It will be screened at 110 U.S. theaters on February 7 and 8, 2017. Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception Rated by the ESRB

It looks like Utawarerurmono: False Mask, also known as Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen, may be making its way over to English speaking shores sometime in the future with a slightly different name. The ESRB has posted a rating for Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception for the PS Vita with the rating listing Sega as the publisher. This Aquaplus developed strategy-RPG/visual novel was originally released for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita in 2015 and had the third game in the trilogy released last year.

Whether or not Sega, or perhaps Atlus USA, will be localizing the game is currently unknown but for now you can check out the the description provided by the ESRB below:

This is a strategy role-playing game in which players help an amnesiac hero regain his lost memories. From a 3/4-overhead perspective, players explore the environment, interact with characters, and engage in turn-based battles against enemy soldiers. Players use swords, staffs, and magic spells to attack enemies; damage is indicated by flashes of light and hit-point numbers. A handful of sequences depict large bloodstains on the ground and splashes of blood as a character slashes through an army of enemy soldiers; large blood stains may also appear on the players’ screen.

The game contains references to sexual material in the dialogue (e.g., “We would like you to describe Master’s habits. His sexual likes and dislikes. . .The average number of times Master is able to perform on a nightly basis. Also his favored positions” and “It’d be a shame if those great t*ts of yours never get the lovin’ they deserve.”). Some sequences and gallery images depict characters partially nude with obscured breasts and buttocks; one prolonged sequence involves a character losing her underwear/bottom and exposing her groin— though no genitalia is depicted. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” appear in dialogue.

Absolute Duo Manga and Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea Licensed by Seven Seas

0

Seven Seas Entertainment has decided to start off the year, or at least as close as possible to the start of the year, with a couple of licensing announcements. Today the manga publisher announced that they have acquired the licenses for the Absolute Duo manga adaptation of the light novel series with the first volume set to ship on August 29th and Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea which will be released in a single omnibus volume on July 4th and digitally in single volumes on the same day.

Absolute Duo, which had an anime adaptation in 2015, follows the story of Tor Kokonoe who enters the prestigious Koryo Academy, a high school dedicated to training its students to wield Blaze—individualized weapons that are manifestations of one’s soul, in an effort to avenge the death of his younger sister. While the future of a student is often determined by the form their weapon takes, Tor is an Irregular, whose Blaze appears as a shield instead of a melee weapon. How can Tor possibly learn to use his defensive abilities to fight effectively? That’s when the Duo system comes in, a program where students are paired up as battle mates, classmates and roommates. Tor’s is paired with a silver-haired girl from Scandinavia named Julie Sigtuna, who possesses a power the likes of which has never been seen, and shares his thirst for revenge.

As for Wadanohara and the Great Blue Sea the story follows young witch Wadanohara who has just returned from a journey across the oceans, searching for a clue to mysteriously lost memories. But now that she has come home, Wadanohara must begin a new quest to ensure the safety of the ocean kingdom she hails from, along with her familiars Memoca, Dolphi and Fukami. When a mysterious figure from her past appears and demands that she leave her ocean home forever, will it be enough to stop Wadanohara from upholding a family legacy to save her world from an invading force?

Scalebound Officially Cancelled by Microsoft

The last time that we heard of the Platinum Games developed action RPG Scalebound was during their 2016 E3 presentation when they talked about how multiplayer was being added into the game and now today it turns out that was the last that we’ll ever see of the game. Microsoft has officially announced that they have ended development of Scalebound and that it will no longer be releasing on the Xbox One or PC this year after having the title in development for many years.

Microsoft provided the following statement to explain their cancellation of Scalebound:

“After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for Scalebound. We’re working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and other great experiences.”

KICK SOME ASCII WITH THE PC RELEASE OF BRUT@L ON FEBRUARY 9

Uniquely Stylized Dungeon Crawler From Stormcloud Games Set for Global PC Release Via Digital Retailers
Los Angeles, CA – January 9, 2017 – Video game publisher Rising Star Games confirmed today the global release date for the visually striking and critically-acclaimed action game Brut@l. On February 9, PC gamers across the globe can enjoy this re-imagining of the classic ASCII dungeon crawler. A procedurally-generated co-operative and single-player dungeoneering thrill ride, Brut@l fuses old-school gaming with a stunning 3D visual style, creating an experience that is inspired by the earliest of videogame adventures, yet feels uniquely fresh and exciting.

View the trailer HERE: youtube.com/watch?v=z1IWBx5uqaE

Playing solo or with a fellow adventurer in local two-player co-op, choose your Brut@l hero – Ranger, Mage, Warrior or Amazon – then descend into a procedurally-generated world constructed entirely of ASCII. Your goal? Reach the 26th floor and vanquish the fearsome Guardian of the Dungeon awaiting there.

Battle fearsome creatures as you explore deeper, gain strength and experience, craft and enchant weapons, brew and drink strange potions, risk their effects and level up your hero based on the play style that suits you. Survive for as long as you can and tactically decide when – or if! – to revive your co-op buddy should they fall in battle.

As well as offering extensive single and co-op adventuring with a near infinite number of dungeon layouts and enemy encounters, Brut@l grants wannabe arcane architects the power to get creative with its Dungeon Creator. This intuitive editing tool lets you build, share, play and of course die in your very own dungeon.

“We are delighted to be working with Rising Star Games to bring Brut@l, our humble homage to old-school ASCII dungeon crawlers, back to its spiritual home on PC”, said Frank Arnot, Managing Director at Stormcloud Games.

“Brut@l is an exciting and unique proposition and we are thrilled to partner with Stormcloud Games to be able to bring the game to PC gamers after a successful run on console”, said Martin Defries, Managing Director of Rising Star Games. “It’s a blood-splattered kick off for Rising Star Games’ killer 2017 line-up”.

Developed by Stormcloud Games and published by Rising Star Games, Brut@l will release on February 9 on PC via digital retailers. To find out more, visit brutal-game.com, follow Rising Star Games on Twitter and check out the official Rising Star Games website.
