Forza Horizon 3 Garage – Week 1 Car Reveal

Forza Horizon 3 Garage – Week 1 Car Reveal

Welcome to the first edition of the Forza Garage for Forza Horizon 3! Over the next several weeks, we’ll be rolling out all of the cars, trucks, buggies and other special vehicles that will be appearing in the game. Forza Horizon 3 features more than 350 vehicles – that’s 150 more than Forza Horizon 2. Not only is this the largest number of cars ever featured in a Forza Horizon game, it’s also our most diverse line-up yet!

Today’s announcement features state-of-the-art supercars like the Lamborghini Centenario and the Ferrari La Ferrari, Forza community favourites like the 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II and the 2013 Subaru BRZ, and off-roading specialists like the 2016 Ariel Nomad and the 2015 Baldwin Motorsports #97 Monster Energy Trophy Truck. Those last two off-roaders are making their debuts in Forza Horizon 3, alongside highly anticipated models like the 2015 Ford Falcon XR8 and the 2015 Polaris RZR XP 1000 EPS, and more.

In other words, we’ve got a lot of great cars, trucks, and buggies to get through today, so let’s get started!

  • 2016 Ariel Nomad

When Ariel founder Simon Saunders brought the world the skeletal, Ariel Atom most asked, “What is it?” Upon discovering the Nomad’s track-destroying abilities and epic fun driving characteristics, now most just asked, “Can I have a ride?” The same goes for the Atom’s off-road cousin, the Ariel Nomad. Its steel tube chassis provides protection from everything but the elements. While its suspension is not quite that of a Baja-buggy, it’s plenty adept for everything off-road while still able to hang it out on a curvy road or track. Pushing the rear-end out of shape at the whim of your right foot is a Honda 2.4-liter engine delivering more than enough power for a good time. With the Nomad, you can make friends no matter where you go, and go anywhere they go.

  • 2015 Ford Falcon XR8

The XR8 represents the top of the Ford Falcon line. Under the hood is the grunty power of the Boss supercharged 5.0-liter V8. No matter where you are in the power band, the XR8 is ready to pull away with a gesture from your right foot. Outside, the smooth lines of this four-door sedan are reminiscent of the V8 Supercars that are built from its mould. Sure, this is a production vehicle meant for the city streets and country highways, but you will find performance ready to thrill you at every corner.

  • 2015 Baldwin Motorsports #97 Monster Energy Trophy Truck

B.J. Baldwin is one of the winningest off-road drivers in the history of this gruelling sport. He was the first to solo the monumentally challenging Baja 1000, and won the race to boot. Baldwin’s skill behind the wheel is backed up by his physical ability to take all the desert can dish out. The #97 Monster Energy Trophy Truck is the perfect complement to its legendary pilot; sucking up bumps and whoop-dee-doos, or landing the biggest jumps you can find in Forza Horizon 3’s Australian outback. There’s more horsepower here than any average driver will ever need and more suspension travel than nearly any vehicle on the planet. With the right driver behind the wheel, this truck can lay waste to anything else in the Outback. Think you can fill B.J. Baldwin’s race seat? Strap in and let’s find out.

  • 2014 Ford FPV Limited Edition Pursuit Ute

When it comes to Utes the FPV Pursuit is the cream of the crop. With only 120 models produced, these are collectors’ items the moment they leave the showroom floor. Unless you’re from Australia the concept of a Ute may seem strange, but all that will fade as soon as you sit in the driver’s seat and fire up that supercharged V8 with its high-flow dual exhaust. Sure, you can still haul the hay for the horses, but getting from the farm to town and back has never been so fun.

  • 2015 Polaris RZR XP 1000 EPS

The first side-by-side buggy playable in a Forza Horizon game is here and it is nothing less than a beast. The RZR XP 1000 EPS (Electronic Power Steering) is just about the most fun you can in a side-by-side. You will find upwards of 100 hp, a long-travel suspension and a full safety cage in what amounts to a mini-buggy. A single-speed gearbox means you just punch it and hang on. Let the off-road tires find traction and let the shocks suck up the bumps; you just hang on and watch the water spray and dust fly. When it comes to navigating tight trails and narrow gaps, the RZR will give you an advantage over other vehicles and when it comes to outright thrills, it is hard to beat, period.

