Die by the Blade Hits Initial Kickstarter Funding Target

Exciting stretch goals revealed for upcoming one-hit-kill sword fighting game

Košice, Slovak Republic – 2nd November, 2020. Publisher Grindstone and developers Triple Hill Interactive and Toko Midori are thrilled to announce that their upcoming one-hit-kill sword fighting game Die by the Blade has hit its Kickstarter funding target and will now activate the campaign stretch goals.

While it is fantastic news that Die by the Blade has reached its initial target, there is more content that could be added to this great game. There are still some top rewards available for new backers to take advantage of and help shape the future of this highly anticipated, spiritual successor to some of the best classic sword fighting games ever released.

“We are so happy to have hit our initial Kickstarter funding target and would like to thank everyone who backed our campaign for Die by the Blade and for all the valuable information from the fans that has helped drive the ongoing development” commented Peter Nagy, founder and CEO of publisher Grindstone. “With this funding, the team will be further adding to the gameplay experience with higher quality animation, expanded character roster and even more weapons”.

“We are excited that we can now expand on our development plans for Die by the Blade and the team would like to thank all of our backers for joining us on this great adventure” said Peter Adamondy, development lead at Triple Hill Interactive. “As well as adding in some truly exciting gameplay mechanics we can now open up the stretch goals where we can really elevate the game content further”.

The team is also thrilled to announce that the stretch goals are now live on the Kickstarter page! The first goal activated will be the addition of deadly ranged weapons to add to the arsenal of swords available for players to choose. Each character will have a special ranged weapon that can be used once in each round. Players will be able to block this with their sword, but timing will be crucial.

Drawing inspiration from legendary combat games like Bushido Blade and Way of the Samurai, Die by the Blade is a one-hit-kill sword fighting action game where players must take up their weapons and face off against deadly opponents. Choose your character, select your blade and engage in 1 vs 1 combat where the slightest mistake could seal your fate. Become a master of your craft and fight to the death with other players in tense, fast paced multiplayer matches or slash through tough AI enemies in the thrilling single player campaign.

In addition, as a thank you to the fans and community, there is a new screensaver available to download featuring some beautiful artwork from the game.

Die by the Blade is being developed by developers Triple Hill Interactive and Toko Midori published by Grindstone and is scheduled for a 2021 release for PC and consoles.

George Orwell’s Animal Farm will launch December 10 on PC and Mobile

“No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be?” ― George Orwell, Animal Farm

Wishlist on Steam Now!

London, United Kingdom, 2nd November 2020 —   As the world awaits the results of this week’s US election, Indie Development Collective The Dairymen and Nerial – creators of the BAFTA-nominated Reigns series – today announced that their game, George Orwell’s Animal Farm, is coming to PC and Mobile on December 10th.

August marked seventy-five years since the novel was published in 1945, and still today, Orwell’s subtle yet razor-sharp commentary on the corrupting nature of power arguably remains as fresh and relevant as ever.

Animal Farm – which enjoys the full endorsement of the Orwell Estate – will be a narrative, choice-based adventure game that puts the player at the centre of an allegorical revolution. By choosing which of the animals’ wishes they follow – and who is ignored or sidelined – gamers will influence the critical events that define the fate of the farm. Players must devise strategies to balance resources, defend the farm, and keep the animal population happy.

Imre Jele, Project Founder:

“I have long wanted to explore how, through video gaming, we could design an experience which immerses the player in Orwell’s vision. As the project has come to fruition in 2020 it has felt increasingly vital to bring Orwell’s study of inequity, power and control to a new audience. As I watch world events unfold – Brexit, Trump, Putin, Orban, Erdogan – and see numerous leaders use tactics from the populist, nationalist playbook: it sometimes feels like Animal Farm is not fiction, but reality.“

Emily Short, Writer:

“Animal Farm tends to be remembered for how its powerful characters destroy the truth through gaslighting, hypocrisy, corruption and greed – all distressingly recognisable to people living through the political events of 2020. But the book also says a lot about why altruistic characters support horrible outcomes, and how values like hard work, cooperation, and loyalty can be warped in obedience to unsound goals. Video games are powerful at telling stories about systems and enabling ‘what if?’ questions. My goal was to capture Orwell’s very relevant observations in a form that players can explore.”

Key features of George Orwell’s Animal Farm video game are:

Pick Your Own Adventure

  • Cultivate, subvert, or sacrifice the different animals who live on Manor Farm and see their different political strategies play out.
  • Guide Manor Farm through seven years of Animalism. Can the player avoid its manipulation and the descent into decadence?
  • Manage the affairs and feelings of Manor Farm’s animals as the fortunes of the farm evolve.
  • Fill your handbook with information about each animal and log events.

Strategically manage the resources and defence of Manor Farm

  • Rally against the two-legged enemy: human beings.
  • Prepare for battle by building the Farm’s defences and increasing resources production, including building the Windmill.
  • Idyllic springs, sweet summers, golden autumns and bitter winters must all be navigated in each passing year as Animalism marches on.

