Kamala Khan Joins Marvel’s Avengers

Square Enix and Marvel have announced a new hero that will be added to Marvel’s Avengers and she just so happens to be Kamala Khan, whose super hero name is Ms Marvel. Kamala first debuted as the character in February 2014 and is described as a self-avowed Avengers fan, in the game’s original story, Kamala Khan must apply her intellect, optimism, and unique abilities to the task of unraveling a global conspiracy and reassembling her personal heroes in time to stop a new secretive organization, Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM), before they unleash one of the greatest threats Earth has ever faced.

Players begin the journey as Kamala Khan and learn the origins of her extraordinary powers. As the story expands, Kamala plays an essential role in bringing the disbanded Avengers back together. As each Super Hero is added to the roster, players must master all of their unique abilities, rebuild and customize the Avengers team to face increasingly growing threats only the Avengers together can defeat.

Marvel’s Avengers is currently set to be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia on May 15, 2020 and you can check out a new gameplay trailer for Kamala Khan as well as a character profile video below.

New Team RTS A Year Of Rain Set to Launch November 6th

Bombastic new gameplay trailer showcases the unique features and factions of Daedalic Entertainment’s upcoming strategy game

HAMBURG, Germany – Oct. 5, 2019: Publisher and developer Daedalic Entertainment has announced that the ambitious new team RTS A Year Of Rain will launch into Steam Early Access on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, worldwide.

The upcoming release was confirmed in a brand-new gameplay trailer, which showcases the game’s three unique factions and this new franchise’s epic fantasy action:

Daedalic has also revealed the first story details about the harsh and brutal world in which A Year Of Rain is set. Desolate environments offer limited resources, and any prize you do find, you’ll have to fight for. The battle for survival and the drums of war are all its people know. Two friends, a paladin of the morning sun and the son of a powerful noble house, set out to break the cycle and bring peace to these war-torn lands. A Year Of Rain tells their story and the sacrifices they must make for a better future against those who do not share their vision of civilization and those chained to unlife, doomed to fight forever.

Combining classic real-time strategy elements with a strong focus on teamplay and hero units, A Year Of Rain’s co-op campaigns and online and offline modes are designed with a team of two players in mind. The classic 2v2 “Skirmish” mode has been developed from the very beginning to encourage competition across the entire spectrum of skill levels. Meanwhile, the ‘Against All Odds’ mode is an innovation in the genre, where two lone heroes face two entire armies in an escalating fight for survival.

MS. MARVEL JOINS MARVEL’S AVENGERS

MS. MARVEL JOINS MARVEL’S AVENGERS

Marvel’s rising star Kamala Khan sets out to expose AIM and reassemble the Avengers

SYDNEY, 5th October 2019 – Today at New York Comic Con 2019, Square Enix® and Crystal Dynamics® revealed that fan-favourite Kamala Khan is the latest playable Super Hero to be featured in Marvel’s Avengers. Co-created by G. Willow Wilson, Adrian Alphona, Sana Amanat, and Stephen Wacker, in the comics, Kamala is an enthusiastic teenager who defends her hometown Jersey City as the costumed Ms. Marvel. First appearing in Captain Marvel #14 in August 2013, Kamala quickly captured the imagination of generations of True Believers, leading to her own monthly comic series in February 2014.

A self-avowed Avengers fan, in the game’s original story, Kamala Khan must apply her intellect, optimism, and unique abilities to the task of unravelling a global conspiracy and reassembling her personal heroes in time to stop a new secretive organization, Advanced Idea Mechanics (AIM), before they unleash one of the greatest threats Earth has ever faced.

Players first encounter a young Kamala during A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Kamala is exposed to the mysterious Terrigen Mist, and finds herself developing extraordinary polymorphic powers, which she subsequently hides for years. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, Kamala uncovers a shocking conspiracy and embarks on a quest to reassemble the heroes she believes in and to become the hero she was destined to be.

“An optimistic fan girl of the Avengers, Kamala Khan is the perfect character for the story we’re telling in Marvel’s Avengers,” said Shaun Escayg, Creative Director and Writer at Crystal Dynamics. “Telling our story of Kamala’s coming-of-age brings a fresh, hopeful perspective to the gameplay experience and her unique abilities as Ms. Marvel make her a character every person can relate to and will want to play. Kamala Khan is one of the unique characters that makes our game stand apart from any Avengers story experienced before.”

