CALL OF DUTY: INFINITE WARFARE RETRIBUTION DLC AVAILABLE NOW, FIRST ON PLAYSTATION®4

Fourth DLC Pack Features Four New, Epic Multiplayer Maps, Including Re-Imagined Map, Warhawk New Co-Op Experience “The Beast from Beyond” Marks Epic Conclusion to  Infinite Warfare Zombies Experience

Sept. 13, 2017 – Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Retribution, the fourth DLC Map Pack for 2016’s No. 1 top-selling console video game in the U.S. (excluding hardware bundle sales), is available now on the PlayStation® Network for the PlayStation®4. Published by Activision and developed by Infinity Ward, Retribution features four new multiplayer maps, and the highly-anticipated culmination of the Infinite Warfare zombies storyline called “The Beast from Beyond,” which takes players to an abandoned military base on a distant ice planet to fight the undead.

“Our mission from the start was to craft a level of customisation for Infinite Warfare players to suit their combat styles, across diverse multiplayer maps where all types of players would feel rewarded. Retribution delivers on that promise, and we can’t wait to see the community jump in,” said Dave Stohl, Studio Head of Infinity Ward. “Additionally, Retribution marks the final chapter of our zombies story, so we’re taking players to a cool new setting, full of twists and turns, where they’ll uncover the true motivation behind our villain’s motives.”

Retribution presents the conclusion to the five-part Infinite Warfare zombies experience, The Beast from Beyond. The thrilling co-op mode features the return of Willard Wyler, the enigmatic movie director villain portrayed with voice and likeness by Paul Reubens (Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, Gotham). Wyler has now taken our four protagonists to a desolate military space station on a distant ice planet, where they’ll battle hordes of the undead, along with an enemy breed longtime Call of Duty fans will recognize, to uncover the real truth behind Wyler and his horror films. The Beast from Beyond also features new weapons, imaginative traps and more, in addition to the hallmark, frenetic Call of Duty action, with Seth Green (Robot Chicken, Austin Powers) as “Poindexter;” Ike Barinholtz (Neighbors, Suicide Squad) as “AJ;” Jay Pharoah (White Famous, Saturday Night Live) as “Andre;” and Sasheer Zamata (Saturday Night Live, Inside Amy Schumer) as “Sally,” all making a return from the previous instalments.

Retribution also features four new multiplayer maps:

  • Carnage – A post-apocalyptic race track along the California coast, Carnage features long sightlines and environmental hazards, including a fire trap players can activate on command to roast their enemies.
  • Heartland – In Heartland, teams will go head-to-head in a simulation of small town America that is a re-imagining of the classic map, Warhawk from Call of Duty: Ghosts. Players can pop into the local ice cream shop for a treat, and then take out enemies down the street with a Black Hole Generator.
  • Altitude – Set in a high-end, sky high shopping mall located on the edges of the universe, Altitude thrusts teams around a chaotic centre where quick flank routes are key to victory. Additional features include floating lush waterfalls that border the map.
  • Depot 22 – Depot 22 is a watering hole at the end of civilisation that focuses on mid-ranged encounters waged in a medium-sized, three-lane map. Players can battle in the cantina for close-quarter combat or engage with enemies wall-running off of a moving train.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Retribution DLC Map Pack is available for a great value via the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Season Pass, which can be purchased on its own or obtained as part of the Legacy Pro or Digital Deluxe editions of the game. Season Pass gives discounted access to all four Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare DLC Map Packs released during 2017 (discount based on a Season Pass suggested retail price of AUD$64.95 / NZD$69.95, and four individual DLC Map Packs at a suggested retail price of AUD$19.95 / NZD$22.95 each). Upon purchase, Season Pass owners also receive three additional base weapons, as well as 10 Rare Supply Drops and 1,000 bonus Salvage Credits to craft new prototype weapons.