Multiple Endings and unlockable achievements

  • Choose your political machinations: Surveillance, Reeducation or Bloodbaths.
  • Reach up to 6 destinies and find 8 different endings.
  • Complete all 48 achievements in the Farm’s handbook.
  • Bring in new creatures to the Republic of Animals, and open up new possibilities for the direction of the Farm.

The game will be narrated by Abubakar Salim who amongst other roles played Bayek in Assassin’s Creed: Origins. His performance was directed by Kate Saxon, who has worked on a series of high profile video games including Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture, Alien: Isolation, The Witcher 2 & 3 and others.

The indie developer collective consists of The Dairymen (Andy Payne founder of Just Flight, AppyNation and Imre Jele founder of Bossa Studios), and Nerial, the creators of the BAFTA-nominated Reigns series, who bring their unrivalled skills in streamlined and powerful storytelling to Animal Farm

About The Dairymen

The Dairymen consists of The Dairymen (Andy Payne founder of Just Flight, AppyNation and Imre Jele founder of Bossa Studios), and is an anagram of Andy and Imre. The two-person team was founded to make Animal Farm into a videogame for our times and introduce the novel and George Orwell to new generations of fans.

About Nerial

Nerial, best known for the Reigns series of games, is an award-winning indie game studio founded by Francois Alliot in 2013. Nerial makes deep narrative experiences with simple game mechanics. All art has been created by Helen O’Dell, with code by Ludwik Bacmaga. The team is working with Emily Short, known for her interactive fiction, narrative design, and conversation modelling. Emily is currently the Creative Director at Failbetter Games. The original music is composed by Murugan Thiruchelvam.

About George Orwell’s Animal Farm

George Orwell’s fable of revolutionary farm animals – the steadfast horses Boxer and Clover, the opportunistic pigs Snowball and Napoleon, and the deafening choir of sheep – who overthrow their elitist human master only to find themselves subject to a new authority, is one of the most famous warnings ever written.

Rejected by such eminent publishing figures as Victor Gollancz, Jonathan Cape and T.S. Eliot due to its daringly open criticism of Stalin, Animal Farm was published to great acclaim by Martin Secker and Warburg on 17 August 1945. One reviewer wrote ‘In a hundred years’ time perhaps Animal Farm … may simply be a fairy story: today it is a fairy story with a good deal of point.’

Seventy-five years since its first publication, Orwell’s immortal satire remains an unparalleled masterpiece and more relevant than ever.

To Kara’s tribe, the exploits of her ancestors are legendary. Hunters, fishers, warriors, poets and philosophers, their stories tell of a people who lived in perfect harmony with the natural world and swam the deep waters in the company of gods. Though the tale of their downfall has been lost to time, their legacy lives on in these artefacts that have endured to this day.

Ancestral Attire

This treasured garment – fit for either a warrior or a priest – has been handed down from generation to generation, and now the time has come for Kara to honour her past.

Ancestral Oar

The Oceanic Gyre was revered in times past, though its true significance is enigmatic to Kara’s people today. Nevertheless, this salt-treated wooded oar remains sturdy and functional, despite its age.

Ancestral Knife

How or where the ancestors acquired these Sea Shards remains a mystery, but few would deny their efficacy. Luminous, durable and impossibly sharp, this blade cuts as well today as it did a hundred years ago.

Halloween in New Eden: EVE Echoes Unveils Brand New ‘Crimson Harvest’ Event

Halloween in New Eden: EVE Echoes Unveils Brand New ‘Crimson Harvest’ Event

New Modules and Items Also Added to NetEase Games’ Mobile MMORPG

Guangzhou, China – October 31, 2020: Bringing some much needed festive cheer to players, NetEase Games is excited to lift the lid on several updates about to hit its celebrated mobile MMORPG EVE Echoes, with the roll-out of brand new Halloween-themed ‘The Crimson Harvest’ event leading the line.

Alongside the addition of seven new modules designed to reflect player feedback (including an Interdiction Sphere Launcher, Warp Disruption Field Generator, Warp Scrambler, Sensor Dampening, Target Painter, and a Tracking Disruptor and Guidance Disruptor), the aforementioned special event will run between October 31st and November 10th.

During the event, Crimson Harvest Anomalies were added to the universe. These will include Haunted Ruins and Carnival at Cemetery, which are low-level festive anomalies and high-level festive anomalies respectively. Both of them will appear in each system in the universe at random, with there naturally being a greater chance of low-level anomalies compared to the intentionally rarer high-level anomalies.

Brand new Halloween-themed skins will also be available in New Eden Store during the event. During the event, four kinds of different Skin boxes will be added, with some big discounts on some of these Skin boxes.

Neatly, the design of the Halloween skin was inspired by pumpkins, featuring an orange and black hull and an amazing flame-like effect when driving. These Skin batches will be on offer for a limited time – when the event is over, they will be removed from the store, and won’t be available as daily merchandise.

