Secret of Mana Composer, Hiroki Kikuta, and Pixel Artist of The Textorcist, Misbug, Join the Team of Tinkertown

Multiplayer Sandbox Game to Arrive in Style on Steam Early Access Soon

2 November 2020, Cologne – Games publisher Headup is delighted to announce that Hiroki Kikuta, renowned composer of Secret of Mana and Soukaigi has joined the production of Tinkertown, Headup’s first in-house production, along with the pixel artist Giuseppe Longo (aka Misbug), a creator behind Gunbrick Reloaded and The Escapists 2.

This will be the second time Headup has worked with Misburg, who has already caused a stir for his incredible work on the pixel art for The Textorcist in 2018.

Hiroki Kikuta will contribute two tracks that are exclusively created for Tinkertown. Check out a sample here. “When the team of Tinkertown approached me with their request to contribute to the game, I was quickly sold on the idea“, commented Hiroki Kikuta, “it’s a cheerful take on 16-Bit RPG classics, transported into the modern sandbox genre. My soundtrack is designed to enhance this experience, lifting up the spirits of any adventurers setting foot into the lovely world of Tinkertown.”

Tinkertown is a drop-in multiplayer game where players build, craft and explore a procedurally generated, open world, and discover dungeons filled with enemies, bosses and epic loot.

The loot can be combined with countless resources and blueprints to craft as tools, armour, and weapons as well as furniture, workshops and machines to build settlements that can eventually turn into an impressive city.

Players explore the world through different biomes such as mystical forests, vast deserts, chilling ice tundras and mountains with glowing rivers of lava, all depicted with handmade pixel graphics. Offering different experiences to all players, based on the choice of weapons and armour, they can play as a rogue, warrior, mage, or anyone they wish to be. It is crucial to choose carefully from the onset, as many enemies lurk in the world, and powerful bosses await in the dungeons.

Tinkertown will launch on Steam Early Access in 2020 with the release date to be announced soon. The project Tinkertown is funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure as part of the federal government’s computer games funding program with a total of €153,669.

About Hiroki Kikuta
Hiroki Kikuta is a veteran videogame composer based in Tokyo, Japan who’s best known for his work on Squaresoft’s beloved SNES RPG, Secret of Mana and the recently-released Trials of Mana which appeared for the first time outside of Japan in 2019. While at Squaresoft, he also scored Soukaigi on the original PlayStation.

Kikuta then struck out on his own as an independent game developer, creating, directing, and composing music for the PlayStation title, Koudelka. He’s since been actively involved in writing music for indie games in Japan and abroad, most recently completing work on Indivisible and starting on music for Hazelnut Bastille, Orange Island, and many others.

The in-game campaign includes the following:

    • Players can receive up to 15 Golden Scout Tickets that can be used for the specific Scout and other various rewards, including Enhancement Items, by logging into the game on 10 different days during the campaign period

Furthermore, following the game’s first anniversary, the SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization Rising Steel main story will be themed around the Alicization arc’s Moon Cradle chapter, during which Kirito and Asuna begin their life in Underworld. In addition to Kirito and Asuna, characters such as Nergius Synthesis Sixteen, Entokia Synthesis Eighteen, Ronie and Tiese will make appearances in the story, which takes place after the end of the War of Underworld.

Exciting stretch goals revealed for upcoming one-hit-kill sword fighting game

Publisher Grindstone and developers Triple Hill Interactive and Toko Midori are thrilled to announce that their upcoming one-hit-kill sword fighting game Die by the Blade has hit its Kickstarter funding target and will now activate the campaign stretch goals. 

While it is fantastic news that Die by the Blade has reached its initial target, there is more content that could be added to this great game. There are still some top rewards available for new backers to take advantage of and help shape the future of this highly anticipated, spiritual successor to some of the best classic sword fighting games ever released.

The first goal activated will be the addition of deadly ranged weapons to add to the arsenal of swords available for players to choose. Each character will have a special ranged weapon that can be used once in each round. Players will be able to block this with their sword, but timing will be crucial.

Drawing inspiration from legendary combat games like Bushido Blade and Way of the Samurai, Die by the Blade is a one-hit-kill sword fighting action game where players must take up their weapons and face off against deadly opponents. Choose your character, select your blade and engage in 1 vs 1 combat where the slightest mistake could seal your fate. Become a master of your craft and fight to the death with other players in tense, fast paced multiplayer matches or slash through tough AI enemies in the thrilling single player campaign. 

In addition, as a thank you to the fans and community, there is a new screensaver available to download featuring some beautiful artwork from the game.

Die by the Blade is being developed by developers Triple Hill Interactive and Toko Midori published by Grindstone and is scheduled for a 2021 release for PC and consoles.

CURVE DIGITAL ACQUIRES IRONOAK GAMES

For the King Developer joins Curve Digital to further expand the hit RPG franchise

Curve Digital will continue to collaborate with IronOak Games on the For the King franchise – which now has over three million players – including DLC releases in 2020 and 2021. In addition, IronOak Games will begin working on further expanding the For The King IP with Curve Digital; more details to be announced later in development. 

