Koei Tecmo has released some new details regarding a certain new feature that will play a role in Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book. Unlike past games, this title will feature different weather types as well as a visible passage of time. This means that while you may head out while it is sunny, it could be dark and storming when you are coming back.

With certain ingredients and monsters only appearing during certain weather conditions and times of day, players will need to plan accordingly. This title also features a Life Point system that is based off fatigue, meaning that if you spend too much time out fighting enemies, gathering items, or traveling without returning home your characters will grow progressively weaker until they rest up.

The company also revealed that there will be a number of pre-order bonuses depending on where you decide to pick the title up from, those who get the game digitally during the first month will be given two Atelier Sophie themes and an in-game bundle of item boosters, Best Buy will offer an in-game background music pack and the aforementioned themes, while Amazon and GameStop will provide all of the aforementioned content as well as a special Aqua Suit costume for Doll Making.

Goetia – haunting point-and-click adventure – out now

First game to be published by Collective is out now on Steam

LONDON, April 15: Square Enix Collective™ is delighted to announce that Goetia™ – the first game to be published by the initiative – is now available for purchase on PC via Steam and the Square Enix Store.

Goetia is a deep and engrossing point-and-click adventure set in England in the 1940s, based around the mysterious Blackwood Manor. You play as Abigail Blackwood, raised from the dead with no explanation, and as a ghost you must set about finding out what has happened in the years since your death.
Why are you here? Where is your family? And, most importantly, what exactly have they done…?

The manor and surrounding countryside is yours to explore as you find clues and solve the puzzles – with dozens of rooms to explore and some unexpected…and unnerving discoveries along the way.

The release of Goetia marks the final stages of a long partnership between Sushee™ and Square Enix Collective. The game first appeared on the Collective Feedback platform in July 2014 and was well received by the community.

Collective then offered support for the subsequent Kickstarter™ campaign (which aimed to raise funds for the game’s completion), and once successfully concluded, also offered support for the final release – which was accepted.

“It’s been a fantastic experience getting to know the Sushee team over the past 18 months,” said Phil Elliott, creator and project lead for Square Enix Collective. “We love the depth and atmosphere of Goetia, and we’re really proud that the game is the first in a range of releases to come via Collective this year.”

“Square Enix Collective has been a great partner and friend to Sushee since we submitted the Goetia pitch to them all those months ago,” added Sushee’s Benjamin Anseaume. “We’re really excited to be launching the game and can’t wait for people to experience Abigail’s story, and solve the dark mystery of the Blackwoods.”

The game is available now via Steam priced at £9.99 / $14.99 / €14.99. It’s also available direct from the Square Enix Store, Green Man Gaming and the Humble Store.

Goetia was one of five games to be featured in the Square Enix Collective line-up at this year’s EGZ Rezzed in London, alongside forthcoming releases The Turing Test™, Black The Fall™, Tokyo Dark™, and Oh My Godheads™.

PILOT A ROBOBOT ARMOUR AND SAVE PLANET POPSTAR FROM A ROBOTIC ARMY IN KIRBY: PLANET ROBOBOT, COMING TO NINTENDO 3DS ON JUNE 11

PILOT A ROBOBOT ARMOUR AND SAVE PLANET POPSTAR FROM A ROBOTIC ARMY IN KIRBY: PLANET ROBOBOT, COMING TO NINTENDO 3DS ON JUNE 11

Kirby: Planet Robobot – amiibo Bundle to come with a new Kirby Collection amiibo

15th April 2016 – Planet Popstar is being invaded by the Haltmann Works Company and its robotic army, and only Kirby can put a stop to their machinations in Kirby: Planet Robobot, releasing exclusively for Nintendo 3DS family systems in Australia and New Zealand on June 11. Enemies better beware, as not only has Kirby got a range of both new and returning Copy Abilities, but the Robobot Armour that Kirby can pilot can make use of Scan Specs too!

In Kirby’s latest platforming adventure, Kirby can now explore Planet Popstar in brand new ways, as he can move scenery, access new areas, and uncover secrets by using the Robobot Armour’s handy Wrench. That’s not all it can do either, as by scanning enemies, it can unleash more powerful versions of some of Kirby’s well-known Copy Abilities, some of which change the platforming action in brand new ways. By analysing an enemy with the “Jet” Scan Spec, Kirby’s Robobot Armour will engage Jet Mode, causing it to fly across the screen in shoot-‘em-up style, while the “Wheel” Scan Spec activates Wheel Mode, turning Kirby’s Robobot Armour into a car that races between the foreground and background.

