HEALTH Brings Max Payne 3 to Life with Music

If you have watched the recent official Max Payne 3 trailer (if you haven’t yet, watch it HERE) and were wondering just who was responsible for the awesome soundtrack, well you’re in luck! Rockstar Games have come forth and proudly announced that Los Angeles based rock bad, HEALTH are responsible for composing both the score and soundtrack of the game.

Member of the band, Jake Duzsik had this to say about their participation in the game:

Video games are redefining entertainment and whether people like it or not, they are becoming as culturally relevant as films. We feel that Rockstar’s projects have an undeniably raw and tasteful aesthetic. It’s vitally important to us that we be involved in things we respect artistically. Max Payne 3 has a complex story that unfolds mercilessly and we are excited to be a part of it.

The band’s style was also a perfect fit for Max Payne 3, mirroring the dark nature of the game and they also ensured that unique sounds and motifs were used to represent each specific locale in the game, carrying on Rockstar’s fantastic attention to detail.

If their music is something that you’re interested in then take a look at their Special Edition package, which includes the game’s soundtrack. Check out the other stuff included in the Special Edition package HERE.

Max Payne 3 will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation3 on May 15, 2012 in the US and May 18, 2012 in Australia and Europe, with the PC version launching on May 29th, 2012 in the US and June 1st, 2012 in Australia and Europe.

Star Wars: The Old Republic – More Patch 1.2 Facts

Star Wars: The Old Republic is coming into patch 1.1.5 today which means that the next major content patch is on its way, Patch 1.2. The Patch is labelled Legacy and will feature several new gameplay adjustments and improvements, many of which the community has been longing for.

For those of us watching the Live Summit over livestream, much of this information was revealed earlier, but, for those of us who haven’t tuned in, here is what’s going down. Firstly, there was a trailer with a tease of all the things to come, which I will embed below (thanks toroz.com.au).

This patch is to be called Legacy, which is going to be because of the massive expansion to the Legacy system in the game. Family trees, Legacy skills, Legacy armours and the like are all being implemented in this key content update. Even better will be the ability to transfer Legacy items across from one character to another, even if they’re from a different faction.

Other improvements include chat bubbles, guild banks, inviting players to groups from guild tab and other guild based improvements. More in-game events, companions added to ship to do vending with, improvements to companions and other great Improvements.

Most notably however, are the new gameplay content. A new warzone, operation and flashpoint are on their way and are as follows –

·         Flashpoint: Lost Island continues the Kaon Under Siege Flashpoint from Game Update 1.1 – Rise of the Rakghouls. Players must survive a menacing island of mystery on Ord Mantell as they hunt for clues to the Rakghoul virus outbreak that ravaged the Tion Hegemony. But the answers to this riddle may prove fatal!

·         Operation: Explosive Conflict sends groups of eight or sixteen Imperial or Republic players to a new zone on the planet of Denova, where traitors and mercenaries are selling the rare explosive mineral baradium to the highest bidder. Players will battle through hordes of Droids, mercenaries and deadly creatures all fighting for control of the planet and its valuable resources.

·         Warzone:  Novare Coast pits two teams in an epic battle to control multiple mortar locations and use them to bombard vulnerable enemy bases. Like the Huttball Warzone, Novare Coast can be played Republic vs. Empire or with players of the same faction fighting each other in a thrilling contest of wills to determine each side’s greatest champions.

On the expansion, Greg Zeschuk had this to say –

“Prior to release, our main priority for Star Wars: The Old Republic was to deliver a high quality game and service, right from day one,” said Dr. Greg Zeschuk, General Manager of the BioWare Label’s MMO Business Unit and Co-Founder of BioWare. “Now that we’ve achieved that, we have shifted our focus to adding more content to the game and improving and refining the experience for our fans. Legacy is our biggest update yet and a great example of the kind of content players can expect for the months and years ahead.”

Star Wars: The Old Republic Invite A Friend Trial

With the new patch coming in tonight, Bioware and EA have launched their latest way for new players to trial and enjoy Star Wars: The Old Republic, the invite a friend program. Players who are already a subscribing member of the title will be able to invite their friends and family to trial Star Wars : The Old Republic following tonights maintenance period.

