About the Game:

Welcome to Treeplanter, an interactive woodland that grows and changes with the seasons. Piece together a small grove of trees. Watch as their roots blossom under the soil. As time goes by, an ecosystem of animals, plants and birds will move in, turning your creation into their home!

Treeplanter is created by digital artist Henry Driver, previously known for Secrets of the Soil (‘A Spectacular Underground Cosmos’ – Vice). Each copy of the game sold helps Henry plant trees, wildflowers, meadows and community orchards through partnerships with schools, farms, communities and woodland charities. This means you’ll help restore real-life nature, too!! During development last year, Henry planted 900 trees on farms and schools in Suffolk. We’re on track to plant 8000 trees and millions of wildflowers in 2026.

Combining meditation and education, Treeplanter aims to teach players about the interconnected wonders of the natural world, above and below ground.

Background

Treeplanter began as an EU Social Fund project aimed at providing real-life game development opportunities to students. The very first prototype was developed with a diverse team of students aged 18-21, with support from woodland charities, Eastern Education Group, and directed by Henry Driver. Since then it’s toured around the country, including the Youth Climate Conference and Beth Chatto Symposium.

The game is currently being playtested at special educational needs and disabilities charity LEVEL, where it’s presented in an immersive four 4K projector wraparound space. Audiences aged from 5 to 85 are invited to play and give feedback. There are plans underway to take Treeplanter to schools and libraries through an educational licence scheme.

About the developer: Henry Driver is a sixth-generation farmer and digital artist creating video games (using solar energy) to connect players with nature and enable real-world change, including planting hundreds of trees every year on local farms and schools. Driver’s games have been exhibited in Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool, Sainsbury Centre and the Barbican, as well as other festivals and events worldwide. MercurySteam’s dark-fantasy adventure will launch on Steam on May 14^th, with a new demo available today ahead of the Steam Next Fest

The Paws & Claws update takes the age-old question of “what would the greatest warriors potato kind has ever known keep as pets,” and answers with adorable companions and gratuitous firepower. Today’s update introduces a new class of items: Pets. There are nine to discover in all (for the time being), each geared toward different types of builds, from the adorable Bonk Dog that charges enemies, smacking them down with melee damage, to the Catling Gun, which peppers aliens with bullets and fires faster if the player is nearby. Other pets are more function-focused than combat, like the Lootworm that collects materials and destroys trees for the player, or the Scapegoat, which moves around the map and distracts enemies.

To handle all of these new creatures is a brand-new character added for free: the Beast Master. Pets are meant to work best with specific builds, but why not have one character to rule them all? The Beast Master’s entire playstyle revolves around collecting as many pets as possible and setting them loose on the battlefield. Starting with a Lootworm, the Beast Master will be able to choose a damaging Pet amongst Dog, Cat, Bot and Blazemander, and gets a speed bonus for every permanent pet they have and additional damage scaling to pets. The downside? Beast Masters can’t wield any weapons, and they have to pump their pets up with as many buffs as possible to fight off ever-increasing waves of aliens. 

Along with this new content, Evil Empire has also thrown some additional quality of life changes and updates to Brotato’s codex. Fans can look for more great updates this year for Brotato as Evil Empire has partnered with original creator and developer Blobfish to create exciting new content for the roguelite fans know and love.

Featuring new story quests, locations, the JetSki (CS-17 Courier Skimmer), tools resources, customizable ship and major improvements to game performance updates. Additionally, caretakers can now scan deep ocean floors with sonar, Also there is a brand-new biome style with its own questline and new structures to uncover.

Players can step into the shadows as Ayana, the last descendant of a forgotten race, in a stylish sci-fi world where light and darkness are both weapons.
