Evolution: Climate Heats Up Nintendo Switch, Steam on 14 July

Evolution: Climate Heats Up Nintendo Switch, Steam on 14 July

KENSINGTON, MD — 27 May 2021 — Evolution: Climate, the bundle containing Evolution Board Game and its Climate expansion offering game-changing weather events and mighty temperature shifts, will launch on Nintendo Switch™ as well as Steam for Windows PC and Mac on Wednesday 14 July 2021. Owners of Evolution Board Game can upgrade to this ultimate edition by purchasing the Climate expansion separately as a DLC.

With more than 3 million players worldwide already enjoying Evolution across physical and digital editions, Climate continues North Star Digital Studios’ tradition of bringing in-house tabletop titles to the screen in its trademark overpolished and wonderfully animated style.

Based on the award-winning board game hailed by tabletop critics as “the pinnacle of the series” and “perfectly thematic and incredibly satisfying,” Climate brings the realities of harsh weather conditions, with temperatures swinging between Scorching Hot and Ice Ages and affecting creatures big and small in different ways, to the Evolution game system.

Peel back new layers of strategy as species must adapt not just for food availability and defense against predators but also to survive in extreme heat or cold. Weather the storm of powerful climatic events from Wildfires to Meteorites capable of drastically changing the outcome of a match.

Climate offers 6 new Traits to help creatures adapt, illustrated with gorgeous hand-painted artwork in near-infinite combinations. Create species capable of staving off hungry predators or surviving a deadly Ice Age. Sacrifice trait cards to influence the climate meter and create a hospitable environment for your own species while making things more difficult for your opponents to survive.

Climate’s mechanics add another dimension of strategy to really fill out the experience with more depth than Evolution has on its own. Add in catastrophic events with disastrous consequences creating emergent narratives and it’s a whole new game,” said Scott Rencher, co-founder of North Star Digital Studios. “Combined with an extensive array of features offering everything digital board game fans could ask for, Climate really is the complete package.”

Key new features for Climate include:

  • Adapt species for sweltering heat and blistering cold with 6 new survival traits
  • Sacrifice trait cards with sun or snowflake icons to influence the Climate Track, creating favorable conditions for your own species and killing off opponents wildlife
  • Prepare for randomized events that activate at certain points on the climate track, upending gameplay and forcing new strategies to survive

Face off locally or online* against friends and skill-based matchmade opponents with cross play between the Nintendo Switch and PC versions of Evolution: Climate. Private games as well as real-time, asynchronous, and pass-and-play modes offer a variety of options to play together locally and online.

The Evolution: Climate bundle arrives on Nintendo Switch and Steam on 14 July 2021. Purchase it for $24.99 on Nintendo Switch and $19.99 on Steam or get the Climate expansion by itself for $9.99 on each platform. Play Climate, and now Evolution, in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Thai, Swedish, Danish, Chinese (Simplified), Portuguese or Dutch.

3D Realms’ Hexen-Inspired GRAVEN Enters Steam Early Access

3D Realms’ Hexen-Inspired GRAVEN Enters Steam Early Access

AALBORG, Denmark — May 26, 2021 — GRAVEN, the dark-fantasy action-adventure FPS co-published by 3D Realms and 1C Entertainment and developed by Slipgate Ironworks, launches onto Early Access today via Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store and other digital platforms. GRAVEN will launch fully on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch in 2022.

Tear through eldritch terrors unleashed by heretical sects and demented sinners as a disgraced Priest of the Orthogonal Order. Unjustly exiled for attacking a fellow brother upon witnessing an evil act, the Priest now follows a mission ordained by The Creator: root out the evils corrupting not just the Order, but creation itself.

Steam Early Access begins the journey with the first of three planned regions: Cruxfirth, a rotting swamptown suffering from a plague that ends either in death or violent madness. Inspired by classic shooters, immersive sims, and action RPGs, GRAVEN encourages exploration and creativity with multiple ways to take on puzzles and combat alike.