“Kamala is an inspired and perfectly fitting choice to join the ranks of, and reassemble, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes,” said Bill Rosemann, VP of Creative at Marvel Games. “Perhaps more than any other character invented over the past decade, Ms. Marvel has not only charmed the hearts of long-time True Believers, but her unique mix of classic Marvel heroic elements and modern cultural relevancy has resulted in a headline-generating cultural icon.”

“It is a thrill to see Kamala in the Marvel’s Avengers game,” said Sana Amanat, VP of Content and Character Development at Marvel. “Crystal Dynamics has done a marvellous job of crafting a brand-new take on Kamala, while staying true to the spirit of her inspiring character, charismatic persona, and relatable purpose. Fans of the character are in for quite a ride, along with a few surprises, when Marvel’s Avengers makes its debut next year.”

“I think Kamala is a perfect fit for a game like this, since she sees the Marvel world the same way we do as fans and players,” said G. Willow Wilson, co-creator of Ms. Marvel. “Kamala allows us to imagine what we ourselves would do if we suddenly discovered we had superpowers and got to stand alongside our heroes in their time of greatest need.”

Marvel’s Avengers will release simultaneously for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X, Stadia, and PC on May 15, 2020.

Overview

There are not many forms of art that get a successful switch from one media to another. We all know that a streak of translating video games to the big screen has been less than stellar so far. There have been some hits when it comes to books on cinema but also a bunch of misses. “What about anime, though?” – asked absolutely no one. Well, my dear absolutely no one, do I have some good news for you! Actually, one piece of good news. You see, there is one cute game from far away Japan (or maybe not so far away if you live there, hm) that captured perfectly that anime spark and the gameplay is also nothing to complain about. In a strange twist of fate, I managed to play the sequel first and then the original (aka this remastered release) but that’s fine, cause they are fundamentally different games anyway. Read on, dear reader!

Story

We follow the journey of Oliver, a resident of Motorville. While trying out a new vehicle designed by his friend Philip, Oliver almost drowns, but is saved by his mother Allie; however, she immediately dies from heart problems after saving him. Damn, talk about an early plot twist. Devastated, Oliver starts to cry and the tears cause his doll (a gift from his mother) to come to life and reveals itself as a fairy named Drippy. Drippy tells Oliver that each person from his world has a “soulmate”, someone with who they share a link in Drippy’s world. Unfortunately, Drippy’s world has been conquered by an evil wizard called Shadar. Fearless and determined, Oliver decided to travel to Drippy’s world and find & save his mom soulmate, a great sage called Alicia. He hopes that in doing so, it might also bring back Allie in Oliver’s world. A strange plan to rely on but as they say, hope dies last.

Gameplay

If you played Ni No Kuni II first by any chance, here is a piece of advice: forget everything you know about that game. Not only that the stories are fundamentally different, but so is the gameplay. When a player encounters an enemy, they enter a real-time battle system. Battles take place in an open area, allowing the player (and the enemy/enemies) to freely roam the field. Pretty useful if you feel like evading or escaping from an enemy attack. To fight enemies, you use physical, magical attacks and something called “familiars”.Familiars are creatures that you can find and tame in the game world and send them to battles. Your own battle ally, if you will. Familiars level up and evolve along Oliver throughout battles, and each of them has unique attacks and stats. Not to mention unique cuteness. Once you defeat enemies in battle, you may receive experience, gold, and occasional items as loot. There is the usual health and mana bar and as you might imagine, health is lost when an enemy attacks you, while mana is depleted whenever you cast magic. Both can be replenished by using items during the battle while health can also be restored by picking up green orbs, known as “glims”. Glims are dropped when you continuously attack enemies and there is also something called golden glim. A rare drop during a battle that restores all health and enables as powerful miracle move that deals significant damage to enemies (super useful during boss fights).

