Lead a Major Space Agency as You Guide Humanity to Mars in Mars Horizon – Coming to PC, PS4, XB1 and NSX in 2020

Lead a Major Space Agency as You Guide Humanity to Mars in Mars HorizonComing to PC, PS4, XB1 and NSX in 2020

Publisher The Irregular Corporation launches a joint mission with Auroch Digital to publish Mars Horizon, beta scheduled for April 27th on PC, sign-ups now open

LONDON (April 23, 2020) — Rocket enthusiasts at developer Auroch Digital and space tourists at publisher The Irregular Corporation (PC Building Simulator, Balsa Model Flight Simulator) announced that the upcoming space agency management game, Mars Horizon, will launch on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch later this year with a beta planned for April 27th on Steam.

A new trailer released today shows off several elements of the game play – including what can go wrong if you don’t succeed. Plan and build your mission control offices across brightly lit and easy to use tiles, harness design, upgrades and mission strategies via the game’s elegant user interface and achieve the ultimate goal of planting your flag on Mars

In Mars Horizon you take control of a major space agency, launching from the dawn of the space age in the 1950s, all the way through to landing humans on Mars in the near future. Guide your agency through the space race and write your alternate history of space exploration: any of the agencies can be the first to land on the Moon if you make the right choices.

Step into the shoes of a mission control flight director, manage the mission, and face the challenges as you plan your agency’s journey to the stars. In Mars Horizon, you’ll need to manage your agency’s resources and solve strategic challenges in turn-based missions in order to succeed. But beware: space is a very unforgiving environment.

These are the critical moment-to-moment decisions of mission control; do you spend power to fix a malfunctioning antenna or save it in case of an oxygen leak? Perhaps risking that extra three months of mission planning could have avoided this issue?

Manage the numerous challenges faced then and now:

●      Play as a variety of real space agencies or create your own and everything that goes with it: build your base with launch pads, research labs, astronaut training facilities, and of course, rockets

●      Construct your own custom launch vehicles from hundreds of combinations, and improve their reliability over launches and missions.

●      Plan missions and manage challenges: launch satellites and crewed spacecraft to explore the Solar System and create solutions to unforeseen problems that arise. Mars Horizon brings you all the excitement of real scenarios of space exploration and makes it accessible

●      Solve the various challenges of turn-based missions to earn scientific advancement and public support – the more support you gain, the larger your budget will become

●      Explore an extensive tech tree and either compete or collaborate with other agencies to plot your roadmap to Mars

●      Created using input from actual space agencies, Mars Horizon distils a passion for space exploration, international cooperation, and the goal of making humanity a multi-planetary species!

You’re in charge of every element of the journey into space: success rides on your decisions. Sign up for the beta here https://bit.ly/2VR2TWK and keep tabs on where space takes you on Twitter @AurochDigital and stay regular with The Irregular Corporation @IrregularCorp.

Minimal Affect is our homage to some of the greatest sci-fi RPGs, movies, and shows that we absolutely love,” said Rasmus Davidsson, Creative Director on Minimal Affect. “While the story is ridiculous, the gameplay certainly is not – this is a fully fledged action-RPG created in the art-style of adult animation you know and love. FULL THROTTLE FOR MotoGP™20 LAUNCH

FULL THROTTLE FOR MotoGP™20 LAUNCH

Cutting-edge gameplay, improved realism and enhanced AI: this is THE definitive MotoGP™ experience. Beyond. Together.

Sydney, Australia, April 23rd, 2020. Milestone are delighted to announce the release of MotoGP™20 on PlayStation®4, Xbox One, Windows PC®/STEAM, Google Stadia and Nintendo Switch™* today.

With MotoGP™20, players can participate in the 2020 season, racing against MotoGP™ champions, or jump into the boots of a young rider, working your way up from the Moto3™** to reach the topflight.

And – for the first time in the franchise’s history – the game is releasing almost two months earlier from its traditional release date, enabling players to enjoy the new season sooner than ever.

