KALYPSO FOUNDS SECOND STUDIO IN MUNICH

Nine Worlds Studios to work on Tropico 7

Seattle, Wash – September 30, 2021 –  Kalypso Media Group today officially announced that a brand-new development studio explicitly tasked with producing the PC and next-generation console sequel to the Tropico strategy series has begun its preparations to work on the well-known franchise. Nine Worlds Studios is named after the nine worlds of Norse mythology – symbolising the team’s ambition to create new worlds. This symbolism is also reflected in the logo.

Thomas Schneider, previously in a similar position at Aesir Interactive, was hired to set up the studio on site and later as project manager. Nine Worlds Studios is the second Kalypso-owned studio in the tech hub of Munich, Bavaria, alongside the well-known Realmforge Studios (developer of the Dungeons series). The studios share the attractive location with many housing options and transport connections to create workflow synergies between them. The addition of Nine Worlds Studios represents the fifth development studio within the Kalypso Media group of companies.

Simon Hellwig, Managing Director of Kalypso Media Group, said, “We are pleased to announce the establishment of our second studio in Munich. This allows us to use already existing infrastructures between our two studios. We are confident in our ability to ramp up the studio to full size by early next year to start production of Tropico 7.”

Dr. Anika Thun, Managing Director of Kalypso, added, “Due to the fantastic experience we have had with the city of Munich and the general promotion of video games in Bavaria, it was a logical decision to expand in this region. We are now looking for talented team members who want to work on the latest installment of the cult classic series. Candidates with experience in Unreal Engine programming, Unreal Engine technical art, game, level, narrative and mission design, as well as UI/UX, VFX artists, animation specialists and 3D generalists, who are ideally also familiar with the Unreal Engine, are encouraged to apply and join us in Munich.”

Thomas Schneider, Project Manager said, “As Kalypso’s fourth developer studio in Germany, Nine Worlds can draw on a wealth of experience as well as a reliable network, while at the same time becoming part of an environment in which all sides are passionate and actively involved in the development of international brands. I am very pleased to be working with such a strong and renowned company to establish the ambitious Nine Worlds Studios in such a renowned games location as Bavaria.”

Recruitment for the new studio is underway, with vacancies advertised on relevant job boards as well as on the Kalypso Media website.

Reinvent the French Capital in The Architect: Paris, Launching for PC Today

Starting today, you can take up the mantle of an architect to reinvent the city of Paris.

Following Early Access last February and feedback from the community, Enodo Games is proud to launch with the long-awaited new “Career Mode”.

Paris, France – September 30th, 2021. Enodo Games, French indie studio, is proud to announce the official launch of The Architect: Paris for PC, a construction game allowing players to rebuild and reinvent the French capital. Following feedback from the community during Early Access which started in February 2021, the studio has added improvements and new features to the game, as well as a long-awaited Career Mode to offer an optimized gaming experience. The construction game is out today on Steam, Epic and GOG.

In The Architect: Paris, every building that makes up the Parisian urban landscape can be shaped based on one’s will and imagination. Players have the unique opportunity to recreate the City of Lights as they want it thanks to multiple available architectural styles or from their own original designs, re-imagining the city as anything from a business district to a medieval city or a futuristic one. Budding architects will be able to mix historical and modern designs in a detailed simulated city to obtain a customized and authentic vision of Paris.

Following community feedback, Enodo Games has developed a complete “Career” Mode, full of projects and challenges, which also serves as a tutorial to allow players to take ownership of the tools before starting in the “Sandbox” mode and letting their creativity shine. The addition of managerial challenges within the “Career” Mode will see players facing challenges like those facing the true mayor of Paris.

Discover the two playing modes available in The Architect: Paris:

  • The Career Mode, composed of three acts, has players realize 25 projects with specific goals to reach and unlock the next projects as well as the Sandbox mode.
  • The Sandbox Mode offers the city of Paris to build upon without any specific missions, where the players are free to demolish, redraw and rebuild the city at will.

Today, The Architect: Paris is composed of 27 districts that aspiring architects can shape entirely to their will.

In a community spirit, The Architect: Paris offers new project-sharing features which let players import the creations of others into their own game. New architects will be able to take inspiration from shared projects to recreate something original or to integrate iconic buildings directly into their own City of Lights.

The game is also open to mods and the community members can create their own new designs and make them available to all players.

Jean-Baptiste Reynes, CEO of Enodo Games, states: “We are proud to be able to offer an accomplished construction game that gives players the freedom to redraw Paris, and to take on the role of an architect. Since early access, last February, we have developed new features that we hope players will like globally.” He adds: “We count on the feedback of our community tremendously, and this is why we are proud to propose the all new ‘Career’ mode within the game. It adds new challenges and help the players get a grip on the various tools available before they dive into a freer ‘Sandbox’ mode.”

For more information, follow The Architect Paris on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and the game’s Discord channel.

The only limit is your imagination!

