Revolutionary New Fighting Game ARMS Now Available for Nintendo Switch

Revolutionary New Fighting Game ARMS Now Available for Nintendo Switch

Launch Comes on the Heels of Epic Tournament at E3

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– To cap off a month of all things ARMS – highlighted by two popular Global Testpunch events and a live-streamed tournament this week at the E3 video game conference – Nintendo’s unique new fighting game is now available in stores and in Nintendo eShop on the Nintendo Switch console. Since being revealed back in January, the fast-paced game starring fighters with extendable Arms has gained quite the following, with fans all over the world already debating their favorite characters and actively participating in the recent Global Testpunch demos to get a taste of what the game has to offer. And now the moment is here! The ARMS game is now available for everyone, even those with regular-sized arms, to enjoy.

Just this week, at the E3 convention in Los Angeles, Nintendo hosted a live-streamed ARMS competition that pitted four expert competitive gamers from the fighting game community against E3 attendees who qualified during the event. The nail-biting competition was a huge hit (no pun intended), drawing crowds to Nintendo’s booth and thousands more online, resulting in Jamal M. being crowned the 2017 ARMS Open Invitational champion. Jamal M. was presented the coveted 2017 ARMS Open Invitational belt before taking on the game’s producer, Kosuke Yabuki, in a thrilling exhibition match.

“With ARMS, we are delivering a new and exciting type of game that takes advantage of everything Nintendo Switch can do,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “The launch of ARMS kicks off a summer of competitive gaming for Nintendo Switch, with fun multiplayer games Splatoon 2 and Pokkén Tournament DX also launching over the next few months.”

ARMS is easy to pick up and play, but it has an incredible amount of depth for advanced players. In the game, players select one of 10 fighters with big personalities and even bigger Arms to battle other players in dynamic arenas. To add strategy to the battles, players can select two different Arms (one for the right and one for the left), each with unique specialties and abilities. Using the motion controls of the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers, players can throw a punch with a flick forward, move around the stage by tilting the controllers in the desired direction or even execute a powerful throw by moving both hands forward at the same time. The controls are intuitive, engaging and easy for players of any age to learn. Players can even use the Joy-Con attached to the Joy-Con Grip or the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller (sold separately) for a more traditional experience.

In addition to one-on-one fighting matches that can be played locally or online (Nintendo Account required, online services and features, including online gameplay, are free until the paid Nintendo Switch Online Service launches in 2018), ARMS is overflowing with multiple fun modes that stretch the limits of game-play options. In Team Fight, two players are tethered together and must team up to battle another team of two. Similar to volleyball, V-Ball is a mode that involves knocking an explosive ball into the opponent’s court. Hoops lets opponents shoot each other into a basketball net (or even dunk them for extra satisfaction). Several more modes are also available in the game, many of which can be played online. And using the versatility of Nintendo Switch, ARMS can be played at home or on the go. ARMS also will get continual support beyond the game’s launch, adding on even more fighters, stages and Arms at no additional cost.

ARMS is now available in stores and Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch at a suggested retail price of $59.99. A set of two Neon Yellow Joy-Con inspired by the colorful aesthetic of the game is also now available at a suggested retail price of $79.99. Players can pick them up to brighten up their ARMS game, or even to mix and match with other Joy-Con colors to personalize their Nintendo Switch system.

The Mythical Pokémon Marshadow’s secrets are coming to light!

The Mythical Pokémon Marshadow’s secrets are coming to light!

The Gloomdweller Pokémon Marshadow is the first Fighting- and Ghost-type Pokémon, and it has its own exclusive Z-Move: Soul-Stealing 7-Star Strike!

London, United Kingdom: 15 June 2017 — Among the numerous Pokémon discovered to date, Marshadow is the first to combine Fighting type and Ghost- type. Marshadow is able to conceal itself in the shadows, and it never appears before humans, so its very existence was previously thought to be a myth.

Marshadow can sink into the shadows of others and copy their moves and power. Fighting-type Pokémon are usually weak in battle against Psychic-type Pokémon, but with Marshadow, you’ll be able to take advantage of its Ghost-type abilities to battle effectively!

When standing up to enemies with its full power, parts of Marshadow’s body turn green, thanks to its burning fighting spirit.

Spectral Thief is a new move which only Marshadow can learn. This move steals any stat boosts that the target had and then deals an attack. It’s a powerful physical move with a surprising effect. Change a crisis into a chance, and victory may be within your reach!

Once Marshadow knows Spectral Thief, the special Z-Move Soul-Stealing 7-Star Strike can be used. Marshadow must also be holding the special Z-Crystal Marshadium Z, which cannot be obtained through regular gameplay, to perform this Z-Move.

More details, including how Trainers can get this Pokémon for their game, will be announced at a future time.

Rockstar Speaks out against OpenIV Mod Tools

Rockstar and Take-Two are in full damage control mode after the OpenIV mod team announced yesterday that they were issued a cease and desist order after a decade of development. The following statement was issued to multiple news outlet, explaining Take-Two’s legal actions:

“Take-Two’s actions were not specifically targeting single player mods. Unfortunately OpenIV enables recent malicious mods that allow harassment of players and interfere with the GTA Online experience for everybody. We are working to figure out how we can continue to support the creative community without negatively impacting our players.”

