RiMS Racing is available now in Europe and on August 24 in North America!

Lesquin,  France, August 19, 2021 –  NACON and RaceWard Studio are pleased to celebrate the launch of RiMS Racing, a brand-new motorbike game concept, available now on PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC in Europe and on August 24th in North America. The experts from Italian studio RaceWard have developed a game that gives players an unparalleled experience, blending driving and mechanics, pushing the limits of realism and customization.

Discover the new launch trailer :

RaceWard has included 8 of the fastest motorbikes in the world: the Kawasaki Ninja ZX10 RR, Aprilia RSV4, BMW M1000 RR, Ducati Panigale V4R, Honda CBR1000 RR, MV Agusta F4 RC, Suzuki GSXR-1000 and the Yamaha YZF R1. The motorbikes have been reproduced in the game with peerless detail and realism, and you will have to maintain and upgrade them through the innovative gameplay, which blends mechanical precision with the sheer thrill of driving.

Racing conditions, riding style and mechanical status of the components have a direct impact on the motorbike’s behaviour. By taking the customisation to its most extreme level and thanks to a physics system offering unmatched precision, RiMS Racing highlights the connexion between each part and puts mechanics at the very core of the gameplay.

To ensure victory, players are able to fully disassemble their motorbike and replace every element to achieve the best possible setup by choosing over 500 official components: tyres, discs, callipers, pads, suspension, springs, air filters, exhausts, brake and clutch master cylinders, brake fluids, engine oils, ECUs, fairings… and many more.

The player uses different tools to identify the mechanical components that can be upgraded, such as the Motorbike Status Check (MSC), which provides a real-time analysis of the motorbike’s status and performance. Players are at the controls and select, handle and integrate each required component in the driver’s HQ, in a brand-new gameplay feature.

Throughout a career divided into seasons, with each season comprised of over 70 events, and during the many challenges available in multiplayer, RiMS Racing promises complete immersion in the world of competition, where victory depends equally on your driving skills and your motorbike.

Disciples: Liberation Preview

Disciples: Liberation

Developer: Frima Studio
Publisher: Kalypso Media
Platform: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Windows (Previewed)
Release Date: 21 October 2021
Pre-order Price: $39.99 USD/$56.95 AUD – Available Here

Rebooting a beloved franchise that hasn’t seen a new title in years is always a tough balancing act. On one hand, developers need to satisfy the most die-hard fans who have waited a long time to see a new title from their favourite franchise. On the other hand, developers also need to attract new fans who may demand a more modernized game.

Disciples is one of those tricky series where developers must walk that fine line. Disciples 2: Dark Prophecy still has a very dedicated and active fan base that continue to play and create content for a game released in 2002. These fans have been waiting a very long time for a true successor to the beloved game. On the other hand, Kalypso has been sitting on the franchise for the last nine years after Disciples 3: Reincarnation’s less than stellar reception. Now, Kalypso has tasked Frima Studio with the daunting challenge of creating a game that will revive the franchise and drag it into the modern era.  The result of this project is Disciples: Liberation.

Before progressing any further, it is only fair to admit that I am a newcomer to the franchise and will be viewing this game through that lens. Coming into this preview, the most I knew about the previous titles is the hardcore fanbase around Disciples 2 that persists to today and Disciples: Liberation is turning out to be a very different game.

Disciples: Liberation is a strategic turn-based RPG with some light city building and unit management. The gameplay loop consists of wandering around the overworld, getting into fights, and returning to the city to build new structures, research new spells, and replace fallen units.

The overworld maps are the usual RPG mix of main quests, side quests, dungeon entrances, and treasure hidden off the beaten path. The resource gathering through pick ups littered around the world and capturing resource production buildings strays a little from the standard RPG. All these resources will be needed to create new units and buildings in the city building phase. Players are free to wander around as they please, a break from the Disciples franchise. For better or for worse, there’s nothing special about Disciples: Liberation’s overworld, making it a good candidate for improvement in the future.

The city building is a peripheral mechanic in Disciples: Liberation so far. It is a very simple system where players pay resources to add buildings in a set number of slots. Each building can generate units or provide some helpful service. There are more buildings there are slots, so players need to organize their city based on the units the players want to take into combat. I like the mechanic that lets players put buildings not needed at this exact moment in storage for a small fee instead of charging the player the full price for constructing the building from scratch. It allows players to quickly cycle in different unit types with only a small extra cost.