IronOak Games, headed up by Gordon Moran and Colby Young, was founded in January 2015 and has previously collaborated with Curve Digital on For the King published for PC in April 2018 and on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch May 2019.

August marked seventy-five years since the novel was published in 1945, and still today, Orwell’s subtle yet razor-sharp commentary on the corrupting nature of power arguably remains as fresh and relevant as ever. 

Animal Farm – which enjoys the full endorsement of the Orwell Estate – will be a narrative, choice-based adventure game that puts the player at the centre of an allegorical revolution. By choosing which of the animals’ wishes they follow – and who is ignored or sidelined – gamers will influence the critical events that define the fate of the farm. Players must devise strategies to balance resources, defend the farm, and keep the animal population happy.

SpellForce Free: New SpellForce Versus Lets You Play Ranked Multiplayer Matches For Free

Sydney, Australia, November 2nd, 2020 – The SpellForce-Franchise gets two new additions on November 3rd. Not only will the second expansion, Fallen God, launch on that day, but also the all new SpellForce 3: Versus. SpellForce 3: Versus is a a Free-to-play version of SpellForce 3, allowing players to participate in the newly introduced ranked multiplayer as well as play in a skirmish against AI opponents.

In SpellForce 3: Versus, you will be able to play either Humans, Orcs and Elves – and your faction will be randomly chosen for you when you start the game for the first – once an Orc, always an Orc! While fighting against other users of SpellForce 3: Versus, you can also face players from the expansions Fallen God and Soul Harvest – there will be just one big SpellForce 3 player base. SpellForce 3: Versus will have NO microtransactions, NO advertisement or any other common Free-to-play mechanic. You can play Versus absolutely free of charge, only if you want to have access to the singleplayer campaigns from SpellForce 3, SpellForce 3: Soul Harvest or SpellForce 3: Fallen God, you’ll have to buy them. 

Additionally, there is a Multiplayer-Upgrade pack available, allowing you to choose from each of the six different SpellForce-factions: Humans, Orcs, Dwarves, Dark Elves, Trolls and Elves.

About SpellForce 3: Versus Edition

The SpellForce 3: Versus Edition gives you the chance to enter the battlefields of Eo for free, letting you test your RTS skills against AI opponents or even other human players.

Skirmish or 1-on-1 Multiplayer
You can choose whether you want to take on AI enemies in a Skirmish battle, or go head-to-head with other human players of SpellForce 3 in both Ranked and Unranked PVP matches. On top of it all you can also check out the single-player scenario ‘Old Haalâyash’ to get a glimpse of what the lavishly created single-player campaigns of SpellForce 3 and its stand-alone expansions have to offer.

Multiplayer Races: Orcs, Humans and Elves
You will be randomly assigned a faction, giving you a chance to try out either playing as Orcs, Humans or Elves.

Each faction has its own strengths and traits, so you’ll need to develop your strategy to make the most of your warriors and workers. And because the faction is randomly assigned every time you play, you’ll have to think fast in order to secure victory.

New modes & Witch Skin bolster game experience

Sydney, Australia, 2nd November 2020 | Deep Silver is pleased to announce it is further enhancing the Windbound gameplay experience with a collection of free content updates releasing in three patches throughout Q4 2020 and Q1 2021. The content updates will feature new gameplay mechanics, cosmetics and game modes – delivered free to all players via patch updates.

The first content update launches today and is designed to significantly boost the player’s experience. It includes a new Witch Skin – upgrading Kara’s abilities alongside the all new Photo and Endless Modes.

The Witch Skin comprises three extra items for Kara, each of which contain new abilities; the Witch’s Hat – potions last longer; the Witch’s Outfit – play to respawn nearby after death; and the Witch’s Staff – unbreakable and fires out small magic orbs with each melee strike, that seek out and damage the closest target.

The first of the new modes is Photo Mode, which allows the player to pause the game, adjust the camera and take a photo. Players can also change Kara’s pose and expression, the time of day and add filters.

  • Creative mode for keen  video game photographers offering full control over camera position and orientation, field of view, exposure, time of day, and position of the sun
  • 20 different poses and expressions for Kara
  • 20 hats and accessories for Kara
  • A variety of filters, from black and white, to CRT, to pastel

There is also the Eternal Voyage offering players an endless play mode, which adds tracking to the map screen and save profile to indicate how many stages the player has managed to survive.  The game does not finish with Chapter 5, stages will progressively (but not endlessly) get larger, more varied and more dangerous.

The Q4 2020  update will include additional skins for Kara, Free sailing mode and an upgraded Nautilus tower experience – introducing a number of new towers for players to explore, complete new challenges and progress.

Our early Q1 2021 update will further expand the Nautilus tower experience, whilst introducing new enemy types, combat moves and gameplay mechanics via a ‘corruption’ system.

In addition, Kara’s Ancestral Gear, originally offered as a pre-order bonus, is now available to purchase on console, PC and Stadia digital stores, please check your preferred platform for pricing.

This treasured garment – fit for either a warrior or a priest – has been handed down from generation to generation, and now the time has come for Kara to honour her past.