About Enodo Games
From Enodo… to Enodo Games

Founded by two architects, the firm Enodo has been developing interactive 3D environments using video game technology for 15 years. These immersive environments allow varied professionals to enjoy unique experiences which are both very powerful and educational. It is thus very naturally that Enodo Games came to be in 2014, when the founders of Enodo decided to reverse their process and to bring to the video game industry the expertise they acquired throughout the years. Being city builders enthusiasts, the team members designed the tools they would have liked to see in other games. The Architect: Paris does not give the possibility of building a city from a catalogue of different pieces of cities but to truly imagine, design and create the future of an existing one.

MONSTER HUNTER RISE CAPTURES PC RELEASE DATE OF JANUARY 12, 2022; DEMO AVAILABLE ON OCTOBER 13

LONDON – Sep. 30, 2021 – The critically-acclaimed, top-selling Monster Hunter™ series reached new heights earlier this year with the global release of Monster Hunter Rise™ on Nintendo Switch™. Receiving widespread praise for its trademark action RPG gameplay, exciting new features, and continued free post-launch support, Monster Hunter Rise is opening the gates of Kamura Village to PC players starting on January 12, 2022. Prior to the full game’s release, a free public demo will be made available on Steam beginning on October 13. In addition to confirming specifics for Monster Hunter Rise on PC, new information was also revealed for all Monster Hunter Rise players including details on upcoming collaboration content and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak™, the monstrous new expansion which will be available simultaneously for Nintendo Switch and PC in summer 2022.

Monster Hunter Rise is the latest installment in the action RPG series and transports players to Kamura Village, a colorful and tranquil setting that attracts visitors with its unique culture and innovative hunting technologies. The core gameplay experience in Monster Hunter Rise stays true to the highly-praised previous Monster Hunter entries, where hunters must equip their armor and select from one of the 14 different weapon types. As players defeat monsters and progress through the game, items carved from fallen foes can be used to craft unique weapons and armor that will increase their chances of future success and survival. Hunters can tackle these challenges solo, or with up to three other hunters in cooperative local or online play.

Monster Hunter Rise evolves the series by introducing several new and exciting mechanics for hunters to master. For the first time in a Monster Hunter game, wire-based grappling actions can be performed by using a “Wirebug” while standing or in mid-air, adding an all-new level of aerial maneuverability to hunting strategies and attacks. Additionally, the game debuts the “Wyvern Riding” technique, which allows players to temporarily take control of a monster and yields spectacular battle sequences during a hunt. Monster Hunter Rise also introduces new hunting partners called Palamutes, personalized and rideable “Canyne” companions that will provide players with a new set of attack options. The “Canyne” Palamute companions join the series favorite “Felyne” Palicoes in assisting players while out on a hunt.

At launch, the full version of Monster Hunter Rise on PC will include all major post-launch content that is available in the Nintendo Switch version through the end of November 2021. More information about future content and timing will be available at a later date. The PC version will feature customizable optimizations, allowing hunters to enjoy their journey in 4K resolution and with ultrawide (21:9 aspect ratio) support, while also offering uncapped framerates and high-resolution textures. Monster Hunter Rise on PC will be available on Steam on January 12, 2022 and is available now for pre-purchase. The game is currently available on Nintendo Switch.

A demo for Monster Hunter Rise on PC will launch on October 13, giving hunters ample time to enjoy a sampling of this new Monster Hunter experience before the full game releases on Steam. The PC demo provides players with numerous hunting options, including offline solo and online multiplayer (up to 4 players) using all 14 weapon types. For new hunters, the PC demo will provide a “Training” option and a “Wyvern Riding” tutorial, each offering useful tips and instructions. When hunters are ready, three different hunting quests and monsters are available to experience, each providing distinct levels of challenge from Beginner (Great Izuchi) to Intermediate (Mizutsune) and Advanced (Magnamalo).

Following the release of Monster Hunter Rise on PC, players of both platform versions can look forward to the newly revealed Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, the monstrous expansion which will be available for purchase to all players in summer 2022. Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak includes a new storyline and new base of operations, as well as new locales, monsters, gameplay features, quest rank (Master), and more. Hunters must own the base game and complete the 7-star Hub Quest called “Serpent Goddess of Thunder” in Monster Hunter Rise before beginning Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. All progress from the base game will transfer over to the expansionwhen played on the same system.

The identity of the eerie new monster featured in the debut trailer for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has been confirmed as Malzeno, a fierce elder dragon who will serve as the expansion’s flagship monster. Also joining the upcoming expansion, Shogun Ceanataur is a returning crab-like monster who first appeared in Monster Hunter 2.

For current Monster Hunter Rise players, a haunting new Capcom Collab was also announced today and will feature the brave knight Arthur from Ghosts ‘n Goblins: Resurrection™. After completing a challenging Event Quest, players can don Arthur’s iconic armor and the hunter’s throwing knives transform into lances, the classic weapon from the legendary series. Music from the recently-released Ghosts n’ Goblins: Resurrection will provide a backdrop to the heroic hunting action, and when a quest is completed as Arthur, a special cutscene will be bestowed upon its victors. This special collaboration quest will be available for Switch players beginning on October 28.

