Pawprint Studio shared extensive new details on the upcoming free-to-play, creature-catching RPG in today’s developer preview

Kingsglory and Pawprint Studio today hosted the first Aniimo developer preview as part of the teams’ efforts to keep the Aniimo community heavily involved in the development of the creature-catching RPG, even before launch. Headlined by the announcement that the “Paws Up” second closed beta test—which players can still sign up for at aniimo.com—will begin globally on January 23, 2026, the broadcast also previewed updates and improvements made to the game since earlier tests and on the road to launch on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and mobile later this year.    Today’s livestream revealed that players can look forward to dozens of new Aniimo and their evolutions to collect and twine with; vast new regions and ecosystems; expanded housing, social, and customization systems; and much more. New Aniimo – Brand-new Aniimo have been added, from Fentuft & Nimbi, whose mood impacts their environment, to Eko, an Aniimo that is great for sound-detection, a highly requested feature by the community. Many previously available Aniimo will also feature new evolutions, behaviors, and animations.

As always, players have the opportunity to not only collect but “twine” with any Aniimo to experience the world from a new perspective.  New Boss Aniimo will also appear across regions, including powerful iridescent variants. Players can also encounter the first ever Legendary Aniimo, Irelia, which is a story-driven legendary. Irelia’s full story unlocks for the first time during the Paws Up test. Regions, Environments, & Ecology – Multiple new areas and ecosystems can be explored in the new beta, each with their own interconnected Aniimo behaviors. These include Driftwise Meadow with its emotion-based ecology, the fiery Sandcastle Hill and flourishing Rosetower Wood, while existing regions will receive expanded features and new native Aniimo. Homeland – In the Homeland system, players can farm and harvest with their Aniimo, decorate their home to their preferences, and treat Aniimo to fun fairground rides whilst simultaneously working together to achieve their goals. Facilities are powered by Aniimo, and can be accessed from the RV Campsite.

Homeland is a feature where community feedback is especially welcome! Operation: Egg Heist – A major new gameplay mode, this large-scale PvE/PvP mode is set on the Lost Isles, where teams of three explore outer zones and dungeons to find treasure and eggs. Featuring maze-like dungeons and opportunities to use creative mechanics to trick enemies, the mode’s primary objective is to team up to compete with Pathfinders from the whole server for the Aniimo Egg.  Social & Multiplayer Enhancements – New social tools are available to players, including the Horn to call for help from friends and strangers in the open world, the Flute to invite others to a location or discover players nearby, and the Come to Me ability which instantly calls one’s allies. This beta also adds the Follow & Gift System, which allows players to travel together and gift Aniimo. Technical Upgrades – Since earlier tests, Aniimo has also received major visual and customization improvements, with improved environments, NPC models, lighting, and player character customization.  

Additionally, Aniimo recently concluded its first co-dev program, “An Aniimo Is Born,” which received nearly one thousand submissions for community-created creature designs. The first winners’ designs are already in production for inclusion in the game, with the Pawprint Studio team today announcing that a second round of co-creation is coming soon.   Finally, the team announced an upcoming community poll on Discord and aniimo.com, where the Aniimo voted most popular will be turned into a free Pathfinder outfit available for all players.

For Blind Descent, Corvad has crafted an original musical identity designed to amplify the game’s atmosphere and narrative tension. SS11 Vorax ushers in an enhanced Torchlight: Infinite experience and a brand new Hero Trait

Shanghai, China — January 9, 2026 |  XD Games is excited to reveal more details about the upcoming Torchlight: Infinite season, SS11 Vorax, coming 15 January.

As outlined in the SS11 Vorax preview video, this new season introduces a whole host of gameplay tweaks. Players can defeat monsters that have been infected with Vorax Syndrome, earning the seasonal currency, Vorax Substance. With Vorax Substance, players can access Surgical Preparation to manage six Incubation Tanks; manipulate monster quantity, rarity and activity; and leverage family-specific mechanics and Incubation Elixirs to maximise Ultimate Activity, which directly scales loot rewards. Reward tiers are determined by players battling in a dedicated arena with their custom-engineered monsters and filling Antidote Vials. 

Players looking for more of a challenge – and higher value loot – can look to the optional Netherrealm enhancers, Scalpels. Scalpels increase encounter difficulty without consuming Compass slots, significantly amplifying reward-scaling by introducing more elites and Scavengers. Other new mechanics and systems include the Grafting system, which uses Vorax Limbs as exclusive crafting bases with unrestricted affix rules; Core Organ extraction, which allows up to two Legendary mods per item without slot limits; and Vorax Corrosion, which enables endgame gambling to push affixes to Tier 0 / Tier 0 Plus.

Additionally, this update will include a multitude of visual upgrades that promise an enhanced experience for Torchlight: Infinite players. Icons have been redesigned for visual clarity; the UI is now more readable than before; and combat VFX has been tweaked, leading to more dynamic battles. Many monster and hero models have been revamped, too, such as Rehan, Carino, and Gemma.

New trailer from New Game+ showcases Steampunk threat to 19th century Japan

Nicosia, Cyprus (January 8th, 2026) | Today during the New Game+ Showcase, META Publishing and studio 1M Bits Horde announced that survival-settlement RPG Nested Lands launches in Early Access January 23rd, 2026. The title’s Early Access version will be available on PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, with console versions planned for the full release.

Nested Lands is a medieval survival-settlement RPG set during the Black Death. Players start with nothing and must work to build a functioning village by gathering resources, enduring nasty plague outbreaks, and protecting their people from roaming bandits and unstable plague-twisted foes. Every choice affects the settlement’s future, and the world in-game reacts to the player’s choices accordingly. Between the responsibilities that come with leading a village, surviving a deadly outbreak, and the question of the main character’s own mental state and personal hygiene, what could go wrong?

The Early Access version brings an expanded set of mechanics shaped by community feedback:

• A deeper plague system with multiple stages and tactical consequences
• Reworked combat and stealth
• Smarter villagers, improved management tools, and clearer automation
• A broad set of quality-of-life improvements across building, UI, and progression

In the coming weeks, players will be able to check out the updated demo, which features cooperative mode for up to four players, allowing them to explore a slice of the game’s world before its release.

Waaagh! begins – More Factions Reveals Incoming

Sydney, Australia, 9^Th of January 2026: Deep Silver and KING Art Games revealed the first of four in-game CGI narrative sequences for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV, and fittingly, it’s the Orks who get to start the WAAAGH! Enter the new year with full Ork energy: loud, reckless, and ready for the war.

Ork CGI Overview
Each CGI chapter serves as a cinematic introduction to one of the four playable factions. Today, the spotlight falls on the brutal and endlessly destructive Orks:

• Meet Gorgutz ’Ead ’Unter, the Ork Warboss of the Bad Moons.
• The CGI shows how Gorgutz has launched a surprise attack on the Blood Ravens as they orbit the world of Kronus.
• Upon boarding the Blood Raven vessel, we see Orks and Blood Ravens clash. Chief Librarian Jonus Orion unleashes devastating psychic attacks on them, while Captain Cyrus snipes at them from a secure firing position, trying to slow the advance.

• With the ship taking heavy damage and the situation slipping out of control, the Blood Ravens are forced to abandon the ship and drop to the surface of Kronus. Their escape is only the beginning. Gorgutz and his boyz are right on their heels.
