Action rescue platformer Firegirl announced during Guerilla Collective

Rescue civilians caught in epic blazes this Fall on PC and consoles

Gothenburg, Sweden – June 14th, 2021 – Thunderful Publishing Dejima Games are thrilled to announce that Firegirl, its action rescue platformer with roguelite elements is coming this Fall to PC (Steam®), Nintendo Switch™, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®4  and PlayStation®5.

In Firegirl you take on the role of a young fire rescue officer breathing new life into her rundown local fire station. Armed with your trusty axe and high-pressure fire hose that doubles as a jetpack, you’ll respond to emergency calls across a procedurally generated city.

When Firegirl arrives on the scene, she has 3 minutes to save all civilians caught in the blaze! Feats of bravery and other gameplay features can be leveraged to extend your rescue time, ensuring you complete your mission. Uncover the truth of why these fires have engulfed the city, in a mystery that goes all the way to the top!

Douse roaring flames, chop through obstacles, extinguish dastardly pyro-monsters, and use your hose to boost your jumps and reach high places to find all sorts of extra goodies. Hang out at the Firehouse between missions to upgrade your equipment, hire new staff, pay any bills you’ve accrued, and hear from your ever-growing fanbase after your heroic exploits. Working at a top fire rescue station isn’t a cake walk, and you’ll need all the help you can get to prepare for the next fires about to break out!

Firegirl fuses retro and modern sensibilities, mixing pixel art with 3D visuals and next-gen rendering techniques like dynamic lighting to create a wholly unique look and feel.

“Firefighting is such a thrilling setup to create our vision of an action rescue platformer,” said Dejima founder Julien Ribassin. “We wanted to capture the sense of imminent danger that comes facing this natural disaster and translate it into a whimsical arcade adventure. Although the players will come face to face roaring blazes and fire-monsters, the goal is rescuing and helping survivors. Firegirl was designed with both newcomers and veterans to the genre of action platformers in mind, and we can’t wait for people to try it out for themselves when it launches this Fall.” “We’re always on the lookout for new, exciting games at Thunderful and Firegirl is right up our alley,” said Thunderful’s Head of Publishing, Dieter Schoeller. “It takes the seemingly simple concept of fighting fires and makes it utterly captivating. It’s the perfect pick up and play title, offering a zippy arcade twist on rescuing people from an environmental disaster.”

See how the world of Wild West Dynasty is made, crafted from bricks, clay and digital grit

Take a look into the process of crafting Wild West Dynasty’s world in this making-of featurette

June 14th, 2021 – Toplitz Productions and Virtual Magic Games invite players to take an early look at how the upcoming sandbox survival adventure Wild West Dynasty is being built. Turns out that the secret to making an inspiring landscape is that human touch. Before a single polygon is rendered, Virtual Magic Games map out each of the biomes – from mountain ranges to river valleys – using modelling blocks. See how it’s done in the exclusive trailer below.

With this plastic landscape laid out, the next phase is scanning it, smoothing those rough edges and making sure the scale feels right in 3D. With that done, it’s back to the real world, 3D printing the skeleton of the landscape, then layering it over with modelling clay. Virtual Magic’s team handcraft every major crag, mesa and boulder, giving the world a truly hand-crafted feel, before scanning it all once more and beginning the detailing process.

In comes the digital art team, texturing the landscape, adding organic lighting and then filling in the gaps with everything from wind-swept trees, rock piles from ancient landslides, tenacious desert greenery growing in the shade and plenty more. It’s a long, complex process, but Virtual Magic Games think it’s worth the effort. After all, this is where you’ll be settling down.

The stage is set, and the sun rises over this harsh but beautiful landscape. What will you build here when Wild West Dynasty launches in 2022, and what will your legacy be? Saddle up and wishlist the game on Steam now.