The RPG mechanics isn’t so much simplified but cut down to make the game more manageable. Instead of fretting over every named character in the game, Avyanna is the focus. Players will manage her skills, armour, weapons, and shards. For other named characters, players only worry about their weapon and shards, while generic units only have shards. I can see why the developers opted for this set up as Avyanna’s deep skill tree with plenty of pre-requisites needs a good bit of planning, even though respecs are available for a fee.

The combat is Disciples: Liberation’s strongest offering. It’s a tactical turn-based RPG that’s meant to feel a bit like an army with a team of named characters rounded out with relatively disposably generic units who can die permanently. Avyanna serves as the core of the team with the greatest degree of flexibility in combat with her giant list of spells and access to an actual skill tree. On the other hand, the remaining characters have a strict niche they are serving. The action point system is the best part of combat. Each action is organized by one of three colours. Each character has two points of varying colours, restricting the player’s overall options. The restriction is what makes Disciples stand out so far as it forces players to make interesting tactical decisions when building an army and during combat.

Quality of life features is Disciples: Liberation’s weakest point and will need work before the game releases. The key bind options are incredibly sparse. Some of the key binds either break from convention or could be more efficient using different keys. When it comes to binds, player choice is always superior. It is also impossible to only play with only a mouse. Basic functions like backing out of a menu has to be done using the keyboard. It’s an irritation that could easily be solved by making the icons indicating the key and action to be interactable.

Fans of old Disciples games are going to be disappointed, one look at YouTube comments and forums show the discontent has already started before Disciples: Liberation has even released. This game is a completely different beast, so I can understand why old fans are raking Frima Studio and Kalypso over the coals. For new entrants of the franchise, Disciples: Liberation looks like an intriguing option for fans of turn based RPGs. Itis turning out to be a pretty good game. The combat is really enjoyable, and all the mechanics mesh together well. There are still parts that need some polish before the game releases. I can already see Frima Studio has some options can be built upon in future expansion packs. Unfortunately, this is at the cost of old, hardcore fans who have not taken the changes lightly so far. Whether the new game will be able to sway the opinions of old fans who are willing to give the new game a chance or create enough of a new fanbase to stick with the new vision is the million dollar question for Kalypso and Frima Studio in the coming months.

Summary

It’s not the game Disciples game long time fans wanted by any means, but Liberation is looking like a solid game on its own right. The combat is solid and the mechanics mesh well.

New Kart Krash Go-Kart Mode Comes To GTA Online, Pfister Growler LS Tuners Car, and More

Kart Krash: Full Auto Now Available

Plus the New Pfister Growler, Double Rewards for the Exotic Exports List, and More

Go-karts are wonderful inventions: like cars, but smaller, and with less stringent safety regulations. For example, there’s nothing in the legal rulebook prohibiting you from mounting a machine-gun to the front of a Dinka Veto and letting it loose on your rivals, is there? Didn’t think so. Our ancestors could not fathom such a glorious idea, let alone forbid it.

Kart Krash: Full Auto introduces a new flavor of carnage to GTA Online. Players fight to be the last one surviving in teams or chaotic free-for-alls, using the weapons attached to their go-karts and assorted power-ups scattered about the map to take their opponents out.

All competitors will enjoy 2X GTA$ and RP in Kart Krash: Full Auto this week, so get out there and give them hell on four tiny wheels.

Available Now: The Pfister Growler
Have you spotted it yet? There’s something exceptional prowling round Los Santos. They say it sprints like a cheetah and purrs like an African bush elephant in heat. It must be the indomitable Pfister Growler, available now from Legendary Motorsport.

2X GTA$ and RP for Returning Cars on the Exotic Exports List

Auto Shop owners who return cars on the Exotic Exports List will receive 2X GTA$ and RP in return for their services, including on bonus payments for completing the entire list. Visit the blackboard by the Office upstairs in your Auto Shop to see which vehicles need to be re-possessed.

