Madman to Screen ‘Parasyte: Part 1’ in Australian Cinemas for One Day Only

Madman Entertainment has just announced that they will be screening Toho’s film Parasyte: Part 1 in Australian cinemas for one day only on April 26, 2015. Madman provided a synopsis for the film:

PARASYTE: PART 1 tells the story of Shinichi Izumi, an ordinary high school student who is attacked by an alien parasite – a mysterious worm-like creature which penetrates the ears or nose of an ordinary human, attaching itself to the brain and eventually taking over the entire body. Whilst Shinichi is able to fight off the parasite before it reached his brain, it remains within his right hand.

Shinichi Izumi and the parasite now live as one. They both come to understand that if one dies, then so will the other. In a bid to survive, they join forces to fight against the threat of other parasites.

Parasyte is a worldwide best-selling sci-fi/horror manga series by Hitoshi Iwaaki that was published from 1988 to 1995. Kodansha Comics USA republished the eight kanzenban volumes in North America between July 2011 and August 2012. The film, based on the manga series, opened in Japanese cinemas on November 29, 2014 and topped the opening weekend box office charts. It is directed by visual effects master Takashi Yamazaki, who has worked on The Eternal Zero, Always Sunset on Third Street and Space Battleship Yamato.

Tickets and cinema locations will be confirmed soon.

This week the anime adaptation of Kantai Collection ended in Japan and at the end of the broadcast it was revealed that a second season would be coming. It is currently unknown exactly when this second season will air, especially since this season suffered numerous delays and still was poorly received due to its lack of consistency and heavy focus on an unpopular main character while leaving popular characters in the background.

For those who don’t know, this anime adaptation is of a popular free-to-play browser game of the same name based around “Fleet Girls”, all of whom are vaguely based off of historic WWII ships, as they battle against abyssal ships. At the moment the series has not been licensed for release in the West but is still available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
