TURBULENT CREATES NEW GAME DEVELOPMENT STUDIO IN MONTREAL TO MAKE WORLDS FOR STAR CITIZEN

Following Minority Stake Investment from Cloud Imperium Games in 2019, Turbulent Opens Montreal Studio Devoted to AAA Sci-Fi Game Development

Montreal, Canada, November 24, 2020 – Turbulent will open a Montreal game studio focused on building star systems for Cloud Imperium Game’s sci-fi Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game of unprecedented scale and uncompromising vision: Star Citizen. The studio will be directed by Benoit Beausejour (CTO and co-founder) and industry veterans Guillaume Voghel (Producer), Pierre-Luc Boulais (Art Director) and Louis Rousseau (Lead Game Designer).

The goal is to build a fully-fledged independent studio, with its own unique Montréal culture. This studio will contribute to the larger, global development pipeline of Star Citizen, which is currently distributed across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

This newly formed team in Turbulent has already added staff and continues to grow as it creates content in lockstep with Star Citizen’s senior development leadership, including Chief Development Officer Erin Roberts and Game Director Todd Papy. The remit of the Turbulent Star Citizen team is to develop new tools to enhance and expand the existing pipeline, create new locations and features and also build entire new star systems for Star Citizen, which will make their way into the Star Citizen universe on an ongoing basis. Over the next three years, Turbulent and CIG have plans to grow the studio to 100 developers.

“I am extremely proud to officially announce the creation of a Star Citizen development team in Montreal at Turbulent. Montreal has an amazing talent pool of developers and a rich video game history, and we couldn’t be happier to add the very best local talent to work with the CIG family on the focused goal of building worlds for this unprecedented persistent universe. ”- Benoit Beausejour, CTO and co-founder of Turbulent

Over the years, Turbulent has proven themselves to be an extremely reliable and creative partner. We entered into a partnership with Benoit and the team at Turbulent eight years ago, first to help us develop our web presence and then our publishing and platform capabilities. Their hard work and efforts have been integral to our success. It’s a natural progression of our close relationship that we have now asked them to build out a dedicated content team from Montreal’s finest developers to help us create entire new star systems for the Star Citizen Persistent Universe. I couldn’t be happier to welcome Guillaume, Pierre-Luc, and Louis to the CIG and Star Citizen team.” – Erin Roberts, Chief Development Officer and co-founder of Cloud Imperium Games.

This exciting new endeavor for Turbulent comes after Cloud Imperium Games acquired a minority stake in the company in 2019.

About Cloud Imperium Games

Cloud Imperium is a new kind of independent studio dedicated to delivering AAA games outside the established publisher system. Founded in 2012 by renowned visionary game developer Chris Roberts (Wing Commander series, Freelancer, Privateer), Sandi Gardiner, and international media lawyer and producer Ortwin Freyermuth (Carlito’s Way, Shattered, Das Boot – Director’s Cut), with industry veteran and Chief Development Officer Erin Roberts (Lego videogame series, Starlancer, Privateer) joining the team in 2013. Cloud Imperium is creating Star Citizen, a record-shattering largely crowdfunded space sim, and Squadron 42, a Hollywood-caliber story-driven single-player game set in the same universe. Cloud Imperium operates in “open development” – sharing progress and updates with our backers in near real time. This paradigm-shifting development process (game development usually occurs behind closed doors) means players know the ins and outs of Star Citizen and Squadron 42’s development, interact with and give feedback to our developers, and ensures that we are making the games they want to play.

Farming Simulator ups realism and eco-friendliness by EU-backed free DLC

Precision Farming DLC available on December 8th

Farming Simulator 19 becomes more realistic by introducing Precision Farming: A free DLC featuring “smart farming” technology will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on December 8th. The DLC is part of the ‘Precision Farming Project’ funded by EIT Food, Europe’s leading Food Innovation Initiative. Developed by GIANTS Software, the DLC features new gameplay elements for more eco-friendly farming.

EU project led by John Deere, raising agricultural awareness

Initiated by acclaimed agricultural machine manufacturer John Deere, the project is set to take place over two years and involves a variety of collaborating partners of the European Union, including two universities involved in the concept and ongoing testing of the gameplay features.

“As John Deere’s project manager of this EIT Food funded project I’m impressed by the great and very effective cooperation with GIANTS Software and our partners”, explains Dr. Thomas Engel, Technology Innovation Strategy Manager at John Deere. “The first version of the DLC already offers more than I expected. Features like soil sampling and variable fertilizing offer a great introduction into the world of Precision Farming. I’m convinced that we’re able to massively strengthen the knowledge about modern agriculture within the gaming community.”

