Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts Announced for PC, PS4, and Xbox One

CI Games announced the next chapter in the Sniper Ghost Warrior franchise will be a more tailored experience compared to the previous open world title. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts is set in the harsh Siberian wilderness where players will tackle contracts to take on specific targets in exchange for money. Missions will be open ended as each contract will have a main objective and a series of optional objectives that will provide extra cash at the end. The developers are emphasizing replayability as each mission has multiple approaches.

On the technical side, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts will be using an upgraded version of the Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 engine. Since the release of 3, the engine has been heavily optimized to improve stability and FPS.

CI Games CEO Marek Tymiński had this to say about Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts:

“We were too ambitious in terms of the scope of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, but we’ve learned from our missteps. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts will be more focused on emergent gameplay with an open-ended mission design that the team feels strong about, but it will not be set in an open world. It is going to be a more tactical, more condensed experience and the game will offer plenty of replayability, both on the single player campaign and on the multiplayer modes.”

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One in 2019.

inXile Entertainment Announces The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep Wishlist Initiative

inXile Entertainment Announces The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep Wishlist Initiative

This initiative takes crowdsourcing in a bold new direction, empowering gamers for the first time to band together, set the game’s price point as low as $29.95, and unlock free DLC

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.Aug. 16, 2018 – inXile Entertainment, the studio led by Interplay founder and industry icon Brian Fargo, is proud to announce The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep Wishlist Initiative, an evolution in the relationship between an indie developer and its fanbase. In a project that is the first of its kind, gamers who wishlist The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep on either the game’s Steam or GOG.com pages add to an overall counter that unlocks bonuses which reward all purchasers of the game now and in the future.

At 100k wishlisters, inXile will partner with Red Hook Studios to provide an in-game version of the iconic torch from Darkest Dungeon. According to Red Hook Studios Co-founder Tyler Sigman, “Darkest Dungeon has its roots in classics like The Bard’s Tale, so to be a small part of helping to bring the series back is a real treat for us as fellow game devs and especially as fans.”

At 300k wishlisters, the retail price will drop from $39.95/£29.99 to $34.95/£27.99.

At 500k wishlisters, two amazing tiers will unlock: first, the retail price will drop to $29.95/£24.99, knocking a full $10 off the original price. Secondly, a free DLC will be created and released for all game owners called “The Haernhold,” which finds characters adventuring in the dwarven realm of Kinestria.

In “The Haernhold” DLC, players gain the opportunity to travel beyond Caith to another dimension – Kinestria, realm of the Dwarves. Therein lies the Haernhold, home of Daeglish, one of the characters that can join the player’s party in the main game. All is not well – the tomb of a Dwarven king has been defiled, and only the heroes from Skara Brae have the power to face the darkness that has been unleashed. The only portal to Kinestria resides in Fort Garendon, and it is there where the player’s cross-realm odyssey will begin.

In 2012, inXile was in the vanguard of proving that crowdsourcing was a viable alternative for indie developers to pursue their dream projects. inXile then introduced the Kicking It Forward program, which created a pattern where successful indie devs could help others fund their own projects. Brian Fargo then joined the Advisory Board of Fig, which brought the power of investment to crowdfunding. Now, with this Wishlist Initiative, inXile is inviting their fans and RPG fans to take part in this collective effort to bring crowdsourcing to sales platforms.

According to inXile CEO Brian Fargo, “Crowdfunding opens up so many possibilities because it allows us to pursue ideas that we might not otherwise and to take creative risks. Our backers helped us get The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep made, and now we’re hoping that all our fans can help us spread the word about it, and in doing so, unlock rewards for themselves and help make the game that much more accessible for the wider gaming audience out there. Putting a game on your wishlist costs nothing, yet can mean everything to an indie studio like us. With this initiative, we’re hoping to have it mean something extra for our fans, too.”

The Bard’s Tale IV: Barrows Deep will launch on Windows PC on Sept. 18, 2018. It is expected to arrive later this year on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, Mac and Linux. Weekly updates on the Wishlist Initiative will be provided on the company’s social media accounts: https://www.facebook.com/TheBardsTale and https://twitter.com/Inxile_Ent

Narrative Sci-Fi Puzzler Destination Primus Vita – Episode 1: Austin Now Available on PC and Mac

Narrative Sci-Fi Puzzler Destination Primus Vita – Episode 1: Austin Now Available on PC and Mac

MONTREAL, Canada – Aug. 16, 2018 – Destination Primus Vita, the episodic first-person space puzzler adventure crafted by Epsilon Games, a studio consisting of a former Ubisoft executive producer and lead character artist, and published by Green Man Gaming, introduces its first episode today on PC and Mac. The game will release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the coming months.

