Tripwire Interactive Partners with Epic Games to Release Maneater on Epic Games Store

Tripwire Interactive Partners with Epic Games to Release Maneater on Epic Games Store

Highly Anticipated Action-RPG where Players Take on the Role of a Shark Set to Debut on Epic Games Store for PC

ROSWELL, Ga. — Tuesday, December 11, 2018 – Following the initial announcement at The Game Awards show in Los Angeles, California, Tripwire Interactive is proud to share further details on its strategic partnership with Epic Games to bring Maneater, the highly anticipated action-RPG where you play as a shark, to PC in 2019 via the newly revealed Epic Games store. For the PC, Maneater will debut on the Epic Games store and release on other PC platforms 12 months later. Last week’s exciting announcement for Maneater is a natural next step, following a rich shared history and relationship between Epic Games and Tripwire Interactive.

“From getting our start winning the first Epic Make Something Unreal modding contest in 2004 to having our game Maneater selected by Epic for the inaugural group of games to come to the new Epic Games store, Tripwire is excited to once again join Epic in forging this next chapter of gaming history,” said John Gibson, CEO at Tripwire Interactive. “Epic are doing something unheard of for digital distribution platforms – they are taking risks by putting money back into the independent development ecosystem via funding some games. This allows developers to take bigger chances and make better games than they would be able to otherwise. That’s a win for everyone.”

First revealed at E3 2018 and initially announced as a published title, Maneater, the open world single player action-RPG where players take on the role of a shark, will now be developed in-house by Tripwire Interactive in collaboration with creative leads at Blindside Interactive. Tripwire Interactive has high expectations for Maneater and its potential to lead the popular action-RPG genre into uncharted waters, and will be devoting extra resources to assist with development.

“We’re also thrilled to announce that Tripwire is once again working with Alex Quick to put the full force of Tripwire’s development team behind bringing one of his game concepts to players, this time in collaboration with his new studio Blindside Interactive,” said John Gibson, CEO at Tripwire Interactive. “In 2008 Tripwire worked with Alex to bring the highly successful game Killing Floor to players, and are set to do that once again with Maneater.”

Set in the unforgiving waters of the southern US Gulf Coast, Maneater finds players fighting to survive in rivers and streams as well as the open ocean, with danger lurking at every depth. Their only tools are their wits, their jaws, and an uncanny ability to evolve as they feed. Anything and everything is on the menu… kill or be killed. In this tale of revenge, players can take on the role of an ever-evolving shark and terrorize the coastal waterways, tearing swimmers and divers limb from limb, giving the humans a reason to fear what lies below. Immersed in a living, breathing world full of threats and rewards, players will have a vast world to explore sunken wrecks, lurk in swamps, or cruise the open ocean looking for their next unsuspecting meal. As your shark evolves customize your maneater to fit YOUR play style. Eat, Grow, Evolve.

For more information on Maneater, please visit the official website and follow the development team on Facebook and Twitter @Maneater for the latest updates.

ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove! Funks Up Earth March 1

ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove! Funks Up Earth March 1

Jamming Out on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – December 4, 2018 – ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove!, the upcoming fourth entry of the beloved, funkadelic action roguelike series from HumaNature Studios, helmed by original co-creator Greg Johnson, puts the “fun” in funky on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Friday, March 1.

The iconic ‘90s alien duo is back. ToeJam and Earl, hoping to impress Latisha and Lewanda, have…”borrowed” the Rapmaster Rocket. One black hole-related accident later, they are back on the floating remnants of Earth, scrambling to pick up the pieces of their ship before their home planet of Funkotron notices anything missing.

Hidden throughout the procedurally-generated levels are presents with random effects that help the duo find their ship parts. Rocket skates, Icarus Wings, Boomboxes and more than 60 other presents make each run feel fresh. Characters and unlockable hats that offer awesome hidden powers persist across playthroughs so there’s more to strive for beyond getting back home.

You would think a three-legged alien in dope threads would be the weirdest thing on the planet, but Earthlings give ToeJam and Earl a run for their money. Sneak around humans like the Hula-Girl so you don’t get hypnotized into shaking your hips, leaving you vulnerable to attacks. Over 50 Earthlings ranging from King Tut, armies of chickens and Internet Trolls roam around each level, so get to know which are friends and which are foe.

Back in the Groove’s got all the classic moments which made the series a staple of ‘90s gaming with modern improvements like online play, all in a nostalgic underground comic style.

