Hunter x Hunter longest continual run to date, “No hiatus any time soon,” says Togashi

Yoshihiro Togashi the man behind the Hunter x Hunter manga has revealed the interesting and self-mocking news in his Weekly Shonen Jump author notes, that this is the longest consecutive serialisation of Hunter x Hunter without taking a hiatus of any sort.

Togashi is known to take breaks from his manga at times throughout the series run and in his author’s note write up he even mocked his self for that problem. The current run has been going for 21 chapters, which is ‘apparently’ an accomplishment for Togashi.

It is worth noting that a few weeks back Togashi mentioned that with the launch of the anime series he feels that he can not afford to go on hiatus for fear that the anime would catch up with the manga. So it is safe to say, Togashi is sticking with this for the long haul.

Polyphonica Crimson S licensed by Maiden Japan for subtitle only release

It certainly seems like Section 23 has been very busy over the past week, even more so today. For those who don’t know, Section 23 is the parent company of Sentai Filmworks, which has been picking up multiple licenses over the past week, and also for Maiden Japan which has just announced that they have acquired the license for Polyphonica Crimson S. Fans can expect to see the DVD released with English subtitles only sometime this Spring.

In the world of Polyphonica there lives a certain type of musician capable of communing with the spirits. They are called Dantists and are able to use their music to control the spirits in battle for good or for evil. Polyphonica Crimson S follows the story of Phoron who, despite mastering everything needed to become a Dantist, is unable to do so due to a promise he made as a small child to a spirit. When that spirit returns 12 years later he finally is able to make his contract with the girl. The only problem is she is named Corticarte, also known as the Crimson Annihilator.

Agent 47 does what he does best in these Hitman: Absolution images

Today more screenshots for Agent 47’s next journey Hitman: Absolution have been released by Square Enix and in these images, which can be seen below, we see what makes Agent 47 the best hitman in the organization. These images show everything from Agent 47 disguising himself as a priest, about to execute a guy with a fire axe and also even hiding a whole bunch of bodies in a closet. Puts a whole ‘nother twist on the phrase skeletons in the closet huh?

Among these images are your more standard actions such as blowing people away with a shotgun, observing the interrogation of a pollice officer and more. Well I wouldn’t say that those are very standard but with Hitman: Absolution expected to be released sometime this year on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, plenty of gamers will have a chance to do everything seen below and more.

Motto To Love-Ru license acquired by Sentai Filmworks

Sentai Filmworks has continued on their licensing spree and has announced today that they have picked up the license to release Motto To Love-Ru to North American audiences. Those hoping for an English dub or a Blu-ray version will be disappointed however as the company will be releasing the complete season only on DVD and only with English subtitles.

Fans will also be disappointed to hear that Sentai Filmworks will not be including the multiple OVAs that aired between To Love-Ru and Motto To Love-Ru which helps bridge the gap between the two stories and introduces Lala’s sisters. The license acquisition isn’t too much of a surprise, as Sentai Filmworks already owns the license to the first season of the series, though it may be a bit of a surprise that it took this long for the acquisition to be made.

Japanese version of Phantom Breaker to receive patch

Ever since 7sixty revealed that they would be bringing Phantom Breaker to North America the title has been given a lot of attention, so much attention in fact that the developers of the title in Japan, 5pb has decided that they will be releasing a title update for the Japanese version of the game.

Currently there is no news as to what this title update will entail nor has there been any word of whether this update will also be applied to the North American version of the game by 7sixty before the title is released in early 2012. Phantom Breaker is being released exclusively on the Xbox 360 and will come in a limited edition package that will contain a mini strategy guide, desk calendar and two double-sided posters

Complete Gravity Rush’s Challenge Missions to power up Kat

As any good video game should, Gravity Rush contains two different kinds of missions. There are your standard story missions which will advance the plot and provide bosses for Kat to face off against, but then there are also side quests. The side quests in this title however are called Challenge Missions and they will award the player with precious gems that will be used to power up Kat.

Famitsu has explained that the precious gems will let players level up Kat’s various abilities such as her main skill to bend gravity and allow her to walk on walls and slam enemies with ease. She has a number of other abilities such as a gravity glove to lift heavy objects and more that has yet to be detailed. Gravity Rush is slated as a PlayStation Vita launch title in North America and is a personal must buy for this writer.

Binary Domain held back until February 14 and 28 in EU and US

Sega had some bad news for fans of a war against machines, their upcoming title Binary Domain has suffered a minor delay and is now being pushed back a few weeks from its previously announced release date. The most heavily affected by the delay are North Americans who have seen the release date change from February 14th to February 28th. Europe will be seeing the title on the 24th and Australia will be getting the title before anyone else, on February 23rd.

This news isn’t all doom and gloom however, as Sega has released a fancy new trailer which they are calling “Bigger Than You Think” which highlights the dramatic storyline that will be told in this futuristic shooter. The video can be seen below and will likely tide fans over for those few extra weeks of waiting.

No PlayStation 4 at E3 says Kaz Hirai

0

For quite a while now rumors have been circulating that the next installment to the PlayStation video game console franchise would be revealed at this year’s E3. However that has now been refuted by Kaz Hirai, one of Sony’s most powerful employees, in a statement to the Wall Street Journal. In the statement Hirai says that Sony is planning on sticking to the 10 year life cycle that they announced for the PlayStation 3 so many years ago.

“Andy (House) is absolutely right in that we are not making any announcements at E3. I’ve always said a 10-year life cycle for PS3, and there is no reason to go away from that,” was Hirai’s full statement when asked about the PlayStation 4. Seems like those eager to see a new console will have to wait at least another 4 years or so if Sony stays true to that 10 year plan.

Win a free PlayStation Vita by eating at Taco Bell

0

Continuing its trend of gamer oriented promotions over the past few years, a new promotion has sprung up for Taco Bell in North America. Taco Bell has revealed today that they are now offering three ways to win a PlayStation Vita and only one of those three involves ordering food and eating it at Taco Bell itself. From January 26 until March 11 Taco Bell will be giving away a PlayStation Vita every 15 minutes (or so they say) to people who order a $5 Buck Box.

The boxes come with a code that can be entered online and will let you know if you are an instant winner. The other ways to win the contest include playing the “Reality Fighters Dojo” minigame inside of the Taco Bell mobile app or by putting your photo or video online to “boast” about your want for a Vita. Anyone who wins this contest will receive a 3G Vita, Little Deviants, a 4GB memory card and their choice of ModNation Racers, MLB 12 the Show, or LittleBigPlanet.
