and little more afterwords.

The pro skateboarder Tony Hawk wrote on his Twitter saying “I’ll be announcing the upcoming release of something new on Sat; the same day as the Spike Video Game Awards. Coincidence? I think not.” Perhaps he will announce that they are finally giving up on the series and will move on to something more productive…