The explanation is in stark contrast to OpenIV’s account provided yesterday, which explicitly stated that Grand Theft Auto Online was strictly off-limits for the OpenIV project to prevent this exact situation. Today, the post received an edit that further documented the events, explaining that lead developer GooD-NTS had requested more information on how Take-Two believed OpenIV was violating Russian laws after Take-Two’s legal team emailed him with the request to shut OpenIV down. Instead of providing more information, GooD-NTS was issued the cease and desist order.

Take-Two’s actions so far has done little to stem the public fury over Take-Two’s actions. Grand Theft Auto V‘s Steam Reviews have plummeted to “Mostly Negative” status since the announcement. Take-Two’s newly acquired game Kerbal Space Program has also seen a share of negative reviews calling for a boycott of Take-Two. The Games, PCGaming, and Grand Theft Auto V subreddits have generally not taken to kindly to the OpenIV shutdown.

So far, this has been a self-inflicted PR nightmare for Take-Two. Whether Take-Two will suffer any financial hit due to this publicity disaster is uncertain, but the “Mostly Negative” status could have an effect on sales with Steam’s annual Summer Sale set to begin any week now. On the other hand, the loss of OpenIV is a huge blow to Grand Theft Auto V modding community, and the community may be grappling with the long term repercussions for quite sometime.

Get Your First Look at Giant Ogre Slaying Action in Extinction in New Trailer

Iron Galaxy and Maximum Games released the first gameplay footage of their upcoming ogre giant slaying action game Extinction today in a gameplay walkthrough narrated by Executive Producer Derek Neal. The video is comprised of pre-alpha footage and shows a world with a lower population than the final release. The movement system is on display in the walkthrough with hero Avil demonstrating a variety of high speed jumps, climbs, slides and swings with the whip. Of course, the star of Extinction’s gameplay featured in the video, doing battle with massive, multi-storey ogres known as Ravenii. Each ogre must have their armour removed and their limbs dismembered so the player can climb up to their head and safely kill the ogre. Players must be careful as limbs will slowly regenerate and one hit is enough to kill.

Based on the gameplay footage, Extinction looks like it will stack up to be an adrenaline packed game. The game looks like the the love child of Shadow of the Colossus and Devil May Cry. Extinction is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in early 2018.

Continuous Support for Dying Light | Techland Announces 10 Free DLCs in 12 Months

Continuous Support for Dying Light | Techland Announces 10 Free DLCs in 12 Months

Wroclaw, Poland – June 15, 2017 – Today, through an open message from the company’s CEO, Techland announced that the team is developing new content for Dying Light:

Almost three years after the original Dying Light was released, about half a million people still play the game every week. In the very first months on the market in 2015, the weekly numbers were around 700 000. This shows that our community is still huge, active, and craving for more. Not a single day passes without requests for new weapons, outfits, and quests. In the face of such enthusiasm and engagement, we cannot keep quiet. Today I’m happy to announce Techland’s continuous support for Dying Light.

Original content is already in the works and our fans can expect to face new challenging enemies, master new gameplay mechanics, solve more Harran mysteries, and even explore never-seen-before locations. This translates to ten pieces of DLC in the first twelve months of our continuous support – available free for all players, across all platforms.

Continuous support means also more updates, gameplay tweaks, and community events.  As we firmly believe in active collaboration between the design team and players, we hope this announcement will encourage our fans to share their thoughts, stories, and ideas about how we can improve their experience even more.

The continuous support for Dying Light will come in many shapes and forms. Free DLCs will include new locations, story-driven quests, gameplay mechanics, weapons, enemies, and more. Simultaneously, the game will receive gameplay improvements and balance tweaks as well as more frequent community events – up to 4 per quarter. Techland also prepares to launch a dedicated community platform through which fans will have an influence on what kind of new content is created – more details about the platform will be announced soon.

The first new content for Dying Light labelled Content Drop #0 – will launch for free in the coming weeks with the focus on new enemies. This Drop #0 is a taste of the new things coming to the game, before the “10 free DLCs in 12 months” campaign fully launches later this year.

First Extinction Gameplay Revealed

First Extinction Gameplay Revealed

Preview the Story, Setting, and Combat Mechanics

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.  (June 15, 2017) — Fresh off the heels of E3 2017, Executive Producer, Derek Neal, walks us through a first look at the world setting and gameplay of Iron Galaxy’s new action-adventure game – Extinction.

E3 Gameplay Walkthrough trailer

The world of Extinction is vibrant and lush, but it’s under siege by a massive army of otherworldly invaders called the Ravenii. The main protagonist, Avil, is one of the last of the legendary order of Sentinels – warriors who are equipped with the skills and tools necessary to take down these fearsome foes. His ultimate goal is to save as much of humanity as possible, by helping civilians escape their imminent doom.

Extinction’s gameplay is fast, fluid, and emphasises high-speed traversal around the environment.  Avil can dash in any direction, run horizontally and vertically along surfaces, cling to walls, pull himself up ledges, traverse his environment with his whip. He can run on virtually anything, including buildings, mountainsides, and even all over his colossal foes.

Combat in Extinction requires skillfully combining Avil’s wide arsenal of attacks with his extremely high mobility in order to take down the Ravenii and their minions. He can chain attacks together in a variety of ways, as well as cancel his attacks into powerful Rune Strikes (and even dodges). His momentum builds up as he kills minions, dismembers ogres, saves civilians, and completes other objectives. This makes him more powerful, and gives him the energy he needs to land the killing strike.

More details about these game systems will be announced in the future. For now, you can see Avil in action in the gameplay video. Also, be on the lookout for more coverage from E3 2017!

Extinction will be available on PlayStation®4, Xbox One and PC in Q1 2018.
