“We are delighted to launch Crossout on Steam through Early Access and continue to build our vocal and collaborative community before Open Beta starts”, said Stanislav Skorb , CEO of Targem Games. “Closed Beta players help us shape the direction of development to build the experience that the community demands.”

With Steam Early Access launch, Crossout contains all the latest content updates including new PvE Missions and additional maps:

Convoy Escort

Scavengers are willing to fork out a tidy sum to any mercenary who ensures safe passage of an armored truck. Players need to follow the truck and defend it from other scavengers and help it cross the map successfully. The map was created especially for this mission with a long route that has almost no turns. Enemies will be attacking the convoy along the way. In the middle of the map there is a radar station, which is a perfect place for an ambush. The main clashes will be waiting for players there. Reward for this mission depends on the distance players can pass.

Heist
In this mission, players will try to grab some goodies from a settlement based in Terminal-45 and take it to the evacuation spot. Here players will face not only the enemies which can appear from everywhere, but turrets as well, as they attack a well defended settlement. The map is like a giant labyrinth, with rubbish dumps, garages, living spaces and transport routes all scattered around the territory of the former port terminal. The heist attempt also has a time limit so failing to complete it before the timer ends means losing the round.

Map Control 17

Bringing the total number of maps to 10, Map Control 17 is the latest addition to the game. An open and spacious map, it offers a lot of fun for long range weapons lovers and high speed drivers. Since there is no place to hide for a substantial amount of time, the only way to survive is to be the first to attack the enemy. Be quick, be unpredictable, be desperate – this map indulges brave scavengers. Sneak around destroyed radar dishes, hunt for lonely drivers, and watch your back. Someone can be hunting you at the same moment!

United Front Games Announces Smash + Grab

smash-+-grab-promo-shot-01

United Front Games, the Vancouver, Canada based developers of Sleeping Dogs, revealed their new project today. Smash + Grab is a 3v3 PVP action game designed for intense 15 minute matches. The game will be a third-person title with a focus on brutal melee gameplay and some gunplay thrown in for good measure. To win, a team must capture $50,000 worth of goods from the maps set in high-end shopping centres.

Players can opt to steal goods from the stores themselves or rob their enemy blind to slow them down. Each player selects a lieutenant with their own unique skillset followed by a class for the 5 AI controlled NPCs that will provide support for the player. Between the option of looting goods from the environment and 15 AI controlled enemies, Smash + Grab looks like it will be a very accessible game for all skill levels.

“Smash + Grab combines our love of competitive online games with our expertise in action mechanics and hand-to-hand combat, sharpened during our development of Sleeping Dogs. The playtesting rivalries got pretty intense in the studio during development, and we hope to see the same reaction on a bigger scale with Smash + Grab’s Early Access launch,” said Stephen Van Der Mescht, CEO of United Front Games.

Smash + Grab is set to launch on Steam Early Access with two multiplayer modes and maps in September 2016.

Release Date Revealed for Innovative Sci-Fi Narrative Exploration Game, Event[0], Confirmed by…Kaizen

Release Date Revealed for Innovative Sci-Fi Narrative Exploration Game, Event[0], Confirmed by…Kaizen

What Would You Say to a Computer if Your Life Depended on it?…is the Question that Highly-Anticipated, Indie Fund Backed Project Will Ask Players on September 14

PARIS – August 23, 2016 – Incoming message from AI entity Kaizen-85…Event[0], the award-winning sci-fi narrative exploration game in which players must build a relationship with a lonely spaceship computer to get home, is coming to Windows PC and Mac via Steam and the Humble Store by Humble Bundle on September 14, 2016.  New screenshots released alongside today’s announcement show off more of what players can look forward to in developer Ocelot Society’s story-driven spacefaring adventure.

Set in a retrofuture inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey, Solaris and Brave New World, Event[0] is a game about building a personal relationship with a machine using natural language. As a player, your only companion is an insecure and unstable AI entity named, Kaizen, with whom you interact by typing messages on computer terminals throughout a desolated spacecraft. The game’s multi-layered story emerges organically as players communicate with Kaizen, freely explore 3D environments, gather information and solve hacking puzzles. Each player will enjoy a unique gameplay experience based on the way they choose to communicate with Kaizen, who can procedurally generate over two million lines of dialog and demonstrates a variety of different personalities, and responses, influenced by human input.

As in any relationship, there can be gratitude, disappointment or jealousy, and Kaizen reacts differently depending on its mood and the situation at hand. The ship, Nautilus, is essentially the AI computer’s body, and reacts to Kaizen’s mood by making different sounds, which can give the player subtle yet valuable clues. By working through the fears and anxieties of a virtual companion players can ultimately find the way back to Earth—while unraveling the cryptic history of the ship and the 1980s society from which it emerged.

Event[0] is created using Unity Engine 5 and utilizes physics-based rendering and advanced lighting techniques to create richly detailed environments inside and outside the ship (players can leave the ship for breathtakingly scary spacewalks). Eschewing a traditional game score, all sound, including incidental music, comes from items in the environment.

Event[0] began as a six-month student project before evolving into a full title under the auspices of Ocelot Society, which was founded by key members of the team. The indie game first drew attention as a concept demo that won multiple indie gaming awards, including Innovation at BIG 2015 and Student Award winner at EIGD 2014. Event[0] is now backed by France’s CNC public arts organization and by the Indie Fund, a funding source for independent developers launched as an alternative to traditional publisher models.

Philip II leads Spain in Civilization VI

Philip II leads Spain in Civilization VI

2K and Firaxis Games today revealed that Philip II will lead Spain in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, launching on Oct 21st for Windows PC.

For 48 years, Philip II was king of the massive Spanish Empire, and the most powerful ruler in Europe during the 16th century. He championed the Catholic faith, utilizing the Spanish Inquisition and leading several religious conflicts.

In staunch defense of Catholicism, Philip organized a “Holy League” against the Ottoman Empire, halting their dominance across the Mediterranean at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571. He later opposed Protestantism in England, and attempted to invade the country several times using his fleet of ships, the world-famous Spanish Armada.

Philip directly intervened during the French Wars of Religion between 1585 & 1595, financing the Catholic League and ultimately causing Catholicism to be the foremost religion in France.

Phillip II’s reign ushered in a golden era for Spain. Despite constant religious warfare, Spain’s culture flourished. Music, art, and literature boomed under Philip, culminating with the creation of the majestic El Escorial monastery and palace in 1595.

The Pokémon Company International awarded more than $600,000 in prizes to top finishers at the 2016 World Championships and has granted over $3 million in scholarships since it began hosting tournaments more than a decade ago.

“Each year, the Pokémon World Championships bring the global Pokémon community together to compete, celebrate, and enjoy the games that have delighted fans for two decades,” said J.C. Smith, senior director of consumer marketing at The Pokémon Company International. “Congratulations to our new Pokémon World Champions, and a special thank-you to the community of players, family members, volunteers, and fans who make the Pokémon World Championships the premier Pokémon event of the year.”

More than 2,000 players, fans, and supporters attended the event at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis Hotel, while more than 1.5 million Pokémon fans watched the action from home via Pokemon.com and Twitch.tv/Pokemon.