KOEI TECMO EUROPE DETAILS DEMON-SLAYING ACTION FOR NIGHTS OF AUZRE 2: BRIDE OF THE NEW MOON

Survive The Environment While Fighting Devastating Foes Alongside Both Human and Demonic Allies!

Hertfordshire, 12th September 2017 – Today KOEI TECMO Europe detailed its action-packed demon slaying combat system, including a new Servan type which will aid players during battle, in GUST Studio’s latest title, Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon. Slated for release on the 27th October 2017, Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon will be available for the Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Windows PC via Steam®.

As Aluche and her battle party set off on their journey to defeat the Moon Queen, they will encounter a variety of devious and dastardly demons; some of which mean to bring them harm and others which wish to join them on their quest. The mighty Striker type Servans are invaluable assets to any battle party, transforming from their demonic forms to powerful weapons which Aluche can wield in battle. Controlling the Striker type opens up a plethora of abilities to aid in combat situations, improving Aluche’s skills in either long range or close combat depending on which particular Servan she relies upon.

Making the most of the eccentric cast of human and demonic companions is incredibly important in securing victory, and players will be able to choose their dream battle party to give them a selection of unique abilities. The beautiful Lilies are able to perform an impressive combination attack with Aluche, Double Chase. When requirements in battle are met this attack can quickly change the tide of the fight, causing overwhelming damage to anyone in its path. Active Skills, used by Aluche, and Special Skills, activated by the Lilies, can also offer a boost to Aluche’s team in the form of increased health, attack or defence.

Amidst the waves of demons which plague the land are large fiends — devastating boss creatures which will require Aluche and company to utilise not only their innermost strength, but the environments around them as well. Breaking barrels of flammable liquid, for example, can be used to coat the enemy in flame accelerant so that an elemental fire attack will do considerably more damage! Aluche will encounter a unique selection of bosses from Vallderossa, a giant spider which uses its webs to fight, to the Blue-Blooded Fish Joe, which hides underground waiting for an opportunity to strike.

A selection of post-launch bonuses were also announced today for those who purchase Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon within 3 months from launch. On the Nintendo Switch™ players will receive a free download for the Fatal Frame Yuri Kozukata Outfit, whilst those on the PlayStation®4 will obtain the Deception Timenoid Restrains Costume.

Pre-ordering both of GUST Studio’s upcoming titles, Blue Reflection and Nights of Azure 2, will unlock special collaboration costumes for both games. Nights of Azure 2’s Aluche will be able to wear Hinako’s School Uniform Costume, whilst Blue Reflection’s Hinako will be able to don Aluche’s armour. Players can obtain the DLC bonuses from both games either through pre-ordering retail versions and/or purchasing each title digitally on PlayStation®4 during their respective early purchase periods. Steam® users are also able to obtain these costumes through purchasing the “Gust costume bonus bundle: Blue Reflection & Nights of Azure 2”, available from the launch of Blue Reflection until 4 weeks after the launch of Nights of Azure 2.

To celebrate the announcement, KOEI TECMO Europe has released a captivating new trailer which further details the gripping story of Nights of Azure 2: Bride of the New Moon, alongside a first look at the blood thirsty bosses which stand in the way of Aluche’s goal. Screenshots of the dastardly Striker Servans are also included featuring; Pitz, the piercing bee-type Servan, Aile, a bird surrounded by blue flames, Dampf, the mechanical Golem, Alice, a creature which summons the power of rabbit dolls, Dur, the swift and reliable Servan and Glanz, the crystallized Golem.

XCOM® 2: War of the Chosen adds new enemies, playable allies, missions, and a breadth of gameplay features to XCOM 2 that Game Informer called, “Nearly a game’s worth of new content” in their review.

