NES Classic Mini Announced by Nintendo

With the Nintendo NX still a big mystery, Nintendo have turned to the past for their next console. Officially titled the Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System, this micro system will arrive in most places across the globe on November 11th at a retail price of $59.95 in the US and $99.95 in Australia.

The system that can fit in the palm of your hand will come with 30 of the NES library’s best games pre-installed. Unfortunately it will not accept cartridges or be able to acquire new games but NES promises the games chosen were to ensure longevity and quality. The 30 games are:

The mini console will also include one classic NES Mini controller, with additional controllers being available to purchase for $19.95 AU ($9.99 US). This new control has the same connections as the Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro from the Wii era, so all three controls are interchangeable. However, it should be noted that when using two controllers one must be the new NES Mini controller.

That’s not all the benefits though, the NES Mini will connect to TV’s using an included HDMI cable for a clearer picture and ease of connection. Probably the best feature though is that each title will allow for multiple suspend points, so you can pick up your game right where you left it without having to worry about saves or passwords. Factor in how small this unit is for portability and you have a very affordable and impressive piece of tech that offers a highlight of gaming history.

Strangely the console is powered by a USB cable and a USB power supply will not come in the box with European versions (and most likely Australian) of the console.

If the NES Mini does well enough (which I imagine it very well will given its affordable pricing and Christmas release period) I would say you can almost definitely expect a SNES Mini and even a N64 Mini to be announced in the near future. Sign me up for those.

In Shadows of Kurgansk players must survive for as long as possible, travelling deep into the “Zone”, which a mysterious and apocalyptic environment full of flesh eating creatures and unpredictable anomalies that could drive your character insane. Players will have to solely rely on their own skills and fortitude to hunt and gather food and supplies, establish contact with other survivors, and build structures for storage and shelter.

Survival necessitates the careful search for materials, through a nightmarish landscape filled with abandoned research facilities and secret military bases. Shadows of Kurgansk offers three gameplay modes, from casual to hardcore survival which will test gamers’ limits. Story mode provides more than 10 hours of gameplay wrapped inside of a detailed plot. Adventure mode allows players to complete challenging requests, while Survival modes test player skill and patience.

Over 1,100 Players from Around the World Gathered to Celebrate Warframe in London, Ontario, Raising Over $74,000 for Outward Bound Canada

LONDON, ON (July 14, 2016) — On Saturday, July 9, 2016, over 1,100 Warframe players and fans from around the world gathered at the London Convention Centre for TennoCon 2016, the first ever convention devoted exclusively to Warframe®, the Free-to-Play hit from independent developer and publisher Digital Extremes. This first-of-its-kind event for the company offered Warframe players, better known as Tenno, a day full of fun activities, panels, tournaments, and the opportunity for the title’s dedicated community to meet each other and connect with developers.
Earlier this year, Digital Extremes pledged to donate 100% of ticket sale proceeds for TennoCon 2016 to official charitable partner, Outward Bound Canada, supporting its programs for at-risk youth, women survivors of violence, and military veterans transitioning to civilian life. Today, Digital Extremes is proud to announce that together, TennoCon 2016 attendees raised over $74,000 CAD in ticket sales for this sold out event for Outward Bound Canada.

TennoCon 2016 concluded with a special edition of the Warframe team’s TennoLive show, streamed live on twitch.tv, where players were treated to exclusive first-looks and teases for new and exciting content coming to the world of Warframe this year.

The War Within Teaser: The War Within will be the final installment of Warframe’s latest three-part update, starting with the release of the new competitive sport mode, Lunaro, in June and followed by the Specters of the Rail last week. Titania Warframe Debut: Warframe Design Director Scott McGregor shared plans for designs and abilities for Titania, an all-new Warframe-in-development. Most exciting was plans for Titania’s ultimate ability, which will shrink the Warframe down to 1/10th of its normal size, allowing players to navigate levels in Archwing mode while attacking enemies with swarms of Titania’s vicious butterfly minions. Please note that all names and ability descriptions are not final at this point.

100 Days of Warframe Teaser: Working in partnership with Paul Otaking77077 and the good folks at mashed, 100 Days of Warframe will be an action-packed animated video short that pays homage to Warframe and its awesome community with a humorous storyline based on the first 100 days after a Tenno awakens. Thursday, 14th July, 2016 – 2pm UK – Cambridge, UK Jagex, the Cambridge-headquartered creator of iconic Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) RuneScape, today confirmed that the Company has been acquired by Chinese investors with immediate effect and a new Board of Directors has been constituted.

The acquisition of Jagex is the first move in creating a dedicated, highly focused Chinese-owned games company within a newly created structure of a highly respected and well established local organisation, which is committing significant resources to the new entity.

The move will see Jagex propelled into a new investment cycle to charge forward with growth projects for RuneScape and its franchise extensions, while seeking out additional Mergers and Acquisitions opportunities to ramp up its presence in the gaming space.

“Having visibility in China, which is now the biggest gaming market in the world, the new entity is a compelling and attractive proposition for western businesses seeking to broaden their reach in a fast-rising, rapid growth region. It will enable them to tap into a creative and development talent pool to design and develop content for the Chinese consumer and engage with, and expand, a global community.

“Jagex will continue to be operated by the existing management team, which has overseen an impressive trading performance in recent times and driven its iconic franchise, RuneScape to continued growth. It will be business as usual for the Company, its players and its employees post-acquisition.”

The deal was completed by Lisa Pan and Thomas Song on behalf of the incoming shareholders and they will be appointed to the board of Jagex. Jagex was advised by investment banking firm, Code Advisors and the legal team at Willkie, Farr & Gallagher.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, Jagex’s flagship online adventure game,RuneScape, is a major success story in gaming. RuneScape has welcomed over 245 million players to its world and its monthly players number in the multi-millions. This year,RuneScape has introduced NXT, an all-new visual engine and game client, and will unveil an entirely new continent in the game world later this summer. RuneScape is also watched by audiences of millions on social channels and is one of the top ten most-watched games on Twitch†.

RuneScape’s retro incarnation, Old School RuneScape, is also experiencing accelerated user growth through its impact in the eSports sector. The game’s Deadman Tournament, held and streamed during Insomnia 57 (i57) marked the first time an MMORPG has successfully delivered a high-profile eSport audience and drew the second highest audience on Twitch at the time.