  • 2016 Lamborghini Centenario LP 770-4

Ferruccio Lamborghini was a Taurus, hence the influence of the symbol of the raging bull on the many cars of his prestigious brand he began in 1963 to compete with rival Ferrari. Lamborghini was born in 1916, and the new Centenario was built to celebrate his 100th birthday. Built on the Aventador Super Veloce chassis, complete with a powertrain giving it an advantage in lightness and a formidable 740 hp. With further tuning, the Centenario gleans nearly 20 more ponies from the V12 and loses 11 pounds, while gaining significant downforce and cooling from its body design. Every exterior detail was designed with function in mind to manage drag and improve downforce. Making history of its own, the Centenario is the first Lamborghini to employ rear-wheel steering. With only 20 models in the works and a price tag of $1.9 million each, Forza Horizon 3 will likely be the only place most of us will get a chance to experience it.

In addition to the highlighted cars above, here’s the full list of cars (and images) we are announcing during the first week of the Forza Garage series for Forza Horizon 3. Stay tuned to Xbox Wire and ForzaMotorsport.net for more garage additions in the coming weeks, including more Aussie cars to be revealed soon.

Street Fighter V: A Shadow Falls Review

Street Fighter V: A Shadow Falls

Developer: Capcom, Dimps
Publisher: Capcom
Platform: PC, PlayStation 4 (Reviewed)
Release Date: July 1, 2016
Price: Free update

Overview

Up until around ten years ago no one really expected much from a fighting game when it came to the story department. Nearly every title offered a base storyline to gather the fighters together and then individual storylines for each of the characters, some of which didn’t even connect to the core story in any way. Then things began to change. Games like Mortal Kombat, Blazblue, Dead or Alive, Injustice, and even low budget fighters offered story modes that incorporated an entire roster of characters interacting, fighting, and eventually coming to a head.

When Capcom launched Street Fighter V it lacked any worthwhile story but now the company has released their first cinematic story in the form of “A Shadow Falls.” The question is, does this story mode and latest update add anything worthwhile to the game?

Story

The core of Street Fighter V: A Shadow Falls involves the Shadaloo using strange satellites that have been placed in orbit around the planet. When activated using strange chess piece like objects that have been sent around the globe to various locations, including into the hands of fights such as Laura, Zangief, and others, they can cause mass hysteria in the locations they are placed. This is demonstrated when F.A.N.G. manages to utilize a piece to activate one of these “Black Moons” and completely disables all network and power grids in the city of New York.

Street-Fighter-V-a-shadow-falls-screenshot-004

The Shadaloo plans on using these Black Moons in an effort to cause chaos which will, in turn, provide Bison with even stronger Psycho Power abilities and even make him invincible. As such it comes down to the various other fighters around the globe who will need to stand up to the Shadaloo forces because not only do these pieces serve as a way to activate these moons, they also can be used to disable them for good. This places three factions on the move as the Shadaloo members seek pieces in order to enhance Bison, the heroic fighters try to prevent it, and then another group involving Charlie Nash, who wants revenge against Bison for killing him, moving in an effort to find these pieces.

There are of course a couple of random fighters mixed into the mix, including the lauded Necalli who is treated almost as a joke thanks to the amount of screentime and handling in the story mode. I say this because while no one really expects anything amazing from a fighting game’s story mode, especially when the Street Fighter franchise is extended outside of the games and into other media rarely turns out well, players should be prepared for a bare bones storyline that barely even attempts to deliver any meaningful character interactions or anything outside of being a bit corny here and there.

Street-Fighter-V-a-shadow-falls-screenshot-003

In an effort to keep things as simple as possible, players will be able to complete the story mode in the game in less than three hours and this is a real shame because this story has a lot of missed potential. One of the biggest problems comes with the ever shifting focus of the story as it jumps between character groups in an effort to give every character a chance to step into the spotlight only for most of these characters to serve as nothing more than background filler for the rest of the storyline.

Interactions between characters who should really have been given a chance to talk in some form, such as Charlie and Guile, are never delivered in any meaningful way and even the potential for dipping into fun little side events thanks to some strange pairings that are made up with the group of characters facing down Shadaloo are never explored outside of a few repeated gags since most of the dialogue is strictly story advancement or explanations and that is all. This means that those looking for any real storyline here shouldn’t really expect much, especially compared to everything else that is on the market these days.

