New Hunter x Hunter Chimera Ant Arc Visual Revealed

hunter-x-hunter-chimera-ant-scan
In the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump a new visual for the upcoming and hotly anticipated Hunter x Hunter Chimera Ants arc was revealed. The new visual which can be seen in the scanned image above features the character designs for all three Royals Guards and of course the Chimera Ant King himself Meruem.

The 2011 Hunter x Hunter anime which is currently airing will be finally entering the Chimera Ant arc on April 21st, 2013. The previous anime series ended before the Chimera Ants arc and thus has left quite a strong desire from fans of the Hunter x Hunter manga to see this arc animated. The arc is often touted as the best of the entire manga.

At this point there has not been any confirmation in terms of casting for Meruem, Neferpitou and the rest of the Royal Guards. It was confirmed however that legendary voice actor Shuichi Ikeda will be playing the role of Gon’s childhood mentor Kite.

With the rise of the Chimera Ants it looks like Gon and friends will surely have their work cut out for them, but its nothing Gon’s ‘Janken’ couldn’t handle right?

Origin Users at Risk from Origin Store Hack

origin-logo

Detailed in a paper by Luigi Auriemma and Donato Ferrante of ReVuln, Origin users are at risk from a fairly simple hack used in the Origin store. What is basically done is that when the player opens a game, a hacker can replace some code so that the player actually opens a malicious link. The graph below visualizes this idea.

Origin-hacking.jpg

In the paper, the authors describe how this can be done, in addition to how they can find the essential player data in order to pull off the hack.

An attacker can bruteforce the Game ID field in the URI in order to find a vulnerable game installed on the victim’s system […] This way,an attacker can perform a no-look attack against remote systems, without having any knowledge of the specific games installed on the remote system itself.

A proper way to prevent this is to set your browsers to prompt or disable the origin:// handler. The paper itself goes into further detail. All machines with the Origin software installed are at risk, including non window machines. If your browser supports custom URI handlers, you are at risk.

Atelier Totori Plus released in English on the PlayStation Store; Dual-Audio included

atelier-totori-plus-vita-release

Woah. I mean, this is great news but Tecmo Koei has really caught everyone by surprise here. Today with the PlayStation Store’s update the company has released the PlayStation Vita port of Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland in English without even saying that they were actually going to do it.

While the game was rated for release in Australia, Tecmo Koei never mentioned that they had any plans of releasing the game overseas, so this is certainly a great surprise though probably some form of marketing would have been good. The title is available for download at the PlayStation Store for $39.99 and if you buy the game before April 16th you will unlock the “Devil Bikini” and “Angel Swimsuit” costumes for Totori. It is also worth noting that early buyers of the game have stated that the game does include both the original English voice work recorded by NIS America and the Japanese voice track as well.

The folks at Epic and People Can Fly can finally breathe a sigh of relief.  Gears of War: Judgment, the newest title in the award-winning franchise, has finally hit store shelves today.

Set before the original Gears trilogy, players will take on the roles of Baird, Cole, and the rest of the Kilo squad as they stand trial.  The game features a “testimonials”-based story, new multiplayer modes, new weapons, and more.

Said Alan Van Slyke, Epic Games Senior Producer:

“Our goal for ‘Judgment’ was to deliver an intense experience that gets back to the gritty, visceral action that defined the original ‘Gears of War,’ while also pushing the franchise into some bold, uncharted territory.”

Judgment introduces several firsts to the franchise, including the “Smart Spawn System” that ensures encounters are fresh, even if you’ve already played through a segment before.  It also introduces the “Mission Declassification” system, which allows players to ramp up the difficulty of a mission for more story.  Judgment also introduces a new cooperative gametype called Survival.

Players that are interested but unable to get to the game yet can check out the game’s page and the OverRun demo on Xbox Live.  Be sure to check out our coverage and interviews as well, and keep your eye out here for our upcoming review.
