In a rather strange turn of events, rather than announce a licensing of one of the new anime starting in Winter 2013, Sentai Filmworks has announced that they have acquired the license to Tegami Bachi: Reverse, an anime which is the sequel to Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee (also licensed by Sentai), which aired originally back in 2010 and 2011.

The company has not announced exactly when fans can expect to see the anime hit store shelves, though the announcement did mention that the release will be a subtitle only DVD. As for the story of Tegami Bachi: Reverse, it follows a young boy named Lag Seeing who delivers messages throughout the world of AmberGround and has the special ability to see the memories of both people and items.

Mutant Mudds 2 confirmed by Renegade Kid

mutant-mudds-04If you were concerned that you would never be seeing another Mutant Mudds title, you can now breath a sigh of relief. Today it was confirmed that Renegade Kid is indeed working on Mutant Mudds 2. This information comes from Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham himself.

On Twitter he told an inquisitive fan that “Yes, Mutant Mudds 2 is confirmed.” This marks the first time that he has ever officially confirmed that the game is in development, though it is worth noting that Mutant Mudds Deluxe, the Wii U version of the original Mutant Mudds which is being released in Q1 2013, is the company’s main priority at the moment.

Atelier Ayesha rated by ESRB; listed for Tecmo Koei [Updated]

atelier-ayesha-alchemy-artwork

Despite the fact that Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk was released in Japan back in June, there has been little word of the title actually being released overseas. It is worth noting that a European version of the game was announced for release during Q1 2013, however oddly enough, the game has not been announced for North America.

However hope for the a North American release has been ignited once again thanks to the fact that the ESRB have provided a rating for Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk. The rating went up earlier today and interestingly enough, the listing actually shows “TECMO KOEI AMERICA Corporation” under the game’s Company compared to the other listings for Atelier titles which are labeled “NIS America, Inc.”

It is worth noting that Gust, developer of the Atelier games, was purchased by Tecmo Koei in Japan at the end of 2011, so this could mean that Tecmo Koei may be handling the title in the West entirely now, instead of just for European nations as previously thought.

As for the rating itself, the game was given a Teen rating and the summary can be found below:

This is a role-playing game in which players assume the role of Ayesha, a young girl attempting to save her sister by learning alchemy. Players control and encounter characters, explore various landscapes, and battle numerous fantastical enemies (e.g., rock monsters, lizards). Players use swords, magic attacks, crossbows, and occasional firearms in turn-based battles (i.e., selecting attack moves from a menu screen).

During the course of the game, a handful of cutscenes include suggestive material: two female characters accidentally groping each other in a dark cave; a female character discussing being touched by men (e.g., “Whenever something happened, some guys would always touch my butt in the midst of the confusion”); two female characters taking a bath together (deep cleavage is depicted). One scene briefly depicts the central character passing out after drinking alcohol; dialogue also refer to intoxication (e.g., “I guess I’ll start with the hard liquor! Give me one that’s got a high proof!” and “If anything, there’s so little alcohol, even a kid might not get drunk off of it.”). One character is occasionally smokes cigarettes in the game.

Update: We have contacted NIS America concerning this listing and Ryan Philips, Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator at the company, has stated that “We [NIS America] did localize Atelier Ayesha, however Tecmo Koei will be publishing it.” So while this means that NIS America still handled the translation and the voice work, Tecmo Koei is going to be handling the final publishing and marketing.

New Walking Dead FPS Trailer Fake, but Made from Real in Game Footage

walking-dead-survival-instinct

Yesterday a trailer was released on the Internet for the upcoming Walking Dead first person shooter, Survival Instincts, and many were simply not impressed. Dan Amrich, the Activision community manager, posted on his blog that the trailer that he posted was not official but did have real in game footage in it. The footage was taken from an interview that had clips of the game in it.

Despite the trailer not being official, the fact that it does have real in game footage makes most people’s reactions to the trailer still valid. The original fan trailer has since been taken down and the user’s Youtube account deleted.

Microsoft starts E3 2013 countdown

microsoft-e3-countdown

Take this as you will, but today Xbox Live’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb posted a timer counting down to E3 2013 with the simple statement “And it’s on.” Exactly what is on is unknown, though many people have been scrambling to try and come up with ideas as to what may be on.

The biggest theory, which is rather believable, is that Microsoft will probably reveal their next Xbox system at E3 2013 in June so many people are standing behind that theory. What do you think this could be? Just a simple count down to the beginning of the event… or perhaps something more?

Well ever since it was revealed back in October we haven’t heard anything about the title. However it seems that drought of information will soon end as one of the PR reps for the title, Tom Ohle has taken to Twitter to mention that he is currently watching the first trailer for Cyberpunk 2077.

After being asked when the trailer would be shown to the public he responded saying “Next Weekish.” Although he has since deleted those Tweets he wasn’t fast enough to hide them forever, we all should know what that means, be sure to stay tuned to see what this game will entail once it’s first trailer is released at some point next week.

Minecraft XBLA hits 5 million sales in 2012

minecraft-360-edition-review- (5)

Let it never be said that a game that can be taken as a virtual Lego building experience can’t take the world by storm regardless of platform. Ever since being released in the middle of the year, Minecraft on the XBLA has been selling incredibly well, so well in fact that 4J Studios has revealed that they have sold 5 million virtual copies of the title by the time 2012 ended.

It may also help that on Christmas Day Minecraft XBLA was downloaded by 453,000 new players, which certainly helped push it towards that goal. 4J Studios is still currently working on patches for the title which not only fix various bugs but also add new content and it seems that they will be doing so for the foreseeable future.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 may be released March 12

sniper-ghost-warrior-2-screenshot-01

The number of games coming out in January has decreased slightly thanks to the fact that Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 has been delayed once again. The title was originally meant to be released sometime in August 2012, but then was delayed to October before finally being delayed until January 15th. However it seems those delays weren’t enough as it turns out City Interactive has now stated that the game will be released on March 12th instead.

Of course, unless it is delayed once again and at this point that could be possible. As for the game itself, it is the sequel to the original Sniper: Ghost Warrior where players take the role of Cole Anderson, a Private Security Consultant, who has to complete various missions around the world, mostly focusing on stealth and sniping.