Arrive by boat with a single coin, a strange staff, and a journal, still wounded by the order’s punishment. Slay an expansive bestiary with more than 30 distinct enemies including winged abominations and horrid swamp beasts. Wield the spellbook to unleash transformative magic like lightning and melting heat, each capable of affecting the environment to solve puzzles and uncover hidden areas.

Tap into righteous fury with conventional weaponry like wrist-mounted crossbows, flails, and the peat launcher, a crude but effective explosive. Discover and purchase more than 20 planned weapons, spells, and new staff crystals that grant new abilities at full launch.

Early Access includes new quests in Cruxfirth, and multiple updates throughout the year will add additional areas, quests, enemies, and hidden secrets. Further down the line, the Priest shall no longer roam alone: GRAVEN will add split-screen co-op and online play for up to four players.

“For 3D Realms, Early Access has been instrumental in making sure we make the best possible games for fans of classic titles like Hexen,” said Frederik Schreiber, vice president of 3D Realms and Game Director on Graven. “The reception to GRAVEN’s demo at Steam Game Festival floored us, and now Early Access will bring even more depth to Cruxfirth.”

GRAVEN is available now via Steam Early Access, GOG, and Epic Games Store for $24.99 USD / 20.99 EUR / 19.99 GBP with a 10% discount for the first week and will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2022.      “On behalf of D3Publisher and creators, I am excited to bring a fresh look to the newest EDF game for fans of the series and new players alike,” said Nobuyuki Okajima, Producer at D3PUBLISHER and Creator of the EDF series. “With EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: WORLD BROTHERS, our goal was to create an EDF experience that can be enjoyed by the fans who are familiar with the EDF series along with a new generation of players who never had a chance to save our Mother Earth – and I hope everyone enjoys the new chapter alongside their friends in the fight to bring a broken Earth back to one Peace!

In a parallel universe where everything is in 3D voxel art, a new battlefield has taken the stage in the EDF series. Voxel Earth is falling apart into square pieces, breaking its blocky peace, as alien invaders in large motherships have caused a catastrophic rift in their massive attack. With the world in turmoil from an alien attack by enemies from the EDF series, the player and the “EARTH DEFENSE FORCE” must rise to the occasion and save the day to restore a shattered Voxel Earth to one peace.

Within this new universe of EDF where everything is displayed in voxel art, an art form with 3D models constructed together from 3D cubes, players will be taking the fight to various voxel-formed landmark battlefields with inspirations from America, United Kingdom, Japan, Egypt, and more in the span of the war for survival. Players can expect access to a massive selection of memorable EDF legendary soldier classes and weapons, ranging from the original numbered “EARTH DEFENSE FORCE” series all the way up to EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 5 along with the additional spin-off EDF series of EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: INSECT ARMAGEDDON and EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: IRON RAIN. On top of recruiting and utilizing all of the iconic EDF soldier classes and weapons in the EDF series, players can look forward to recruiting dozens of new characters to discover all over Voxel Earth as local EDF members known as “Brothers” and “Sisters,” like the Cowboy Brother or Maid Sister, as some of the new recruits to enlist! There are over 100 new members for players to find in EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: WORLD BROTHERS for endless combinations of skill sets, personalities, and abilities to best tackle the mission at hand.

Though players can save the world in the campaign solo with AI teammates, they can also enlist with friends in 4-player online Co-op Play on each platform; however, the game does not support cross-platform play. Players can also look forward to playing offline with two-player split-screen only on the PS4™ system and four-player LAN Co-op exclusively for the Nintendo Switch™ system, which requires players and their friends to each have their own Nintendo Switch™ and copy of the game.

EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: WORLD BROTHERS key features include:

  • Voxel World’s EDF: Expect the world of EDF in a whole new voxel art look with a family-friendly appeal, all filled with the same swarms of aliens and invaders for players to exterminate within the EDF series
