Broken Sword Franchise awarded a Guinness World Records title

London, 3rd February 2016, Today Revolution Software received confirmation from the Guinness World Records®, the global authority on record breaking, that Broken Sword franchise now holds the Record for the “Longest running graphic adventure protagonist”.

Since starring in 1996 debut Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars, US lawyer cum adventurer George Stobbart and French journalist Nicole “Nico” Collard have appeared in all four sequels of Revolution’s cult point-and-click series. The most recent release was the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Broken Sword 5: The Serpent’s Curse in September 2015.

“We are incredibly honoured to receive this award on behalf of George and Nico. They are friends who have grown up with us through thick and thin: they are embedded in the Revolution history. And we are celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Revolution this year and so the award could not be better timed!” said Charles Cecil, Founder & CEO of Revolution

The achievement will also be recognised in the next edition of the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition 2017.

Revolution has just announced the release of Revolution: the 25th Anniversary Collection box set on 11th March 2016, exclusively on PC, which will contain all its games, as well as extensive physical and digital collectables.

Spark One-of-a-Kind Conversations with Friends; App Launches in March Alongside My Nintendo Rewards Program

3rd February 2016Nintendo’s first app made exclusively for smart devices, Miitomo, will launch in Australia and New Zealand in March for both iOS and Android phones and tablets. Today, Nintendo outlined the steps that fans can take to be among the first to get in on the social fun. 

Starting 17th February 2016, people in Australia and New Zealand will be able to pre-register for Miitomo by creating a Nintendo Account using their Nintendo Network ID, social Network accounts or email address. People who pre-register for Miitomo will be among the first to be notified about the availability of Miitomo when it launches in March.

Miitomo is a social experience that uses Nintendo’s Mii characters to engage friends in a lighthearted, playful and welcoming social setting. Mii characters first debuted on the Wii console and to-date, more than 200 million Mii characters have been created around the world. Using Mii characters users will be able to interact with their friends in an entirely new way to spark fun and interesting conversations by answering questions such as “what song has been stuck in your head lately?”, “do you believe in aliens?”, or even “if you saw a nose hair sticking out of your friend’s nose, what would you do?” By answering questions in Miitomo users will be able to discover surprising information and secrets about their friends, as well as share their experiences with others easily by taking and sharing photos featuring their Mii using the Miifoto feature.

Nintendo’s new My Nintendo rewards program will launch alongside Miitomo in March 2016, and will be able to connect with Miitomo. A special Miitomo bonus will be offered to anyone in Australia and New Zealand that creates a Nintendo Account between 17th  February and the launch of Miitomo in March. My Nintendo aims to become much more than a traditional rewards program. It is a more comprehensive service that rewards users for interacting with Nintendo products and services in a variety of ways. Miitomo users with a Nintendo Account will be able to take advantage of My Nintendo to enhance their experience. 

Including Miitomo, Nintendo plans to release approximately five smart device applications by the end of March 2017.

7th Dragon III Code: VFD Gets a New Trailer and Screens for the 3DS

I’ll be honest. I never heard of this game at all until I read the press release, but it looks like western audiences are in for a real treat. The dungeon crawler/RPG hybrid 7th Dragon III Code: VFD is coming to the 3DS from Sega, and this is huge news considering the franchise has never set foot in the west before. This is an imageepoch title, so if you trust the makers of Stella Glow, you should definitely look a little closer.

To give you a taste of what you’ll be looking at when 7th Dragon III drops later this year, here’s a quick look at what the game is about:

  • A bleak world and engaging story – The year is 2100, dragons have invaded Earth and are ravaging the human race. As the protagonist, players must team up with “video game company” Nodens Enterprises to become a dragon hunter and save the universe.
  • Unique settings and time periods – Fortunately for humanity, Nodens Enterprises has found the key to tip the scales in favor of mankind. The protagonist must travel through time to three different eras — the mythical kingdom of Atlantis, futuristic capital of the land of Eden, and present-day Tokyo — in order to defeat the True Dragons and stand a chance against the most powerful one… the 7th Dragon: VFD.
  • A deep party system and character customization options – All characters are completely customizable from the get-go. Players will be joined by two squad members in the field, and have up to nine characters in their party. With eight classes (such as Samurai, God Hand, Rune Knight, and more), 40 voice options, and 96 appearance options, gamers will have plenty of options to develop the perfect dragon hunting team.
  • Base building with Nodens Enterprises HQ – Fighting dragons is tough work, but at least the team can recuperate at HQ where they can develop skills, collect side quests, and even go on dates. In addition, more floors such as a library, skylounge, and cat café can be added in order to improve HQ. Yes, you read that correctly, it says cat café.
  • Lots of dragons! – Although there are a variety of enemies to fight, it would be wise to be prepared for the myriad dragons you’ll face. It’ll take careful planning and strategy to defeat these dragons, so choosing the right squad — and right look — is paramount!

Operation Black Ice Update Out for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege

The first content update is out for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege today on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Dubbed “Operation Black Ice,” the arctic themed pack introduces a new map set on a yacht, two Canadian JTF2 operators, new weapon skins, and the Spectator Camera feature for all platforms in custom games.

The JTF2 is Canada’s highly secretive Tier One special operations unit. Though now officially serving as part of the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command, the group was rarely acknowledged by the government for most of its life. Two parka clad JTF2 members will be joining the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege roster. Buck is a Quebecois assaulter wielding an underbarrel shotgun as his special ability. Frost has a leg trap ironically named welcome mat to trap unsuspecting foes in its grasp.

Season Pass holders will unlock the JTF2 operators right away. Non-season pass owners will have to pony up 25,000 Renown for each operation starting February 9th.

Video Game Industry Leader To Offer Competitive Tournament, Free Play For Attendees At Ten Wizard World Events

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., February 2, 2016 – Wizard World, Inc. (OTCBB: WIZD) and Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced an agreement to feature the highly-anticipated Street Fighter® V fighting game at Wizard World Gaming events throughout 2016, beginning in Portland, Ore., from February 19-21 at the Oregon Convention Center.

Event attendees can visit the Capcom free play area at Wizard World Gaming shows to play Street Fighter V. Additionally, at the main event stage, gamers can compete in a tournament for $3,000 in cash as well as other prizes, with the action streamed live online for a global audience.

One Piece: Burning Blood Launches in North America on May 31st

Last week it was announced that Bandai Namco would be releasing One Piece: Burning Blood in Europe on June 3rd and now we know when the title will be hitting North America. The company has announced that the title will be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PS Vita on May 31st with the PC version dropping sometime in June.

Those who pre-order One Piece: Burning Blood in North America will be given “Afro Luffy,” “Kung Fu Luffy,” and “Fourth Gear Luffy” as playable characters. To go along with this announcement Bandai Namco also released a number of new screenshots introducing Edward Newgate “Whitebeard,” Marco, Jozu, Jimbei, and Luffy before the two year time skip as playable fighters as well as a trailer showing off the previously announced female characters.