Features:

  • Experience the Wild West in a detailed first-person simulation
  • Live through twists, turns and drama across a multitude of missions
  • Build a town without the pressures of plot in Free Play mode
  • A massive open-world Wild West landscape to explore
  • Start with a run-down ranch, and expand it into a thriving town
  • First-person RPG, Life Sim, Survival and Town Builder genres combined
  • Horses, of course – no western would be complete without them
  • Define yourself with a flexible skill tree, and become the cowboy of your dreams
  • Mine for gold, ride at the rodeo, and plenty more pastimes to experience

Go behind the scenes with mystical VR survival adventure Song in the Smoke

New documentary offers a look at the earthly inspirations behind the GALAK-Z developer’s next game

Kyoto, Japan, June 14th, 2021 – Japanese gaming documentarian studio Archipel has released an all new video looking behind the scenes with acclaimed indie developer 17-BIT (GALAK-Z, Skulls of the Shogun), offering a first look at the studio’s upcoming VR survival adventure Song in the Smoke. An abridged version of this 9 minute documentary, The Call of Nature, premiered during Upload VR’s Showcase, and the full version can be viewed right here:

Coming to PlayStation VR, Oculus Quest and Oculus Rift this year, Song in the Smoke immerses players in a mysterious prehistoric world full of strange beasts where they must craft, forage, hunt, and fight to survive.

Song in the Smoke utilizes VR to its full potential, allowing players to expertly identify threats with sound, sight, and smell. Use the world to your advantage, and stalk your prey from the tall grass. Intuitive VR controls let you line up the perfect shot with your bow, but be careful to listen out for the creatures that may be hunting you, or else you’ll have to fight for your life with clubs, sticks, or anything else you can get your hands on.

With art by famed illustrator Katsuya Terada (The Legend of Zelda, Blood: The Last Vampire, The Monkey King), Song in the Smoke creates a primordial wilderness unlike any other. Part survival game and part mysterious adventure, Song in the Smoke’s fantastical creatures and stylized scenery lend an eerie, otherworldly tone to an experience that’s both action-packed and intimate.

Song in the Smoke is a colossal departure from our previous work,” said 17-BIT founder and creative lead Jake Kazdal. “When I first tried VR I was instantly struck by how utterly immersive it is, which opened up a whole new world of possibilities. I’ve always been moved by exploring nature, with its overwhelming mix of majesty and danger, where you’re constantly reminded of both how expansive the world is and how small you are. With VR’s all encompassing presentation, I felt like I could actually make a world that captures this quietly beautiful feeling of aliveness. Where nothing is canned and everything feels organic. Song in the Smoke is the result of this.”

HELL LET LOOSE HEADING TO PLAYSTATION®5 & XBOX SERIES X|S AS PC EDITION PREPARES FOR 27TH JULY LAUNCH

The online World War II strategic first-person shooter from Black Matter and Team17 counts down to D-Day, the liberation of Europe, and the infamous Eastern Front battles of Kursk and Stalingrad.

Monday, 14th June 2021 – Team17 and Black Matter have today announced that online strategic first-person shooter, Hell Let Loose, will launch on Steam for PC on 27th July, with a release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S to follow later in 2021. Set during World War II, in addition to the nine key Western Front battles available right now in Early Access (including the D-Day beach landings at Utah and Omaha, Carentan, and Foy) Hell Let Loose’s release onto PC next month will introduce Russian forces and two new large urban maps set in the Eastern Front: Kursk and Stalingrad.

Unravel the horrors of war with the new Hell Let Loose video:

Hell Let Loose delivers an authentic reenactment of the large-scale chaos of war, where individuals are cogs working together to turn the tide of battle. As the fight unfolds, the two sides work to secure crucial supply chains for resources, capture sectors across the map that influences the outcome of the fight, sweep across battlefields in armoured tanks, or disable defenses with artillery bombardment. Strategic gameplay and communication is critical to winning a battle; both sides are split into 10 squads of five players, each squad led by an officer who reports to a single commander who ultimately develops the path to victory – or takes responsibility for bloody defeat.

Hell Let Loose key features:

  • Experience authentic, strategic gameplay: Fight in epic 50 vs 50 multiplayer battles across two distinct game modes, Offensive and Warfare;
  • Battle across both European theatres: Fight across 11 authentically recreated maps, including two on the Eastern Front. On the Western Front land at Omaha or Utah Beaches, fight through Carentan and into the frozen forests of Foy before climbing Hill 400
  • Discover and master your role in battle: Choose from 14 unique roles, including officer, medic, machinegunner, commander, tank crewman, sniper and more
  • Immersive gameplay: Authentic ballistics and recoil patterns create satisfying, skillful gunplay
  • Fortifications and vehicles: Build defenses on the battlefield to strengthen positions, or take control of an array of World War II era vehicles, including the Sherman and Tiger tanks