Finally, and also first revealed today, Monster Hunter is teaming up with SEGA to celebrate Sonic’s 30th anniversary in Monster Hunter Rise. More details on this exciting new collaboration will be shared soon, prior to the Event Quest’s release in November.

COSMONAUT STUDIOS JOINS SECRET MODE TO ALTER THE TIMELINE IN ETERNAL THREADS!

Leamington Spa – September 30th, 2021: Operatives from the future have appeared in Secret Mode’s Bunker and directed us to announce a new partnership with hugely talented indie developer Cosmonaut Studios to publish the story-driven time-manipulation puzzler Eternal Threads.

Hailing from Liverpool, England, Cosmonaut Studios is a small collective of industry veterans and talented newcomers with dozens of games under their belts – and even a BAFTA to prove it. Its latest game Eternal Threads is a “single-player, first-person story-driven puzzle game of time manipulation, choice and consequence.”

Eternal Threads has this utterly compelling story, which grabbed us all from the start,” said James Schall, Secret Mode’s Director of Publishing. “It combines wonderful character-driven story telling with clever time-manipulation puzzles, a kind of narrative Rubik’s cube. As I played through the early builds I was blown away and had to find out more about what happened in that house!”

“We wanted a publisher who understood Eternal Threads,” said Cosmonauts’ Creative Director Paul Johnson.  “Secret Mode’s enthusiasm for Eternal Threads really impressed us – they clearly understood what we were trying to achieve. We look forward to working with them to bring Eternal Threads to a wider audience.”

In Eternal Threads, as an operative tasked with fixing corruption in the timestream, you have been sent to the North of England in May 2015, where six people died in a house fire. Prohibited from simply stopping the fire, you must instead manipulate the choices made by the housemates in the week leading up to it so that they all survive the event.

Eternal Threads will be featured as part of Steam’s Next Fest from October 1st – 7thwith a demo available to play during the event.

Please feedback on the demo on the Steam discussions page. All feedback is welcome!

MOONGLOW BAY SETTING SAIL A LITTLE LATER, NOW EXPECTED 26TH OCTOBER

Publisher Coatsink and developers Bunnyhug are unfortunately announcing Moonglow Bay, the story-driven ‘slice-of-life’ fishing RPG set in a fishing town afraid to fish, will be departing the bay a little later than expected. Originally planned to release October 7th, Moonglow Bay is now expected to set sail on 26th October for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One Consoles, Xbox Game Pass for Console, Xbox Game Pass for PC, and Steam.

Epic Games Store is still set to release on November 11th. Moonglow Bay is priced at £19.99 / $24.99 USD / €24.99 SRP across all platforms

Developer Bunnhug offered the following statement addressing the 19-day delay:

“The game is delayed, but not by much! We at Bunnyhug have been working on Moonglow Bay for 4 years alongside Coatsink to make the best experience possible. Sadly, over the last few weeks we’ve been encountering some pesky bugs which have made getting a clean release build difficult. The game is now in a good place and in the final stage of development, but still needs to pass the final hurdles, so to ensure all is right as rain, we’ll be releasing Moonglow Bay on October 26! We hope you can enjoy what’s coming!”  –  The Bunnyhug team

Moonglow Bay was once the jewel of the Eastern Canadian coastline until rumours of dangerous, fantastical creatures ruined the fishing trade. With the town on the verge of bankruptcy and only one year until its centennial, you decide to fulfil your partner’s final wish of starting a business in a decisive attempt to revive the town.

Along the way you will befriend locals and encounter strange fish, cook and sell a variety of recipes; acquire new equipment, such as rods and a fishing boat; learn to cast nets, set traps and fish through ice. Explore the furthest reaches of the bay, from frigid glaciers to boiling geysers; and ultimately determine if there is any truth to the tales…

Combining a playful voxel art style and a sumptuous soundtrack, Moonglow Bay features distinct story arcs, 100+ aquatic species to discover, monster encounters, and a fully-inhabited town to explore, which can be enjoyed both single-player or with drop-in-drop-out local co-op. Explore the ocean, grow your business and restore life to an enchanting coastal town!

One Year of Crusader Kings III: 18 Million Marriages, 334 Million Children, and 4 Million Pets Petted

Paradox Interactive celebrates the acclaimed grand strategy game’s first birthday with new player data

STOCKHOLM – September 30, 2021 – Crusader Kings III, the renowned grand strategy role-playing game from Paradox Development Studio, is celebrating one full year atop the throne. To commemorate the occasion, Paradox has today shared a set of noble accomplishments achieved by lords and ladies across the realm to date.

  • 334 million children born
  • 18 million marriages and betrothals
  • 4 million characters broken by stress
  • 4 million pets petted
  • 1 million prisoners escaped

Over the year, player habits and patterns have also begun to take shape:

We can’t wait to see what else the monarchs of CK3 continue to get up to as we work to bring new features and content to the game in the future.”

Crusader Kings III launched a year ago to both critical and community acclaim, combining the depth and complexity of Paradox’ grand strategy offerings with a new level of approachability and accessibility. Fans can look forward to the game’s first major expansion, Royal Court, which will bring upgrades, improvements, and an all-new throne room to the game when it launches later this year.