2X GTA$ and RP on Convenience Store Robberies

Pixelated surveillance camera footage recently revealed a robber sticking up cashiers of local businesses from behind the wheel of a go-kart. To celebrate their ingenuity and criminal ambition, thieves who complete Convenience Store Robberies will walk away with double the usual GTA$ and RP. The go-kart part is optional, though encouraged.

Car Meet Prize Ride and Challenge

Members who place in the Top 5 in 10 LS Car Meet Series Races (either Pursuit or Street) this week will drive away with the Vapid Dominator GTT, an archetypical muscle car unafraid to dabble in performance enhancement.

Test Out New and Unreleased Cars on the Test Track

Before you pull the trigger on your next impulse buy, give it a whirl around the columns of the LS Car Meet’s very own test track. This week, Members can test out the yet-to-be released Karin Sultan RS Classic, the brand-new Pfister Growler, and the Vulcar Warrener HKR, all at no personal cost. Challenge your friends (or foes) to a Scramble or race against the clock in a Time Trial to see what these babies can really do.

This Week on the Podium: The Dinka Veto Modern

The Diamond Casino & Resort is offering up a Dinka Veto Modern atop the podium this week. Give the Lucky Wheel a spin for the opportunity to ride off into the sunset on a gas-guzzling deathtrap that’s hardly street legal — or walk away with GTA$, RP, clothing, mystery prizes, and more.

Discounts:
Those looking to get in on all that diminutive automotive mayhem above can do so by taking 30% off the cost of the Dinka Veto Classic, as well as a range of other vehicles in all shapes and sizes. See below for the complete list of vehicles and their respective discounts below.

  • Karin Futo GTX — 30% off
  • Dinka Veto Classic — 30% off

GTA$100K just for playing any time this week.

Fractured Veil Erupts With PvPvE Chaos in Paradise

Fractured Veil Erupts With PvPvE Chaos in Paradise

Available Q2 2022 Via Steam Early Access

SEATTLE — 20 Aug. 2021 — Fractured Veil, the survival game set in a future Hawaii ravaged by sun, sand and savagery from Paddle Creek Games, highlights the mutants, multiverse, and massive interconnected maps that will create an unparalleled experience for both PvP and PvE on PC via Steam Early Access in 2022.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6yqTbP01v4

Core Features:

  • Hawaiian lore and unique Hawaiian weapons
  • Mutant siege system with base destruction
  • Multiverse travel between servers with distinct biomes and weather systems
  • In-depth base building and tiered crafting system
  • NPC Settlements with PvE, and PvP elements
  • RPG-inspired Player Progression

Fractured Veil’s dynamic world will support hundreds of concurrent players across a sprawling map with procedural weather effects, locations to uncover, and more. Also planned is the server-hopping Veil Travel system, which will allow seamless transportation to different servers for resource-collecting runs and exploratory missions. Expanded community-driven systems, including player-run settlements and more will be added throughout Early Access.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKxCZtVsaA8

Fractured Veil is a beautiful amalgamation of the traditional survival and MMO genres,” said Ryan Wianko, Project Director and Co-founder of Paddle Creek Games. “Balancing the PvP and PvE aspects of the game allows us to cater to all sorts of players and create a dynamic—and chaotic—world. Our goal from day one has been to focus on our community and push the boundaries of survival games by blending aspects of MMOs, RPGs, and Survival Games!

After a devastating transportation system malfunction threw the world into an apocalyptic wasteland, Maui’s iconic white-sand beaches traded tourists for horrifying mutants. Human survivors, though scarce, were left with few options outside of seeking shelter, rebuilding some semblance of society, and fighting back against mutants and nefarious humans alike. It wasn’t long before the survivors realized they couldn’t die, returning as a clone each time their hearts stopped beating.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8npNmYF-pU

Trapped in an endless loop of a precarious existence, Fractured Veil’s vision of a Hawaiian post-apocalypse presents a multiplayer survival experience that caters to both PvP and PvE-focused players. Collecting resources, crafting, and fighting to stay alive are core tenets of survival games, but in Fractured Veil, creatingcommunity as well as deep player and story progression are valid paths forward.