In 3044, Crew 121 takes off to Primus Vita to reclaim Earth’s lost water centuries after the aliens known as “The Shatters” stole it. Each member of the six-person crew has a role to play, whether it be a scientist, military operator, or communication expert.

NIM, the A.I. of the interstellar ship Beaufort, designs dreamscapes for each crew member while in cryo-sleep to preserve their mental acuity before the showdown with The Shatters on Primus Vita. These mental reconstructions pull from their personal histories between the crew and integrate tests and puzzles designed to strengthen both their logical and emotional intelligence. Dialogue choices affect the interpersonal relationships of the crew and reveal hidden truths.

Each of Destination Primus Vita’s six episodes unfolds from a different character’s perspective, though each person’s story is intertwined in different ways. Austin Blair, a quantum physicist working to find a way to confront the Shatters, serves as the protagonist of the first episode. Though she never wanted to join this mission, she feels protective of her younger brother, Coby, Crew 121’s lieutenant. Will her fierce sense of familial responsibility be her undoing, or her greatest strength?

“This episode is just the start of our star-spanning sci-fi saga,” says Anne Gibeault, Epsilon Games Creative Lead and author of the tie-in comic. “We’re ready to share this universe with our players and hope they empathize with the threats Crew 121 faces, whether external and alien, or internal and very human.”

Destination Primus Vita – Episode 1: Austin is now available on PC and Mac in English, French, German, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Russian from Green Man Gaming, Steam and other leading retailers. The “Come into Play” comic, “I’ll soon meet with you” comic, and Episode 1: Austin soundtrack can be purchased separately. The Deluxe Edition containing all of these items at a 10% discount is also available for purchase.

PRAGUE, August 16, 2018 – 1C Company, a global PC and console games publisher, today announced it has launched the turn-based tactical RPG, Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark, for PC via Steam Early Access. The isometric, story-driven RPG, which is scheduled for a full launch on PC, PlayStation®4, and Xbox One in Spring 2019, blends influences from strategy RPG classics with a modern eye for ways to enhance the experience. The game will be presented at gamescom 2018 in the 1C booth following its Early Access release. The goal of the Early Access campaign is to gather player feedback while further honing the gameplay toward the game’s full, multi-platform launch.

“Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark invites players to experience the classic era of tactical RPGs, but with new twists that update the gameplay for the modern age,” said Nikolay Baryshnikov, VP of 1C Company. “The team at 6 Eyes Studio has a strong vision fueled by a love of the genre, and the game unveils an epic story with challenging tactical combat and lovely visuals for RPG fans to enjoy.”

Fell Seal: Arbiter’s Mark is a story-driven, turn-based tactical RPG set in a fantasy world with a touch of steampunk. But as one Arbiter uncovers deepening corruption pervading her own order, it falls to her to halt the spread of a new and dire threat. Throughout this storyline, players will progress through hand-crafted scenarios, controlling their own group of Arbiters, with each character customizable from a wide selection of 20 classes and over 200 abilities.

  • Epic Storyline: Unfolding over 40 story encounters and culminating in challenging end-game content

KOALA DICKS AND MISSING LORIKEETS APLENTY IN CONVICT GAMES’ DEBUT ‘STONER HIP-HOP NOIR’ GAME STONE

KOALA DICKS AND MISSING LORIKEETS APLENTY IN CONVICT GAMES’ DEBUT ‘STONER HIP-HOP NOIR’ GAME STONE

STONE follows the story of a slacker private investigator and his hazy quest to find his lost love Alex

Helsinki, and Melbourne, AU – Aug. 16, 2018 – World, it’s time to meet STONE.  He’s a koala.  He’s a dick.  He’s hungover.  And he’s coming to Steam for PC and MacOS later this fall.

STONE is a Hip-hop Stoner Noir Adventure Game that follows a gruff, loveable, fat koala private investigator as he pieces together his fragmented memory of the debaucherous night before. As if his morning couldn’t get any more stressful, Stone receives an ominous call threatening to upheave his entire life, just as he realizes his “chookie” Alex, a lorikeet raver and artist, is nowhere to be found.

