Nintendo EB Games Expo Preview

nintendo-ebgames-expo-preview-night-001

So this year at the EB Games Expo in Sydney, gamers and attendees can expect a major presence from Nintendo. Speaking of Nintendo, they will primarily be showcasing their upcoming (and amazing) Wii U console and some of it’s launch line-up. Luckily for us here at Capsule Computers, we were given a preview to Nintendo’s booth before the actual event has taken place.

Nintendo have really gone out and created an amazing experience for gamers at this years booth. This is not only in terms of games and the Wii U itself, but also because of the incredibly friendly staff they had on roster for the event.

The booth itself portrays that Nintendo image that has come into being circa 2006 and everything has that clean Nintendo look and feel to it. This also includes the staff, who all seem to enhance this Nintendo aesthetic.

Now onto the games. At the preview we were sent to, we had the opportunity to go hands on with a number of upcoming Wii U titles. These included: Zombie U, Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. Wii U, Rayman Legends, Batman: Arkham City – Armoured Edition, Scribblenauts and Wii U Just Dance 4. What was really good about these was that the staff were pretty well informed of the games mechanics and the sections that we were being shown. This means that gamers probably wont get too stuck in any portions of the games. Heck, we even had one of the Nintendo guys join us in a game of Rayman.

The Wii U controller tablet device was really the star of the event as it was the primary playing device for a number of the games present, and for those that it was not, it served as a major function for a multiplayer aspect to the game. For instance, in both Mario Bros. and Rayman, the controller was used to assist players by modifying the playing field in some major way. This means that in New Super Marios Bros. U, players we able to stun or kill certain enemies, as well as create blocks for players to jump off from and on to.

The best thing about the Wii U tablet though, is that isn’t particularly weighty, nor is it particularly clunky. I mean, when you initially see it in person you’re like “Wow, this is bigger than I thought it’d be”, but then you use it and it’s amazingly comfortable. What’s even better is there is a kind of groove on the back of it that you can use as a grip when playing certain games, like the Ninja star throwing game on Nintendo Land. The controller is incredibly comfortable, and I think that players will definitely find this out for themselves on the show floor.

Overall I’d say that attendees visiting the Nintendo booth at the EB Games Expo event this weekend will have an amazingly fun time. The staff are friendly, the games are fun and most importantly, the Wii U is there. The very awesome Wii U.

Be sure to check out our gallery below of what Nintendo has to offer us this year at EB Games Expo.

Of Orcs and Men: Buddy Trailer

When two unlikely forces team up, you normally hear them bash each other quite regularly in good fun. Take for instance, Marvel’s Avengers that recently came out on Blue-ray and DVD. Thor, Captain American, Iron Man, and even the Hulk take shots at one another but eventually they pull out all the stops to become one hell of a team. That is basically the trials and tribulations that the characters Styx (goblin) and Arkaïl (orc) go through in their journey to rebellion.

In the following “Buddy Trailer”, listen close as Styx and Arkaïl build their bond with each other as they use their unique skills to take down foes but more importantly protect each other. In a week’s time Of Orcs and Men will be released on October 11th for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Additionally, there will be a digital download available for those that want to play as soon as the game launches. Find out more about purchasable options (here).

Resident Evil 6 London Butcher selling Human parts and limbs

Those with a tendency to lose their last meal at the sight of blood should probably not look any further regarding Capcoms latest publicity campaign for Resident Evil 6. Opening up a pop up butcher that sells human body parts called Wesker and Sons in London to appease those with a taste for human flesh (only joking). The various human parts including torsos, limbs and well… unmentionables were all designed by famous food artist Sharon Baker and for sale to the public pre the games release. The results were ultra-realistic as you can see and not something you should probably leave lying around on the back seat of the car when you go out. Either way a pretty cool idea despite the mixed reviews the game seem to get receiving from the reviewers.

Del Piero to take A-League crown

According to a simulation carried out on the upcoming Football Manager 2013, Alessandro Del Piero will have an amazing debut season playing Down Under for Sydney FC in the A-League. The former World Cup and Golden Boot winner who has chosen Sydney as his home for the 2012/2013 A-League season was given the honour of player of the season by the simulation.

Football Manager 2013 went on to reveal a few more secrets about the legends upcoming season, indicating a flurry of goals and teammate assists. Not surprisingly, his introduction onto the competition will be met with increased bums on seats and merchandise sales as fans flock to see their hero in action. Del Piero is not the only huge international signing into the League with the Jets managing to get their hands on Emile Heskie, whose season also looks set to create some sparks.

“This is going to be a big season for the A-League – and not just because of the arrival of a couple of big-name European players,” says Miles Jacobson, Studio Director of Sports Interactive. “It will also be interesting to see the impact made by the arrival of Western Sydney and the introduction of the new play-off system… both of which feature in Football Manager 2013. With all of this going on, we thought it would be fun to have a look ahead and see how the A-League season might pan out.”

Only time will tell the accuracy of the simulation but either way its all setup to be a cracker season.

Football Manager 2013 is available come November 2nd for both PC and Mac

Players looking at picking up the fairly good Carrier Command: Gaea Mission will probably want to check out the games demo that was just released online. The demo introduces players to the Carrier Command gameplay by having two unique missions that see the players conquering the islands of Thermoplyae and Granite.

The demo also features a commentary by the games developers and showcases combat for both of the in-game vehicles. Those are the amphibious tanks, Walruses, and the flying vehicles, Mantas. The demo is set to take around 45minutes to complete.

Be sure to check out the official website for the demo file.

Bethesda opens Battlecry Studios in Texas

0

Bethesda has announced that they are opening up a new development studio in Austin, Texas called Battlecry Studios. Interestingly enough the man who is in charge of the studio is the former executive producer at BioWare who was responsible for Star Wars: The Old Republic, Rich Vogel.

Currently it is unknown what the studio will be working on but Zenimax has placed a help-wanted type ad on their jobs board which has a listing for a number of key positions within the studio. Obviously they have literally just gotten off the ground so it is doubtful the studio is going to assist with The Elder Scrolls Online, but we may hear something from the studio in the next few months.

Gameglobe Second Trailer Released

Gameglobe is an exciting game making game tool that is being published by Square-Enix. What this game program does is it allows for players to build games for other players to play. From the looks of things in the trailer, it looks like it will be able to handle a multitude of different game genres. I think I saw things like RPGs and Platformers in there, though it may not just be limited to those two types.

Gameglobe is a web browser based platform and as such is limited by the tools that the developers have included with the title. I’m sure that fans of games like RPG Maker will definitely want to check this out later this year.

Be sure to check out the official site and register for the beta version. Also make sure to check out the trailer below.