Key features for XCOM 2: War of the Chosen include:

    • The Reapers are infiltration specialists and stealth marksmen living on the fringe of society. Reapers utilize a powerful weapon called the Vektor rifle, as well as a special Claymore explosive – a targetable incendiary device that, when placed and activated, does not cause the Reaper to break Concealment;
    • The Skirmishers are former ADVENT soldiers who have chosen to rebel against their masters. The Skirmisher is an offensive powerhouse, capable of dealing with threats running the gamut from up close to afar, armed with a grappling hook to help close distance and a wrist mounted Ripjack capable of piercing the enemy with deadly force;

  • The Chosen: These powerful adversaries are unique ADVENT enemies tasked by the Elders to recapture the Commander at all costs. Masters of asymmetrical warfare, the Chosen will kidnap, interrogate and ultimately kill XCOM’s soldiers. They can even invade the strategy layer and ravage XCOM’s global operations; The Chosen include:
    • The Hunter stalks its prey from across the map: tracking, wounding and disabling XCOM units at range;
    • The Warlock utilizes a variety of psionic abilities to sow destruction on the battlefield;
    • The Assassin are a stealth-based melee unit who prefers to fight at close range, preying upon XCOM units with her katana.
  • New Alien and ADVENT Threats: Adopt new tactics alongside the new faction allies to counter a deadly new alien known as the Spectre, the explosive attacks of the ADVENT Purifier, the psionically charged ADVENT Priest, as well as the creeping swarms of The Lost.
  • New Photo Booth: Immortalize your soldiers during their trials by creating customizable war-and-meme-worthy posters that are both sharable and can be found while in game.
  • New Environments and Mission Objectives: Players can engage in wide-ranging tactical missions, from abandoned cities devastated by alien bioweapons during the original invasion, to underground tunnels and xenoformed wilderness regions.
  • Enhanced Strategy Layer: Manage Covert Actions, Resistance Orders, and XCOM’s relations with factions while countering enemy operations from the Avenger.
  • Greater Customization & Replayability: Soldiers cultivate bonds with compatible teammates for new abilities and perks, while the SITREP system dynamically adds new modifiers to the tactical layer to make sure every mission provides a unique challenge.
  • Challenge Mode: New regular community challenges featuring unique missions not found in the campaign that rank players on a global leaderboard.

Ubisoft Bringing FPS Atomega to Steam on Sept. 19

Ubisoft Reflections, the developers are the team behind Grow Home and Grow Up, has thrown back the curtains on their new FPS Atomega. The game will be launching on Steam next week on September 19th. Atomega will support up to eight players in fast-paced ten minute rounds.

Atomega is a novel FPS set in the dying moments of the universe. The laws of physics and reality are quickly disappearing. In these crazy last moments, Exoforms are roaming the universe looking to grow. These post-biological life forms are the combination of humankind, machines, and years upon years of evolution. At the beginning of each match, Exoforms start off as small Atoms and must gather mass by collecting fallen pieces around the arena or destroying other Exoforms. By collecting mass, players will be able to progress through seven phases of Exoform evolution. Ten hacks that grant temporary boosts to the Exoform’s ability are available to give players the edge in battle. The player who has collected the most mass at the end of the round is crowned the winner.

JCB Pioneer: Mars Preview

JCB Pioneer: Mars

Developer: Atomicom
Publisher: GamesCo
Platform: Windows
Release Date: 1 September 2017
Price: $24.99 USD – Available Here

JCB Pioneer: Mars is a survival game that imagines what colonization on Mars may look like in the next several years. The game is a partnership between indie developers Atomicom, industrial vehicle manufacturer JCB, and European Space Agency astrophysicist Dr. Maggie Lieu. Using heavy construction vehicles designed specifically for the game by JCB, players will need to build the first colonies on a harsh Martian environment that makes every effort to kill players at every turn. We had a chance to give the very first Steam Early Access build a test run to see what the Red Planet has to offer.

Dr. Maggie Lieu serves as the Atomicom’s technical advisor on JBC Pioneer: Mars. She helped the team create a digital Red Planet that holds similar hazards as the real one. She also lends her voice and likeness to the game’s digital assistant. There is not much writing in the game at this point, but what is there is written properly. Instructions are easy to understand and no major spelling or grammar errors stick out.

