3D Realms Brings Classic Multiplayer to Ion Maiden Early 2019

3D Realms Brings Classic Multiplayer to Ion Maiden Early 2019

Awesome ‘90s-Style Big Box Available for Pre-order

DALLAS, TX – 16 July 2018 – Ion Maiden, the old-school first-person shooter from 3D Realms and Voidpoint, introduces classic fast-paced multiplayer when it releases Early 2019 on Windows PC, Mac, and Linux. Those who purchased the game during Early Access will have access to a multiplayer beta closer to launch. A bad-ass limited edition big box is available for pre-order now.

While the developer and publisher hoped to have the game ready for Q3 this year, both teams want to make sure the blood-soaked guns-blazing shooter meets the same level of polish as other FPS classics from 3D Realms. As a gesture of goodwill, old-school multiplayer and big boxes are back, baby. Limited to only 500 units, each Ion Maiden’s Founder’s Edition runs for $99.99 (not including shipping) and will be individually numbered.

The most prized possession within harkens back to the past: the full game contained on a floppy disk with a retractable USB cable (no need to bring back that dusty floppy drive in the garage). This way Ion Maiden’s old-school aesthetic feels right at home.

The Founder’s Edition will also include:

  • 6’’ Bombshell Figurine
  • Ion Maiden’s Original Soundtrack
  • Ion Maiden Mousepad
  • Key Art Poster
  • Bowling Bomb Stickers
  • Lanyard
  • 3 1:1 Scale Key Card Magnets
  • A “Coming Soon from 3D Realms” Catalogue Highlighting Exciting Upcoming Projects

With only 500 copies in production, these won’t remain available for long. 3D Realms has prepared a pre-order page with a real-time counter denoting how many copies remain. Additional merch is available at the bottom of page. Anyone who purchased Ion Maiden via Steam Early Access can buy this special edition at a 10% discount by going to 3D Realms’ store page.

Ion Maiden’s polished exclusive multi-hour preview campaign is available on Steam Early Access now in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Russian for $19.99. The game launches fully Early 2019.

“We wanted Ion Maiden out as soon as possible, but it has to be the best it can be,” Frederik Schreiber, Vice President, 3D Realms. “But this extra time means we can make this awesome Big Box edition and add multiplayer at launch, so we hope players understand.”

For more information please explore the official Ion Maiden website.

Duncan Jones to bring ROGUE TROOPER to the big screen

Duncan Jones to bring ROGUE TROOPER to the big screen

Acclaimed filmmaker Duncan Jones is to bring Rogue Trooper, a character from the legendary award-winning British comic book 2000 AD, to the big screen.

It will see the critically-lauded director of Moon, Source Code, Warcraft and Mute write and direct the as-yet-unnamed picture.

Jones confirmed the new joint venture between Liberty Films and Rebellion, the Oxford-based games publishers and owners of 2000 AD, on his Twitter account today.

“For years now, I have felt a sting as Marvel and DC have poured out their entire comic roster into film.  Wonderful for their fans, but every new release I silently scream “Where’s all the 2000 AD?!”  I’m so excited to finally be able to right that wrong and bring Finley-Day and Gibbons’ Rogue Trooper, a seminal British spun war yarn, to the big screen!” said Jones.

Jason Kingsley, CEO and Creative Director of Rebellion, said: “Rogue Trooper has always been one of my favourite old school thrills from 2000 AD. I’m very happy to be working closely with Duncan and Stuart on this project and look forward to seeing the results on the silver screen.”

Chris Kingsley, Co-founder and CTO of Rebellion, said: “The first time I met Duncan he had a Mohawk – I’m tickled pink to see he’s now brought it back with a full-on Nu blue. It shows his unique level of commitment and passion for Rogue Trooper, and that’s why we’re so excited to be working with him and his legions.”

The deal was negotiated by producer Stuart Fenegan and Rebellion’s Jason Kingsley. Fenegan will produce the film under his and Jones’ Liberty Films banner, Jason Kingsley and Chris Kingsley will Executive Produce.

Fenegan said: “Eat leaden death Nort scum!”

Rogue Trooper is one of the greatest characters to come out of 2000 AD, which also publishes characters such as Judge Dredd, Nemesis the Warlock, and Strontium Dog. Created by Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons, Rogue Trooper is a genetically-engineered soldier bred to fight on Nu-Earth, a hellish planet consumed by an endless war between the Norts and the Southers. The sole survivor of a massacre that claimed his fellow GIs, Rogue sets out on a mission to find the traitor who betrayed them – the personalities of three dead comrades plugged into his helmet, backpack, and rifle.

Jones is one of a generation of leading British film directors who have been inspired by the satirical, anti-establishment and hyper-violent comic strips in 2000 AD. First published in 1977, 2000 AD has been at the cutting edge of British culture for four decades and continues to publish ground-breaking science fiction, fantasy, and horror comics.

About LIBERTY FILMS
Liberty Films was founded in 2005 by producer Stuart Fenegan and director Duncan Jones. Established in the competitive London advertising industry, their successful creative partnership has resulted in four feature films to date: MUTE starring Alexander Skarsgård, Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux, for Netflix, launched in February 2018; WARCRAFT, for Legendary Entertainment, Atlas Entertainment and Universal Pictures, grossed $430 million at the worldwide box office in 2016; the critically acclaimed SOURCE CODE, featuring Jake Gyllenhaal was released by Summit Entertainment in 2011; and MOON, Jones’ feature directorial debut, led by Sam Rockwell, won the BAFTA Award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer in 2009. Fenegan was also nominated with MOON for the BAFTA for Best British Film.

Liberty Films have several TV and film projects in development for Jones and other rising British directorial talent.

About Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege

Inspired by real-world counter-terrorist organisations, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege puts players in the middle of lethal close-quarter confrontations. For the first time in a Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six game, players will engage in sieges, a new style of assault where enemies have the means to transform their environments into modern strongholds while Rainbow Six teams lead the assault to breach the enemy’s position. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege gives players unprecedented control over their ability to fortify their position by reinforcing walls and floors, using barbed wire and deployable shields, laying mines and more, or to breach the enemies’ position using observation drones, setting charges, rappelling and more. The fast pace and uniqueness of each siege sets a new bar for intense firefights, strategic gameplay and competitive gaming.

The Path of Motus Review

The Path of Motus

Developer: MichaelArts
Publisher: MichaelArts
FormatPlayStation 4Xbox OnePC (Reviewed)
Release Date: 17 Jul 2018
Price: $14.99USD – Available Here

Overview

“Introducing The Path of Motus, A Game Where Words Hurt…. Literally.

Refreshing concept, I must admit. So far I played games where I got to use some unique weapons such as donkeys, cows, bees, paint brushes and even an exploding sheep! But this is one of the first games using actual words as weapons. How does it work, though? Do we go for letters like R, F, H, K and others with pointy ends and sharp edges so we can slash enemy throats better? Sadly no, it’s nothing like that. While I found such assumptions amusing, the reality of The Path of Motus is much grimmer.

Story

To put it simply, The Path of Motus is a game about bullying. We follow our protagonist, Motus, from childhood to adult age. Motus has a dream of building bridges through the forest. By using an art brush passed down to him from his dad, he can connect groups of nodes together to design bridges. But wait, there’s more! As if solving puzzles and platforming through the forest wasn’t difficult enough, you’ll find plenty of mean goblins scattered throughout the forest, attacking you with mean words. In other word, bullies.

Gameplay

In The Path of Motus, words can be clearly seen and have a physical shape. They’re also dangerous if you get hit by them so try to avoid that. They usually come in three different colors (blue, red and yellow representing fear, anger, and confusion) and they’re easily countered by attacking the bullies with the matching word/emotion. If you’re fast enough, you can attack them with a matching word before they are able to react and away they go! Probably to some bully hell to suffer for all the eternity. Or maybe not. As the creator, Michael Hicks pointed out on The Path of Motus website that “people who bully others are usually unhappy with themselves”, it should serve us as a reminder that there is always more to the story. The Path of Motus acknowledges that and it doesn’t portray certain antagonists as black & white. Like in real life, there is always some hidden reason why some people act horribly. As you move forward in the game, countering bullies and opening new areas – you learn more about yourself, the bullies and the world around you. Again, not so different from real life.

Visuals

There is something about visuals that could be said about the game in general. The overall topic of The Path of Motus is not something that might resonate with everyone or serve as an incentive to play. Same goes for the art. The game features a unique pastel art with mellow colors, making it seem like you’re playing a childrens picture book in motion. I found it interesting to say the least but it might not be everyones cup of tea.

Audio

Before The Path of Motus, Michael Hicks was already a familiar name in indie gaming scene thanks to his Pillar release. It was well received and amongst other things, a well-crafted soundtrack stood out there. You can expect the same in The Path of Motus. Despite the serious theme, the game features a vibrant soundtrack. There were a couple of vocal tracks that made me move back and forth in a level (that way I could lie myself that I’m actually doing something) only so I could listen it to the end. I was paranoid that entering a new area might stop the certain tune and I’m still too scared to test that. In any case, soundtrack here is a definite plus.

Overall

The Path of Motus is a product that stands out from your average indie release in more ways than one. A serious topic, unique approach in telling the story, peculiar art and a lively soundtrack are just some of the examples on why you should give this a go If you’re always on the prowl for something fresh and different in indie gaming scene, then there’s no reason on why you should miss out on The Path of Motus.

New Hunt: Showdown Content Arrives in Update 2.1

New Hunt: Showdown Content Arrives in Update 2.1

Experience new weapons, improvements, and mission conditions

FRANKFURT, Germany July 16, 2018 – Even more new content for Hunt: Showdown, Crytek’s early access multiplayer bounty hunting game, went live today with the release of Update 2.1, coming hot on the heels of the release of Update 2. Update 2.1’s two biggest additions are both community-requested features: a partner spectator mode for players who die during a match and a new mission type with heavy fog.

With Update 2.1, players will also get access to more weapons and the usual slew of improvements and bug fixes. New weapons included in the update are the Crossbow, Hand Crossbow, Poisonhand Crossbow, Throwing Knives, a Specter with bayonet, a Sparks with silencer, a Winfield with silencer, and a Combat Axe. Two related traits have also been added—Bolt Thrower and Bolt Seer—which will give any bow slinger additional prowess. Fixes range from menu tweaks to weapon balancing, and the details are all available in the Update Patch Notes.

“Seeing the reactions of the community and working closely with their feedback to fine-tune the direction of the game has been an incredible process,” said Loic Raimond (Live Service Producer) of Hunt’s early access process. “It feels like a truly collaborative process, and the game is all the better—and more fun—for it.”

About Hunt: Showdown

Hunt: Showdown is a competitive first-person bounty hunting game with heavy PvE elements, from the makers of Crysis. Set in the darkest corners of the world, it packs the thrill of survival games into a match-based format. Hunt’s competitive, match-based gameplay mixes PvP and PvE elements to create a uniquely tense experience. Each match pits up to ten players—playing solo or in teams of two—against each other as they fight for bounty by taking out gruesome monsters in the swamps of Louisiana. Once they’ve found and defeated one of these they will receive a bounty—and instantly become a target for every other Hunter left on the map. The higher the risk, the higher the reward–but a single mistake could cost everything.
