NIS America Announces Brand New Line Up

NIS America have just announced their exciting new line up for the year ahead, stretching out into 2013 with exclusive PlayStation 3 titles and anime releases for North America and Europe:

The Witch and the Hundred Knights – This one’s for the gamers. A PS3 exclusive, The Witch and the Hundred Knights is being brought to North America and Europe for a winter release. An RPG from Nippon Ichi Software where being bad is good, this title is set in a dark fantasy world that puts players in command of a 100 man team to chain attacks and demolish the opposition! The Witch and the Hundred Knights will hit consoles in early 2013.

Mugen Souls is another PS3 exlusive, this time bringing to the table turn based combat and expansive open worlds to explore and battle through. In a universe where seven different worlds exist freely, The Undisputed Goddess decides that everyone everywhere should bow to her. The customisation options in Mugen Souls allow players to create a full cast of characters to take on the threat, doing battle through each of the seven worlds.Mugen Souls will see a North American and European release this fall.

Next on the list for NIS America is Legasista, rounding out a trio of PS3 exclusives. Hitting shelves in August this year, Legasista is a dungeon crawling RPG with elements of survival and action: players can even import images from their PS3 to create their own unique playable characters. The plot sees a young man named Alto set off to recover the lost relics of science, which in the world of Legasista has fallen into ancient history, no longer a tool for advancement, but a thing of magic to be feared.

Worms Revolution Announced

Team 17 teased something special for March 30, and today delivered an announcement that will hit fans like a Concrete Donkey.

The long-running Worms franchise, which has lately been focused somewhat on re-releases and ports, is set to be revolutionized with the aptly-titled Worms: Revolution.

Due sometime in the third quarter 2012, Team 17 today released a video detailing the new game, which looks to follow the 2D gameplay path, but with 3D, possibly-cell-shaded visuals.

It also teases some unspecified “new features and challenges”, while fan favourites and series staples like Super Sheep and Holy Hand Grenades make an unsurprising return.

The game has been created in a brand-new engine, built from the ground up, and judging by the trailer, particle and liquid physics seem to have been bolstered.

Also intriguing is the varied shapes of the worms themselves. There’s a big tanky-looking one, and another with a huge head that cries “super intelligent”. Whether this affects gameplay or is just a means of distinguishing one team from another remains to be seen.

Details are obviously scarce at this early stage, but this is one we’ll be watching like a hungry bird.

Have a look at the announcement trailer below.

SBS On Demand Comes to PlayStation 3

PlayStation aficionados take note – your console of choice has just got itself another on demand service – SBS On Demand. Like most other on demands, SBS on Demand will provide free access to a TV catch up service for Australian PS3 users. SBS is well known for having a massively multicultural spread of content, with plenty of sport programmes, documentaries and films from a huge spread of countries. Michael Ephraim, Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia, had this to say about the new partnership:

“Announcing our SBS partnership, Australia’s premier broadcaster of original multicultural programming is exciting and signals our continued commitment to the expansion of the PlayStation 3 entertainment on demand offer. Our entertainment armory is broad, deep, immersive and compelling – with quality content across TV, games, music and movies.”

He continued, “We are dedicated to providing our PlayStation customers more content and choice in the way they choose to access and consume it. We know from other TV on demand roll-outs on PS3 in Australia there is great appetite for the trial, uptake and customer appreciation of the convenience of new online entertainment delivery methods. Further, the opportunity for content providers to access a footprint of 1.5 million PS3 consoles in Australia, on the highest selling console of 2011, is also an incredibly compelling one.”

Bluemouth announce some cool new Skylanders items

To say that Skylanders has created a phenomena would be an understatement, with stores wiped clean of stock as it hits the shelves and customers waiting in line for their favourite characters, as well as a thriving ebay trade with people willing to pay grossly overinflated prices in order to secure particular items. I had the pleasure of reviewing Skylanders a while ago and its not hard to see the attraction especially for the targeted audience which is primarily younger gamers. While being criticised by many Spyro fanboys for not releasing the original more adult orientated concept with more violence and gore, the title is immersive with an awesome storyline. Additionally it is multi-platform allowing gamers to take their characters to friends or events and use them regardless of the console they own. To compliment its incredible success, Bluemouth Interactive are proud to annouce a new range of licensed Skylanders merchandise including carry cases and some really cool Bobble head DS stylus pens.

Skylanders Spyros Adventures was the Number 1 IP of the 2011/2012 Summer in Australia. It introduced multi-platform play in a way never seen before, with each character having memory of its past travels and allowing gamers to utilise weapon upgrades and new items found in previous adventures. The managing director of Bluemouth Interactive, David Provan said,

“Being the local distributor for Skylanders gaming accessories in Australia / New Zealand, we’ve already seen that Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure is quite simply an ‘event-level’ gaming-franchise. With the extra action figures, an engaging story and an unparalleled interactive entertainment experience, consumers are already building their collections of Skylanders figurines and love for the game. With the amount of early sales we’ve observed, we can tell gamers are immersing themselves into the Skylanders World and are actively looking for ways to enhance their gaming experience with accessories and figurine storage options.”

Highlights from the new range include:
