Discover the magic of Hela: New Deep Dive about charming-useful backpacks

Knights Peak and Windup Games are thrilled to release a new Deep Dive video for Hela, the heartwarming open-world adventure game set in a handcrafted world inspired by Scandinavian landscapes. The video offers an in-depth look at the enchanting world of Hela and its unique gameplay mechanics.

The Froggy Backpack is the heart of adventure in Hela, granting the tiny mouse extraordinary abilities to explore a world brimming with magic and wonder.

With the Frog Tongue, players can latch onto branches, beams, or ledges to swing, climb, or build momentum. It’s not just a tool for movement but a way to interact with the world, pulling objects closer, dragging them into place, or even forming bridges between players. When paired with forest creatures, the tongue becomes a lasso, harnessing their speed and strength for exhilarating rides.

By inflating the backpack, the mouse unfurls a paraglider, allowing for graceful descents and daring midair maneuvers. Mastering gliding, adjusting altitude, riding air currents, and executing precise turns unlocks the verticality of Hela’s world. On the ground, the inflated backpack transforms into a bouncy platform, perfect for reaching new heights alone or with friends.

A powerful plunge sends the mouse hurtling toward the ground with force, ideal for uncovering hidden paths, bouncing off trampolines, or simply creating a bit of joyful mayhem.

As a trusty companion, the backpack safely stores gathered items, ingredients, and tools, keeping them secure until they’re needed back at the witch’s cottage.

For solo players or smaller teams, the backpack’s magic allows the creation of Shades, echoing the player’s actions. Whether lassoing, bridging, or gliding, Shades ensure that the adventure is always a full team effort, even when playing alone.

Forest creatures may teach the player new abilities, helping them explore and open paths that were once out of reach, such as the double jump. The frog backpack serves as a constant companion, opening up playful and surprising ways to explore the world of Hela.

The Deep Dive video offers a comprehensive look at these features and more, providing fans with an exciting glimpse into the world of Hela

In Hela, players take on the role of a small but agile mouse, helping a kind, wary witch care for the land she has protected for generations. Explore alone or together across various environments like forests, meadows, wetlands, and burrows. The witch provides the player with a backpack infused with magic, enabling them to explore further, reach higher, and interact with the world in new, and sometimes relaxing ways.

Hela, the recipient of two gamescom 2025 awards for “Most Entertaining” and “Most Wholesome“, is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation®5 and PC in 2026.

Cyberpunk-Noir Narrative RPG Celestial Return Rolls the Dice on a May 7th Launch Date

The debut title from storytelling veterans Metaphor Games lands on PC later this year, inviting players to investigate a series of mysterious murders committed on the neon-washed streets of the decaying Netherveil City

Istanbul, Türkiye – February 26, 2026 – Metaphor Games and Shoreline Games have today announced today that dice-based narrative RPG Celestial Return will launch on PC via Steam on May 7, 2026. Revealed as part of IGN Fan Fest, the new trailer showcases more of the choice-based and dice-driven gameplay that awaits players later this year.

In Celestial Return, players will step into the well-worn loafers of Detective Howard, and, armed with a pocket full of dice, a sentient smart-mouthed rose, and a rusty badge, they’ll take to the neon-washed streets of the Lovecraft-influenced Netherveil City to solve a string of mysterious, grisly murders. Not all is as it seems though – corpses won’t stay dead, secrets won’t stay buried, and the corruption oozing from Netherveil is set to blow.

Wake up, and step into the world of Netherveil City with the latest trailer:

Expanding the world of Celestial Return beyond its digital landscape, Metaphor Games has also released the first in a series of Webtoon comics that delve deeper into the seedy underbelly of Netherveil City, showcasing the stunning hand-drawn art used in game, that blends the iconic precision of manga with the raw nerve of American comics to create something wholly new. New comics will be released periodically in the run-up to launch, each showcasing a fragment of the story leading up to the start of Celestial Return.

For players wanting to take to the blood soaked streets of Netherveil City, there is a demo currently available on Steam that showcases around 45 minutes of the narrative driven adventure, just a taste of what awaits at launch in May.

