OUT NOW: EXTRACT, DEFEND, DISCOVER. SCI-FI SHOOTER ‘OMEN’ IS AVAILABLE NOW ON STEAM

Take the role of an immortal starship pilot sent to investigate the ruins of a fallen empire.

Seattle, United States, 11 August 2026 | Indie developer Codex Interactive is excited to announce that their debut title, Omen, is out now on Steam. In this top-down sci-fi extraction shooter, players will explore and loot the war-torn remains of a fallen galactic empire while shoring up a defensive front to combat waves of lurking pirates, opportunistic traitors, and savage cultists.

Galaxy-Wide Calamity
Humanity has been reduced to a post-apocalyptic expanse of broken space stations and nomadic ships. Take on the role of an Astral, an immortal starship pilot whose job is to investigate The Veil, a cosmic anomaly hailed by an army of cultists set on inciting a total war to claim power. Amidst this macabre backdrop, Omen challenges players to root out the forces of the Veil, raid their bases, defend against retaliatory infiltration, and ally with the resistance to recenter the remaining threads of humanity.

Rebuild the Monastery
Omen combines base defense combat, ship customization, item crafting, and extraction looter elements for a cross-genre gameplay experience. At the start of the game, you come across the remains of a derelict monastery suitable enough to use as your base. With the Monastery as your hub, interact with local NPCs to claim missions, customize your ship, and build new weapons for your future raids. It is a prime target for the forces of the Veil, so it’s essential to build out its defenses to survive the brutal waves of enemy onslaught.

A Futile, Four-Part Saga
Every region of the Samarin Empire has unique challenges, quests, and loot. Discover Omen’s four-act structure as you delve further into the burning remains of a once-great civilization. Each act, complete with its own set of questlines, mini-objectives, and loot drops, ends with a high-octane boss battle to test your upgraded weaponry, tactics, and skills. Battle through military bases, secret research facilities, and the Empire’s capital city before reaching The Veil. Secure final weaponry upgrades and team up with new allies to face the abominations of this otherworldly dimension. Do you have what it takes to overcome The Veil for good?

Gameplay Features

  • Base Defense Gameplay: Hordes of pirates, a legion of traitors, and an armada of cultists want you dead. Craft a variety of defensive structures and expand your base to withstand retaliatory enemy raids.
  • Extraction Shooter: Select a mission to complete allies’ objectives and extract valuable resources; if the enemy response fleet arrives, quickly stage your exit or be prepared to face powerful capital ships.
  • Four Act Saga: Uncover the truth behind The Veil across four distinct story arcs against a cosmic backdrop of Lovecraftian-styled myth. Each Act features a unique enemy faction and culminates in an epic boss battle.
  • Over 80 Items and Upgrades: Collect loot from enemy bases, select from a variety of ship hulls, and build a combination of over 80 weapons, defensive structures, abilities, and utility items. There are hundreds of different possible loadouts, each with unique strengths and drawbacks.

Omen is now available for PC on Steam. Players can join the Discord to take part in the Omen community while staying up to date with launch announcements and future patches. For more information about Codex Interactive, please visit their website.

Swordcery is available now in Early Access with an arsenal of spellbound blades you won’t find anywhere else. Hack and slash your way to victory as Colt, utilizing traditional swords, ones that can call upon the elements, or others that are creatures with minds of their own! Each sword is unique, telling its own story and serving its own purpose on its way to saving Armorial.

From Temple Door Games, a duo who helped create 2018’s God of War cinematics, Swordcery is a roguelike ARPG with whimsy, intensity, and swords galore. With countless swords to collect and procedurally generated dungeons to conquer, how Colt saves Armorial is up to you!

Key Features:

It’s time to make a stand against the Celestial evil that seeks to destroy the kingdom.
  • Unleash the Power of Spellbound Blades: As you venture forth, each new sword you find will come with a unique ability, aka its Swordcery. • Master the Blades: Every blade you find is categorized into a Sword Class, which has its own set of offensive maneuvers. From specific combos to unique abilities, each Sword Class may be more advantageous due to the terrain or combat situation. It is up to you to master and acknowledge which Sword Class’ attributes and attacks will work in unison along with your mighty Swordcery abilities.

A complex combat system makes the gameplay challenging but never unfair.

In Crystals Of Irm, you will lead a party of heroes – proud representatives of three unique guilds, each embracing a different combat style, but sharing the same quest: to restore the long-lost Crystals that must be united once again. But it’s no easy task. Legends speak of three horrifying dungeons where the Crystals were mysteriously hidden. Many before our heroes have succumbed on this glorious mission. On top of that, just like in a proper bullet hell, your agility will be tested because the key to survival is dodging enemy attack sequences.