Up to four friends can play together through online multiplayer and choose from nine characters — some blasts-from-the-past, some new and funky fresh. Each character has their own stats and special abilities. Console players can enjoy couch co-op with two players total, while PC will enable local co-op accommodating four players.

Minigames keep ToeJam and Earl on their toes. The side-scrolling HyperFunk Zone from Panic on Funkotron is back so players can earn extra presents and cash. Feeling the beat? Jump into a rhythm-based dance-off. Get ready to jam out with your homies to more than 30 groovy tunes, including classic remixes from the original games.

ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove! is what I’ve been wanting to do for the series for over 20 years,” said Greg Johnson, founder of HumaNature Studios. “We’ve included pretty much all of the original “old skool” characters and presents, and we have a TRUCKLOAD of new surprises, many of them fan-inspired. I think we’ve captured the spirit of the original game, as well as a lot of what people loved about game two. I think this is what our fans have been waiting for. I can’t wait to see what they think!”

ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove! will be available in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Latin America), and Brazilian Portuguese for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC for $19.99 USD on March 1.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Wildlands PAYS HOMAGE TO TOM CLANCY’S GHOST RECON FUTURE SOLDIER® IN A TWO-PART SPECIAL MISSION

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Wildlands PAYS HOMAGE TO TOM CLANCY’S GHOST RECON FUTURE SOLDIER® IN A TWO-PART SPECIAL MISSION

Experience the Expansive Universe of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon in this Unique Event Starting December 11

SYDNEY, Australia — December 11, 2018 — Today, Ubisoft announced that Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Wildlands will introduce a free Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Future Soldier®–themed special mission featuring iconic characters Scott Mitchell and John Kozak as part of Special Operation 3. In this third major update of Year 2 content, players will be able to team up with Mitchell and Kozak for this free two-part special crossover event starting tomorrow, December 12, on all platforms.

Exclusive Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Future Soldier–themed content will be introduced to the Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Wildlands main campaign and PvP mode, including two new Future Soldier–inspired Ghost War PvP classes and a PvE mission, Operation Silent Spade. In Operation Silent Spade, Ghost Leader Scott Mitchell calls on Nomad and his team to help rookie John Kozak investigate a plot that links the Santa Blanca Cartel to a nuclear threat. The special challenge is playable solo or with up to four players in co-op.

Upon completing Operation Silent Spade, players will be rewarded with the Optical Camo Backpack, perfect for a stealth approach. In addition to the rewards for completing the challenge, players can further customise and arm their Ghosts with the Silent Spade Pack, which include a weapon and new customisation items.

Special Operation 3 will also bring two new Ghost War PvP classes, Vanguard and Sharpshooter, inspired by Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Future Soldier characters. Vanguard uses sensor grenades to uncover and highlight hidden enemies in the area of effect to his team, while Sharpshooter charges his shots by using his Long Range Specialist ability, which at a full charge enables him to negate the effects of sway and bullet drop. In addition to two new classes, this update will also contain two new PvP maps, Lithium Mine and Outskirts.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Wildlands Year 2 Pass offers seven-day early access to the two new Ghost War classes starting December 12, along with one exclusive customisation pack. Non-owners of the Year 2 Pass will be able to access the new Ghost War classes starting December 19.

PC players wanting to share the experience with friends can gain Battle Crate rewards including Spec Ops and Ghost War Crates, via the PC Referral Program from December 12 – February 12, 2019. Invited friends who purchase the game will also receive Battle Crate rewards, including one Ghost War Crate and One Spec Ops Crate. The more friends players invite, the more rewards they will receive.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands Year 2 will continue to expand the Ghost Recon universe with free major Special Operation updates, each featuring a unique theme, updates to the PvE campaign with free special content and special challenges with exclusive rewards, community-requested features and updates for the Ghost War 4v4 PvP experience. The development team is committed to supporting the game with free new content and improvements to the core experience.

Developed by Ubisoft Paris,* Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is a military shooter entirely playable in up to four-player co-op or single-player from beginning to end. Players have total freedom to accomplish their missions how they want and watch as the world reacts to their actions. Players can choose to move quietly in the night, go in hot at dawn or work together to execute a sync shot that takes out enemies in one fell swoop. Each choice has a consequence, and players must improvise or adapt their plans to ensure the completion and success of each mission. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands Ghost War allows players to live the ultimate co-op experience in 4v4 modes. Featuring a growing roster of classes, maps and modes, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands Ghost War focuses on teamwork, strategy and tense tactical engagements.

About Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon
Launched in 2001 with critical acclaim from fans of the Tom Clancy’s world, the Ghost Recon franchise has since convinced 30 million players thanks to breakthrough releases and has become the best-selling Tom Clancy’s brand on the last generation of consoles and PC. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands brings the franchise to the next level with an episode designed from the ground up for a new generation, featuring a massive and visually stunning open world, playable for the first time online in four-player co-op.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is a work of fiction. Like similar Tom Clancy’s games from Ubisoft, the game takes place in a modern universe inspired by reality, but the characters, locations and stories are created solely for entertainment purposes. One of the reasons Bolivia was chosen as the background of this game was due to its magnificent landscapes and rich culture. While the game’s premise imagines a different reality than the one that exists in Bolivia today, we do hope that the in-game world comes close to representing the country’s beautiful topography, and that players enjoy exploring the diverse and open landscapes it moved us to create. Any resemblance to actual events or any real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

SMG Studio Unpacks Chaotic Cooperative Moving Simulator

SMG Studio Unpacks Chaotic Cooperative Moving Simulator

Moving Out Scheduled for Q2 2019 Delivery on PC, Consoles

SYDNEY, NSW – Dec. 10, 2018 – Moving Out, the chaotic ‘80s-themed co-op moving simulator from SMG Studio, has booked a Q2 2019 delivery for the latest home-entertainment platforms.

It’s orientation day at the Smooth Move company. To become certified Furniture Arrangement & Relocation Technician (F.A.R.T), employees need to pop the training tape into the VCR and take in the dos and don’ts of moving furniture. Guided by narrator Mick “RicePirate” Lauer, players will learn the ropes in a series of increasingly precarious and fantastical instructional lessons. These span everything from unloading cargo off moving planes to smuggling giraffes out of the zoo and transporting goods to strange locales like haunted houses and outer space.

No matter what the job entails, customers appreciate prompt delivery. So, whether on a heist or doing a repo job, load as much into the truck as possible before zooming off to the next gig. How freight gets from one place to another is entirely up to players, though, so toss the manual out the window and get creative. Break down the walls, throw things, and use technology like portals and ray guns across more than 50 levels. Anything goes, as long as the work gets done!

Enjoy the game solo as an independent contractor or team up with a friend or loved one. Moving Out features both local and online play across its arcade, story, and versus modes. Each level also adjusts the experience dynamically to account for the number of players on screen, thereby welcoming Smooth Move employees of all ages and skill levels.

Moving Out offers a wonderfully weird take on the world of movers,” said Ash Ringrose, founder, SMG Studio. “We’re creating a wacky, irreverent co-op experience that allows players to tackle problems how they see fit in a lighthearted sandbox. Expect a dash of dark humor also!”

Moving Out is currently in development as the premiere title from SMG’s Melbourne studio and is made in collaboration with Stockholm-based developer Devm Games.

For more information, please visit the official Moving Out website, and follow SMG Studio on Twitter and Facebook.

YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG Spreads Conspiracy Theories on Switch, PlayStation 4, Steam on 17 Jan. 2019

YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG Spreads Conspiracy Theories on Switch, PlayStation 4, Steam on 17 Jan. 2019

PS Vita Joins the Discussion in 2019

SINGAPORE – 11 Dec. 2018 – As revealed Saturday, Dec. 8 in the Kinda Funny Games Showcase, YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG, the surreal Japanese-style RPG set at the end of last millennium from Ysbryd Games and Ackk Studios, arrives on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PC and Mac on 17 Jan. 2019. A PS Vita version will follow down the rabbit hole later in 2019.

After witnessing a woman vanish from an elevator, college graduate Alex embarks on an adventure to rescue her, which spirals into an epic quest with stakes higher than he could have ever imagined. Alex’s search for the woman and the truth behind her disappearance lead him and his companions on a journey rife with mystery and danger.

Traverse dungeons littered with puzzles, traps and bizarre monsters with a party whose members can be swapped out mid-battle on the fly in a combat system that blends twitchy minigames with turn-based combat. Brandish records, cameras, musical instruments and more against enemies ranging from floating, yammering skulls to tortoise samurais.

YIIK has more than 30 hours of content including a fully-voiced main story campaign featuring talents such as Chris Niosi (Tales of Zestiria, Disgaea 5), Clifford Chapin (Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Attack on Titan, RWBY) and more.

