Wargaming lends support to Ironfest

Wargaming lends support to Ironfest

April 4, 2016 — Wargaming has taken another step in supporting Australia’s military history by participating as one of the sponsors of the 2016 Ironfest event in Lithgow, New South Wales from 15th– 17th April.

The sponsorship allows the organisers to bring two additional armoured vehicles from Brisbane for its 20th Century re-enactment event, which includes a series of coordinated activities. These will culminate in a clash of armour and tanks going head to head in a battle and the re-enactment will be supported by blank firing weapons, smoke and explosive effects.

Wargaming’s involvement follows the video game company’s donation of one of Australia’s only mass produced tanks – the AC1 Sentinel – from Austin, Texas to its new home at the Australian Armour and Military Museum in Cairns. The museum has one of Australia’s largest private collection of military vehicles.

Jasper Nicholas, General Manager, Wargaming Asia, said it’s important for the company to be able to give back to the military community and help preserve Australia’s military history.

“At Wargaming, we’re passionate about history and military vehicles and believe it’s important to keep history alive for future generations.

“Ironfest is just one of a number of military-themed events Wargaming participate in globally and we’re excited to be able to support local events in Australia that help preserve military history.”

Ironfest is a historical and cultural event in Lithgow, which was first held in April 2000 to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the birth of steel in Australia. It has now grown to an annual event, which in 2015 attracted over 1,200 participants and 15,000 visitors. In the past 15 years, Ironfest has attracted over 140,000 visitors to Lithgow and contributed over $20 million into the local economy.

The Wargaming gathering event for Australia will also be incorporated into Ironfest and 50 lucky Wargaming community members will be eligible to participate in the military re-enactments. To be part of the action, visit: http://bit.ly/1RB4Zj4

Ironfest will take place on Saturday, 16 and Sunday, 17 April at the Lithgow Showground. For tickets and more information, visit: www.ironfest.net.

The ARK Dinosaur Zoo Just Grew Bigger By Three and Official Extinction Event Servers Now Open

Studio Wildcard, the studio that never sleeps, has drastically changed the direction of ARK: Survival Evolved today, fully realizing its vision of creating the most realistic survival simulator ever where Dinos Ride Humans. Starting today, April 1, get in the game to saddle up to ride your favorite person!

In other evolutionary news, the studio added three new deadly creatures to its Jurassic zoo in ARK: Survival Evolved on Steam, while challenging players’ mettle by launching official Extinction Event Servers.

By introducing the unpredictable furry Woolly Rhino, the armored, deep-water Dunkleosteus, and the chitin-rich Eurypterid, Studio Wildcard has introduced advanced ways to attack and defend, bulk up on armor, and to travel the deep seas with greater defenses than ever before. The Extinction Event official servers launching today will reset after each month, with an in-game countdown and dramatic meteor impact to signal the end! These time-limited servers are a great way for new players to start on a level playing field and a challenging gameplay choice for those who want to see how far they can progress before the end of days! Participants will earn badges to mark their accomplishment.

Coelodonta utiliserro: Known as the Woolly Rhino, the Coelodonta is usually a large, friendly herbivore but can turn into a dangerous creature when charging its attackers. The Coelodonta builds up momentum as it charges, and depending on its ultimate impact speed, players can skewer the largest creatures in just one single gore! When not being hunted for their horns (ground into arousing powder) or fur (excellent insulating outfits), Coelodonta makes an excellent beast of burden. Its ability to take on far larger opponents (provided sufficient charging room), as well as its sizable load capacity, make it a solid addition to any trader party or gathering expedition.

Dunkleosteus loricaruptor: Known simply as Dunkleosteus, this fairly large fish is covered head to tail in armored plates and has incredibly powerful jaws that make great work of stone and oil formations in the ocean’s depths. It’s an excellent battle fish that is heavy with armor and a terrifying bite that tears through chitinous shells. While harvesting, Dunkleosteus can handily defend its rider from all but the largest threats in the waters. And once past its prime, Dunkleosteus can be harvested for a fair amount of Chitin.

Jaekelopterus eurypterus: Found only in the deepest watery depths on the ARK, Eurypterids are dangerous, adaptable Arthropods that, while not smart enough to be tamed, are rich in chitin and provide a debilitating poison that quickly renders its opponent unable to defend itself. Upon death, Eurypterid provides digestive tracts often containing Silica Pearls, or even have incredibly rare Black Pearls used for manufacturing mysterious technologies. This latter information makes them among the most valuable creatures on the island.