Adventure alone or explore in a group, fighting from the beaches and pushing inland before laying down a small base of operations. Craft a humble 2×2 shack to call home, but choose its location wisely because a ramshackle thatch building may draw unwanted attention from mutants or other players. Gather resources to create upgrades, craft spearguns, blades, and more, fortifying the base’s defenses to survive the night.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-vrAEAokBM

Race toward NPC-controlled outposts where trading vendors and quests await. Take on missions from the island’s remaining residents set across numerous points of interest. Trade experience for skill points, unlocking abilities and bonuses in different disciplines to build a custom survivor fit for any playstyle. Dive deep into dungeons to get the best loot for end-game upgrades, but be wary, as fiendish mutants are never far away.

Hide from Big Bob, a twisted creature who once served as a famous line cook. Big Bob’s DNA infected other mutants, creating the Butchers, a species that overwhelmed survivors while chopping away at their limbs. Avoid the Green Lady, a nocturnal half-plant hybrid who commands a legion of Stalkers that specialize in hit-and-run tactics against the underprepared. With the ever-present threat of mutants, it’s best to turn neighbors into allies instead of enemies.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_gEtJyWIxM

Fractured Veil will be available on PC via Steam Early Access in 2022. A Kickstarter campaign is planned for Tuesday, September 7, 2021. For more information on Fractured Veil, visit the official website, wishlist on Steam, and follow the Kickstarter Campaign.

SCORING MARVEL’S GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: ORIGINAL ROCK, AN EPIC ORCHESTRA, AND ‘80s CLASSICS

SCORING MARVEL’S GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: ORIGINAL ROCK, AN EPIC ORCHESTRA, AND ‘80s CLASSICS

Prepare to have your face melted as Eidos-Montréal’s Senior Audio Director explains how the team crafted a killer eclectic soundtrack that turns gameplay up to 11

SYDNEY (August 20, 2021) Today Eidos-Montréal has released a new developer insight video that reveals further information on the inspiration and talent behind Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack. It also details how ‘80s pop and rock masterpieces are expertly melded with gameplay to create an innovative in-game mechanic, the Huddle.

Watch the dev insight video on music here

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy brings together three distinct musical styles in its soundtrack: an epic orchestral score, an all-star mixtape of licensed ‘80s tracks, and an original rock album created just for the game. Behind-the-scenes commentary from Steve Szczepkowski, Senior Audio Director at Eidos-Montréal, describes how he and his team fused these elements to create a unique musical experience and influence a gameplay mechanic.

Steve Szczepkowski says: “Music is intrinsic to the Guardians’ franchise, and we wanted to make it focal to the gameplay experience. The soundtrack is infused in the DNA of the game, and our use of it goes far beyond usual expectations. Whether it’s powering up combat in the Huddle or bringing Star-Lord’s favourite band to life, every element was carefully woven into the lore to enhance the story of this rock and roll band of misfits.”

Steve reveals how the sweeping orchestral score, written by BAFTA-nominated composer Richard Jacques, brings an epic, cinematic quality to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Recorded at London’s famous Abbey Road Studios, the score features close to six hours of original music to carry players through their heroic and often emotional journey across the galaxy. Great care has been taken to blend the score with other genres of music featured in the game to ensure the transition from blockbuster orchestral moment to licensed hit is seamless during gameplay.

In selecting licensed music to compliment Eidos-Montréal’s vision of the Guardians, Steve explains that fun was the most important factor. Designed to transport players back to the ‘80s, an impressive selection of pop and rock hits from the decade feature throughout the game at carefully chosen points. Tracks include music from Iron Maiden, KISS, New Kids On The Block, Rick Astley, Hot Chocolate and more, with plenty still to be revealed.

The unique Huddle feature takes the licensed soundtrack further by utilising select songs during combat. Players can hit play on Star-Lord’s Cassette Player to cue up a specially chosen ‘80s hit to inspire the Guardians and spur them on while fighting. Steve explains that some of these songs might seem unexpected in such a setting, but the juxtaposition brings an additional element of fun to the combat sequences.

Finally, Steve reveals how he unexpectedly brought a brand-new rock band into this original Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy world. After he was informed that in the game’s narrative, Peter Quill takes the name Star-Lord from his favourite band of the same name, Steve got to work creating Star-Lord the band. An entire album was recorded for the game, featuring original tracks that celebrate the rock and roll, dysfunctional nature of the Guardians family.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will be available on PlayStation®5 console, PlayStation®4 console, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles, and PC digital on October 26, 2021.