The option to invite friends will be at the address linked here, and all players with an active account will be able to take advantage of this feature. However, this trial invite will only remain active for 14-days and any accepting player will only receive 7-consecutive days access. That means that if you play for 3 hours across a week, you will only have played 3 hours before your account expires and you’ll be required to buy the game to continue. However, as far as I can tell, only the opening areas for each faction will be opened to exploration. But from experience they are still amazing places to behold.

Leading game peripheral makers, Razer, team up with Sixense, a motion-control group to create the latest and best in motion control technologies, the Razer Hydra. And with the coming of this new control platform comes a new way to play on the leading PC platform, Steam.

That way of playing, motion controls. Players with the Hydra controller will notice that many Steam titles, such as Team Fortress 2, L4D2 and Half-Life 2 have all had this motion control experience added to their controls. Even better, Portal 2 will have new levels specifically designed with the Hydra in mind for players with the controller to enjoy.

“The Razer Hydra’s magnetic motion-sensing technology is the fastest and most precise to deliver a level of gaming immersion other motion-sensing tech in the industry right now can only dream of. Gamers are going to experience Valve’s new and legacy games in an amazing and fun way”, said Robert ‘RazerGuy’ Krakoff, President, Razer USA.

“Sixense is excited to bring the Razer Hydra motion gaming experience to the Steam community,” said Amir Rubin, CEO and Co-Founder, Sixense. “By wrapping Sixense MotionCreator inside Steam, the PC and Mac gaming platform of choice for both gamers and developers, we are able to provide plug-and-play functionality for the Razer Hydra to showcase our innovative motion gaming modes across game genres.”

Lollipop Chainsaw cartwheels to North America and Europe in June

Lollipop Chainsaw is probably one of the most unique games we will see all year, however Suda 51’s crazy little zombie killing cheerleader only had a vague 2012 release date. That was until today when Warner Bros. announced at GDC that the game is scheduled to be released on June 12th in North America. Europeans will need to wait a day longer as it will be released on June 13th there.

For those who don’t know about the game yet, players will play as Juliet Starling, a cheerleader who uses a colorful chainsaw to kill any zombies that get in her path, especially the ones that have invaded her school.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out Taps Out Temporarily

The Simpsons: Tapped Out has experienced an overload on their servers since its launch on March 1st, causing EA to temporarily remove it from the App Store to try and fix connectivity and lag issues. Bad news for those of you who didn’t manage to grab it in the first few days after its release, but for those who have already gotten it you can continue to play, with EA working hard to fix the issues that the overwhelming demand have caused.

The app will be returned to the App Store once they have fixed up the overload on the servers, although they have yet to give a time frame for when this might be. Given the incredibly positive feedback upon its release, it’s no surprise that it got overloaded. Then again, almost anything with the Simpsons in the title is bound to be a hit if produced properly.

Keep tuned to Capsule Computers for more information about the app as it comes, and when it may be available again for download.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Update Adds Free Trial

Star Wars: The Old Republic will be getting its 1.2 update next month, and in order to get more people hooked on the proverbial crack that is an MMO, Bioware and EA have announced that as of March 6th players can invite friends who haven’t previously played the game to a seven-day free trial.

The trial would allow SWTOR visitors to play up  until the fifteenth level of every class in the game, and they would then have to buy the game to unlock further play time and increase the level cap to the normal 50. The kicker is, they’ll get the game at a discounted price if they buy it digitally.

The 1.2 Update will include a new Operation and Warzone, as well as a new Flashpoint: Lost Island will continue the story from the Flashpoint in the Rise of the Rakghouls update as players keen on raiding will investigate a mysterious island which is the source of the Rakghoul virus virus outbreak. The patch will also bring forth the much vaunted Legacy system, which will allow players to connect their characters as family members, thus unlocking new race options and companion alignments.

So if you have a friend or two who have been on the fence about joining the Jedi or murdering with the Sith, now is the time to give them a taste of SWTOR. This is a limited time offer only, after all.

If you want more details on Patch 1.2, they’ve been busting them out faster than Han could shoot Greedo over at the SWTOR Twitter page.