Building on last year’s critically acclaimed edition, MotoGP™20 boasts a range of new features resulting in an even better strategic and realistic game. This is the pure MotoGP™ experience, from box to the track!

A GREATER GAMEPLAY DEPTH WITH THE NEW MANAGERIAL CAREER

The new Career Mode will put players into a pro riders’ boots, with an engaging and progressive gaming experience both on and off the track. Just like in the real MotoGP™ simply being fast on the circuit is not enough; players will need to take the best decisions to find a winning strategy to master the Championship.

Echoing real life, one of the key figures at the top of the team is the personal manager, whose work can truly make a difference when it comes to sponsorship and contract opportunities. If players select a new team, they will be able to make their rider and bike stand out using different graphic editors to modify the helmet, racing number, lower-back patch, stickers and bike livery. When it comes to being fast on track, it is the players’ choice of technical staff that influences the performance of the bike; the most skilled technicians will be able to develop bikes better and faster, but of course they will be much more expensive than others. How do you find the right balance between budget and performance? It’s up to players! On-track tests during the weekend will provide valuable data for development, but the synergy between the engineers will determine how much of this knowledge can be actually used to craft new parts. Each engineer will have different skills in different areas so teamwork will be key.

Taking part in the winter and mid-season tests enables players to develop their bike, choosing up to 3 different packs with various engines and frame combinations to find the perfect settings for the season. Once the season starts, players can also improve performances of different bike parts, earning and spending development points and allocating their R&D staff to reach the highest level. Aerodynamics, electronics, engine power and fuel consumption are just an example of the many technical parts that players can now manage to improve their bikes. For the first time, Milestone also announces brand-new features that will support the game after launch, that will further expand contents of the Managerial Career gameplay; more details about the post launch features will be revealed soon.

A STEP FORWARD IN SIMULATION

The development team worked really hard to make the gameplay much more strategic and realistic, with brand new features boosting realism such as fuel management, asymmetrical tires’ consumptionand, last but not least, for the first time in franchise history, aerodynamic damages that will impact bike’s aesthetic and performances. As in real life, tires stress and wear don’t apply on both sides and middle equally. MotoGP™20 will implement these three areas separately and it will reproduce some real-world dynamics down to the smallest details. In each race players will be able to decide the quantity of fuel and which type of tire to use, always keeping in mind that bike physics are affected by their decisions. The overall level of simulation marks a big step forward in MotoGP™20; modern MotoGP™ bikes have very complex aerodynamic winglets that when damaged change the bikes’ balance significantly. Crashing or colliding with other riders in game, may have a permanent effect on bike handling just like in a real race. Continuously looking for extreme realism, the game physics has been completely re-worked to make gameplay more technical and skill based.

Many of the features that made the success of the previous chapter of the franchise, return this year with a lot of improvements as a result of the precious feedback that Milestone received from its passionate community:

  • A renowned historical mode. One of the community’s favourite game modes will be back in a brand-new format, with full races randomly generated that players need to win to unlock and collect the most iconic riders and bikes.
  • Neural AI goes 2.0. What many thought was utopic, has become a reality. Last year A.N.N.A. (an acronym for Artificial Neural Network Agent) brought a more fast, natural and fair AI. This year Milestone developers further enhanced its capabilities, to allow her to strategically manage tire and fuel consumption, as real riders do.
  • New Editors. Together with Stickers, Helmets, Racing Numbers and Lower-back patches, in MotoGP™20 players will also be able to customize bikes’ liveries of their Custom Team, to race on track with a unique style.
  • The best online experience. Dedicated Servers for the Multiplayer mode have continued to enable a more reliable and fun online experience. Now we added quality of life improvements that will further enhance online gameplay in all modes: Public Matches, Private Matches and Race Director Mode.