STONE unfolds as an interactive adventure game story featuring an eccentric cast of anthropomorphic characters and absolutely no frustratingly flow-killing esoteric puzzles. As Stone stumbles through Oldtown, a place teeming with bars, clubs, theaters and more, players can take a “Hard-Ass” or “Soft Touch” approach while interrogating a menagerie of talking animals with bad attitudes and a deep repertoire of Australian slang as he tries to understand what the fuck happened last night.

“Leaving a stable AAA job in pursuit of my dream project STONE certainly wasn’t easy, nor has it become any easier, but knowing our small team at Convict Games faces almost no artistic restrictions is worth it – we have no obligations, no stakeholders, just the freedom to create whatever we want,” said writer, director and Chief Convict Greg Louden of Convict Games. “STONE is the interactive story I’ve always wanted to tell and play. I wrote, direct, programmed and produced the entire project, and it feels incredibly liberating to break free from publisher restraints and to release STONE completely independently.”

Convict Games is a new Australia-based remote video game studio operated by a team of highly experienced developers who previously worked on major entertainment projects including Remedy’s Quantum Break and Control, as well as feature films such as Gravity, World War Z, Prometheus and more. The studio is led by Gregory Louden, an Australian writer and director living in Finland who is so committed to STONE that he created and funded his own company after no other publishers would take a risk on his project.

Players can give Stone a much-needed break during his journey by engaging with side activities including dancing to brick-in-a-washing machine techno, drinking beer or cocktails, making beats, taking a smoke break and even watching real and full-length public domain classic films such as Night of the Living Dead and Haxan: Witchcraft Through the Ages.

STONE may not be for everyone, but we hope it’s wild, artistic nature, and Australian influences resonate with those craving a narrative unafraid to ‘go there,’” said Louden.  “We’ve been working on STONE for nearly two years, tapping into the influential works of counterculture icons including Charles Bukowski, Hunter S. Thompson and Thomas Pynchon, classic stoner noir films such as The Big Lebowski and Inherent Vice, and other narrative-driven games including Firewatch and Grim Fandango.”

Music is also a huge inspiration for the Convict Games team, and STONE’s heavily-curated soundtrack features licensed tracks from several upcoming indie artists around the world. Each song was chosen to reflect the myriad moods in STONE’s story and explores diverse genres such as hip-hop, stoner metal, house and more.

KONGREGATE SIGNS FLOTSAM, A HAPPY-GO-LUCKY POST-APOCALYPTIC SURVIVAL PC GAME

KONGREGATE SIGNS FLOTSAM, A HAPPY-GO-LUCKY POST-APOCALYPTIC SURVIVAL PC GAME

Kongregate’s latest announced title is a must sea…

San Francisco (Aug 16th, 2018) – Kongregate, a leading publisher of PC, console, mobile, and web games, has partnered with Pajama Llama Games to announce Flotsam, the feel-good post-apocalyptic garbage-town builder! Flotsam will enter Steam Early Access early 2019 and will be available for both PC and Mac platforms, and will be playable at Gamescom 2018 in the Indie Arena Booth in Hall 10.1.

The survival-based town builder is set in a waterlogged world and features moving towns, procedural world generation, and an eclectic group of survivors. Players will manage a floating village community as it sails across an endless ocean. In their fight to survive, they’ll depend on recycled garbage and scrap, used to construct structures that catch fish and create drinkable water. On their journey, they’ll encounter other stranded strangers, dangerous sea animals, and mysterious ruins and wreckages.

Flotsam is a really fun project; the game’s vibrant atmosphere brings a lot of character and personality to the often-grim survival genre,” said Kongregate’s Director of Production Kevin DuPuy. “From building food trucks in your floating garbage town to everyone’s favorite character ‘Steven’ the seagull, Pajama Llama has somehow made a post-apocalyptic, fight for survival setting that is both colorful and inviting.”

As players steer their town and explore the sprawling, dynamic environment, they‘ll uncover tall ruins, underwater cities, and reefs full of sea life and garbage. They’ll have to choose which obstacles to avoid and which to scavenge as they drift through the harsh ocean world. Players will rescue and care for drifters, who transform garbage, driftwood, and flotsam into boats and buildings, allowing them to collect rainwater, hunt for various creatures, and reel up scrap from the expansive sea floor.

Flotsam’s theme originated from an animation project. One of our founders created a short about people living in a flooded world. We took this spark and threw it into a prototype, which eventually grew to become Flotsam,” said Juda-Ben Gordier, co-founder at Pajama Llama. “We fell in love with the combination of the setting and gameplay. We all had an urge to create the game, so we did.”