The goal of the Precision Farming Project is rooted in the fact that public knowledge about farming is in decline. With the link between society living in big metropolitan areas and modern agricultural technology almost severed. Modern precision farming technologies are introduced in the Farming Simulator product as one of EITs multiple efforts to change this false perception and raise awareness for sustainable farming in the general public.

New gameplay features make virtual farms more efficient and eco-friendlier

Players will be able to optimize their yield by taking soil samples to identify four different soil types with individual requirements. They need to take pH values and nitrogen content in the soil into account. Dynamic application rates based on soil properties allow saving resources like seeds, fertilizer, fuel, maintenance cost and more, saving money while operating more environmentally-friendly.

“We’re excited to elevate the aspect of realism in Farming Simulator with the expertise of our partner John Deere while contributing to the solution of an agricultural challenge. We hope the new gameplay features will please our fans while spreading awareness of modern agricultural technology”, says Christian Ammann, CEO of GIANTS Software.

Project and DLC to evolve even further

Releasing this DLC marks only the first step for the game: While the exact course of further development is yet to be determined together with the University of Hohenheim (Germany) and University of Reading (Great Britain) as well as player feedback, the continuation of the project is about to bring even more gameplay-features and build a closer connection between modern society and agriculture. More information is available on farming-simulator.com.

Farming Simulator is now available for PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The Premium Edition including base game and all DLCs is also available everywhere, for PC, Mac, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, in digital or retail stores.

Rule the Medieval World With Your Own Unique Character

Latest patch also brings fixes for a smoother gameplay experience to the renowned grand strategy role-playing game

STOCKHOLM – November 24, 2020 – Paradox Interactive has today released the Ruler Designer feature as a free update for Crusader Kings III, the critically-acclaimed grand strategy title. The feature allows Lords and Ladies to fully customize saints and sinners, geniuses and dolts, handsome rogues and ugly scholars. Alongside the Ruler Designer feature, a new patch has also been released that brings several important updates and fixes to the game.

Since launching on September 1, Crusader Kings III players have stepped into the shoes of various historical monarchs many times over, seeing them to glorious victory or hapless defeat. With the Ruler Designer feature, players can handcraft the best – or worst – of rulers with customization options spanning appearance, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and more, then quickly dive into the mayhem and drama that has become the game’s hallmark.

  • Choose your ruler’s starting realm and then dive into the designer.
  • Add traits and fine-tune their skills. Make a brilliant strategist or holy administrator.
  • Play as male or female, with any in-game culture, religion, or sexual orientation.
  • Customize their appearance with thousands of options, including hair length, skin color, eyebrow shape, and much more.

Get a glimpse of the Ruler Designer feature in action below:

The ability to create unique characters was a major part of Crusader Kings II and proved to be one of the title’s most sought after expansions. With today’s update, Paradox Interactive brings this famed feature to Crusader Kings III for all players to enjoy.

Additionally, patch 1.2 brings a number of other updates and fixes to Crusader Kings III. Highlights include:

  • Kill List that tracks the executions, battle slayings, and (known) murders by characters in the game.
  • UI Improvements to the Dynasty view.
  • Military Improvements allowing you to attach armies to your main force and prevent raising levies in a province beyond its supply limit.
  • Siberian Paganism added to the game as a new Faith.
  • Ugly characters now have more exaggerated facial features.
  • Changes to rules and options. Nudity is now a game setting, not a rule. The rule set can now be configured to affect the frequency of AI matrilineal marriages.

The Crusader Kings III Ruler Designer feature and other changes will be automatically added to the game once you have completed the newest update. For more information, please see the patch notes here.

Crusader Kings III is available for a suggested retail price of $49.99/ £41.99/ €49.99 on Steam, the Paradox Store, and other major online retailers.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Review

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate

Developer: NetherRealm Studios
Publisher: Warner Bros
Platforms: Xbox OnePlayStation 4Nintendo SwitchPC (Reviewed)
Release Date: 17 Nov 2020
Price: $59,99 USD – Available Here

Overview

Aside from being an escape from the horrible reality of 2020, another good thing about video games is that they often let us reenact our imaginary scenarios. Ever wondered who would win in a fight of John Rambo vs Terminator? Or maybe Terminator vs Robocop? Two of our childhood robots just having a go at each other. Why am I telling you all of this? Well, the latest release of Mortal Kombat 11 lets us try out these scenarios and much much more. Since the release of the base game, Mortal Kombat 11 added a bunch of DLC fighters, some from the Mortal Kombat universe and some as the guest characters from other franchises. There’s no Batman to pick, but you can play as Spawn and rip Joker’s guts out as revenge for crowbarring Robin back in the days. That and many more fantasy scenarios to play through. Now let’s unwrap this package of new fighters and story content to see how it holds up.

