Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Collector’s and Signature Editions revealed

There are a few things you can spend a whole bunch of money on, but how about a fancy expensive version of a highly anticipated video game? Sure some people may have scoffed at the expensive $150 Skyrim bundle which included a very nice dragon statue and a bunch of other goodies, but how much would you be willing to drop on a video game?

Well today EA has revealed that Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will have a number of various editions besides the normal $60 package. For $80 you will receive a parchment map, a seven-piece dice set, replicas of the 40 “Destiny Cards” found in the game, a soundtrack, and DLC weapons that increase XP gained from “Fate Shift Kills.”

Those with quite a bit more coin in their wallet can drop $200 on the Collector’s Edition which will include everything said before as well as a 12.5″ tall “Prismere Troll” statue designed by McFarlane Toys and a concept art lithograph signed by Ken Rolston that is limited to only 700 units.

Still if you have even more money to spend there is the $275 Signature Edition which includes everything above but instead the troll is signed by Todd McFarlane, R.A. Salvatore or Curt Schilling and a custom sketch by Todd McFarlane. Only 300 versions of this will be made and you can pre-order any of these versions here. I do believe that $275 is the most expensive special edition I have ever seen…

Raptr announces Skyrim as most played game of 2011

Among video gamers there is a certain game-tracking service that is widely popular known as Raptr. They often take note of how long a gamer plays their various games and tells them the total time throughout a yearly, monthly or weekly breakdown. Now the service has revealed what the top-performing titles of the year 2011 have been revealed and most of them aren’t a big surprise.

Modern Warfare 3 has taken the cake as the most played shooter, Skyrim being the most played RPG and FIFA Soccer 12 being the most played sports title thanks to everyone except the US. What is surprising however is the fact that despite being out less than a month Skyrim is the most played game of this year with the longest hours of game time sunk into it. Quite an accomplishment for the massive title… just another accolade it can ad to its long list of them.

Miyamoto not retiring yet but is setting the groundwork for eventual departure

0

Over the past few days there has been quite a big hubbub about the fact that Shigeru Miyamoto even mentioned the word retiring in the middle of an interview. Obviously Nintendo’s headman wouldn’t be retiring from the company entirely but in fact just stepping down from his higher position. On the other hand Nintendo PR has entirely refuted his claims and says that he isn’t going anywhere.

Still, in another interview today with the Wall Street Journal he explained that he simply believes that the company should be “structured” to work without him should he eventually leave the company or be unable to continue working. In fact Miyamoto said in the interview that he believes that the company “might be better without me. I mean that a different approach and different talent might emerge, though I shouldn’t dwell on this because then the article might indeed say ‘Mr. Miyamoto is thinking about retiring,’ because that is not the case.”

Black Rock Shooter Anime Delayed

Earlier today news broke that the upcoming 8-part Black Rock Shooter anime series has had it’s premiere pushed back from January to February 2nd, 2012.

While this may be somewhat disappointing to fans, who were hoping to pick up the series in January, it thankfully is not too long a wait between premiere dates.

The series is based upon the immensly popular Black Rock Shooter franchise and marks the first time an anime series has spawned from it.

It is currently unknown why the series has been delayed, but for further information you can visit the offical Black Rock Shooter on TV website here.

Namco Bandai wins lawsuit over The Witcher 2 distribution

A few months ago a problem arose with the Xbox 360 version of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, but it wasn’t due to the fact that the developer was having issues, but actually a distribution issue for certain regions of the world. You see, CD Projekt Red’s owners Optimus SA offered the distribution rights of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings in Western Europe, Central or South America, or the Asia-Pacific region to THQ.

The problem with this is that they had previously offered the distribution rights to Namco Bandai. Because of this Namco Bandai is now entitled to a new contract for distribution and can collect 15,000 euros a day if they don’t sign a new deal within 15 days of the ruling. Seems like Namco Bandai has won this time around, hopefully Optimus SA chooses to sign quickly to not cause a massive money hemorrhage.

Record of Agarest War 2 coming to North America exclusively for PlayStation 3

Those hoping to hear about a certain risqué strategy RPG being brought over to North America by Aksys Games will be happy to hear that they are indeed localizing Record of Agarest War 2 in North America next year in 2012. Unfortunately however it seems that those hoping for an Xbox 360 version of this title, similar to what was found for the original Agarest War and Agarest War Zero are out of luck as this title is a PlayStation 3 exclusive.

Being a PlayStation 3 exclusive it has a number of new features, such as mini-games that take advantage of the PlayStation Move in unique and interesting ways, including bathing and massaging the various female characters… Besides that there will be a new battle system and a full HD upgrade. Also Record of Agarest War 2 will contain an entirely new Agarest Universe and storyline which Aksys Games have detailed below.

One day, the world was enveloped by a mysterious blinding light. The destruction it caused was terrible, even as the light itself was sublime in its beauty, and it made those who witnessed the awesome display think of the unrestrained rage and fury of the divine.

The central continent, from where the light is believed to have originated from, went silent, while at the same time demons began to spread throughout the world like a plague. Amongst the survivors of the catastrophe, that fateful day became known as the “Day of Light.”

Sometime after the events of the Day of Light, a young man by the name of Weiss, who had lost all memory of himself, encounters an enigmatic woman named Eva, who introduces herself as an Agent of the Divine. It is from her that Weiss learns that he has committed the grievous sin of deicide, and that in order for him to atone for his crime he is to become the “Vessel” in which the power of the divinity he had slaughtered will be stored. For it will be that power that will be used to resurrect the one whose life he stole.

For those who betray the divine will pay for their sins in the space which separates salvation and damnation, as will their progeny…