Celestial Return Key Features:

  • Doomed Gameplay Loop: Earn and spend your dice while leveling up your own personality, to gain the edge needed to survive conversational combat. It’s sometimes violent, but always desperate.
  • Simple Currency: Dice aren’t just tools. They’re oxygen. Earn ’em, spend ’em, lose ’em. Hoard them too long, and opportunities vanish. Roll recklessly, and resources burn.
  • Welcome the Crossroads: Discover a vast sci-fi story, rich with twists, turns, mind-bending crossroads, and a branching narrative fully shaped by your decisions.
  • Sounds & Visuals to Bleed For: Immerse yourself in a completely hand-drawn world where manga’s precision meets the raw nerve of American comics
  • Choices Matter: Your choices are the weapons and your mind the battlefield. Decide the outcome with each small step. Just remember: Intelligence picks locks in silence. Virtue pleads for mercy. Foolishness laughs at the abyss.

Cursed Fishing Adventure DREADMOOR Braves Bayou Wastelands in New Gameplay Trailer

NICOSIA, Cyprus – Feb. 26, 2026 – DREADMOOR, the dark fishing adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world wades through corrupted waters in the newest gameplay trailer today, as revealed during IGN Fan Fest. Publisher Digital Vortex Entertainment and developer Dream Dock Games catch unspeakable evils hook, line and sinker in Q4 2026 on PC via Steam.

A plague-ravaged world in the early 20th century conceals untold treasures beneath its depths, but only the most ice-veined, fearless fisherman can turn a profit in the Submerged Lands. As murky waters blur the lines between predator and prey, gas up a small-but-mighty vessel and trawl through ominous waterways teeming with mutant life…with an acquired taste for human flesh.

Scrounge for materials and parts on land, then cast a line to reel in dozens of sordid sea creatures, each with varying value, rarity and strength levels. There’s always a bigger fish — start with simpler catches like the peaceful Softgrazer, then upgrade equipment capable of landing deadlier, more valuable predatory fish like the Bristler.

After a long day (or night) of fishing, cash in the day’s catch with the ichthyic shopkeeper in exchange for cold hard cash. Purchase parts to turn a basic boat into a floating fortress by both strengthening its hull and boosting its speed to chase down (or escape) even tougher hunts that lie ahead.

Preparation is key, as no one enters these waters at the top of the food chain. Craft plenty of bait, harpoons and health kits before every run. Unlock and equip both special lures and stronger lines capable of paralyzing dangerous fish and survive heavier hauls.

DREADMOOR is a love-letter to our studio’s two obsessions: classic horror movies, and fishing!” said Rostislav Fedorov, CEO of Dream Dock Games. “We have so much more to share in the coming months. Stay tuned!”

DREADMOOR is coming to PC via Steam in Q4 2026. For more information, wishlist the game, join the official Discord server, and follow DREADMOOR on X/Twitter for the latest updates.

Flesh & Wire, a dark and violent return to POSTAL’soriginal theme and setting, will arrive on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and GOG in 2027, as revealed in the IGN Fan Fest showcase.

Join forces with Angel, a seemingly normal college student suddenly swept up in a fever dream of conspiracy, blood, and vengeance. Along with her loyal sphinx cat Solomon, Angel runs afoul of the law, military, and an ominous cult. Summon every bit of grit, determination, and buckshot available. Angel will need every spare bullet and bandage to get the answers she’s seeking and vengeance for the tragedy that changed her life forever.

Flesh & Wire is an idea we’ve been talking about internally and with our community for a long time,” said Vince Desi, founder of Running With Scissors. “With POSTAL, we’ve explored satire and our own sense of humor as the series has progressed. Now with Flesh & Wire, we’re returning to our dark, psychological horror roots – another genre we trailblazed.”