The Crimson Harvest event includes:

  • Crimson Harvest Anomalies will appear in the universe. These include Haunted Ruins (Low-level Festive Anomalie) and Carnival at Cemetery (High-level Festive Anomalies).
  • During the event, both will appear in each system in the universe at random, with there naturally being a greater chance of low-level anomalies compared to the intentionally rarer high-level anomalies.
  • You can get brand new Modules and Halloween exclusive Skins from Haunted Supply Boxes. There’s even a chance of getting permanent Halloween Skins. Haunted Supply Boxes can be traded.
  • The 7 new Modules can only be obtained through Haunted Supply Boxes during the event. On Nov. 11, these Modules can be obtained in the normal ways, once we’ve finished some final tweaks to the pirate system.
  • Opening Haunted Supply Box III grants new storyline Modules and permanent Halloween Skins.

Limited-time The Crimson Harvest Skins include:

  • Limited-Time Skins will be available in New Eden Store during the event. The way Skins have been provided has been changed: during the event, we are adding 4 kinds of different Skin boxes.
  • This batch of Skins are limited-time offers. When the event is over, they will be removed from the store, and won’t be available as daily merchandise.

October has seen EVE Echoes build on its growing popularity, with the game playing host to what may have been the biggest scale online battle in the history of mobile games.

Up to 1,200 players worldwide took park in an encounter between the Genesis Federation Alliance and OP4S alliance. With the former coming out victorious, the skirmish resulted in more than 1,350 ships being lost, alongside 61.2 billion ISK – EVE’s currency.

“We took control of the station grid,” said a spokesperson for the Genesis Federation Alliance. “As we tried to shoot enemy ships, they split their force between people who would shoot us and dozens of people who would undock and use the 60-second undock timer to cloud our overview with ships we could not shoot. In the meantime, the other fleet was free to use their other ships to attack us. When we identified those and tried to attack them, they would warp off and the undocking ships would shoot us from behind. Additionally, they abused the immunity to dock and undock guardian ships.”

Players can expect to see further battles of a similar scale take place during Halloween, both during and after The Crimson Harvest.

The sci-fi RPG survival horror game Chernobylite will launch on current & next-gen consoles in 2021. All in! Games will publish the console version

A year after the Early Access launch, The Farm 51 studio is back with a brand-new gameplay trailer and a whole bunch of exciting news for their upcoming sci-fi RPG survival horror game Chernobylite.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – October 30th, Gliwice, Poland.

Time flies when you’re having fun. Or work super hard with your community to make sure the game you’re developing will meet all their expectations. And that’s exactly what The Farm 51 devs have been doing since the Chernobylite Early Access launch back in mid-October 2019. A year later, the game is incomparably bigger (in content), better (when it comes to features), and more bada… erm… you know where we’re going with this, so without further marketing babble, let’s jump straight into all the juicy details, shall we?

For starters, watch the brand-new Chernobylite console announcement trailer, confirming the game will launch not only on PC and current-gen but also next-gen consoles.

Hopefully, it’s convincing enough for you to consider purchasing the Early Access version of the game available on either Steam (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1016800/Chernobylite/) or GOG.com (https://www.gog.com/game/chernobylite). Especially that it’s now 30% off – and the last discount before the game’s launch planned for 2021.

Bringing Chernobylite to next-gen consoles will be possible thanks to the term-sheet The Farm 51 studio has just signed with All in! Games. Thanks to the cooperation, the game will get many more distribution channels (including streaming platforms) and will be professionally localized in more languages than originally planned. Before this happens, however, you can already enjoy another massive update that has just been added to the game. This Mega Patch is the penultimate one before the game’s content is complete, and here’s what you can expect from it:

Two new quests to complete

Dig deeper into either Olivier’s or Olga’s story. Or explore both to add new plot pieces for discovering Chernobylite’s mystery.

Two new levels, and additional locations on the already existing ones, to be discovered

Fractal World “The Woman in the Red Dress” is the conclusion of a new investigation on the board, and “Stealing Adrianna’s technology” will especially be enjoyed by those of you who asked how Igor got his VR helmet. On top of that, you’ll be able to explore additional locations added to the levels you already know. So make sure to revisit them and find them all. Just remember – you’ll need one of the new “toys” for that.

And yes, by “toys” we mean new weapons!

Test either the Chernobylite Blaster or enjoy the Anti-Chernobylite Burner that will help you to access the already mentioned new locations. Warning! Don’t visit them unless you’re not ready for a whole load of new events, as we’ve added over 40 of them within all levels.

AI improvements

Get ready for a perceptible change in the way soldiers behave when patrolling and searching for you. But most importantly, beware of the Black Stalker, as fighting him now is a real challenge. Mark our words.

Check how much of your feedback was implemented in the game

In short: you talked, we listened. And then added changes to the game, re-designed, iterated, and overall made sure that Chernobylite truly is a joint effort – it’ll be as much your game as it is ours. This means that, among other things, we’ve enlarged the base with an area that was previously flooded with water. We’ve also completely rebuilt the looting system. Now, what your opponent’s drop should be both more interesting and better suited for the challenge. Since you didn’t really like the possibility of building cover while exploring the Zone, we’ve replaced it with the possibility of building machines that have a global impact on the area. Following your request, we’ve also added the ability to toggle aim and crouch, as well as an alternative way to use the dodge ability. And that’s the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the number of changes this Mega Patch brings, so dive in HERE for the full changelog.