Sounds good? We hope so! Coming to Cologne in August? Who isn’t! Check out our polished demo at the Indie Arena Booth. You can enjoy the game in both English and German.

WARDOGS IS COMING TO STEAM EARLY ACCESS ON 10 SEPTEMBER

PRE-ORDERS ARE LIVE NOW, GUARANTEEING ACCESS TO THE 21–23 AUGUST CLOSED BETA, AS BULKHEAD’S 100-PLAYER, THREE-TEAM TACTICAL FPS SURPASSES 800,000 STEAM WISHLISTS

Derby, UK – [11 August, 2026] – BULKHEAD and Team17 have announced that WARDOGS will launch into Steam Early Access on 10 September 2026, with pre-orders available on Steam now.

Every player who pre-orders WARDOGS will receive guaranteed access to the upcoming Closed Beta Weekend, taking place from 21–23 August. The beta will give players the opportunity to experience the game ahead of its Early Access launch and put its large-scale warfare, servers and core systems through their paces.

Pre-order WARDOGS on Steam now: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1867240/WARDOGS/

To mark the announcement, BULKHEAD has also released a candid new video outlining 10 reasons NOT to buy WARDOGS, covering everything from Early Access content, pricing and performance to monetisation, controller support and the high-stakes consequences of every decision players make in-game.

WARDOGS has now passed 800,000 wishlists on Steam, building on the response to its recent gameplay reveals and closed testing weekends.

At the centre of WARDOGS is the high-stakes Control Zone, where 100 players split across three rival teams fight to take control, secure cash and survive long enough to bank it.

WARDOGS combines tactical gunplay, combined-arms combat, construction, destruction and large-scale team play. Every death, vehicle purchase, journey and decision has a consequence, with every outcome reflected in the player’s account balance. Cash is not simply a score. It determines the risks players can take, the equipment and vehicles available to them and how much they stand to lose.

At Early Access launch, players will fight across three maps, each featuring three different variations, alongside a mix of infantry and vehicle combat. Local voice chat can also be heard across all three teams, creating unpredictable encounters between allies and enemies throughout each match.

“Taking pre-orders for an Early Access game is unusual, and we know some people will question it,” said Joe Brammer, CEO at BULKHEAD. “But WARDOGS has never been about playing it safe. Rather than asking players to take our word for it, every pre-order includes access to the Closed Beta, so they can get hands-on, see exactly where the game is today and make up their own minds. If they play it and decide it is not for them, that is completely fair.”

“WARDOGS is ambitious, rough around the edges and still has a long way to go, but that is exactly what Early Access should be. We are putting the game in players’ hands, listening to what they tell us and taking the risks needed to turn it into something that can last.”

WARDOGS will enter Early Access at $39.99 USD. Rather than charging the planned full-release price before every major feature has been delivered, BULKHEAD is introducing a stepped pricing model designed to reward players who support the game earlier in development.

During Early Access, the development team will prioritise stability, performance, balancing, bug fixes and the most important points raised by the community. BULKHEAD will also continue working towards the wider meta game and long-term systems planned for the full 1.0 release.

The studio has committed to having no in-game monetisation during Early Access, with the sole exception of an optional Supporters Edition containing cosmetic items for players who want to show additional support for the project. In-game cash, gold bars and status-based camouflage will not be available for purchase.

The Closed Beta Weekend begins on 21 August and concludes on 23 August. Access is guaranteed with every Steam pre-order.

WARDOGS launches into Steam Early Access on 10 September 2026.

Reign of Talon – Season 4: Heroes of Busan Brings Out the Best

Busan is worth defending. Its streets have survived Omnic attacks, its skyline has become one of Overwatch’s most recognisable battlegrounds, and the MEKA Squad has spent years standing between the city and the next catastrophe.

Our next season is built around the moments that make Overwatch special: trusting your team and rising to meet any occasion together.

Introducing D.Mon

D.Mon is coming at Season 4 launch, and she’s bringing her sword, shield, and a whole lot of MEKA muscle to the Tank roster. When the Junkers attack Busan and Talon infiltrate the MEKA base, D.Mon puts protecting the city first and rallies the resisting force around her. Time to MEKA Squad up!

Battle Pass Revamp

The Overwatch Battle Pass has come a long way, but Season 4 is set to deliver the biggest update yet. Instead of working through a fixed order, you’ll choose which Legendary skin you want to pursue first after completing an introductory track, so you can prioritise the things you want most. Topped off with a refreshed interface that makes things easier to follow, the Battle Pass Revamp will put more choice into your hands and reward the way that you actually want to play. For a deeper detailed dive, check out our Director’s Take!