Story

And by saying “much much more” above, I mean a pretty lengthy story campaign, an expansion story, and a roster of 37 fighters to choose from. I talked about Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath here but just to sum things up, the base story of Mortal Kombat 11 is a lot about time travel and a new villain Kronika trying to meddle into everyone’s plans. Thanks to the time travel plot, we also (finally) get an explanation of how you can have two Raidens fighting each other or two Scorpions and so on. The expansion story brings us a new (also an old) villain Shang Tsung warning everyone of imminent danger while trying to use that for his own nefarious schemes. After all, it is what he does best. And after you are done with both story campaigns, you can enjoy a huge selection of old and new fighters in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, notably Robocop, Terminator, John Rambo, Joker, and Spawn. Of course, you also have a selection of some new DLC fighters from the huge history of Mortal Kombat, such as Mileena, Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Rain, and Sindel.

Gameplay

One thing I did before getting my hands on Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate was playing the previous entry in the franchise – Mortal Kombat X. And only then did I see the true brilliance of this game. Despite being 5 years apart, the previous game still runs horribly, with washed-out colors and unimaginative brutalities and fatalities. While over here, in my 90 hours of playtime so far, I never had any fights dipping below 60 FPS. The colors are also vibrant with beautifully done stage backgrounds and gruesome fatalities. It would also be unfair to mention stages without mentioning the new addition of stage fatalities (added in Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath update) and friendship finishers. The combos are easier to learn but it will take some time to master them into a huge unbreakable combo chain.

Visuals

In this edition of the game (I’m trying to avoid saying the ultimate one), aside from a huge player roster, you also get a huge selection of character skins Some are there at the start, some earned through crypt events, and some through towers of time battles. In any case, it’s impossible to notice any traces of laziness or shoddy work in any of them. They’re incredibly detailed, with multiple color variations and customizations. So on top of running incredibly smooth and being well optimized, the game looks amazing. Some stages will be common picks for versus battles and the details of enemy guts, brains, and bones during fatalities will make you learn a thing or two about human anatomy.

Audio

Mortal Kombat franchise was always known for putting astounding work into sound effects, voice acting, and music and Mortal Kombat 11 really emphasizes all of that. This time, you can select different announcers for the matches (such as Shao Khan, Johnny Cage, and Raiden). But what really always catches me unprepared is the sound variety that went into breaking someone’s bones, ripping out spines, heads, slicing them up, stabbing them, and every other body damage that you can think of.

Overall

It’s expected now from publishers and developers to pick a name with a flair for their updated or remastered version of the games. Sometimes it is the ultimate or complete or definite or absolute but sadly, I would often find that such titles are quite overblown compared to the content (or lack of one) that I get in such releases. I’m happy to say that Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate doesn’t go with that sad bunch. For a reasonable price, you get two huge story campaigns, an enormous player roster combining the best of the new and old generations of Mortal Kombat fighters, and a neverending selection of towers of time battles – the perfect way for earning new skins, augments, and brutalities. For all the patient gamers out there, your wait finally paid off. Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is your perfect choice to sink countless hours into customizing your favorite fighters while spilling many pints of the blood of your enemies. There is even an achievement for doing that, so what are you waiting for? As one wise Mortal Kombat combatant would say, “get over here!”. See you in the arena, folks!

Practitioners must contend with morbid mortals afflicted by a myriad of maladies, with more than 600 real illnesses, symptoms, tests, and treatments found throughout 24 medical cases. Doctors can diagnose symptoms, detect diseases, and employ treatment to save patients through 20+ hour single-player campaigns where doctors can Choose life or death.

Bio Inc serves not just pious practitioners with the Choose Life campaign, but also malevolent medics with Choose Death mode. Commit grievous violations of the Hippocratic Oath by inflicting disease and pestilence on patients. Treat or torment bobblehead versions of celebrities and political figures through the use of secret codes at the patient name screen.

Bio Inc. Redemption is the only game where you can give a dictator a venereal disease,” says J-F Mitchell, president, DryGin Studios. “The team put a lot of work into bringing the same great experience from the Steam version to touchscreen devices, and we’re ready for a new generation of doctors to enter the operating room.”

Bio Inc. Redemption releases on Tuesday, Dec. 8, for the App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android as a free download with in-app purchases. The game supports English, French, German, and Russian language text.