High On Life 2 Review

Overview

Games are supposed to be fun; I think we can all universally agree on that. Fun can come from many different directions: either by being brutally challenging, featuring unique gameplay mechanics, offering ridiculously rich side content, or having an engaging replay value. But when you really come to think of it, I’m genuinely not sure if I’ve played many titles that I could accurately label as just… flat-out funny. Sure, there are a few rare exceptions out there, such as South Park: The Stick of Truth, BattleBlock Theater, or the legendary Conker’s Bad Fur Day. Earning a well-deserved spot on that exclusive list is also the first High On Life. It’s a game that already starts with the absolutely hilarious, unhinged premise of an alien cartel enslaving humanity strictly to use them to……uhm, smoke them as weed. You just gotta see it to believe it.

So imagine my surprise when the trailer for this game suddenly dropped out of nowhere, promising a significantly bigger and vastly better universe to explore. Honestly, I would have been equally hooked even with a simple promise of “more of the same,” especially since the first game managed to hit that perfect sweet spot of being constantly funny without ever overstaying its welcome….And for those out of the loop, Squanch Games is a studio founded by Justin Roiland, one of the Rick & Morty co-creators, so you can already imagine what blend of humor we’re all in.

Story

After saving humanity from the interstellar cartel of weed human-smoking enjoyer aliens in the first game, you are now officially recognized as the greatest bounty hunter in the universe (which, honestly, is still a phenomenally weird sentence to type out, but let’s just roll with it). Life at the top is exactly as glorious as you’d expect. You’re raking in the intergalactic talk show appearances, locking down lucrative sponsorship deals for questionable space-energy drinks, and swimming in fame, fortune, and an absurd amount of alien cash. You’re practically the universe’s deadliest influencer. All that is good until your sister Lizzie is kidnapped by an evil pharmaceutical conglomerate, and now you find yourself on the wrong side of the law. The hunter becomes the hunted, the bounteer (?) becomes the bounty, and to quote the great philosopher Billie Eilish: “you are now the bad guy” (disclaimer: might not be the actual quote).

Gameplay

While it’s not quite a full-blown, hundreds-of-hours sandbox just yet, High On Life 2 offers significantly more freedom when it comes to deciding your mission approach and getting lost exploring the side content. Instead of being forced down linear alien hallways like in the first game, you’re actually given the breathing room to tackle objectives your way and stumble upon some secrets and easter eggs. The developers clearly didn’t want to rely too heavily on the already established, safe formula. To keep things fresh, you can expect an entirely new arsenal of non-stop talking weapons, each bringing its own specific brand of neurotic, hilarious, and mildly unhinged commentary to your choices. Alongside your chatty firearms, the galaxy is populated with a fresh cast of delightfully annoying side characters who exist purely to test your patience and annoy you to no end.

But hands down, one of the best and most unexpected new additions in the game is the brand-new skateboard traversal system. Early on in the campaign, you face off against (and naturally, defeat) a rival, human-weed-smoking bounty hunter. Your ultimate reward? You get to loot his slick space skateboard. From that moment on, you can casually lipslide, grind, manual, and kickflip your way from one end of the map to the other. Now, full disclosure: you pretty much gain absolutely nothing from doing this. No sick combo multipliers are flashing on the screen, no hidden collectible letters to hunt down, and zero RPG progression levels tied to landing your sick flips. But is it still insanely fun? You bet it is!

Visuals

This is something that took me completely by surprise, and trust me, I don’t mean that in a good way. In fact, I could easily write an entire, completely separate essay just venting about the technical performance in this game. If you think it is merely “bad”………my brothers in Christ, you have absolutely no idea what bad even looks like anymore. Calling the optimization in High On Life 2 merely “bad” is the understatement of the century. It’s truly abysmal, it’s mindboggling, and it fundamentally defies every known law of logic in this universe.

I recently built a pretty powerful, high-end gaming PC and, thankfully, I was lucky enough to put it all together right before RAM prices decided to skyrocket to oblivion. Yet, this is the very first title where I had to do some agonizing, sweat-inducing tinkering in the settings menu just to get a somewhat stable framerate. I was desperately juggling between DLSS and AMD FSR options, aggressively upscaling, tragically downscaling, constantly tweaking the native resolution, flipping frame generation on and off, switching textures from low to high, and then sadly back to low again. I tried basically anything and everything I could think of just to get this game into a barely playable state. I actually purposely stalled on publishing this review for a while, desperately hoping some miraculous day-one hotfix or a massive optimization patch would swoop in to save it and up the performance to an acceptable level. Spoiler alert: that mythical update never happened.