Familiar Battlegrounds Refreshed

Busan will now bear the scars of the Junker assault and Talon’s attack on the MEKA base. Elsewhere, Paraíso will be getting ready to party, filling the streets with colourful decoration despite Domina looming over the city (figuratively and literally as a giant statue). Eichenwalde will also open new routes and traversal options.

New In Combat Feedback Features

The difference between winning and losing often comes down to information. In Combat Feedback features will set you up for success with a new Team Status Indicator, a Tank Hero Protect stat that identifies life-saving mitigation, multi-kill icons that celebrate a proper streak, clearer healing recognition, and damage contribution in the Activity Feed.

New Skins for Genji and Sojourn

Plus, don’t miss these epic events!

Shooting Star: My MEKA Mania!

The three-week Shooting Star: My MEKA Mania game show event will put the whole squad in the spotlight and let you put your support behind who you believe in. This is more than just the MEKA Squad’s story. Now it’s yours, too. Go all in on MEKA Mania, 12 to 31 August AEST!

World Cheer Cup Rally

The road to the Overwatch World Cup Finals started long before the first match at BlizzCon, and now you can help cheer your favourites all the way there! From 2 to 14 September AEST, the World Cup Cheer Rally event will let you celebrate ten years of unforgettable Overwatch esports by supporting the conference you call home.

Busan is calling, the MEKA Squad is ready, and D.Mon is coming.

Bring your friends and bring out the Hero in each other on the battlefield when Season 4 launches tomorrow!

More information on the new season of Overwatch can be found in the blog here.

Pax Autocratica Establishes Galactic Order in Steam Early Access Today

Build a totalitarian colony, suppress rebellion, and wage large-scale FPS roguelite battles

LOS ANGELES – Aug. 10, 2026 – All hail the Father, All Hail the supreme leader! Pax Autocratica, the darkly satirical totalitarian colony sim with large-scale FPS roguelite combat from independent developer Multiverse, unites the entire Tyris System under one glorious banner today on Windows PC via Steam Early Access.

Violence, poverty, chaos… the galaxy cries out for grand redemption and purification, and YOU shall answer the call. Lead a SUPERIOR REGIME to glory, unifying citizens through selfless compassion, propaganda, or abject fear…whichever proves most efficient. Remind the populace HOW LUCKY THEY ARE to participate in the construction of a brighter future.

Maintain order through RUTHLESS firm-yet-reasonablepolicies, and SHOW NO MERCY TO ANYONE WHO DARES QUESTION YOUR DECISIONS thwart unruly rebellion, defiance, and even indolence with appropriate disciplinary measures. Make an example out of defiant citizens with punishments, lifetime prison sentences, or public execution to ensure the continuous prosperity of the State.

Beyond the colony, spread the nation’s greatness to ignorant souls across the Tyris System, whether they ask for it or not. Personally lead your troops to victory through massive, screen-filling FPS roguelite battles, securing resources and seeking out Core Fragments to unlock powerful new abilities and combat strategies.

Demonstrate the State’s benevolence byliberatingenemies from their former allegiances. Weaken and capture enemy soldiers, bring them back to the colony to imprison them, convert them into loyal citizens, and grant them a new life in the GREATEST REGIME IN THE GALAXY.

Back home, expand the colony and develop a productive economy, medical services, ample employment opportunities, and housing for the ever-growing population. Every decree and decision carry consequences: some may inspire loyalty and obedience, while others foster fear, resentment, and the possibility of rebellion.

Erect surveillance towers to observe the population, broadcast PROPAGANDA patriotic campaigns across the colony, and ensure that every citizen receives the State’s prosperous message.

“Beneath the dark humor, our game presents a much deeper message,” said Freeman Fan, Founder and Studio Director at Multiverse. “Through this experience, while fun in itself, we explore how systems of control can present themselves as orderly, efficient, and even benevolent while gradually affecting the people living under them. The campaign goal is set at $100,000 USD to cover art production, printing, and manufacturing of backer rewards. Those include a Kickstarter-exclusive hardcover book with premium printing and exclusive content that will never be released outside of the crowdfunding campaign, as well as exclusive new POSTAL merchandise including T-shirts, pins, and art prints.

About Running With Scissors

Running With Scissors, founded in Tucson, AZ, in 1996 and now operating from all across the world, is an independent video game studio that develops and publishes outrageous games just for the hell of it. Best known for creating POSTAL, the cult-classic video game franchise. RWS‘s goals is to make action-packed games that are fun, funny, and possibly even politically correct. Our games feature wonderfully excessive amounts of violence; however, we are not in favor of real-life violence and believe it’s a hell of a lot better to act out your frustrations in video games rather than against your fellow man. The studio recently announced its upcoming game, Flesh & Wire, which is set to release in 2027.