ARK: Survival Evolved will launch in 2016 on Xbox One via the ID@Xbox program, PlayStation®4 with Project Morpheus support, and full release on Steam PC. The game is currently playable in Microsoft’s Game Preview on Xbox One and Steam’s Early Access program, which includes Oculus Rift VR support and an integration of Steam community features such as Steam Economy and Steam Workshop for custom maps and mods. Players can host private/LAN servers and have access to a custom-built version of the Unreal Engine 4 Editor for creating mods. The world of ARK is designed to be modder-friendly and ever-expanding!

Smartphone Game Miitomo and My Nintendo Rewards Launch

miitomo-banner-01

Nintendo‘s first Smartphone game Miitomo is available to download now on the App Store for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and through Google Play on most Android devices. Users create a Mii through the app or can import their original Mii from any Wii U or 3DS with a QR code.

Miitomo is a casual game that lets Mii’s communicate with each other by the user answering questions and sharing their responses with other Mii’s, with part of the fun said to be discovering new facts about your friends. According to Nintendo’s Facebook page the game has already received 3 million downloads which is quite impressive.

Also up and running is the My Nintendo Rewards system. Miitomo users who link the app to their account will be able to take advantage of My Nintendo to enhance their experience. The My Nintendo Rewards system has two distinct currencies, Platinum Points and Gold Points. To my knowledge, the Miitomo Points are also Platinum Points, with the only distinction being they were earned through Miitomo.

Platinum Points can be earned by completing missions which typically involve interacting with Nintendo apps and services, including Miitomo. Basically doing stuff like linking accounts and actually playing the games will give Platinum Points. These are mostly used for downloading digital items like themes and in game items (for Miitomo for example). At the moment there is also one exclusive game that can only be purchased with Platinum Points through My Nintendo, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Picross. They also give smaller discounts (in comparison to Gold Points) on a few select games.

A few example missions include:

  1. Link your Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo Account – 100 Platinum Points
  2. Sign-in to Nintendo eShop (weekly) – 30 Platinum Points
  3. Sing-in to Miiverse (weekly) – 30 Platinum Points
  4. Link Facebook Account to Nintendo Account – 10 Platinum Points
  5. Link Twitter Account to Nintendo Account – 10 Platinum Points
  6. Link Google+ Account to Nintendo Account – 10 Platinum Points
  7. Link Miitomo to a Nintendo Account – 100 Miitomo Points
  8. Add a friend using the face-to-face method – 100 Miitomo Points
  9. Change your Mii’s clothes (daily) – 5 Miitomo Points

Gold Points are simply earned by spending money on Nintendo Products however this so far looks like it only applies to digital goods purchased on the eShop on Wii U or 3DS. Gold Points give free games or substantial discounts on the eShop. Below is a list of how many Gold Points you can earn for each purchase (prices in AUD).

  1. Downloadable game purchase $6 – $13 – 10 Gold Points
  2. Downloadable game purchase $13.01 -$25 – 20 Gold Points
  3. Downloadable game purchase $25.01-$37.99 – 30 Gold Points
  4. Downloadable game purchase $38-$51 – 40 Gold Points
  5. Downloadable game purchase $51.01-$63 – 50 Gold Points
  6. Downloadable game purchase $63.01-$76 – 60 Gold Points

Users who sign up for a Nintendo Account before the end of April will also be able to download Flipnote Studio 3D to their Nintendo 3DS system for free. To claim the download, users must link their new Nintendo Account to the Nintendo Network ID they use on their Nintendo 3DS family system, then visit the My Nintendo website between March 31 and April 30 to get  a download code that you can use on the eShop.

Nintendo also released a slightly strange trailer for Miitomo that you can watch below. To register for My Nintendo follow this link.

English Introduction Trailer Released for Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir’s Cornelius

Odin-Sphere-Leifthrasir-screenshot-(54)

Today Atlus USA has released the second of their English series of character introduction videos for Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir and this one happens to introduce the noble prince of the Human Kingdom of Titania, Cornelius, who has been afflicted with a curse that has transformed him into a Pooka.

Atlus USA has provided the below outline regarding Cornelius’ character background and abilities:

Cornelius is the son of Titania King Edmund and was once a dashing human prince. Ever the romantic, he wants nothing more than to be with his one true love — the forest witch Velvet. Unfortunately, a mysterious curse befalls upon the young Prince Charming and he gets transformed into a Pooka. However, don’t be fooled by his soft fuzzy ears and adorable button nose, this cute little furball’s sword skill can aptly be described as “masterfully dexterous.”