Out of sheer curiosity, I even went out of my way to redownload the first High On Life (which I last played back in 2023) just to see if I had played that original title with thick, rose-tinted glasses. It is genuinely bizarre and a little heartbreaking how much better the overall performance, the framerate stability, and even the visuals in the first game are compared to this completely unoptimized sequel. The original runs like absolute butter, whereas the sequel feels like it’s constantly chugging through a swamp of broken code. I honestly don’t know what kind of messy engine tweaks the developers tried to pull off here, but whatever it is, please don’t do it anymore. Seriously, just stop.

Audio

While the game’s overall audio segment is not in such an abysmal, hair-pulling state as the visual performance, it still leaves a whole lot to be desired. Since I already had to redownload the first High On Life for the sake of a side-by-side performance comparison (and honestly, out of pure, unadulterated desperation just to see something run smoothly), the audio & sound effects downgrade became glaringly obvious. To be fair, the actual voice acting and the trademark humor of the talking guns are still entirely on par with the previous game. They still hurl insults and act unhinged with the perfect comedic timing. However, the actual weapon sound effects are drastically lacking that satisfying, heavy “oomph” you expect when blasting aliens. Instead of firing off impactful sci-fi artillery that rattles your headphones, it genuinely felt more like I was playing a weird, M-rated version of Splatoon. You are essentially just using plastic paintball guns to coat enemies in colorful goop until they eventually get annoyed and just decide to die out of sheer boredom. Honorable mention goes to the enemy AI that will either stand there or run around in circles while you just shoot in their direction.

Overall

While the game undeniably feels like a massive upgrade in terms of a wilder story and significantly more bizarre content, the glaring performance drawbacks are such a serious, game-breaking issue that I honestly cannot recommend it in this abysmal state. It is incredibly frustrating to see so much potential buried under a technical mess. Do yourself a favor and wait for a few major patches, crossing your fingers and hoping the developers might actually turn this ship around. But right now, if anything, the true value of High On Life 2 lies in reminding everyone just how fantastic its predecessor was.

In addition to being the first live All Stars event, the finals are the first time a RuneScape event will be held outside of the UK since its launch in 2001.

What is Deadman: All Stars?

  • Deadman: All Stars is the annual, invite-only version of Old School RuneScape’s open PvP Deadman game mode. The finals will see six invited, creator-led teams battle live on stage in front of a packed auditorium, until only the victorious remain.
  • A highly intense and competitive tournament that celebrates the very best of the Old School RuneScape Community, All Stars sees 30 participants drafted into the teams of five before battling to be the last team standing.
  • The build up to the finals take place over nine days, with each player limited to 120 hours of playtime, during which time teams must build their game accounts from scratch, accruing gear ahead of the finale in Chicago.
  • Season 1 winners and Season 2 runners-up, Dino Nuggets, will look to reclaim the crown, while another returning team, Odablock Warriors, will hope to go one better than their previous best of second place, and snag the top spot.

Ticket prices will range from $94.99-$189.99 for standard tickets, depending on which tier of seating you select. There are also limited amounts of VIP package options available between Rune and Dragon. These packages both include additional extras and some of the best seating, with Dragon providing an all-inclusive, special access experience.

Rune Package is priced at $334.99 and Dragon Package at $504.99. For more information about the packages on offer please visit the Deadman All Stars website.

Alongside the event’s tickets, Jagex has opened pre-orders for a range of merchandise celebrating Deadman All Stars Live. Embracing a fashion-forward, streetwear aesthetic, these lines are available with an early-bird discount on pre-order. These lines will form part of the wider range available at the event with the exception of the Icon Hoodie, available exclusively on pre-order and never to be restocked or resold.

The tournament and finals will also be live-streamed on the Old School RuneScape Twitch account, hosted by high-profile players Solo Mission, Purespam, and EVSscape shoutcasting, enabling fans who can’t get to Chicago to witness what will be a tense battle for the Deadman: All Stars crown.