Polygonal rendering, lack of textures and a rich, saturated color scheme lend to the dreamlike, otherworldly qualities of the environments and their inhabitants. The soundtrack – including contributions from composers such as Toby Fox (Undertale) and Hiroki Kikuta (Secret of Mana) – is as eclectic as the gameplay, featuring an electroacoustic fusion of jazz, funk, traditional JRPG-style tunes and swing.

YIIK is an unusual mix of almost hallucinatory imagery and cross-genre gameplay,” said Andrew Allanson, founder and co-director, Ackk Studios. “These elements will draw the player deep into a bizarre, dreamlike world as Alex pursues his quest for answers. But what truths will he discover? How many layers does the onion have?”

YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Steam for $19.99 and support English and Japanese. The Steam version will also support Simplified Chinese at launch. Interested gamers can wishlist YIIK on the Steam store page.

For more information, please visit the YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG official website or follow @YsbrydGames and @ackkstudios on Twitter.

RTS Conan Unconquered Announced

The Conan franchise will be getting its first RTS in Q2 2019. Conan Unconquered will launch on PC via Steam. As part of the announcement, a cinematic trailer has been released.

Developed by Command & Conquer veterans at Petroglyph and published by Funcom, Conan Unconquered challenges players to build a stronghold and survive against the hordes of Hyboria. The game will offer a variety of units, from the humble foot soldier to mighty legendary heroes. Human enemies and monsters are not the only danger though, as environmental hazards like disease can just as easily wipe out the stronghold.

While the game is designed for two player co-op, Conan Unconquered also supports singleplayer. The game’s lore will be inspired by the Black Colossus story, but it does not appear that Conan Unconquered will be part of the franchise’s canon.

Twisted Cyberpunk First-Person Shooter 2084 Announced for PC

Twisted Cyberpunk First-Person Shooter 2084 Announced for PC

What are the absolute depths of human misery, and how hard will you fight to survive?

Krakow, Poland — December 10, 2018 — Descend into the dark world of cyberpunk dystopia this month, as Feardemic today announced that 2084, its FPS with hacking mechanics is coming to Steam Early Access on December 13th. The result of a 72-hour internal game jam involving some of the developers behind >observer_ and Layers of Fear, 2084 casts players into a horrific post-apocalyptic labyrinth full of deadly hostiles. In order to eliminate their adversaries and, ultimately, escape, players must utilise an array of computer hacking commands on the fly while engaging in the the game’s deep, satisfying combat. Expect eerie plot twists and techno-thrills when 2084 launches on Steam Early Access with its full commercial launch expected in 2020.

We’re amazed at what the team has put together in just 72 hours. 2084 has a really polished look, is fun to play and will certainly please fans of cyberpunk and shooters in general,” said Marcin Kawa, CEO of Feardemic. “After checking out the final build we decided that the game deserves to be shared with players. It’s a super fast-paced shooter with a hacking twist. We really can’t wait to hear what people think about the game!

2084 is an intense first-person shooter where player success is dependent on their skill as a hacker as much as a marksman. Only by hacking the network for perks such as ammunition and augmented health stats will players stand any change of escaping the mysterious cyberpunk chamber while under the constant deluge of mindless, murderous creatures. The Early Access version will include two game modes: a story mode where players must kill enemies and level bosses before facing off against the game’s final, most challenging adversary, and then an endless mode where gamers face wave after wave of enemies, killing everything in sight to gain top ranking on the leaderboards.

The Witcher takes on a new contract in Monster Hunter: World crossover

CD PROJEKT RED, creators of The Witcher series of games, together with Capcom, announce a special collaboration between The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Monster Hunter: World.

Watch the announcement trailer

The collaboration sees Monster Hunter: World players take on the mantle of Geralt of Rivia — a professional monster slayer equipped with superhuman strength and reflexes — and has them take on a series of Witcher-inspired quests. These offer a unique gameplay experience blending RPG mechanics of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with Monster Hunter: World’s game systems.

Geralt is a master swordsman considered one of the deadliest warriors in the world of The Witcher. Monster Hunter: World players get to utilize his signature fighting style, seamlessly blending swordplay, combat magic, and an assortment of monster hunting equipment.

Reprising his role as the White Wolf in the English version of Monster Hunter: World is Doug Cockle — the English voice of Geralt of Rivia throughout The Witcher series of games.

The Witcher-inspired content is coming to Monster Hunter: World on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in early 2019 as a free title update, with the PC release to follow soon. More details regarding the collaboration will be revealed at a later date.