Cornelius wields the powerful Psypher Sword (which he obtains early in his story) and is able to combine his years of royal swordsmanship training with his agile Pooka body to devastating effect. He’ll slice and dice his enemies with dazzling speed, and his new skills in Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir make him a veritable whirlwind of destruction. Cornelius can deftly leap off walls and drill into enemies with Reverse Claw, or spin round and round to deal punishing AOE damage with his Whirling Blade attack. Oh, but since Cornelius is basically as fast as lightning it only makes sense that some of his attacks are “electric” (literally).

With Lightning Saber, the Pooka Prince becomes an unstoppable bolt of electricity that zips around the map damages everything he touches. Unbelievably, that’s not even his best skill! Cornelius’ ultimate — the awesome, but hard-to-pronounce Caladbolg — supercharges his sword so he can perform combinations of strikes that ends with a devastating blow. Therefore if you have the need to be fast and furious then Cornelius is your man… I mean Pooka.

As for the game itself, Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir will be released on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in North America on June 7th and in Europe sometime in June.

Etrian Odyssey V: The End of the Long Myth Character Customization Video Released

etrian-odyssey-v-screenshot-006

Atlus has released a rather simple trailer for Etrian Odyssey V: The End of the Long Myth that focuses on their character creation system which has been expanded a bit and allows for some small customization of your character sprites.

As you’ll see in the video below, players will be able to choose their favorite class from ten available options, then choose which illustration they want to base their character on, and then adjust their hair and eye color using basic colors that can be modified with sliders, adjust the character’s skin color, and then of course select their voice from a pool of forty different actors.

Currently Etrian Odyssey V: The End of the Long Myth is set to be released in Japan on August 4th for the Nintendo 3DS.

New Teaser Video Released for Utawarerumono: The Two Hakuoros

Utawarerumono-the-two-hakuoros-screenshot-001

Aquaplus is continuing with their drip-feed style of footage for Utawarerumono: The Two Hakuoros. Today the company released a new commercial for the upcoming game and similar to the last set of videos, this one doesn’t really show too much. It does go a step above the previous ones in one way as it at least contains a bit of anime cutscene footage, albeit the only real thing shown is Nekone appearing incredibly sad.

Currently Utawarerumono: The Two Hakuoros is set to be released for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in Japan on September 21st so we will likely be seeing this type of mini-promo material for at least a few more weeks before the company decides to release something substantial.

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered English Story Trailer Released

Valkyria-Chronicles-Remastered-screenshot- (2)

Those who have never played Valkyria Chronicles, despite the title being available for eight years on the PlayStation 3 and a couple of years for the PC, are likely a bit unsure about what to expect from Valkyria Chronicles Remastered‘s storyline.

As such Sega has released an English version of the game’s story trailer in order to show off a little of what potential players can expect when the title is released on the PlayStation 4 on May 17th. As you can see in the video below, the East European Imperial Army invading Gallia, players will follow the story of Welkin Gunther, the son of a military hero, and Alicia Melchiott, the captain of the town of Bruhl’s town watch, as they join the Gallian Militia in order to defend their homes.

Black Rose Valkyrie’s Basic Combos Highlighted in Latest Video

Black-Rose-Valkyrie-screenshot-015

Compile Heart has released their first digest video, in what will likely be a series of gameplay videos, for Black Rose Valkyrie. Although rather short, as it contains less than a full minute of footage, the focus of this video is on showing off the basic combo attacks that players will use when they are in battle as well as a few snippets of footage showing characters exploring various dungeons.

You can check out the video below and as for the game itself, Black Rose Valkyrie is set to be released on June 30th in Japan as a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

Although the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series has been continuing in Japan for the past decade, it has been nine years since one of these titles managed to secure an English release. Thankfully those who enjoyed the simulation strategy RPG will soon have the chance to play the latest iteration, Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII, in English as Koei Tecmo has announced that they plan on bringing the game to PlayStation 4 and PC through Steam. The Xbox One and PlayStation 3 versions of the game have currently not been announced for release in the West.

The game will be released on July 5th in North America and July 8th in Europe to celebrate the series’ 30th anniversary. To go along with this announcement the company has released a trailer as well as a set of screenshots and artwork from the game and you can check that all out below.
