GTA: Vice City is finally on the PSN, the seemingly neglected middle child of the Grand Theft Auto trilogy finally joins its siblings on the PlayStation Store. Part of the PS2 Classics collection, Vice City is indeed a classic, telling the rise of Tommy Vercetti in the city based off of Miami during the craziness of the 80’s. Including a stellar soundtrack with classics of the time.
Fans of the game are now able to go motoring again or those that missed out on it previously can finally see what they’ve been missing; cars, helicopters, and characters. The price for flight this time is AUD$14.45 or NZD$18.95 players can download the open world shooter today from HERE, but it should be pointed out that Rockstar will have more announcements for the PS2 Classics Collection soon. So, even if GTA: Vice City ain’t Mr. Right, there might be another title you’re more interested in coming down the road.
Trion Worlds, developers of Rift, have announced a release date of their upcoming title, Defiance. Defiance, an online open-world shooter will be coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on April 2nd.
Set to release 13 days before the debut of Syfy’s television series of the same name, Defiance will put players in the role of an Ark Hunter in a large open world where players “hunt alone or with others as you improve your skills and level up, unlocking powerful weapons that will help you survive the massive battles that await.”
The Syfy television show of the same name is set to launch on April 15. Defiance is now available for preorder both online and via major game retailers, and will come with a Standard, Collectors Edition, and Ultimate Edition. Today, Paramount Pictures’ Academy Award-nominated drama Flight has been released in Australian cinemas nationwide.
We’ve been covering the lead-up to it’s release, sharing some official clips promoting the film. We’ve got one final video to commemorate it’s Australian release, which can be viewed below. It is called ‘Uncontrolled Dive’ and shows part of the most intense scene of the film.

In the upcoming issue of Empire Magazine, Terence Stamp reflects upon the experience of working with George Lucas in Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace…and it didn’t intellectually stimulate him in the slightest.
Terence apparently did not strike a friendship of any sort with Lucas, saying, “We didn’t get on at all.” He joins the club of fans who resent Lucas for the very same prequel trilogy Stamp appeared in. He goes on, “I didn’t rate him that much as a director really. I didn’t feel he was a director of actors, he was more interested in stuff and effects. He didn’t interest me and I wouldn’t think I interested him”. I think that first part of the statement is a common belief amongst many.
Stamp had his reservations about doing the film at all, but was excited at the prospect of working with actor such as Natalie Portman. He flew across the world, to here in Australia for filming, only to be sorely disappointed. When he arrived on set for a scene and asked George where she was, George pointed to a piece of paper on the wall and said “That’s Natalie.” Stamp summed up the experience, “It was just boring”.

The long rumoured film adaptation of the extremely popular Warcraft video game series has finally announced a director for the project. Duncan Jones, whose previous works include Moon (2009) and Source Code (2011), is set to undertake the role. Director Sam Raimi, of Spiderman and Evil Dead fame, was previously annouced as director though he departure the project in 2012.
Now don’t hold your breath everyone, as well all know films based off video games don’t exactly translate well, see past fails: the awful Max Payne film, Tekken and the notorious 1993 live action Super Mario Bros. film (face palm).

Warcraft is said to have a $100 million+ production with the guys behind Man of Steel and The Dark Knight Rises Legendary Pictures producing the film. Blizzard and Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Alex Gartner are reportedly working on the film as well.
The Warcaft movie has been rumoured to be in development/not in development ever since Legendary Pictures acquired film rights for Warcraft in 2006.
The strategy-turned-MMO game series is beloved by millions of fans around the world, now let’s hope they don’t stuff this up.

In the wake of the many shootings that have been publicly covered by the media in the United States, many politicians are moving for stricter control over violent video games. This includes Senator Leland Yee, who has the opinion that gamers don’t have the proper perspective on the issue.
“Gamers have got to just quiet down,” Yee, D-San Francisco, said in an interview last Tuesday. “Gamers have no credibility in this argument. This is all about their lust for violence and the industry’s lust for money. This is a billion-dollar industry. This is about their self-interest.”
Considering the main people to know the most about video games, are gamers, this seems like a very inaccurate statement. Yes, gamers can be very defensive about games, sometimes to a fault. However, to blame the deaths that have happened lately on video games, is quite frankly, disgusting to this American writer.
In addition to this, Republican Senator Lamar Alexander has stated that right now “video games are a bigger problem than […] guns”. You can view the entire segment in the video right here.
I live in a city in the United States where 200 gun related deaths happened in the year of 2012. That is more than the American casualties in the Iraq war in 2012. Gun related deaths. Not video game related deaths. People with guns shot them. To dance around the real issue of gun control by scapegoating to video games is an insult to the victims of these shootings.
Real people are dying at the hands of real guns. This is beyond video games. This is an issue that should have opened up much more attention to gun control and to the assistance of the mentally ill and address gang violence more seriously.
How many more people have to die for politicians to pay attention to the real problems? We as a country are wasting our time and money on this distraction of violent video games when we could have been on track to spend resources on things that could actually stop people from being killed. Politicians are holding the interests of the NRA instead of the people who have been murdered.
Gang violence is real. Mental illness is real. Guns are real. Video games are not real. Fix the real issues.