Kirby himself also has a few new Copy Abilities which bear more than a passing resemblance to his competitors in the Super Smash Bros. series. Swallowing certain enemies will allow Kirby to unleash the power of his mind with the “ESP” ability, or throw pills and attack with a clipboard as “Doctor” Kirby. By scanning in the Kirby amiibo from the Super Smash Bros. Collection* our pink hero can also become “Smash Bros.” Kirby for the first time since Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. With this newly updated Copy Ability, Kirby can unleash the powers that make him such a formidable fighter, like the Hammer Swing, Final Cutter, and the Stone attack, as well as the ability to shield from enemy attacks..

Other Copy Abilities can also be awarded via any currently available amiibo, often bestowing Kirby with an ability based on the character that was tapped. Become “Fire” Kirby with any Mario amiibo, let loose with the Parasol by scanning Princess Peach, send Sparks flying with Robin, or show off your swordplay with one of the other Fire Emblem character amiibo.

Releasing alongside Kirby: Planet Robobot will be the Kirby Collection amiibo, consisting of Kirby, King Dedede, Waddle Dee and the mysterious Meta Knight. Tapping the latter three amiibo will grant Kirby a unique ability and a change of costume based on the character scanned, while the new Kirby amiibo will give our hero the UFO ability, allowing him to float in the air indefinitely and unleash powerful Heat Beams on unsuspecting foes. Fans eager to get their hands on this ability can also choose the Kirby: Planet Robobot amiibo Bundle, which includes a copy of the game and a Kirby Collection amiibo of Kirby.

The Kirby Collection amiibo will also give Kirby a collectible sticker that can be used to customise the Robobot Armour. Additional stickers can be found by exploring each stage, or received via StreetPass from other players with a copy of the game By searching each level, Kirby can also find hidden Code Cubes, which will unlock additional stages after a certain amount are collected in each area.

But there is more! One new mode is Kirby 3D Rumble, a single-player isometric action-puzzler which tasks our hero with sucking up objects or enemies and eliminating all foes in as few moves as possible. By sucking up multiple enemies at once, Kirby can then unleash a powerful Star Bullet that will plough through any remaining foes caught in its blast and maximise his score.

Another new mode comes in the form of Team Kirby Clash, an action game with RPG elements which allows players to play with CPU-controlled team-mates, or join up with up to three other players via local multiplayer or Download Play** to take down a more powerful enemy as soon as possible. Kirby can choose between four classes based off of traditional RPGs, like the Sword Hero, Hammer Lord, Doctor Healmore, and the Beam Mage. After each battle, each Kirby will gain experience and has the potential to level up, improving stats that will aid in subsequent battles. During battles, enemies also have the chance to drop four pieces of a magical tablet, which when gathered together will allow players to unleash special co-operative attacks.

It’s the rise of the Robobots when Kirby: Planet Robobot unleashes robotic fury on Nintendo 3DS family systems as it launches in Australia and New Zealand on June 11. The game will also launch as an amiibo Bundle on the same date alongside the Kirby Collection amiibo.

Sentai Filmworks Licenses ‘Flying Witch’ and the Second ‘Hakuoki’ Film

Sentai Filmworks announced two new licenses this week.

The first acquisition is the new anime series Flying Witch. It has just begun broadcast in Japan on Nippon TV. It is based on Chihiro Ishizuka’s manga series, which is serialised in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine. The series “follows the adventures of 15-year-old Makoto Kowata, a teen witch whose only talent (currently) is being able to fly. In this supernatural coming-of-age tale, Makoto and her familiar, a black cat named Chito, move in with her second cousins in the beautiful and quaint Aomori Prefecture of northern Japan, where she learns to hone her magical skills”. Animation production is being handled by J.C. Staff. The adaptation is being directed by Katsushi Sakurabi, with series composition being handled by Deko Akao.

The second acquisition is Hakuoki ~ Demon of the Fleeting Blossom: Warrior Spirit of the Blue Sky. This is the second film based on the popular series. It “continues the story of Chizuru Yukimura’s search for her father. The famed Shinsengumi are combating the dangerous beings within Kyoto’s shadows, and it won’t be easy. As Chizuru and the men of the Shinsengumi fight for their city, and for their lives, the battle may draw closer than any of them ever imagined”. It was directed and scripted by Osamu Yamasaki. Atsuko Nakajima handled the animation direction and character design and Yone Kazuki provided the original character designs.

Both titles will eventually be released on home video.
