Amy set to horrify PSN and XBLA gamers next week

Originally, Amy was meant to be a PlayStation 3 exclusive but developer VectorCell chose to release the title on multiple platforms. After that surprising reveal months ago, they are back to give us another surprising bit of news… the highly anticipated horror title Amy is going to be released next week! The game will be released on January 11th in Europe on the XBLA and PSN with the US release falling on January 11 for XBLA and January 10 for the PSN.

They also chose to release the pricing details for Amy as well with a bit of a surprise as well. The game will cost $12.99 on the PSN and only 800 MS Points on XBLA. Those who know the price structure of the Microsoft Points should see that the Xbox 360 version of the title is actually $3 cheaper than the PlayStation 3 version. Very interesting news… Also those who are expecting a PC version will have to wait at least “several months after the PSN/XBLA version, and we can’t announce a date yet because we haven’t totally finalized our distribution deals.”

Resident Evil: Revelations demo to arrive in North America and Europe soon

Attentive fans should remember that a demo for Resident Evil: Revelations was released in Japan last week on the Nintendo eShop, there has been little word about seeing a demo released for North American and European fans who would like to try out the game before purchase. There was a small confirmation from Capcom USA back when the demo was first announced but the company has been very quiet about the demo since then.

That is until today when Capcom’s Christian Svensson revealed on the company’s own forums that “A RE: Revelations demo for NA and Europe is coming. In the case of NA, we’re awaiting our date confirmation and code approval from [Nintendo of America] NOA (we have a tentative from them, but I’ll have to keep you in suspense)” The company plans on revealing the exact date as soon as they have it cemented in stone so expect an announcement within the next couple of weeks.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown announced as strategy title

While plenty of XCOM fans immediately blew a gasket when they heard that 2K Games was planning on turning the strategy game series into a first person shooter with squad based tactics, it seems that the series may still take a return back to its RTS roots. The developer of Civilization, Firaxis Games has revealed that they are currently working on an entirely new XCOM title which is called XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

The title will be focused solely on the strategy genre and was revealed by next month’s Game Informer cover as can be seen above. The title is going to be developed for the PC as well as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and is currently set to be released this Fall. Expect more news to be revealed when the Game Informer issue seen above hits store shelves.

Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns rated in Australia

While those of us in North America have had the pleasure of enjoying the latest Harvest Moon title to be released in English for quite a few months now, those in Australia have yet to even hear a single word about Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns being released in their country.

That is until today however when the Australian Classifications Board gave the title a rating. While the company who usually brings the Harvest Moon series to Australia, Rising Star Games, hasn’t announced anything about the Nintendo DS or 3DS port of the title we can expect to hear an announcement sometime in the near future about the title. Until then, North American fans will be waiting to hear about Harvest Moon: Land of Beginning being localized.

Gotham City Impostors delayed until February

It would be quite terrible if Batman never showed up on time, I mean think of the countless lives that would be lost and the billions of dollars in theft and damages would occur if he always showed up a few minutes too late to save the day. Well, these guys aren’t the real Batmen nor are they even the real Jokers, but they still can’t make it out on time.

Gotham City Impostors was originally meant to be released on January 10th through the PSN, PC, and XBLA. However that is not to be the case as Monolith has revealed today that the company is delaying the title until February for unknown reasons. The beta for the game is still running today, so perhaps the delay is to fix up some late issues found within the beta…

NIS license Brave10

NIS America have today announced that they have acquired the license Winter 2012 anime series and manga adaptation Brave10.

Brave10 was previously announced for streaming on Crunchyroll, but this is the first confirmation of a retail release. NIS America went on describe the series synopsis in a press release:

“A young ninja named Saizo Kirigakure was trying to find meaning and direction in his life when he encounters Isanami, who is fleeing from assassins. He manages to save her life, and she then asks him to act as her bodyguard until she reaches her destination. When they arrived in the protected territory of Sanada, Saizo falls into a meeting with Sasuke Sarutobi, leader of the famed ninja group. Sanada has gathered these bold and talented ninjas together in order to bring an end to Japan’s era of war. Meanwhile, Isanami’s mysterious hidden power comes to light… The untold story of these brave ten will come to life in this action-packed battle anime, BRAVE10.”

There is currently no solid release plans for Brave10, however if you consider NIS America’s previous releases, it may very well come in a big collectors box (however sub only). Be sure to let us know what you think in the shoutbox and comments section below.

PS Vita sales drop again to 42,648 during third week

More disconcerting news has come out of Japan as the Media Create sales charts show that the PlayStation Vita sales have dropped again from the previous week and were again outsold by the PlayStation Portable and the Nintendo 3DS. The Nintendo 3DS hit 197,952 sales in the week while the PlayStation Vita only managed to move 46,648 units in that same time period. This news comes after last week’s sale of a troubling 72,479.

While the PlayStation Vita may not be flying off the shelves at the moment, comparing it to other handhelds at the moment is something of an unfair battle. Currently the Nintendo 3DS costs significantly less than the PlayStation Vita in Japan and the PlayStation Portable is even cheaper than that. With a smaller barrier to entry these consoles obviously have a higher pull at the moment, while the Vita is currently off to a slow start. These numbers are certainly something to keep an eye on but should be no reason for concern at the moment for those hoping for the Vita’s success.