Gameplay

As mentioned before, those who play through the game’s story mode will find themselves completing it in around three hours or less and this is thanks to the way that the fights are worked into the game. Every time the player is dropped into a battle they are given only one round to fight against an incredibly easy opponent who will often stand there and simply let the player beat them without even trying to move or, at best, use basic combat actions that rarely are a threat. With this completely lacking computer AI these fights rarely last longer than ten seconds a piece and this ends up resulting in a complete lack of tension in the story mode as well since any conflict is resolved almost instantly by the player.

Street-Fighter-V-a-shadow-falls-screenshot-001

It is true that players do have the option, once they complete the story mode entirely, to raise the difficulty to a higher level, very few players will want to bother revisiting the story in any way simply to see if they can take down the slightly enhanced AI. This means that while the story does allow even the newest of players to access its content, longtime fans will be disappointed here.

Street-Fighter-V-a-shadow-falls-screenshot-005

That being said, these fans will also appreciate the fact that a number of characters, including the yet to be released Juri and Urien who are actually playable in this mode, serve as enemies that the player will need to fight against for perhaps the first time ever. This includes a number of unique Dolls that all have a unique looking fighting style and special moves that the player will need to usually stand around to let them perform as well as a number of simpler enemies to fight that help add a bit of spice to the mix. This extra bit of spice helps keep the story mode fights from feeling too monotonous even if they still remain incredibly easy.

Visuals & Audio

One place that Street Fighter V’s story mode excels at is in its presentation. Every character presented in the storyline, even those that never fight, are given complete detailed models that interact with the rest of the cast without flaw. In fact, the entire presentation of the story featured only a few off model moments where long clothing or hair would flail wildly before settling down. This amount of detail in the long story scenes really does its best to help present A Shadow Falls as a legitimate storyline that players will want to watch even if the content itself is hardly noteworthy.

Street-Fighter-V-a-shadow-falls-screenshot-002

As for the voice work, fans will be pleased to hear that all of the standard voice actors have reprised their roles in this game and that every scene and interaction is voiced incredibly well. In fact, while it may be hard to hear at times and some fights might finish too quickly to hear everything, certain fights between characters do feature special dialogue that plays over the course of the fight, adding an extra touch to the character interaction.

Overall

Street Fighter V: A Shadow Falls may look and sound great but unfortunately this story mode fails to capitalize on the amount of interactions and stories that could be told by its cast and instead settles with telling a fairly mundane story. Plus, thanks to the extremely simple combat spaced between cutscenes, even the gameplay element here is simplistic at best, with the only highlights being facing off against non-playable fighters.

DC UNIVERSE™ ONLINE’S SUMMER OF WONDER OPENS EPISODES TO ALL PLAYERS FOR WONDER WOMAN’S 75th ANNIVERSARY

DC UNIVERSE™ ONLINE’S SUMMER OF WONDER OPENS EPISODES TO ALL PLAYERS FOR WONDER WOMAN’S 75th ANNIVERSARY

SUMMER OF WONDER: This week, the Summer of Wonder kicks off, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the iconic character Wonder Woman in DC Universe™ Online (DCUO). The Summer of Wonder honors decades of characters and community, and a new video released today with commentary from developers and VO actress Susan Eisenberg shines a light on the character’s design and legacy in DCUO. To commemorate this milestone, Daybreak Games will be implementing Open Episodes in DC Universe Online, which will allow all DCUO players to enjoy the content, regardless of Daybreak Membership or purchase status*, starting with Game Update 62 on July 20 until Aug. 21, 2016.

If players own the content, either from a previous purchase or through membership, they will keep the standard loot lockout times. If not, they will still be able to play with everyone else, but with extended loot lockout times. Open Episodes are designed to encourage everyone to play together, to see the whole game, and have fun saving the world. The developers want this summer to be one of the best times for players to advance their characters, get back into the game, or go further than they ever have.

Additionally, all players that log into the game during the Summer of Wonder will be granted a special Wonder Woman 75 in-game emblem for free.

Earlier this month, Daybreak Games announced that after Episode 26 this August, DCUO will transition from its current system of monthly Episode launches to larger, more substantial content releases in an effort to address the community’s desire for more meaningful advances in endgame progression and storytelling. Episode 27 – Amazon Fury Part III – will be the first new Episode to arrive in this format, maintaining many of the expectations set in prior Episodes, including multiple storylines and Elite versions of content. Game updates will continue to bring new features, as well as seasonal events and survival modes, to the DCUO experience in the interim.
