Sci-fi Tower Defense hit arrives on Xbox One and PS4

After the successful Steam launch of action tower defense game McDROID, the intergalactic hit becomes available on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store today, for only $7.99. The console versions of McDROID have been developed by Grip Digital.

Prague, 4th March 2015 – McDROID is a mix of action and tower defense gameplay, developed by the innovative team at Elefantopia. Prague studio Grip Digital, also known for current hit The Solus Project, is responsible for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions.

When you mix creativity, tough action, gorgeous art style and lots of humor – you get McDROID. One of the most unique Tower Defense action games you can find in this part of the galaxy! We are proud of the game and can’t wait to see it in the hands of players on PS4 and Xbox One,” says Jakub Mikyska, co-founder and CEO of Grip Digital.

In McDROID you take control of the titular cute little robot who crash-lands on a lush planet infested with alien scum. In order to repair your ship and to heal the planet, you will have to show the aliens some really close encounters of the lethal kind. McDROID will be tasked with building a base and defenses, harvesting resources and discovering numerous crazy sci-fi weapons, as swarms of alien enemies try to take the brave ‘bot down. You can leave the dirty work to your automatic turrets, or you can join the fight yourself. McDROID is a game for players of all ages who are looking to test their wits and flex their trigger fingers.

Dead Island Definitive Collection Announced for May 31st Release

dead-island-definitive-collection-screenshot-001

It appears that it is hard to keep a zombie down, even when it’s a zombie game. Deep Silver has announced that they will be releasing Dead Island Definitive Collection, a game that contains both the first Dead island and Dead Island: Riptide in remastered form and all of their DLC, on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Both games will retain the same mechanics and co-op as before and will now feature higher quality textures, a new photo-realistic lighting system, physically based shading, anti-aliasing, and improved models.

The Dead Island Definitive Collection will also contain a new Dead Island Retro Revenge which is a retro styled side-scroller focusing on melee combat with power-ups and super attacks. When released on May 31st the title will cost $39.99 though they will be released separately for $14.99 a piece, minus the aforementioned retro title.

Far Cry Primal Map Recycled from Far Cry 4

far-cry-primal-screenshot-003

It appears that Ubisoft took a little shortcut when it came to Far Cry Primal. The people over at Gamepressure must have had a hunch that they had seen the lay out of Far Cry Primals map before and it turns out they were right. After comparing the basic features, such as the layout of the rivers, ponds, and explorable land, Far Cry Primal‘s map is extremely similar to the one found in Far Cry 4, though one is set in Eastern Europe during the Stone Age and the other is in the modern day Himmalayas.

far-cry-primal-maps-001

The enlargeable comparison image can be seen above with Far Cry 4 shown to the left and the map from Far Cry Primal on the right. Considering the fact that Far Cry Primal has been out for a little over two weeks now and no one that has reviewed the title nor any of the people playing the game since then seemed to have caught on, I must say that Ubisoft’s team has done a stellar job making this recycled map feel fresh, though it isn’t the best thing to be revealed for the company.

In addition, official live programs from exhibitors will be supported free of charge during the event.* Tokyo Otaku Mode (Representative: Tomohide Kamei) will cooperate by producing original English-language programs for those outside of Japan.

* Some conditions exist for free distribution support such as having at least 40 booths

The Tokyo Game Show has grown into an international event where the latest news from Japan is transmitted throughout the world. A number of special lectures and memorials are planned for this 20th anniversary. More details will be announced later. You won’t be disappointed.

  • Star Fox Zero: Fox McCloud returns in an action-packed new adventure. Multiple paths branch out to give players plenty of places to explore, and each route gives them a completely different experience with unique challenges. Players will notice their skills get better and better over time, as they become top-notch pilots. In two-player mode, one player can fly the Arwing while the other player aims and shoots. The game launches on April 23, with a limited First Print edition including Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard on separate Game Discs, and an exclusive SteelBook® case. This package is the only way to get a physical copy of Star Fox Guard, so collectors won’t want to miss out.
  • Star Fox Guard: Players set up 12 cameras to find and defeat enemies who are attacking the mining site of Slippy Toad’s uncle, Grippy Toad. The game includes about 100 missions, but players can also create their own challenges by editing the placement of enemies and uploading them online. The game will be available in Australia and New Zealand from Nintendo eShop, from April 23.
  • Paper Mario: Color Splash: Paper Mario returns to a Nintendo console! Prism Island is being drained of its colour in this action-adventure. Paper Mario’s paint hammer splashes paint on anything it hits, so he uses it to bring the colour back to the island. The game will be released in 2016.
  • Super Mario Maker: Fans who want a real challenge will soon be able to try the 100 Mario Challenge’s new Super Expert difficulty, coming as part of a free software update on March 9. The mode is unlocked after players clear Expert mode, and dishes out six extremely tough courses. The update also adds 12 new Mystery Mushroom costumes to unlock in 100 Mario Challenge, and provides level creators with even more tools:

o    Shake a P Switch to turn it into a key, and shake a Door twice to turn it into a Key Door. Creators can make enemies hold keys – perfect for creating boss battles.

o    Shake a Coin to turn it into a Pink Coin: when players collect them all, a key appears.

o    Shake a Thwomp to turn it into a massive Spike Pillar from Super Mario World.

o    Additionally, the Super Mario Maker Bookmark site will be updated with ranking categories for world records and the number of first clears on courses.

Around every corner you’ll find fan-service – including Fire Emblem references – original songs by Japanese entertainment giant Avex, dungeons themed after the entertainment industry, and eye-catching music performances. The one-of-a-kind game launches on June 25.
  • Splatoon: The hit multiplayer game is getting more updates, starting on 9th March with an update that balances some gear abilities to improve some of the lesser-used ones and make them more appealing. Completing a quest grants players experience points to level-up and grow more powerful. The game is compatible with all amiibo figures, some of which give Kirby character-specific abilities. A new series of Kirby amiibo figures that includes Kirby, King Dedede, Meta Knight and Waddle Dee gives Kirby a copy ability specific to each character.
