Vodafone Australia Reveals Vita Plans

Vodafone Australia have revealed their plans for the Wi-Fi/3G Playstation Vita. Potential customers can grab a monthly data plan with no upfront cost for the Vita or you grab it pre-paid for $419, which is roughly the price elsewhere. For those who do buy it outside of Vodafone, a Vodafone Sim will be included in the box on launch day.

Postpaid plans will start at $55 per month on a 12 month contract. With the basic plan, owners will get the Playstation Vita and 1.5GB of data per month over 12 months (minimal cost is $660). If that is too small, there will be other data plans available, up to 18GB for $95 per month (minimal cost is $1,140). For those who just want to pay it all on launch day, the $419 prepaid pack includes 200MB of data on a 30-day expiry.

As a special offer, if you pre-order the Playstation Vita through Vodafone’s online store by March 31st (which you can do right now), then customers will be given a necessary gift: a 4GB Memory Stick. The Memory Stick is essential for the Playstation Vita due to a lack of internal memory for save data. This does apply to both postpaid and prepaid deals. This is in addition to a free digital copy of WipEout 2048 when you activate your Vodafone sim, which you can now play since you will have the Memory Stick.

Ross Parker, General Manager of Devices at Vodafone had this to say on the Vodafone partnership with SCE Australia:

“Our partnership with Sony Computer Entertainment Australia presents us with a unique opportunity to make the move into the exciting world of mobile gaming. Our new network is built for smart devices like PlayStation Vita. Our customers have told us they can’t wait to get their hands on this device, and we echo their enthusiasm and look forward to the arrival of PlayStation Vita in Australia later this month.”

For more info or to pre-order the Vita, check out the Vodafone Playstation Vita page and see if the 3G version is the right one for you.

Nazis on the Moon! New Trailer for Iron Sky

Ladies and gentlemen, prepare yourselves for one of the best movie concepts of all time: Nazis on the moon.  That’s right, for seventy years a group of them have been hiding on the dark side of the moon, just waiting for the right moment to invade. In this completely over the top movie (produced by the Fins of all people), not only is there a swastika shaped base on the moon, but there’s a female president in the White House, and she’s keen to keep her seat: “All President’s who start a war in their first term get re-elected.”

I implore you to watch the full trailer for yourself to get a more perfect picture of how barmy this film is. It’s going to premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in a few days time, and hits cinemas on April 4.

Nazi zombies are so last year.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles bows out of the Virtual Console

What is it with TMNT titles disappearing from downloadable services? After seeing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled taken off the Xbox Live Marketplace just last summer, we now have the sad news to report that the original TMNT for the NES (Yes, the Konami one) has been taken of the Wii’s virtual console for unknown reasons.

Those who already made a download of the classic can still re-download, but as of today, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is unavailable in all regions. My guess that this is just a licensing issue and might be corrected in the future, but it still is a bit disheartening that Wii owners were given no warning of these reptile’s departure.

Rumor: Is a Lady Gaga Game on the Way?

Here is an interesting rumor for you to chew on. Various sources have begun reporting that Ubisoft may be preparing Lady Gaga: The Experience for the Wii and Wii U. I think by this time, no one should be surprised if this were to be true though, as the whole concept fits in perfectly with Ubisoft’s dance genre series that started with the King of Pop back in 2010.

Honestly, I enjoy Lady Gaga as an entertainer and her larger than life persona seems to be perfect for the video-game world. To make this even more exciting, anime expert Luke Halliday has had a Bubble-Dress he has been dying to try on for quite some time now so it all seems like destiny. Until an official announcement is made, consider this just a rumor but this very could well be one of Ubisoft’s big 2012 releases we will be seeing at E3.

Kirby’s Dream Land 2 Headed to the Virtual Console in Japan

You see, Kirby? Dreams do come true. In a rather expected yet still welcome move, Nintendo of Japan announced today that Kirby’s Dream Land 2 will see a release next week on the 3DS’ eShop. For those unfamiliar to this follow-up, Dream Land 2 offers a different mechanic from it’s predecessor and allows Kirby to catch rides from his animal friends.

There really isn’t a question of “if” us westerners will see a release of Kirby #2, but more of when as Nintendo have had no problem as of late showing the pink fluff a ton of love with his previous entries. All that is left to do now is simply wait for this, and get a bit more pumped for the rest of the franchise to follow suit.

Capcom will replace Misprinted Revelations Cover

If you have been one of the many 3DS owners who have picked up Resident Evil: Revelations in the U.S., then you might have noticed that the game did indeed print with that dreaded typo. I personally don’t see a big deal with it, but case lovers cried foul and Capcom are looking to make up for their oversight with a bit of a fix.

Posting on a blog over at Capcom Unity, Gregaman offered this bit of news for the troubled owners of the misprinted box:

As you may well have heard by now, the title of Revelations is indeed misspelled on the spine of the game box (as “Revelaitons”). Unfortunately, the initial North American shipment of the game will reflect this error, but we just got confirmation that subsequent shipments of the title are being repackaged to have the correct spelling. Meanwhile, customers who have received the misspelled version can contact our Customer Service line at 650-350-6700 or by email at [email protected] and we’ll send you a new insert for your case. So yay!

Sounds like a winning idea to me. I for one am keeping my misprint in tow, as it adds a bit of a odd charm to the rather bland artwork featured in front (though that argument is for another day). If you are one of the picky, get to dialing or e-mailing and you will be able to get your insert in what one would presume a rather short time span.

Silkroad-R Valentines Event

0

The latest iteration in the Silkroad series of games, Silkroad-R, recently launched worldwide and to celebrate the upcoming holiday of Valentines day, the game is hosting an event. Titled The Battlefield of Infinity,  the event has monsters dropping rare items that are used to woo fellow players in a manner similar to human courtship.

This Battlefield of Infinity is an arena that players enter to do battle with massive foes, as either a party or solo, in order to protect the Guardian Stone and to win rewards and prizes. Unfortunately, recovery items will not work in this arena, and with a cap of four attempts per day, you will want to bring the best players that you can find. The best part of the event, however, would certainly be the rare chocolate that drops.

Any player that has this chocolate traded to them gets a bleeding heart buff that increases strength and intelligence. Any two players that submit a screenshot of their love will be in the draw for a unique “Wedding Avatar”. Make sure your photo is the best, as there are only 20 of these available.

To quote Joymax –

“Valentine’s Day is a popular event for our users because of the number of couples, whether they’re friends or married, that play our game together,” said Joymax CEO, Nam-chul Kim.  “Alongside the new Battlefield of Infinity, which gives players a daily challenge to overcome either individually or with their closest warriors, there’s even more to LOVE about Silkroad-R.”