After three successful editions, Dorna and Milestone also confirm this year’s MotoGP™ eSport Championship, where players come from all over the world, with the challenge to win the World Champion title. The fourth edition of the MotoGP™ eSport Championship has a renewed formula, for more information: https://esport.motogp.com

Video Review

Overview

Fort Triumph has finally left Steam Early Access after spending over two years in the program. The game bills itself as a mix of Heroes of Might and Magic’s open world exploration and XCOM’s turn based strategy.

Story

Fort Triumph offers a decent sized campaign following four heroes on their epic adventure. The story is filled with a lovable cast of oddballs. The dialogue is well written with a good bit of wit. The humour mostly parodies the fantasy genre with a few smart jabs at modern society and some absurd humour for good measure.

Gameplay

Fort Triumph offers a full campaign and a skirmish mode. Separate skirmish modes are available for singleplayer and local co-op. The campaign is composed of multiple skirmish maps with special combat events. Each skirmish map serves as a single act in the story. While the story follows four heroes, players can have multiple parties of up to five heroes each.

The game is split into two main phases, the overworld and combat. The overworld is modeled after Heroes of Might and Magic where each player takes turns moving their parties around the map. Each player is based out of a fort. The fort is where players will buy upgrades for both their kingdom and their entire roster of heroes. Forts can be taken over by opposing parties of heroes, so players do need to protect their base by stashing a few heroes in reserve.

Scattered around the map are treasure guarded by enemies, random events, forts, and resource generation nodes. One day is represented by one turn, and players are limited to a certain number of steps per turn. At the end of the week, the monsters grow in strength. The system works well for the most part except for the small number of wasted steps a party will take if they interact with an enemy battle event but later decide to back out.

Fort Triumph is light on stats and equipment. The only choice a player can make when a character levels up is to choose from a random selection of three skills or upgrade existing ones. Artifacts offer a decent stat bump but are rarely found. Heroes are only able to equip one artifact or one consumable item at the start, but additional slots can be purchased at the local fort.

Combat is turn based strategy in the spirit of XCOM. Fort Triumph emphasizes both direct damage and environmental damage. Objects and units can be pushed and pulled around, causing damage on impact. A majority of the cover in the game is affected by physics, making cover a risky proposition against enemies who also have physics based abilities. The difficulty is slightly higher than average as characters tend to be squishy. Additionally, death is permanent, so losing a hero can be devastating. The game is more forgiving when it comes to permadeath as patient players willing to replay a mission can restart the mission or load an autosave.

I found the gameplay to be enjoyable. The developers have hit just the right spot in terms of difficulty that emphasizes strategy without being unnecessarily punishing. There is a decent amount of variety in the enemy composition that will make players adjust their tactics to survive. The level up system is done well as certain skills are rare and characters can sometimes learn a skill from another class. When combined with the fact there only three randomly selected skills offered for each level up, the four classes in the game does not feel limited at all. The campaign does feel a little tacked onto the skirmish mode mechanically speaking since each act is just a new skirmish, but it is an enjoyable way to see all the content in a cohesive manner.

The controls are decent for the most part. The game can be played entirely with the mouse though keyboard controls for camera movement makes things easier. The developers do a very good job keeping the mouse consistent, with left click handling neutral or cancel functions and right click for executing character actions. Targeting enemies can be a little finnicky when large objects are nearby, as it is very easy to click on the wrong target. The game did not ship with the ability to modify key binds but the developers have promised the feature will be added in a future update.

Visuals

Fort Triumph offers an enjoyable visual presentation. The art style is cartoony with lots of exaggerated features and bold colours. There’re a few nods to Shrek in the character design that fits in well. On the technical side, the graphical options are extremely slim. The bulk of graphical quality adjustment is handled by a single vague option.

Audio

The audio experience is solid. The soundtrack is the standard video game fare, providing a pleasant distraction-free accompaniment to the game. The sound effects are of high quality and have enough variation to prevent the game from feeling stale. There is no voice acting in the game, which is significantly better than terrible voice acting.

Overall

Fort Triumph is a solid game that does justice to the two franchises that inspired development. While there are some quality of life issues that need to be ironed out, fans of turn based strategic combat will enjoy this new take on the genre.
