A few weeks ago we reported about a new visual novel from Invertmouse that had not only launched a Kickstarter but was also listed on Steam Greenlight for voting and now with under a week left to go, there has been plenty of good news for the project.
Cursed Sight has not only made it through Steam Greenlight, meaning the title will be available for purchase on Steam when it is released, but it has also cleared its funding goal and then some. While Invertmouse was only asking for $2,000 AUD the project has raised $4,942 AUD at the time of this writing meaning that every basic stretch goal for the title has been released outside of the final stretch goal of $9,000 AUD for a Chinese translation of the game.
There are currently six days left to pledge money towards Cursed Sight with pledges of a minimum of $3 AUD netting a digital copy of the game for PC, Linux, or Mac when it is released. You can read more about the title as well as additional back tiers on the Kickstarter page.
A new batch of English screenshots as well as an updated box art for Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed have been released by Idea Factory International and this time around they focus on showing off a few of the game’s menu screens and systems. These screenshots show some of the systems, including Lily Rank, which will increase this time by having characters fight together with the higher rank providing bonus EXP and other benefits.
Also shown is the City Watch where players will view events and check on the latest news of their exploits on the battlefield and finally an actual cheat system that will unlock a number of “high-five-worthy game-breaking system settings” as described by the game. Currently Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed is set to be released on the PS Vita in North America and Europe sometime this spring.
A couple of months ago NIS America surprised their fans by announcing that they would be releasing the long-delayed in Japan Rodea the Sky Soldier in the West sometime this year and now they have announced when they plan on making the title available for purchase.
Rodea the Sky Soldier will be released on the Wii U and 3DS in North America on September 22nd while Europe will get the game on September 25th. As previously announced, all first print copies of the Wii U release will come with the original Wii release that never saw an official release until now.
Recently NIS America announced the first set of DLC forOperation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy which is set to be released on the PS Vita in North America on June 9th and in Europe on June 5th. This DLC primarily focuses on adding extra character portraits and color palettes for these portraits to the game.
The other pack involves bonus content that will unlock some special items as well as the ability to raise enemy levels a certain amount. The first portrait pack and the bonus content will be free at release until July 9th and cost $.99 after, while the more interesting portrait pack, the one involving swimsuits of course, will cost $.99 at launch.
Today at Anime Boston MangaGamer had two announcements to make, one of which fans have been waiting on for quite some time. Awhile back MangaGamer revealed that they were planning on releasing Higurashi on Steam but despite the wait, it still hasn’t happened yet but now we know why. At the event the company announced that they have acquired Higurashi Hou, which means that they will be releasing every single chapter of Higurashi in a definitive version for both Japan and the West.
This includes all four Question Arcs, all four Answer Arcs (called Higurashi Kai), all three arcs of Higurashi Rei (never before in English), Hinamizawa Teiryuujyo, Higurashi Outbreak, and a brand new arc called the Kamikanshi Chapter. All fourteen of these chapters will be released individually for PC on Steam and on MangaGamer’s website as they make progress on the title.
The first chapter, Higurashi When They Cry Hou Ch. 1 – Onikakushi, will be released on May 15th for $5.99 though it is unclear whether or not each chapter will cost the same from in the future. All of these releases will feature upgraded sprites (including Higurashi Hou sprites) and the options to switch between the new sprites and the old, new background music, and the ability to switch between the English translations and the original Japanese text at will.
In non-Higurashi related news, MangaGamer also announced that they have acquired circletemp’s MYTH visual novel. This adult visual novel which draws upon Norse mythology follows the story of a boy who lives in a “world of light” where no shadows exist until he encounters a girl with a shadow and begins to explore the darkness of a different realm with her. The title is only partially voiced but is described to have a strong soundtrack. Currently no price or release window has been given for MYTH but there will be an All-Ages release to go along with the original 18+ version when the title is released.

ID@Xbox: Submerged is a Lonely and Beautiful Experience
We have some information about one of the upcoming games from the ID@Xbox programme; Submerged. Submerged is the tale of two siblings – sister Miku and younger brother Taku – wash up in a half-sunken city. Injured during the journey, Taku must rest while Miku explores the city to find supplies. Submerged’s pace is a deliberate slow burn, offering small tastes of Miku’s backstory in the form of pictogram memories and dreams.
The post-apocalyptic setting definitely isn’t anything new, but Submerged offers a unique spin on it. There aren’t zombies, or aliens, or a resistance fighting a never-ending war; in their place, there’s a huge ocean that seems to have swallowed up humanity. Was it natural disaster? How far into the future are we? These are the questions we hope to find answers to when Submerged releases on Xbox One later this year via ID@Xbox.
So there we have it folks, another installment of the ever popular Xbox Newsbeat. We hope you enjoyed this week’s headlines, and that you’re enjoying your long weekend! Make sure you stay tuned to Capsule Computers for all of the awesome Xbox news as it becomes available.