JCB Pioneer: Mars is still very early in development. Bugs are very much a part of the game and some major features like button configuration are missing, but the core gameplay elements of construction, resource gathering, and survival are present. Currently, JCB Pioneer: Mars can only be played alone in single player, with multiplayer support in the works.

Upon booting up the game, players crash land on Mars and wake up to a very lousy Martian morning. Players find themselves in the middle of a meteorite shower and must dodge incoming projectiles as they desperately run to the safety of their first vehicle. Once inside, players are soon introduced to their small colony that they will be growing over the next several hours. Surviving Mars is more than just having enough food, water, and oxygen. Besides meteorite showers, players will need to contend with environmental hazards like vicious dust storms, high radiation zones, lava, corrosive clouds, and lightning strikes that will kill or destroy any unprotected living being or machine that decides to linger. Beyond the heart pounding moments of the game’s initial moments, JCB Pioneer: Mars can be a surprisingly tame game. There are still some tense moments when players are stuck navigating through highly hazardous areas with dangerously low health, but those are usually situations players put themselves in. For the patient, figuring out safe routes through areas rife with environmental hazards is half the challenge. The game only supports the most challenging difficulty setting, with two easier settings planned.

Currently, a short quest system that combines gets players off the ground by walking them through collecting the materials needed for building the essential elements for their colony.  The quests are very straight forward and direct players to the nearest nodes to dig up the necessary raw materials for their quest. Frustratingly, players will not have the same information when they decide to harvest material on their own. There is no way to figure out what the node will provide based on the texture. The map simply marks out previously scanned raw material nodes with the incredibly vague description of the node’s rarity. There is a decent tech tree to work through at the moment and the map

Colony management and expansion is a simple affair. Each unit in the colony needs to be wired to the rest of the colony to access power, water, and/or oxygen needed to function. The menus are extremely easy to navigate and setting up new buildings is painless.

Each vehicle is designed by JCB and has its own upgrade tree that consumes Research Points to unlock new upgrades for vehicles. New vehicles and upgrades are purchased with JCB points. Since each vehicle can only follow one path through a tree, players will need to assemble a small fleet of specialized vehicles as the game progresses. I like that the game is so generous with vehicles right at the start of the game. It makes JCB Pioneer: Mars unique among survival games. Also, using the vehicles is a hit of nostalgia. It’s like an adult, sci-fi version of the construction truck toys many of us played with as children.

This brings us to one of JCB Pioneer: Mars’ biggest issues: branding. I get it. Indie development is a tough business. Most developers will lose money on their games and securing funding is hard when everyone and their mother has a crowdfunding campaign for their game. Atomicon is going a bit too far with the branding that it breaks the game’s immersion. The vehicles have their JCB branding which is about on the higher end of the standard branding for construction vehicles, but the branding seems to work its way into almost every corner of the game. Product and logo placements like the prominent Razer laptop in the habitat, the JCB mugs, and the JCB branded currency become so prevalent that it feels like gamers are paying for the privilege of being advertised to. Sure, JCB Pioneer: Mars isn’t the first game or the last that has gamers grappling with the issue of product placements and in-game ads, but JCB Pioneer: Mars is giving the previously existing boundaries a good solid push.

The audio/visual presentation is shaping up nicely. The art style is an excellent near future design that smartly mixes current technology with a sleek near future look. Mars is exactly how I would imagine it based on the mass of pictures sent back by probes. The sound effects are solid. I like the fact that most of the tutorial messages are narrated, and I hope they finish up the rest for the game’s final release.

JCB Pioneer: Mars is the love child of survival games and construction vehicle sims. The addition of the heavy construction vehicles adds a unique twist to the game that will need to be leveraged to the fullest to distinguish the game from the crowded survival game space. There is plenty of development left to go before the game is ready for launch, but the basics building blocks for an very playable Early Access title are already in place. The biggest challenge for Atomicon still lays before them as they generate more content for the game, add new features, and implement the quality of life features that will keep gamers playing.
