Clockwork Aquario – A Lost Arcade Gem Unearthed

Next Level Game Preservation – Lost Arcade Gem Comes to Life After 27 years

Stuttgart, Germany – June 4th 2020 – Strictly Limited Games and ININ Games are very excited to announce that the colorful game Clockwork Aquario will be released in 2020 – after being lost for 27 years.

The game will be published for current gaming platforms and will be available in limited physical editions, as well as digital. The release date is planned for later this year.

The development of Clockwork Aquario started in 1992 and is the last arcade game ever developed by the legendary company Westone. With its beautiful 2D graphics it was created to push the SEGA System 18 arcade hardware to its limits. Unfortunately, fighting games and 3D games were dominating the arcades at that time which led to the cancellation of Clockwork Aquario.

Originally designed by the chief publisher, and co-founder, of Westone, Ryuichi Nishizawa, Clockwork Aquario can be described as the swan song of a company that was part of an era with historic milestones such as the Wonder Boy / Monster World series.

As a company that is striving for the preservation of video games, it has also become a part of Strictly Limited Games’ mission to unearth unreleased games that are an essential part of the cultural video game heritage.

So, three years ago, Strictly Limited Games set out to find the whereabouts of “Tokeijikake no Aquario”, the Japanese title of Clockwork Aquario, and to bring the game back to life.

ININ Games then joined in the endeavours to convince SEGA/LAT that Clockwork Aquario will finally see the light of day, by signing to create a digital release and making the game accessible to a wider audience.

Some parts (including sound, music and several graphics) were not recoverable from the source code, so the particular emphasis is placed on involving as many members of the original Westone team as possible in the project to be true to the game – from the chief programmer, Takanori Kurihara, to the musical genius, Shinichi Sakamoto, to Mr Wonder Boy himself, Ryuichi Nishizawa, who expressed his joy and excitement about seeing the title screen again after 27 years on Twitter.

Ryuichi Nishizawa also said: “Clockwork Aquario is a great piece of 2D art, into which the pixel artists put their hearts and souls. I would like to express my heartfelt respect and gratitude to those who have worked so hard to restore it.”

More information about the game will follow soon. If you want to be sure to stay up-to-date on the state of the game, please go to http://clockworkaquario.com/ and subscribe to the mailing list.

PUZZLE-PACKED MYSTERY ADVENTURE GAME “THE ACADEMY: THE FIRST RIDDLE” OPENS ITS DOORS ON JUNE 19

HARRY POTTER MEETS PROFESSOR LAYTON IN THE LATEST TITLE FROM THE CREATORS OF “FARAWAY” AND “THE BIRDCAGE”

Zagreb, Croatia, June 3, 2020 — Developer Pine Studio, the company behind the well-received Faraway puzzle adventure series, has announced that its latest Harry Potter and Professor Layton-inspired title, “The Academy: The First Riddle,” will launch June 19 on PC and Mac via Steam, the App Store and Google Play. The game will arrive to Playstation 4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch later this summer.

“We’re huge fans of the Professor Layton series and its colorful puzzles,” says Pine Studio’s Boris Barbir. “We wanted to make a game that would allow players on all platforms to experience that thrill of getting a puzzle just right. We are big fans of Harry Potter, so the school is greatly inspired by Hogwarts, but it’s also inspired by the architecture of our city, Zagreb. Early on in development, it became clear that what we actually set off to achieve was to capture the essence of being a kid – the feeling that adventure lies around every corner.”

The game will place players in the shoes of Sam, a freshman at Arbor’s famed, yet mysterious, Academy. Over the course of this roughly 20-hour adventure, fans will sink their teeth into over 200 puzzles and riddles scattered across the campus. The puzzles will guide the players through the central story of the game and the mystery looming over the school. When fans aren’t busy unraveling the school’s past, they’ll be able to engage in a host of fun activities with an array of memorable characters.

The Academy: The First Riddle will launch June 19 on PC and Mac via Steam for $19.99, on Google Play, and the App Store for $9.99. The title will arrive to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch later this summer.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Leaked for August 2020 [Update]

Of all the relatively recent games that RPG fans could see remastered, Kingdoms of Amalur would likely not be high on that list as few would expect it to be possible primarily due to the eventual fallout with the Rhode Island once the game was released, but it looks like that is going to be the case. The Microsoft Store has leaked a listing for Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, a yet to be announced remastered version of the 2012 game with development being handled by Kaiko and THQ Nordic handling the publishing.

Currently Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is slated to be released on August 18th according to this listing and, as one would expect, is currently only known for the Xbox One for now. A number of screenshots can be found below and upon release the game will feature all of the downloadable content that was released previously for the game.

Update: The official announcement has been made and the game will be coming to the PlayStation 4 and PC as well on the same date for $39.99 though a special collector’s edition will also be released for $109.99 and will include a copy of the game, a soundtrack CD, Amalur key chain, five pieces of art work, and a 20cm tall Alyn Shir collectible statue.

Project CARS 3 Revealed for Summer 2020 Release

Through the release of only a trailer and short blurb for now, the company has announced that they will be bringing the game to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC sometime this summer and that players will be able to own, upgrade, and customize hundreds of elite brand road and race cars in the player’s “ultimate driver journey” as they race from their way up from being a weekend warrior to a racing legend.

This season, with Australia joining over 35 countries participating in the circuit, will we see an Aussie on the finals stage?

The program will aim to help bootcamp them in preparation for the Red Bull Solo Q World Finals.

As part of the partnership with League of Legends Global Esports Events, the winner of Red Bull Solo Q World Finals will get to experience the 2020 League of Legends All-Star Event firsthand! The champion will participate in the League’s annual year-end celebration alongside some of the game’s biggest esports athletes and streaming personalities, playing in special showcases and attending exclusive parties.

Top athletes and many more well-known faces from the LoL scene, including The Chiefs, will make special appearances throughout the tournament.