Visuals

There is one world that you might read over and over when it comes to Ni No Kuni games. Ghibli-like, Ghibliesque, Ghibli inspired, Ghiblibling. Ok, that last one isn’t even a real word, I just made it up. But you (hopefully) get my point. You don’t have to be a powerful anime connoisseur to know what Ghibli studio stands for. A name depicting quality, integrity, and creativity when it comes to anime. And call me crazy, but the same could be said when it comes to Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered. The visuals are done in the expected cell shading style (aka Borderlands or XIII), while the important cutscenes in the game are fully animated. I mean like watching the regular anime. The quality of animated segments is top-notch while the actual gameplay visuals are nothing to skip over as well. Worlds map is full of details and even the meanest monsters could be described as nothing else but cute. The big cities are fun to explore and easy to get lost into. That last bit might sound like a minor flaw but it certainly isn’t. If anything, it only amplifies the sense of awe and wonders whenever you enter a new town for the first time.

Audio

If I have given praise on the visual front, the audio angle would definitely use some polish. Especially considering that I’m playing the remastered version of the first Ni No Kuni. Major cutscenes will have a full voiceover in whatever language you prefer, while the rest of the dialogue will have occasional “ohhh”, hmmm” or “hi” sounds. A bit weird and not easy to get used to at first. If anything, it definitely took me out of the experience once I get spoiled with full voice acting in animated cutscenes. Other than that, the actual soundtrack is nothing short of amazing, thanks to Joe Hisashi. What the game lacks in voice acting, it surely makes up for it when it comes to the marvelous soundtrack.

Overall

And lastly, I have to mention the “remastered” bit of the whole game. While the game does feature slightly improved visuals in terms of world map details and performance and better resolution support, everything else stayed pretty much the same. Audio received no touch-ups at all. Call me crazy, but I expected more voice acting, at least during important moments in the game and not just in defining cutscenes. Despite that, Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered is a well-rounded release with loads of content. A slight improvement over the original and different experience altogether when compared to the sequel.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Finally Announced for PC

While Red Dead Redemption 2’s PC release was only a matter of time, PC gamers can finally breath a sigh of relief as Rockstar has officially announced the PC port. The game will appear on Rockstar Game Launcher, Epic Game Store, and several third party retailers on November 5th.

Oddly, the Steam version will be delayed until December. It is unknown if Rockstar and Epic Games has worked out a short term exclusivity deal, as Epic Game Store exclusives do not usually appear on official third party resellers like Humble Store. If there is an exclusivity deal, this is the shortest one to date, beating out Borderlands 3’s six month window by a few months.

Pre-orders kick off on October 9th at 11 AM EST on the Rockstar Game Launcher. Those who pre-order during this exclusivity period will also be able to pick two classic Rockstar titles to keep. Other platforms will begin offering pre-orders on October 22.

Red Dead Redemption 2’s PC version will launch with Red Dead Online right out of the gate. The PC version will also come with graphical enhancements to take advantage of more powerful gaming rigs and a variety of new content.

Rockstar also announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be a launch title for Stadia in November. No exact date for the Stadia release has been set, with more details promised soon.

Experience a complex dystopian story in this ambitious new adventure game featuring hacking, stealth and turn-based strategy

STOCKHOLM Oct. 4, 2019 — Indie studio Lionbite Games has released the story-driven tactics-adventure game Rain of Reflections on Windows PC via Steam for $18.99, available today for 10% off in celebration of launch. Throughout the journey, you’ll face tense turn-based strategy encounters with destructible elements and a range of tactical challenges, including stealth, dialogue, hacking and combat.

Rain of Reflections’ debut chapter – “Set Free” – follows Wilona, a scientist trying to cure a global epidemic of infertility in a future dystopian world. When Wilona begins to question the experiments she’s running on the planet’s lastborn child, she sets off a life-or-death quest that’ll take her through the pristine towers of the elite, the derelict slums of the underclass, and the sterile halls of the state’s labs.

Your dialogue choices can convince, defuse or outsmart other characters in fully voiced conversations, but they can also affect your friends and foes in combat, helping to change the tide of battle at a critical moment. The game’s unique motivation system means that Wilona’s relationships with characters impact how you can approach situations, allowing various paths to accomplish your goals, some more aggressive than others.

Rain of Reflections’ ambitious narrative will traverse multiple chapters, each a full story in itself showing completely new environments and gameplay from different perspectives. Chapter 2 – “Open Eye” – will follow a deadbeat private investigator in a cyberpunk district called The Cluster, while Chapter 3 – “Undercurrent” – will shed light on the underground resistance movement and its front figure, Imra.
